Emily White runs the farm with her mother Susan and one paid employee, Gloria. Her estranged sister, Dorothy, suddenly arrives one winter day with her business associate, Charlie Blanchard. Though Dorothy inherited half the dairy with her sister when their father died, she lives in New York City and has no interest in the farm, other than to realize what cash it can produce. Though Dorothy claims the sale would preserve the business as a dairy, it turns out an offer by Richardson Development is more lucrative. Their plan would be to raze the 50-year-old family dairy farm to create 50 house lots. Emily and her mother want to preserve her father's legacy but they need to find $400,000 by Christmas Eve to buy out the sister Dorothy. She asks her father to send her a sign and wishes for a Christmas miracle and, thanks to help from the handsome Charlie who is falling for Emily, they begin crowd-funding. But will it be enough, and in time? And will Charlie and Emily find love together?

00:04:39Oh, my God.
00:05:09Hey, Dad.
00:05:13I could really use a Christmas miracle right now.
00:05:18I don't know how much longer I can keep this going.
00:05:22And if I can't pay Gloria, I'm afraid she's going to leave us.
00:05:28And I know for certain that we can't do this without her.
00:05:36If you're out there, will you please give me a sign?
00:05:38Something?
00:05:42Anything to let me know that this will all be okay?
00:05:53Oh, are you kidding me, Dad?
00:05:54I didn't think you'd actually give me one.
00:05:56Okay.
00:06:05Okay.
00:06:09I guess I'll just trust you.
00:06:12And I...
00:06:14We'll hang in there.
00:06:19We'll wait for our Christmas miracle.
00:06:34Emily, so good to see you.
00:06:36Hey, Trey.
00:06:37Come on in.
00:06:39How are things on the farm?
00:06:41Well, that's what I wanted to talk to you about.
00:06:44I need to extend our line of credit just until the fourth quarter subsidy comes in.
00:06:48Emily, I hate to be a Scrooge here, but extending your credit line any further, it's not really a wise thing to do.
00:06:54I just need to make it to the end of the year.
00:06:58Let's have a seat.
00:07:05Maybe you should think about selling the farm.
00:07:07A lot of real estate developers would drool over that property.
00:07:12Trey.
00:07:13You knew my dad.
00:07:15That's the last thing he'd want me to do.
00:07:17Wow.
00:07:18You sure I've inherited your father's positive outlook on things.
00:07:21But it's not always the most practical way of approaching business, and that's what this is.
00:07:29Just business.
00:07:29Not to me and my family.
00:07:31He entrusted that farm to me.
00:07:33Emily.
00:07:35He may have left you an impossible task.
00:07:42But he gave me a sign.
00:07:44He what?
00:07:47Nothing.
00:07:48Just extend our equity line for one month and get me to the end of the year.
00:07:55Come on, it's Christmas.
00:07:59Let me get the paperwork.
00:08:03Oh, hey.
00:08:04How's your sister doing?
00:08:06Dorothy?
00:08:06Yeah.
00:08:07She's, uh...
00:08:09I don't know.
00:08:10I haven't talked to her in a while.
00:08:11Why do you ask?
00:08:12No reason.
00:08:13I just thought it might be nice to catch up with her, you know, over the holidays.
00:08:16She's pretty settled in New York.
00:08:18I don't think she's going to come home for Christmas.
00:08:20But I'll tell her that you said hi next time I talk to her.
00:08:23Oh, yeah, sure.
00:08:24I mean, if you think she'd appreciate that, that would be...
00:08:28It's so nice.
00:08:29I'll be right back.
00:08:30Jingle bells, jingle bells, I got bills to pay.
00:08:47Oh, Gracie.
00:08:48How are you so smart that you always get out into the pen?
00:08:56Come here.
00:08:58I told you we've got the barn dance coming up, and I'm trying to clean things up.
00:09:02I cannot have you going around making messes, okay?
00:09:05Excuse me.
00:09:05I'm sorry.
00:09:07Hi.
00:09:08Oh.
00:09:09I didn't know anyone else was here.
00:09:11I didn't mean to interrupt.
00:09:14You were in the middle of a conversation.
00:09:16Oh, uh, it's just Gracie knows how to undo the latch, and so she's been wandering around,
00:09:23and you know what?
00:09:25Never mind.
00:09:26No, please.
00:09:27Please go on.
00:09:30It's just that my dad used to talk to the cows, and he used to say,
00:09:34a happy cow is a productive cow.
00:09:38Dorothy.
00:09:39Hey, sis.
00:09:40What are you doing here?
00:09:42I've come to save Christmas.
00:09:44What?
00:09:45I see you've already met Charlie.
00:09:47He's working with me on a project.
00:09:49So, this is your sister.
00:09:53Dorothy's told me a lot about you.
00:09:55Oh, has she?
00:09:56Yes, of course I have, Em.
00:09:58You're my sister, and I'm here to help.
00:10:01Good.
00:10:02The cow stalls me in mucking out.
00:10:04Ew.
00:10:05Now, can we go inside and talk?
00:10:09Sure.
00:10:11Let me put Gracie away.
00:10:12Okay.
00:10:15What is she doing here?
00:10:21You ignore her.
00:10:23All right?
00:10:28It's too bad Mom's not here.
00:10:30I know she would have loved to see you.
00:10:32Well, I've been asking her to come visit me in the city for years.
00:10:35Well, you know Mom.
00:10:37She's a country girl through and through.
00:10:39Just like her favorite daughter.
00:10:43Dorothy.
00:10:44She'll be home in a few hours.
00:10:46Can you stay for dinner?
00:10:47I was planning on it.
00:10:50That's great.
00:10:51So, how are things going here on the farm?
00:10:55Fine.
00:10:56Really?
00:10:59Then, perhaps, you can explain this.
00:11:04Maybe you've forgotten Em, but Dad left the farm to both of us.
00:11:08Why didn't you tell me we were so far behind?
00:11:10I should have.
00:11:15I didn't want to admit it to myself, let alone anyone else.
00:11:20Does Mom know?
00:11:21No.
00:11:22You know how much she worries.
00:11:24She should be worried, Emily.
00:11:25This is serious.
00:11:28It's fine.
00:11:29I went to go see Trey at the bank today.
00:11:31Oh.
00:11:32How is Trey?
00:11:33He's good.
00:11:35Who's Trey?
00:11:36No one.
00:11:36Don't worry about it.
00:11:37Dorothy's high school crush.
00:11:38Anyway, Trey has agreed to extend our line of credit.
00:11:43Which only means you're delaying the inevitable if you can't turn this around.
00:11:48But like I said, I'm here to save Christmas.
00:11:51What does that mean?
00:11:53I have an offer to buy the farm.
00:11:56What?
00:11:56Just hear me out.
00:11:57No, absolutely not.
00:11:59Dad wouldn't...
00:11:59Dad wouldn't want us to lose the farm to bankruptcy, which is where we're heading.
00:12:03Charlie here represents an investment group that's interested in buying the property.
00:12:07Out of the question.
00:12:08And he's going to tell you about the offer.
00:12:10No, that's completely unacceptable.
00:12:11And then we'll discuss...
00:12:13Not even a possibility, Dorothy.
00:12:15Our options.
00:12:16No.
00:12:17Go ahead, Charlie.
00:12:19Well, like your sister said, I represent an investment group that's interested in the property.
00:12:23One of our clients is a dairy conglomerate.
00:12:26Dairy world.
00:12:27And they're willing to pay a fair price.
00:12:29Well, more than fair, really.
00:12:31And they want to keep it operating as a dairy farm, which means at least the property will
00:12:36remain farmland.
00:12:37It'll get us caught up.
00:12:39And it'll give us all, you, me, and mom, a little nest egg.
00:12:42I don't care about a nest egg.
00:12:45I want to keep the farm.
00:12:47Look, Emily, I don't like this any more than you do.
00:12:49I don't know about that.
00:12:50You seem pretty proud of yourself.
00:12:52The reality is the farm's losing money.
00:12:54We're falling further behind.
00:12:56So unless you have some kind of Christmas miracle up your sleeve...
00:13:00Yes.
00:13:03What?
00:13:04A Christmas miracle.
00:13:08What is your share of the farm worth?
00:13:12$400,000?
00:13:14That's the buyout price we agreed to when dad passed.
00:13:18Fine.
00:13:19Then I'll buy you out.
00:13:21Excuse me?
00:13:22You heard me.
00:13:23I will buy you out.
00:13:24And don't you dare say a word about this to mom.
00:13:26You let me tell her.
00:13:27Emily, you can't even afford to pay your bills.
00:13:30How are you going to buy me out?
00:13:33I'll figure it out.
00:13:36It'll take a miracle, but I will figure it out.
00:13:42This has been amazing.
00:13:44It's so rare that I get a home-cooked meal these days.
00:13:46Be careful what you say around my mother.
00:13:48You might go home with three weeks' worth of leftovers.
00:13:50Oh, hush, Emily.
00:13:52But you should definitely take some leftovers.
00:13:53Dorothy, it's so good to see you.
00:13:58You need to come home more often.
00:14:00You can always come visit me in the city, Mom.
00:14:03Oh, I don't know, Dot.
00:14:05So far away.
00:14:08So, what brings you to town?
00:14:11Just business.
00:14:14My two daughters, successful businesswomen.
00:14:17I love your Santas.
00:14:22Can you tell me a little more about them?
00:14:24They were my husband's mothers.
00:14:27She collected them from all over the world.
00:14:31They're wonderful.
00:14:32You never told me about the Santas.
00:14:34I thought they were creepy.
00:14:36They gave me nightmares as a kid.
00:14:38Okay, nobody wants coal in their stockings.
00:14:42What are your plans for Christmas?
00:14:43Can you stay?
00:14:44Oh, no, I've got to be heading back to the city.
00:14:47And Charlie...
00:14:48Yeah, I'm going to stick around for the sale of the farm.
00:14:53Excuse me?
00:14:55Mom.
00:14:56What do you mean, the sale of the farm?
00:14:59It's nothing, Mom.
00:15:00Don't worry about it.
00:15:01Well, it's not nothing.
00:15:05We're having a little cash flow issue.
00:15:08A little?
00:15:09We're going to take care of it.
00:15:11Emily.
00:15:12Wait a minute.
00:15:13Someone please tell me what's going on here?
00:15:15Mom.
00:15:17The farm is going under, and we need to sell.
00:15:26So good to see you, Dorothy.
00:15:29It was really nice to meet you, Charlie.
00:15:33Don't forget the leftovers.
00:15:36Excuse me.
00:15:37I'm sorry.
00:15:41I'm sorry.
00:15:42I didn't...
00:15:43It just...
00:15:44Why would you upset her like that?
00:15:45Why would you lie to her?
00:15:47You think she won't notice when they foreclose and the auctioneer shows up to sell the house
00:15:51out from under her and all her Santas?
00:15:52Don't bring the Santas into this.
00:15:54Don't you dare.
00:15:55It's not about the Santas.
00:15:56I'm trying to save the farm.
00:15:58And I'm trying to save our future.
00:15:59Hey, look, maybe I'll just head back to the hotel and...
00:16:06The deadline is December 31st to commit to the sale.
00:16:09But everything pretty much closes down between Christmas and New Year's.
00:16:12So we have until Christmas Eve.
00:16:13After that, the sale is going forward.
00:16:16Look, I'm sorry.
00:16:22I'm really sorry.
00:16:23We're...
00:16:24We're just trying to help.
00:16:26Really.
00:16:26Really.
00:16:46I should have told you.
00:17:00How did it get so bad, Em?
00:17:04It's not like I did it on purpose.
00:17:06I worked as hard as I possibly could.
00:17:11And...
00:17:12Month after month, we just got a little further and further behind.
00:17:17But I asked you.
00:17:20You said you had it all under control.
00:17:26There might have been a tiny bit of pride involved.
00:17:33I'm so sorry, Mom.
00:17:34I...
00:17:35I'm so embarrassed.
00:17:37Okay, then.
00:17:46We're done.
00:17:48With what?
00:17:52Sulking and feeling sorry for ourselves.
00:17:58Time to move on and...
00:18:01solve the problem.
00:18:04Just like that.
00:18:05Yes, just like that.
00:18:15It's not a problem.
00:18:17It's a challenge.
00:18:21I know you sound like your father.
00:18:26He gave me a sign, you know.
00:18:32He gives them to me all the time.
00:18:33Okay, let's list our assets and liabilities.
00:18:50Liabilities first.
00:18:51That's easy.
00:18:53Money.
00:18:54We need lots of money.
00:18:55Time.
00:18:56We have less than three weeks until Christmas Eve.
00:18:59Hmm.
00:19:00What about the season?
00:19:01Then it's winter.
00:19:02The ice cream shop's closed.
00:19:03Yep.
00:19:04What about overhead?
00:19:06Overhead's a big one.
00:19:07Feed, payroll, maintenance, electricity.
00:19:10I'd call Dorothy a liability.
00:19:13She's the one that got us into this mess.
00:19:15No, Dorothy just sped up the inevitable.
00:19:18She's the one making us face the problem.
00:19:20Challenge.
00:19:21Challenge.
00:19:23What about Charlie?
00:19:25Unknown.
00:19:26He is trying to sell the farm.
00:19:28But he is very charming.
00:19:31He has kai dyes.
00:19:32And he did compliment my Santas.
00:19:34Okay, we're getting completely off track here.
00:19:37We know what our liabilities are.
00:19:39What are our assets other than Dorothy?
00:19:42She is not an asset.
00:19:43Whatever.
00:19:44You know what I mean.
00:19:44You know what we have?
00:19:51We have the best tasting ice cream in the entire world.
00:19:54That's what we have.
00:19:56Yeah.
00:19:57And you know what else we have?
00:19:59We have us.
00:20:00Yes.
00:20:01Three of the smartest, hardest working, most capable women I know.
00:20:07That's right.
00:20:08So, which one of these liabilities can we actually do something about?
00:20:10Overhead's pretty fixed.
00:20:13We're already operating pretty lean.
00:20:15And we can't move Christmas.
00:20:18Why can't we do something about this one?
00:20:21Uh, well, because we can't change the position of the rotational axis of the earth relative to the sun.
00:20:28Just saying.
00:20:30All right, well, it's cold outside right now and we're all sitting here eating ice cream.
00:20:34New Englanders do eat more ice cream per capita than anywhere else in the country.
00:20:37And we eat it year-round, so why is the ice cream shop closed?
00:20:42That's what we've always done.
00:20:44But that's silly.
00:20:45People still want ice cream.
00:20:46So that's it.
00:20:48We open the shop.
00:20:49Ice cream for Christmas.
00:20:51Ice cream for Christmas.
00:20:51Ice cream for Christmas.
00:21:07Welcome to White's Ice Cream.
00:21:31It's you.
00:21:32I guess I deserve that.
00:21:39No, uh, stray cows in here today.
00:21:42Oh, I wouldn't say that.
00:21:43It looks like one just walked in.
00:21:45Look, I come in peace.
00:21:48You're actually who I needed to speak to.
00:21:50If you're here to talk me into selling again...
00:21:52No, no, you made yourself clear yesterday.
00:21:54I just have to take a look around.
00:21:56I have to show the buyers the facilities tomorrow.
00:22:00I thought I should see them first.
00:22:01Well, don't let me hold you up.
00:22:03I'm pretty busy.
00:22:04I can see that.
00:22:11Something else?
00:22:13Yeah, well, while I'm here, what's good?
00:22:19Everything.
00:22:20Okay.
00:22:22Okay, what?
00:22:25Give me a scoop of your six best.
00:22:27With sprinkles.
00:22:28We call them jimmies.
00:22:29You do?
00:22:34Okay, then, with jimmies.
00:22:38Seriously?
00:22:41Okay.
00:22:42One gigantic Sunday coming right up.
00:22:44I can't say I didn't warn you.
00:23:12Do you need anything else?
00:23:14No, um, thank you.
00:23:17Actually, maybe one thing.
00:23:21Second spoon?
00:23:23That's a lot of ice cream for one person.
00:23:26That is unless you're really busy with other customers.
00:23:42And what about this one?
00:23:46Buttermilk chip. It's one of our best sellers.
00:23:50Mmm.
00:23:52Mmm.
00:23:54This one?
00:23:56Mocha pecan. That one's Dorothy's favorite.
00:24:00Oh, wow. You're right.
00:24:04It's good. Everything is really good.
00:24:06Happy cows.
00:24:08Happy cows.
00:24:10That has a ring to it.
00:24:12Dorothy said that the shop was closed during the winter.
00:24:16Well, we opened this Christmas.
00:24:18I figured we could use the extra revenue.
00:24:20That's an interesting plan.
00:24:22You're just missing one thing.
00:24:24Don't say customers.
00:24:26I didn't have to. You did.
00:24:28Have you thought about advertising?
00:24:32I don't know if you've heard, but we're struggling.
00:24:34I don't have the budget for billboards or radio ads.
00:24:38That's not your only problem.
00:24:40You need to come up with $400,000 before Christmas Eve.
00:24:44That means you have to sell what?
00:24:46200,000 cones in the next two weeks.
00:24:50What you need is a way to generate buzz without spending money.
00:24:56You need to get people talking about you.
00:24:58You need to give them something that gets them excited and brings you revenue.
00:25:02You need something like a...
00:25:06Like a contest.
00:25:08Boom. There it is.
00:25:10We could have our customers come up with their favorite Christmas flavors.
00:25:16Winner gets a lifetime supply of free ice cream.
00:25:18You're trying to save money.
00:25:20Winner gets a year's supply of free ice cream.
00:25:22We'll engage our loyal customers.
00:25:25If we can sell them on the fun of ice cream at Christmas time,
00:25:29they'll be our advocates, our investors, they'll be our partners.
00:25:33You could set up a crowdfunding campaign.
00:25:36Let them contribute.
00:25:37And that will bring in extra customers.
00:25:39Charlie, if this works, this could completely change things around for us.
00:25:43If we can get customers to buy ice cream year-round, we could be profitable.
00:25:51Wait, why are you helping me?
00:25:53You're supposed to be selling the farm.
00:25:58I might feel a little bit guilty about what happened at dinner.
00:26:03Oh.
00:26:05You mean when you said exactly the thing that I asked you not to say?
00:26:10Yes.
00:26:15But I, um...
00:26:17Also don't mind a fair fight.
00:26:21Good.
00:26:22You're about to get one.
00:26:28Hi, I'm Emily White.
00:26:30And this is our family dairy farm.
00:26:32We've been in operation for over 50 years since my father took over the business from my grandfather.
00:26:38But the reality of operating a dairy farm in today's day and age...
00:26:42Uh, it...
00:26:43Okay, cut.
00:26:44Um...
00:26:46That's...
00:26:47Kinda depressing.
00:26:48Uh, nobody wants to donate to a sinking ship.
00:26:51It's like throwing a bucket of water on the Titanic.
00:26:54We gotta spin it.
00:26:56Make it fun.
00:26:57Okay.
00:26:58Okay.
00:26:59Uh, let's...
00:27:00Let's...
00:27:01Try it again.
00:27:02Okay.
00:27:05Action.
00:27:06I'm Emily White.
00:27:07And this is our family dairy farm.
00:27:09We've been operating for over 50 years as a family business.
00:27:13Nobody wants to see us get bought out by a big corporation.
00:27:16We refuse to go the way of so many other family farms across America.
00:27:21Okay, cut.
00:27:23That's not really fun.
00:27:25Um...
00:27:26Okay, we need to appeal to their hearts.
00:27:28Not just their hearts.
00:27:31Their taste buds, too.
00:27:34Will you go grab me a cup of ice cream?
00:27:42That is the most amazing ice cream.
00:27:45And I'm the luckiest girl because I've grown up eating it my entire life.
00:27:49Hi, my name's Emily White, and this is our family dairy farm.
00:27:53Those are our cows.
00:27:54Henrietta, Eleanor, and...
00:27:57Gracie's somewhere in the back.
00:27:59Here at White's Farm, we have the happiest cows on Earth.
00:28:02And there is something about their milk that makes the richest, creamiest, most delicious ice cream.
00:28:08As part of our crowdfunding appeal, we're having a Christmas flavor competition.
00:28:13The winner gets a year's supply of free ice cream.
00:28:16So come down to White's Ice Cream Stand every day this month to try a new flavor and vote for which one's your favorite.
00:28:23Then, we'll have a special release of the winning Christmas flavor.
00:28:26Thanks for watching.
00:28:28Oh, honey, you look adorable.
00:28:31It's good, Em.
00:28:32It's really good.
00:28:33You think so?
00:28:35No, I know so.
00:28:36This is really gonna work.
00:28:38I'll get the rest of the info on the site and we'll go live tomorrow.
00:28:41And then we pull out all the stops and forward the link to absolutely everyone we know.
00:28:46I'll call Mary down at the newspaper.
00:28:48Maybe she'll do a story.
00:28:49Bob down at the radio station.
00:28:50He'll probably put you on the air, too.
00:28:53We're going viral, baby.
00:28:58Everybody ready?
00:28:59This is gonna save the farm.
00:29:01Yeah.
00:29:02For Dad.
00:29:03For Dad.
00:29:04For your Dad.
00:29:11Welcome to White's Ice Cream.
00:29:18It's you.
00:29:20You might want to work in your customer service training.
00:29:23I'd probably need some customers for that, huh?
00:29:28Is Christmas Kiss what I think it is?
00:29:30Whole Hershey Kisses and a vanilla base.
00:29:32I unwrap the kisses myself.
00:29:34Wow.
00:29:35Pretty high food cost.
00:29:36These look nice.
00:29:47What?
00:29:48What are you doing?
00:29:49I have a farm to run, Charlie.
00:29:50I cannot stand around all day waiting for customers to show up.
00:29:54Hey, be patient.
00:29:55Listen, these things take time.
00:29:57I don't have time.
00:29:58This was a really great idea.
00:30:00But I'm gonna have to find my miracle somewhere else.
00:30:07Hi.
00:30:09Welcome to White's Ice Cream.
00:30:11You were saying?
00:30:15Today's special is a Christmas Kiss.
00:30:18How many can I get for everyone?
00:30:23This is for you.
00:30:24Change.
00:30:32Can you believe this?
00:30:33The website is blowing up.
00:30:34We have had suggestions from all around the country.
00:30:37Even one from North Dakota.
00:30:38What was the suggestion?
00:30:39Uh, buffalo berry.
00:30:41Oh.
00:30:42It was interesting.
00:30:43Hello, Mrs. Carlson.
00:30:45What a wonderful idea, Emily.
00:30:47I'm so glad you think so.
00:30:49I forwarded your crowdfunding site to all my friends online.
00:30:52Great, thank you.
00:30:53Too bad for them, though.
00:30:54I just submitted the winning flavor.
00:30:56What is it?
00:30:57Candy Cane Swirl.
00:30:59Candy Cane's crunched up and swirled into strawberry ice cream.
00:31:03That does sound good.
00:31:04We'll make that the flavor of the day tomorrow.
00:31:06Well, then I shall be here tomorrow.
00:31:08Good.
00:31:09Good.
00:31:10I have a purchase case.
00:31:15Thanks.
00:31:16Have a good one.
00:31:18It's good.
00:31:24Hi.
00:31:25May I help you?
00:31:26Yeah, I'm looking for Emily White.
00:31:28Oh, um, who may I say is asking?
00:31:30Edgar Samuels.
00:31:31I have a proposition for her.
00:31:35Okay.
00:31:36Um, just a minute.
00:31:42Um, there's this guy at the counter who wants to talk to you about a business deal or something.
00:31:48Okay.
00:31:49Gotcha.
00:31:51Hi.
00:31:52Hi.
00:31:53I saw your crowdfunding site.
00:32:00Do you have a flavor idea?
00:32:01The suggestion box is on the counter.
00:32:03No, no, I don't want to submit a flavor.
00:32:06I want to submit an offer.
00:32:09Sorry, what?
00:32:10I want to buy your farm.
00:32:13The farm's not for sale.
00:32:16Ah, everything's for sale, Miss White.
00:32:18Not this farm.
00:32:19Listen.
00:32:24I appreciate the effort with the crowdfunding appeal.
00:32:27I do.
00:32:28I really do.
00:32:29But...
00:32:31I know when a farm is on the verge of bankruptcy and making one last desperation play.
00:32:37I'm not sure what you're talking about.
00:32:40I think you know exactly what I'm talking about.
00:32:42Look, your land is worth ten times what you get by selling to Dairy World.
00:32:50Thank you for stopping by, Mr. Samuels.
00:32:54But I'm not interested in selling to Dairy World or to anyone else.
00:32:58Perhaps you'll try our Christmas kiss flavor.
00:33:00That way your trip won't have been a complete waste of time.
00:33:02Miss White.
00:33:07You have my card.
00:33:09Let me know if you change your mind.
00:33:15Have a good day.
00:33:20Those are the farmers from Dairy World Consolidated.
00:33:23How long have they been here?
00:33:25A couple hours.
00:33:27How are you feeling about all this?
00:33:29Are you kidding?
00:33:30I feel terrible. My stomach's in knots.
00:33:35Are we gonna pull this off?
00:33:37We got a long way to go.
00:33:39That's what I was afraid of.
00:33:41I gotta get back to work.
00:33:43Good luck with old kind eyes.
00:33:50Hey.
00:33:51Hi.
00:33:53Well, that went well.
00:33:55They're very impressed with the operation.
00:33:56It's very encouraging.
00:33:57Look, I know you're not excited by the whole idea, but if push comes to shove, it'll be nice to know that the farm is in good hands.
00:34:05Right.
00:34:06Right.
00:34:07What's her?
00:34:08All right.
00:34:09I'm not at all.
00:34:11You're not even going for a nap.
00:34:16I'm not at all.
00:34:18You're sick.
00:34:19I'm not at all.
00:34:21You're not at all.
00:34:23I'm sorry.
00:34:24Can I give you a hand?
00:34:41Nope, I got it.
00:34:44Listen, about earlier.
00:34:47You don't need to explain. You have a job to do.
00:34:52Look, for what it's worth,
00:34:54I'm rooting for you.
00:34:56Thanks. Me too.
00:35:01Seriously, is there anything at all around here
00:35:03that I could help you with?
00:35:05I'm getting a little cooped up in my hotel.
00:35:10How are you with the Bosa?
00:35:14So you cut down a tree every year?
00:35:16One of the perks of living on a farm.
00:35:19I told Mom I'd cut a tree down for her.
00:35:21What do you mean for her? Isn't it for the both of you?
00:35:24Yeah. I guess.
00:35:27I don't know. I'm having trouble getting in the Christmas spirit this year.
00:35:30You could have fooled me.
00:35:32I saw you this morning at the counter.
00:35:33You seemed like you had plenty of Christmas cheer for all your customers.
00:35:37It seems like you really care about them.
00:35:39Well, they're not just customers.
00:35:40I've known most of them my entire life.
00:35:44My dad believed in giving back to the community,
00:35:46which is why I can't just get rid of this farm.
00:35:49Yeah, it's tough without him, huh?
00:35:50I miss him a lot.
00:35:55He seemed like he got into the Christmas spirit.
00:35:58How many Santas did he have?
00:36:01Over a hundred.
00:36:04He loved the way Christmas brought the whole family together.
00:36:08Everybody except for Dorothy.
00:36:10Things were different when we were kids.
00:36:13So you don't see much of her these days, even at Christmas time?
00:36:19We grew apart.
00:36:21I killed my dad when she moved to the city.
00:36:24My mom, too.
00:36:26It's a shame.
00:36:29And now she's back.
00:36:31Just in time to sell the farm.
00:36:33I just can't believe how busy the creamer has been.
00:36:56It's exciting.
00:36:57I think I scooped more ice cream today than I have in the entire year.
00:37:00Your idea is really working.
00:37:03It's not just my idea.
00:37:04It's Charlie's, too.
00:37:05It was so nice of him to help with the tree.
00:37:08You two seem to be getting along well.
00:37:10He's trying to sell the farm from under us.
00:37:15I love this one.
00:37:17I think I made this in, like, third grade.
00:37:19Yeah, you did.
00:37:20That was your father's favorite.
00:37:25But this one...
00:37:27This one is my favorite.
00:37:30Your father gave this to me on our 25th wedding anniversary.
00:37:35Hey, I just want to say thank you for a great day, and I'm headed back to the hotel.
00:37:51What are you doing for dinner, Mom?
00:37:53Honestly, I don't know.
00:37:54But I should get going, so...
00:37:56Oh, come on.
00:37:58Please stay.
00:38:00Emily has had far too much of my company for one day.
00:38:03Well, I haven't.
00:38:05It's not very often I meet a gentleman who enjoys my Santas as much as I do.
00:38:10I insist.
00:38:14Don't look at me.
00:38:15When she starts insisting, the only option is surrender.
00:38:20Okay.
00:38:22I'm in.
00:38:23I'm in.
00:38:24As long as you let me make dessert.
00:38:25You're going to love this.
00:38:37It's a special family recipe.
00:38:39To heck with that button-dup business persona.
00:38:42I think you found your true calling.
00:38:43Uh-oh.
00:38:45You caught me.
00:38:47Actually, this is great.
00:38:48I don't get to cook much at home.
00:38:50Why not?
00:38:52I'm busy.
00:38:53I work a lot.
00:38:54Too busy selling other people's farms?
00:38:57Emily.
00:38:59You know, mostly I do commercial real estate.
00:39:02Not a lot of family farms in the city.
00:39:05What are you making, anyway?
00:39:07You will see.
00:39:22Wow.
00:39:23That is beautiful.
00:39:25Grandma's mile-high apple pie.
00:39:27Absolutely beautiful.
00:39:30We can't have apple pie without the world's greatest vanilla ice cream.
00:39:35Apple pie a la mode.
00:39:37Nothing bad.
00:39:37That brings me back.
00:39:39That brings me back.
00:39:47The smell of the pie combined with the wood fire and the freshly cut tree.
00:39:53That's Christmas.
00:39:54Just like my grandma used to do it.
00:39:56With a hundred Santas watching.
00:39:58No.
00:39:59No.
00:39:59This pie is absolutely delicious.
00:40:06It is really good.
00:40:08What's your secret?
00:40:09Nope.
00:40:10I'm not going to tell.
00:40:11Kudos to the chef.
00:40:15May I say for the record?
00:40:16My pie and your ice cream are a match made in heaven.
00:40:24Well, you might be onto something.
00:40:27What?
00:40:27Apple pie ice cream.
00:40:29Like apple pie in the ice cream.
00:40:32Yes.
00:40:32Exactly.
00:40:33Come on.
00:40:37That was so delicious.
00:40:39You're more than welcome.
00:40:39You don't want to put the added ingredients in too soon or they get all minced up.
00:40:46If you want to keep it chunky, you add the last bit when there's just a couple of minutes
00:40:52left in the freezing process.
00:40:57So what happens next?
00:40:59We wait.
00:41:01Okay.
00:41:02I really think this could be a winner.
00:41:04That'd be ironic, huh?
00:41:06Your flavor is the one that saves the farm from my sister's plan.
00:41:08What's been the best so far?
00:41:13It's hard to say.
00:41:14There's been a lot of really creative entries.
00:41:16Here, come here.
00:41:21Oh, wow.
00:41:24Look at all these incredible flavors.
00:41:26Yeah.
00:41:26People have been pretty enthusiastic.
00:41:29And interesting.
00:41:31Fruitcake ice cream?
00:41:32I don't think that one's going to sell.
00:41:38You know, she's not a bad person.
00:41:42Who?
00:41:44Dorothy.
00:41:46I know.
00:41:47I know.
00:41:48I think she just doesn't quite get what the farm life means to me and mom.
00:41:53Even when we were kids, she couldn't wait to move to the city.
00:41:56She graduated and left right away.
00:42:00I could never imagine living somewhere else.
00:42:03You know, I grew up in family business as well.
00:42:06My dad used to always say business is business, but family is family.
00:42:12Take care of the ones you love.
00:42:13It's ready.
00:42:19It's ready.
00:42:32All right.
00:42:32Here's hoping yours is the winning flavor.
00:42:34Oh, oh, wow.
00:42:45Wow, that, that.
00:42:46Oh, that is like a Christmas flavor explosion.
00:42:52Oh.
00:42:53Mm.
00:42:54Quit hugging it.
00:42:55Hey, excuse me.
00:42:56You are going to have to wait in line with all the other customers.
00:42:59That's my pie.
00:43:00I have dips.
00:43:01Okay, fair.
00:43:02Oh, you can taste the flaky pie crust, brown sugar, cinnamon, apples, but there's, there's
00:43:13something else in there.
00:43:14What is that?
00:43:16Nut.
00:43:17Nutmeg.
00:43:18It's nutmeg, isn't it?
00:43:19No, I told you.
00:43:19I'm not going to tell.
00:43:22What do we call this?
00:43:24Apple pie?
00:43:25No, it's too simple.
00:43:27It's got to be about the feeling.
00:43:30Grandma's apple pie.
00:43:32Yeah, I mean, but it's got to be about the combination, like grandma's apple pie a la mode.
00:43:40That's too long, and it has to be about Christmas.
00:43:44Christmas a la mode.
00:43:47That's great.
00:43:47Yes.
00:43:48Wow.
00:43:49Thank you, Charlie.
00:43:59You're welcome.
00:44:03I think I'm going to need you to make a bunch more pots.
00:44:06I feel like this is going to be a big cellar.
00:44:08Yeah.
00:44:08I, um, I actually have to head back to the city in the morning, so.
00:44:14Oh.
00:44:18But I guess I could be a little bit late.
00:44:21If I get up first thing in the morning, I can go shopping.
00:44:23You know, for a guy who's trying to sell our farm, you're not half bad.
00:44:30You're not half bad yourself.
00:44:32morning.
00:44:37Morning.
00:44:42And I, um.
00:44:44I'm stopping the side by side.
00:44:47Fire's blowing, warm and dry.
00:44:49I'm waiting for you, baby.
00:44:53It's delicious.
00:44:54It's so yummy.
00:44:56Oh, every minute I'm pouring love on the radio, singing a song.
00:45:03They're singing, baby, baby, oh, it's Christmas time.
00:45:13Christmas, Christmas, baby, Christmas, baby.
00:45:20Christmas isn't Christmas without you.
00:45:28Christmas a la mode.
00:45:33I can't thank you enough for all your help.
00:45:36You're welcome.
00:45:37Let me know how it goes.
00:45:39I will.
00:45:41What?
00:45:44Get back safe.
00:45:47Bye.
00:45:48Bye.
00:45:50Then I hear your car beep, beep, beep, and your arms are full of gifts for me.
00:45:58And you say I miss you, baby.
00:46:01And now it lasts for Christmas Day.
00:46:04It's 100 FM The Pike.
00:46:06Chuck Perks here with Emily White from White's Ice Cream and the Christmas Ice Cream Flavor Contest.
00:46:12Christmas is in the air, Emily.
00:46:14Yeah, thank you so much for having me on.
00:46:16We've had a lot of really great submissions so far.
00:46:18Ebeneezer's Curmudgeon Crunch, Reindeer Run, Hot Toddy, Fruit Cake, which sounds terrible, but I promise it's really good.
00:46:26Mom.
00:46:26Mom, mom, mom, mom, mom.
00:46:28Come on.
00:46:28Look at this.
00:46:29Look at this.
00:46:30What?
00:46:30Oh, my God.
00:46:33That's so cute.
00:46:35Oh, that's an adorable picture of you.
00:46:38We're trying to raise money to save our dairy farm, and we thought that it'd be fun to encourage our customers to submit different ice cream flavor ideas that reminded them of the holiday season.
00:46:49Here you go.
00:46:55Merry Christmas.
00:46:56How are we doing on the swirl?
00:46:58We're low.
00:46:58Oh, no.
00:47:00That's it for the Christmas solo mode.
00:47:02Where's the rest of Charlie's pies?
00:47:03We went through a ton of them already.
00:47:05Seriously?
00:47:05We need more pies.
00:47:07Well, make them.
00:47:08I don't have Charlie's recipe.
00:47:09It seems regular recipe.
00:47:11No, no.
00:47:12The customers will be able to tell the difference.
00:47:13Can't fake that one.
00:47:14Okay.
00:47:15Call Charlie.
00:47:16I don't have his number.
00:47:17What?
00:47:19I guess I could call Dorothy, but that's awkward.
00:47:21Call her.
00:47:23Oh, man.
00:47:25I'm so sorry, everybody, but we are out of the Christmas a la mode.
00:47:30But we have lots of other delicious flavors.
00:47:36Hey, Dorothy.
00:47:37It's me, Emily.
00:47:39Well, hello, sister.
00:47:40You ready to sell?
00:47:42Charlie tells me negotiations with Dairy World are going well.
00:47:45No, and that's not why I'm calling.
00:47:48Is Charlie available?
00:47:50Why?
00:47:51He left something up here.
00:47:54Or rather, he took something back down there with him,
00:47:57and I just want to talk to him about it.
00:47:59Which is it?
00:48:00It doesn't matter.
00:48:01I just need to ask him about it and maybe have him send it up to me.
00:48:05Well, tell me what it is, and I'll ask him.
00:48:08No, I'd rather not.
00:48:10Can you just give me his number?
00:48:12I'm not sure I want to do that.
00:48:14Please, Dorothy, it's important.
00:48:16It must be, if you're calling me.
00:48:19Look, if you won't give me his number,
00:48:21will you just please have him call me?
00:48:23Please, out of the goodness of your heart?
00:48:28Who says there is any goodness in my heart?
00:48:30I'm just the evil sister who wants to sell the farm, remember?
00:48:34Dorothy, thanks for calling him.
00:48:36Make sure you call again next time you need something.
00:48:38Dorothy, what is the deal with this new offer?
00:48:49Are you...
00:48:50That was weird.
00:48:51What?
00:48:52Emily.
00:48:54She just called.
00:48:55Wanted to talk to you.
00:48:56Really, why?
00:48:58She wouldn't say except that you brought something back here to New York or something like that.
00:49:02It really wasn't clear.
00:49:03What happened up there after I left?
00:49:05I showed the buyers around.
00:49:07And had dinner with Emily and my mother.
00:49:09Yeah, well, that was nothing.
00:49:13Evidently not nothing.
00:49:14Yeah, but that's not important.
00:49:16What is the deal with this new offer?
00:49:17Why are you talking to real estate developers?
00:49:19I didn't go looking for another offer.
00:49:21They approached me.
00:49:22And if we have to sell anyway,
00:49:24it turns out the farm is worth ten times more as housing lots.
00:49:28Why would we turn that down?
00:49:29I thought the whole point was to leave the farm operating as a farm.
00:49:33What's the difference?
00:49:34Farm, houses, we don't own it anymore.
00:49:39I think your sister would have something to say about that.
00:49:54Hello?
00:49:56Emily, it's Charlie.
00:49:57Charlie, thank goodness.
00:49:59We are desperate here.
00:50:00Did Dorothy tell you I called?
00:50:01Yeah, she did.
00:50:02What's up?
00:50:02I need more pies.
00:50:04What?
00:50:06I made ten of them.
00:50:07I know.
00:50:08Oh, Christmas Alamo, it's very popular.
00:50:10I can't keep it in stock.
00:50:11Really?
00:50:12Well, that's great.
00:50:14Yeah.
00:50:14So I need your recipe.
00:50:17Oh, shoot, Emily, I'm sorry.
00:50:19I can't give that to you.
00:50:20Why not?
00:50:22Like I told you, it's a family recipe.
00:50:25So what?
00:50:26Well, it's kind of patented.
00:50:28What?
00:50:29Seriously?
00:50:30Look, you may want to Google search me and my family.
00:50:33I don't really care who your family is, Charlie.
00:50:36I have a ton of ice cream to make, and I need your recipe.
00:50:41Okay, look, I'll tell you what.
00:50:43I'll come up on Saturday and make some more.
00:50:48Really?
00:50:49You're not too busy courting buyers?
00:50:51Nope.
00:50:53Wide open.
00:50:53Wow.
00:50:56Um, okay, that's great.
00:51:00I'll see you Saturday.
00:51:02Great, I'll see you then.
00:51:09Wow.
00:51:09Gretchen, hey.
00:51:17Uh, yeah, it's Charlie.
00:51:18I, um, need you to clear my Saturday.
00:51:21Actually, why don't you clear the whole weekend?
00:51:23I know, I know.
00:51:25It's, it's just, this is really important.
00:51:31Blanchard Pies.
00:51:33They're in every grocery store across America.
00:51:35I believe they're in Canada as well.
00:51:37What the heck is he doing working with my sister?
00:51:40What the heck is he doing working at all?
00:51:42That's a good point.
00:51:44So, we could just buy the pies at the store?
00:51:48Yeah, but he's coming up this weekend.
00:51:51Oh, he is?
00:51:54Yeah.
00:51:56Huh.
00:52:06Hi.
00:52:08Hey.
00:52:09I did some research on you.
00:52:12So, you see my dilemma?
00:52:14Yes.
00:52:15And I have a lot of questions.
00:52:19We'll have plenty of time for that.
00:52:21We've got a lot of baking to do.
00:52:26That's a lot of stuff.
00:52:27A lot of pies.
00:52:30A lot of pies.
00:52:31You can't tell anybody about these pies and where they came from.
00:52:36Right.
00:52:38It's a recipe you found on the internet.
00:52:41Maybe you got the recipe from your great-grandma.
00:52:43She brought it across from the old country.
00:52:45Charlie.
00:52:47I get it.
00:52:47Okay.
00:52:48Okay.
00:52:50Hey, you need to cut those a little thinner, please.
00:52:53Okay.
00:52:54Slow down a minute.
00:52:56Your family owns the largest independent pie company in North America?
00:53:00Yeah.
00:53:02Owned.
00:53:02Sold it about five years ago.
00:53:05But your dad still runs it?
00:53:06Yeah.
00:53:07And why in the whole wide world are you working with my sister?
00:53:13You know, I was never really that enamored by the food business.
00:53:17I love real estate.
00:53:21Something intoxicating about, you know, bringing people together in a win-win and closing a deal.
00:53:28A win-win like us in Dairy World?
00:53:32You know, they're not all win-wins.
00:53:37Do you even still need to work?
00:53:41Yeah.
00:53:42Of course I do.
00:53:43I mean, sure, I'm a beneficiary of the family business, but I don't see a penny of that now.
00:53:49That's my dad and my brother's thing.
00:53:52Okay, next question.
00:53:55Shoot.
00:53:57Why'd you come up?
00:54:00Here.
00:54:03To help you make pies and put it in your ice cream?
00:54:08Exactly.
00:54:11You know, you needed my help, and it was the generous thing to do in the spirit of Christmas.
00:54:18Isn't you helping me a conflict of interest?
00:54:20I guess so.
00:54:25But, like I said, I like things to be win-wins, and I'm rooting for you.
00:54:32You know, you have a little...
00:54:35You get it?
00:54:50Yeah.
00:54:53Here you go.
00:54:54It was nice of Charlie to do all that baking for us.
00:54:56No, it wasn't Charlie.
00:54:57It was my great-grandmother from the old country, remember?
00:55:00Oh, right.
00:55:02Well, is great-grandma coming to the barn dance?
00:55:05Yes.
00:55:07How are we doing with the crowdfunding?
00:55:09Well, it depends on your perspective.
00:55:11Compared to other campaigns our size?
00:55:12We're doing great.
00:55:14Compared to our goal?
00:55:15We've got some work to do.
00:55:17We've raised $90,000.
00:55:19Plus, with our increased revenue recently, we're doing really well.
00:55:23It's just that we're running out of time.
00:55:25Exactly.
00:55:26Merry Christmas, everybody.
00:55:42We are so excited to be here with you folks tonight.
00:55:46Deck the halls with boughs of holly.
00:55:49Fa-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la.
00:55:52Tis the season to be jolly.
00:55:54Fa-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la.
00:55:58Oh, my gosh.
00:55:59Hey.
00:56:01This is amazing.
00:56:02Look at the turnout.
00:56:03Oh, my gosh.
00:56:04Yeah.
00:56:05Everybody came.
00:56:06Oh, the kiddos.
00:56:08Oh, my kids can't wait to show you the dance I made up to Jingle Bells.
00:56:11I wouldn't miss it for the world.
00:56:22Emily.
00:56:23Oh, my goodness.
00:56:24What a lovely party.
00:56:27I'm so glad you think so.
00:56:28Thanks for being here.
00:56:29I'm glad I could be, especially because I have something to tell you.
00:56:33Yes?
00:56:34Forget candy cane swirl.
00:56:36I'm going to vote for Christmas a la mode in the flavor contest.
00:56:40Whoever came up with that?
00:56:42Well, he's actually supposed to be here tonight.
00:56:45I will make sure to introduce you.
00:56:46Mm-hmm.
00:56:47Oh.
00:56:49Trey.
00:56:49Can I continue to have this dance?
00:56:51Of course.
00:56:57I'm hearing all sorts of good things about your ice cream contest.
00:57:00We've been very busy.
00:57:01That's great, because not to be a Scrooge, but the payments are due on your extension soon.
00:57:06I know, Ebeneezer.
00:57:08Okay.
00:57:09Okay.
00:57:09So, enough business.
00:57:11I love the video on your crowdfunding site.
00:57:14Oh, thank you.
00:57:15I made a donation, and I thought of a fun flavor.
00:57:19Creme brulee mocha.
00:57:22Ooh, that sounds delicious.
00:57:24A candied crunchy top and a soft, creamy filling?
00:57:27Yes, in a coffee base.
00:57:28Could be a winner.
00:57:35Charlie.
00:57:37Hi.
00:57:38How are you?
00:57:38Good.
00:57:40Everything okay?
00:57:42Yeah.
00:57:43Yeah, everything looks amazing.
00:57:45Who's Emily dancing with?
00:57:49Oh, Trey?
00:57:51He's been around forever.
00:57:53He was Dorothy's old boyfriend.
00:57:55They broke up after high school.
00:57:57Uh, what are you doing here, Trey?
00:57:59You never make it to the barn dance.
00:58:01Oh, no reason.
00:58:02I just thought I'd get out for the evening.
00:58:04So, is your sister coming?
00:58:07Dorothy doesn't like to milk cows in a barn, let alone dance in one.
00:58:11I thought I heard she was in town.
00:58:13She had to go back to the city.
00:58:15Oh.
00:58:15But I can give her your phone number.
00:58:17Oh, no, no.
00:58:18That's okay.
00:58:19I just thought it'd be nice to see her.
00:58:20And she'd like to see you, too.
00:58:24Charlie, thank you for giving her hope this Christmas.
00:58:29She needed that.
00:58:30She deserves it.
00:58:34Oh, no.
00:58:38Oh, no.
00:58:47You made it.
00:58:49Hi.
00:58:50Do you want to dance?
00:58:51I would love to.
00:58:52This is the most Christmas spirit I've felt in a long time.
00:59:22I mean, the bar looks beautiful.
00:59:26So do you.
00:59:33Maybe my luck's starting to turn around.
00:59:38I feel like you've got plenty of luck.
00:59:42I'm barely holding on to the dream that my father left me.
00:59:47It's not your dream?
00:59:49No, it...
00:59:51Of course it is.
00:59:52I just...
00:59:54I really want to save the farm.
00:59:58I'll make my father proud.
01:00:01He sounds like an amazing guy.
01:00:05I wish I'd had the chance to meet him.
01:00:09It really was.
01:00:09I miss him.
01:00:11I know.
01:00:14That's right.
01:00:18Oh, jeez.
01:00:19Oh, jeez.
01:00:20Oh, jeez.
01:00:23Oh, yeah.
01:00:23Oh.
01:00:24Oh, yeah.
01:00:25Oh.
01:00:27Oh, yeah.
01:00:28Em, oh, yeah.
01:00:31Oh, yeah.
01:00:32Oh, yeah, yeah.
01:00:33Oh, okay.
01:00:33Oh, yeah.
01:00:34Oh, really?
01:00:35Oh, yeah.
01:00:35Oh, yeah, yeah.

01:02:13how did i let myself fall for him
01:02:34you're only human and he's a charming man what did i think though he's some
01:02:43knight in shining armor who's gonna come in and save the day he's here to sell the farm it's
01:02:49simple as that but i think he has real feelings for you
01:02:52he's just concerned about closing the deal he wants a win-win
01:02:59well think about this for a minute
01:03:04what is this win-win scenario
01:03:07from our perspective dorothy gets her money and we get to keep the farm but i don't think they care
01:03:12about us keeping the farm i think there's a third win here i think dorothy gets her money
01:03:20we get the farm then you two get each other if he's working to make that deal what's his next play he's
01:03:29not he's made that clear i wouldn't be so sure about that
01:03:36i'm sorry we're closed miss white edgar samuels we uh we talked a week or so ago

01:04:10to cheek with mr blanchard last night i uh i just assumed that you're in on the deal what deal
01:04:18the deal with my competitor richardson development
01:04:23i don't know what you're talking about
01:04:24your sister's company is about ready to close a deal with richardson
01:04:30i wanted to see if you might entertain a counter offer
01:04:34they're not planning on selling to dairy world who
01:04:38the consolidated dairy farmers oh yeah i think the number they're discussing with richardson is
01:04:44going to be quite a bit higher than what they're going to get from a group of dairy farmers
01:04:47what is richardson planning on building a housing development you're talking about 50 lots
01:05:00are you kidding me no this could be a very merry christmas for you and your family this way
01:05:06thank you this has been a very enlightening conversation i'll let you know if anything changes
01:05:18please please do
01:05:31What am I going to do?
01:06:01We're not even close.
01:06:31Hi, I'm Emily White.
01:06:54A few weeks ago, I told you about our crowdfunding campaign to raise money so that we could expand
01:07:02and bring our delicious ice cream to a larger audience all across New England.
01:07:07And yes, I would love to expand.
01:07:13But first, I need to save our family farm.
01:07:16I was told that we were going to sell to a dairy consortium so that our land would at least still operate as a farm.
01:07:30That was a lie.
01:07:31Okay, we're going to lose our farm to a real estate developer that wants to turn our land into 50 house lots
01:07:38if I can't come up with the rest of our goal by the end of day Christmas Eve.
01:07:44That's 36 hours from now, less if you're watching tomorrow.
01:07:49My father graced us with this land and trusted us to farm it the way that it was meant to be farmed.
01:07:57This document says that I have the right to buy out my sister for her half of the assessed value of this land.
01:08:08We can do this, but we need your help.
01:08:15Please, please help me save our family farm.
01:08:21Did you tell her?
01:08:22No, but I should have.
01:08:25I have no idea how she found out about the deal with Richardson.
01:08:29I gotta tell you, I'm feeling really guilty about leaving her out of the loop right now.
01:08:34I don't like seeing her get hurt like this.
01:08:36What happened to family is family, but business is business.
01:08:41It's the other way around, Dorothy.
01:08:43It doesn't matter.
01:08:44There's no way she'll raise the money in one day.
01:08:47Nothing we did or didn't say to her can change that.
01:08:49We can do this, but we need your help.
01:09:02Please.
01:09:04Please help me save our family farm.
01:09:06I couldn't watch.
01:09:14What do you think?
01:09:16I think whatever happens, your father would be so proud of you.
01:09:24You've done everything you possibly could.
01:09:27And now you've put your heart out on your sleeve for the whole world to see.
01:09:32Yeah.
01:09:32Look.
01:09:44It's working.
01:09:45It's working.
01:09:45I'm here today at White's Farm, where Emily White is about to announce the winner of their
01:09:59Christmas ice cream flavor contest.
01:10:01So, Emily, who's the big winner?
01:10:03Well, there were a lot of really wonderful flavors, but the overwhelming winner was Christmas
01:10:08all a mode submitted by Charlie Blanchard of New York, New York.
01:10:12Congratulations, Charlie Blanchard.
01:10:14That must have been a big surprise.
01:10:16Not really.
01:10:17That flavor was incredibly popular.
01:10:19So much so is hard to keep up with the demand.
01:10:22Emily has gotten a lot of attention recently with her crowdfunding site and needs to raise
01:10:27$226,000 by close of business tomorrow, or this pastoral farm will become a housing development.
01:10:34If they make their goal, that would be one heck of a Christmas present.
01:10:38Yeah, it would.
01:10:40Please.
01:10:43Please help us save our family farm.
01:10:45For Charter TV 3 News, I'm Crystal Brown.
01:10:50We're clear.
01:10:51Thanks.
01:10:52Can I get a gallon of Christmas all a mode to go?
01:10:56Sure.
01:10:57Thanks.
01:11:03Thank you so much.
01:11:09Hi.
01:11:09What can I get for you?
01:11:11Uh, I'd love to try some of that Christmas all a mode.
01:11:13I hear wonderful things.
01:11:15It's pretty special.
01:11:18Uh, just a kitty-sized cone, please.
01:11:20Sure thing.
01:11:22I saw the story on the news.
01:11:24Gotta say I admire what you're doing.
01:11:26I owned a small family business once myself, so...
01:11:31I know how hard it can be.
01:11:34Thank you so much.
01:11:35That means a lot.
01:11:37Well, good luck to you.
01:11:39And Merry Christmas.
01:11:40Merry Christmas to you.
01:11:42Mm.
01:11:43Thanks.
01:11:44My mom will ring you up.
01:11:45Okay.
01:11:58Hey, Emily.
01:11:59What do you want?
01:12:01Could we talk, please?
01:12:03No, the time for talking's over.
01:12:05I'm busy.
01:12:05I have customers to serve.
01:12:07Look, it's not as it appears.
01:12:10Okay?
01:12:10Really?
01:12:11Because it appears as if you lied to me.
01:12:13It appears as if you and my sister never had any intention of saving this farmland.
01:12:17And it appears...
01:12:18Listen, I know.
01:12:19I know.
01:12:19Okay?
01:12:20Just let me explain.
01:12:26Fine.
01:12:27Fine.
01:12:27All right, explain.
01:12:38Although I don't know how you possibly can.
01:12:39There may not be an explanation that satisfies you.
01:12:46And I feel terrible about that.
01:12:48I didn't know about the offer from the housing developers until a couple of days ago.
01:12:51I tried to tell you.
01:12:53I should have told you.
01:12:53But I need you to know that being here on the farm has changed me.
01:13:03I see the simple beauty of a life outside the rat race of the city.
01:13:08I see the elegance of making a good product that customers enjoy.
01:13:15And I see you.
01:13:17A woman who works harder than anyone I've ever met.
01:13:21Who believes in a cause and a purpose and a legacy.
01:13:27Emily, I...
01:13:28I've fallen for you.
01:13:30And if my company's actions are unforgivable, then I will have to live with that for the rest of my life.
01:13:41Is that it?
01:13:45Yeah.
01:13:47That's all I got.
01:13:51Okay.
01:13:57Charlie.
01:13:57This farm means everything to me.
01:14:04I'm sorry that it took you so long to see why.
01:14:11Merry Christmas.
01:14:18Merry Christmas.
01:14:23How's old kind eyes?
01:14:26Don't ask.
01:14:27Who's next?
01:14:46Hello.
01:14:47Hey, Gloria.
01:14:48Merry Christmas.
01:14:49Come in for a sec.
01:14:49Oh.
01:14:50I...
01:14:51I can't stay.
01:14:51I gotta get back to the kids.
01:14:53They're all wired about Santa coming tomorrow night.
01:14:55All right, well...
01:14:57Come say hi.
01:15:01Mom, look who's here.
01:15:03Oh, Merry Christmas, Gloria.
01:15:05Merry Christmas, Santa.
01:15:06Thank you for stopping by.
01:15:08Oh, can you just sit for a minute?
01:15:10Would you like a glass of wine?
01:15:12Oh, no thank you.
01:15:13No wine for me.
01:15:14I left the kids with my husband in there, bouncing off the walls.
01:15:17Oh, wonderful.
01:15:18Nothing brings out the joy of Christmas like children.
01:15:20She brought us a little something.
01:15:23Go ahead.
01:15:24Open it.
01:15:25Ooh.
01:15:30Oh, cute.
01:15:32Well, I figured you could never have enough Santas.
01:15:35You are so right.
01:15:40This is for you.
01:15:42What?
01:15:42You shouldn't have.
01:15:44You've given me so much.
01:15:52Super scooper.
01:15:56How fun.
01:16:00There's a card, too.
01:16:01No, Emily.
01:16:15Susan.
01:16:16I promised you'd get to Orlando.
01:16:20This is way too generous.
01:16:22With the deadline approaching, you need every penny.
01:16:25I can't accept it.
01:16:27You can, and you will.
01:16:28The deadline is what the deadline is, but a promise is a promise.
01:16:32Besides, we couldn't have done any of this without you.
01:16:35I love you guys.
01:16:41Right back at you.
01:16:43Merry Christmas.
01:16:44Merry Christmas.
01:16:58Hey, Dad.
01:17:05Merry Christmas.
01:17:10Tomorrow is a big day, and I just want you to know that
01:17:13no matter what happens,
01:17:17I tried as hard as I could.
01:17:27We're still a ways away from that Christmas miracle.
01:17:33And it might just be too far for us to reach.
01:17:39But
01:17:39it's not too late, right?
01:17:45I'm not crazy for still holding out hope, am I?
01:17:57Hey.
01:18:01Oh, Daddy.
01:18:06Oh, I love you so much.
01:18:08Hey.
01:18:10Hey.
01:18:10Hey.
01:18:15Thank you for your faith in me.
01:18:24I will make you proud, I promise.
01:18:31I still don't know how, but
01:18:33I'm going to save this farm.
01:18:35Oh, we just got another hundred.
01:18:47That brings us to
01:18:49three hundred and twelve thousand four hundred and fifty.
01:18:55Who are we kidding?
01:18:56It was twenty-five minutes to raise ninety-thousand dollars.
01:19:01There's no way.
01:19:02We're done.
01:19:12Whoops!
01:19:13There's another thousand.
01:19:14Gloria.
01:19:16You shouldn't have done that.
01:19:18That's for your kids.
01:19:18Listen, Gary and I talked to the kids last night,
01:19:21and we all agreed we would much rather have the farm than a week in Orlando.
01:19:27I consider it the best investment I've ever made.
01:19:37Oh, look.
01:19:39It's the Grim Reaper and her henchmen.
01:19:44Thanks for coming, Trey.
01:19:45My pleasure.
01:19:46Where's Charlie?
01:19:47Who knows?
01:19:48Who cares?
01:19:49You do, sweetheart.
01:19:50No, Mom.
01:19:51I really don't.
01:19:52Not right now.
01:19:56Hello, Emily.
01:19:57Mom.
01:19:59And you must be Gloria.
01:20:00I've heard so much about you.
01:20:02This is Mr. Collins, my lawyer.
01:20:04And I've asked Trey to be here as a representative of the bank.
01:20:08Emily.
01:20:09Susan, I'm so sorry about all this.
01:20:11It's just the bank.
01:20:12It's fine, Trey.
01:20:13It's not your fault.
01:20:15Where's Charlie?
01:20:17I thought he'd be here with you.
01:20:19I hear he's been spending quite a lot of time here on the farm.
01:20:23You can sign right here.
01:20:33What?
01:20:36What?
01:20:38We just got a $100,000 donation?
01:20:41What?
01:20:42Let me see.
01:20:43Look.
01:20:44$100,000.
01:20:45That's impossible.
01:20:46It's not impossible.
01:20:49It's a miracle.
01:20:51Gloria, who's it from?
01:20:54It's anonymous.
01:20:56That puts us over our goal.
01:20:58What?
01:20:59You can buy her out.
01:21:00You can buy her out.
01:21:04Oh my gosh!
01:21:12I have a delivery of 500 mile high apple pies for a Miss Emily White.
01:21:19I'm Emily White.
01:21:20I know.
01:21:21Sign there, please.
01:21:22The rest are out in the trunk.
01:21:23Mr. Blanchard?
01:21:24I don't know what to say.
01:21:25I see you got the donation.
01:21:26Yes.
01:21:27I don't know what to say.
01:21:28I see you got the donation.
01:21:29Yes.
01:21:30And it was the Christmas miracle we were hoping for.
01:21:32Hey, you met my dad.
01:21:33Yes.
01:21:34It's nice to officially meet you.
01:21:35I see you got the donation.
01:21:36Yes.
01:21:37And it was the Christmas miracle we were hoping for.
01:21:38Hey.
01:21:39You met my dad?
01:21:40Yes.
01:21:56It's nice to officially meet you in person.
01:22:00Now, the pleasure is all mine.
01:22:04All mine.
01:22:06Like I said, I once had a small family business myself.
01:22:10Not so small anymore.
01:22:13No.
01:22:14Let me put these in the back.
01:22:23My dad and I thought that Blanchard Pies and White Farm
01:22:26could make a great partnership.
01:22:31Well, win-win.
01:22:32If you'll have us,
01:22:34if you'll have me.
01:22:39We'll have you.
01:22:41Won't we, Mom?
01:22:52Dorothy.
01:22:54I'm sorry that you never appreciated the beauty in this farm.
01:22:58It was Dad's dream and his legacy,
01:23:00and I promised to take care of it
01:23:03so we could pass it on to the next generation.
01:23:07And now we can do that.
01:23:10I'll have a cashier's check for you the day after Christmas.
01:23:13Would that be okay, Trey?
01:23:14We'll be open.
01:23:15That's fine.
01:23:17I didn't think my farm girl, Sis, could pull it off.
01:23:23I never wanted to sell the farm, Em.
01:23:25I just, I didn't want us to lose it.
01:23:29You found a way to save it,
01:23:31and I'm proud of you.
01:23:32Really, I am.
01:23:36But the house lots, you could have made millions.
01:23:40Business is business, but family is family.
01:23:45Charlie taught me that.
01:23:47Can you stay for Christmas?
01:23:50I should really be getting back to the city.
01:23:52How about you, Trey?
01:23:53Will you join us for Christmas dinner?
01:23:54I'd be delighted.
01:23:58Well, maybe I could hang around for a couple days.
01:24:02Wonderful.
01:24:04It'd be nice to have you home.
01:24:24I've never held a check this large before.
01:24:44Think of it as a gift to your father.
01:24:47That's exactly what it is.
01:24:49It's not a bad Christmas gift to me, either.
01:24:54What are you going to spend it on?
01:24:56I've had my eye on a little vacation home on the Cape.
01:24:58I love the Cape.
01:25:00Well, you'll have to come visit.
01:25:03You all will.
01:25:06I, uh, I got you a gift.
01:25:17Happy cow's ice cream.
01:25:19It has a nice ring to it.
01:25:21Yeah, it does.
01:25:22Do you like it?
01:25:23I mean, I had my designer do it up.
01:25:26If you don't like it, then we could just change it.
01:25:28It's fine.
01:25:35It's perfect.
01:25:37Merry Christmas.
01:25:39Merry Christmas.
01:25:39Merry Christmas.
01:25:39It's Christmas morning, and faces young and gray.
