00:02The Knicks are being disrespected everywhere.
00:04A Spurs star says San Antonio is better.
00:07Vegas has the Spurs favored by six and a half.
00:11And we're naming names.
00:12A no-good turncoat New Yorker has turned on the Knicks.
00:18Shine Time sucks right now.
00:20Don't stop.
00:21Keep it coming, baby.
00:24Don't stop.
00:28I am so fired up.
00:30So fired up about Game 2 of the NBA Finals tonight.
00:32I'm going to get into all my game analysis and picks and predictions and parlays coming up in a bit.
00:38But honestly, the fans have quickly stolen some of the spotlight, rightly so when it comes to this series.
00:44But I never expected this, a Sesame Street character, to become public enemy number one in New York City.
00:54I've got to call it out.
00:55I need everyone to take a look at this tweet from that self-serving loser fraud.
01:04Elmo, my goodness.
01:07Elmo hopes both teams have fun?
01:10Get the hell out of here.
01:12Both teams have fun?
01:14You loser.
01:16Elmo, you're a native New Yorker.
01:19And I don't want to air Sesame Street at some random fictional location.
01:24It's in Manhattan, New York City.
01:29You want both teams to have fun?
01:32Go move to San Antonio.
01:35You think Mr. Hooper is going to have a store in Texas?
01:39Who the hell do you think you are?
01:41Needless to say, Nick's Twitter, not happy with Elmo.
01:46I mean, my goodness.
01:49He was criticized by Nick's fans, fanatics from all five boroughs and beyond.
01:56And let me tell you something, okay?
01:58Coward is right.
02:00Elmo is a coward.
02:02He always has been a coward.
02:03He's always been a loser.
02:05He has been a self-seeking, attention-grabbing, power-hungry fraud forever.
02:15That's Elmo.
02:16And I've been ahead of the curve on this, okay?
02:18My kids were raised on Sesame Street.
02:22I was raised on Sesame Street.
02:25If I had to make a sports comparison when it comes to Elmo, he's Alex Rodriguez.
02:31No one likes to insert themselves more into a conversation, hey, look at me, more than A-Rod.
02:39That's Elmo.
02:41I mean, please, no Yankee fan, when you start thinking of the greats, thinks of A-Rod, right?
02:47Nobody does that.
02:49And A-Rod has forever been jealous, jealous of Andy Pettit, jealous of Mariano Rivera, jealous, obviously, of Derek Jeter,
02:58jealous of Jorge Posada and Paul O'Neal and Bernie Williams and Tito Martinez, the real Yankees.
03:08Even C.C. Sabathia, who's getting his number, retired.
03:11A-Rod doesn't deserve a plaque.
03:13A-Rod doesn't deserve a monument.
03:16But A-Rod will say dumb things and inject himself into the court of public opinion.
03:21Let me tell you something.
03:22Here's what you need to ask yourself, Elmo.
03:25What would Oscar do?
03:27What would Ernie do?
03:28What would Bert do?
03:31Let me tell you something.
03:32Cookie Monster, that's a real Sesame Street character, okay?
03:36Elmo, look at this guy.
03:38He's shrugging his shoulders.
03:40Have a take, Elmo.
03:41Have an opinion.
03:43I mean, what do you even stand for?
03:45I know what Count Dracula stands for.
03:47I know what he's all about.
03:49I know what Gordon stands for.
03:51I know what Snuffleupagus stands for.
03:53What do you stand for?
03:55Look at this.
03:56Look at it.
03:57I want the real Grover.
03:59That's a real character.
04:01That's a real Sesame Street character.
04:04That's a real New Yorker.
04:05You think there's any ambiguity on who Grover's rooting for?
04:09Do you think Big Bird was taken to social media to say, I hope both teams have fun?
04:16Please.
04:17I mean, look at this.
04:18He plants himself.
04:19Go back to that picture for a second, guys.
04:21Look at Elmo.
04:22Look at this.
04:23Right smack dab in the middle.
04:26Please.
04:27Get it off the screen, guys.
04:29I can't look at this loser anymore.
04:32Can't do it.
04:33I mean, and everyone in New York is pissed.
04:36I mean, it's almost like Elmo had this look at me moment.
04:41I mean, I've been saying this forever, okay?
04:44And I am a Sesame Street enthusiast.
04:48Elmo's a self-serving clown.
04:50Elmo is everything that is wrong with society.
04:54And honestly, don't you dare, Elmo.
04:57Don't you dare, after the Knicks win a title, don't, at the end of the day, start getting on the
05:04bandwagon, okay?
05:05Grover's invited to the parade, okay?
05:08The Counts, Dracula, at the parade.
05:11Snuffleupagus at the parade.
05:13Ernie and Bert, legends, okay?
05:16That's like Willis and Clyde.
05:19They're at the parade.
05:20You?
05:21You stay away.
05:22You stay away.
05:23Elmo, you're a loser.
05:25You always have been.
05:27And I got to tell you, it's always bothered me, okay?
05:30My oldest daughter, who's graduating high school, she loved Elmo, okay?
05:35Elmo's a loser fraud.
05:36And I've said this forever.
05:38It always drove me nuts when the kids, the girls, would gravitate towards Elmo, okay?
05:45Tickle me, Elmo, please.
05:47Riddle me this.
05:48You have no takes.
05:50You're not, you don't have a soul, okay?
05:53I mean, please.
05:54Was Elmo rooting for Patrick Ewing?
05:56What are we doing here?
05:58Elmo was getting bashed left and right.
06:01Elmo had to take back the social media and kind of do the fake apology.
06:08Oh, didn't mean to spur you on.
06:11Funny guy, that Elmo.
06:13All sorts of laughs.
06:15All sorts of yuck yucks.
06:16Get out of here.
06:18I can't believe.
06:19Honestly, nothing pisses me off more than, everyone's fired up about this.
06:24Every native New Yorker.
06:26I mean, go to Jill Cardman, her Insta story.
06:28It's all nonstop people ripping Elmo.
06:31This matters.
06:33New York is bonding.
06:34You got Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick and their kids.
06:38They're all out in a Knicks bar watching the game.
06:42Chris Rock is fired up.
06:43Timothee Chalamet is in the post and he's icing his legs because as a fan, you know, it's taking a
06:49toll on him.
06:50Ben Stiller's fired up.
06:52Everyone's fired.
06:53And Elmo is making New Yorkers look bad.
06:56That's it.
06:57I mean, I'm sick of this.
06:59And then don't try and half-ass this, Elmo.
07:01You're a loser fraud.
07:03Look at this clown.
07:05Look at this clown.
07:06I mean, my goodness.
07:08And I love Sesame Street.
07:09I love Sesame Street.
07:11Sesame Street has important lessons.
07:13This is the newest lesson.
07:15You're a loser.
07:17Anything Elmo has said in the history of Elmo now means nothing.
07:22I mean, it's like you have that one moment, right?
07:25He Bill Bucknered this whole thing.
07:27Bill Buckner was a hell of a hitter, right?
07:29Bill Buckner didn't deserve the scrutiny.
07:30Frankly, it was John McNamara's fault.
07:32Should have gotten him out of the game.
07:33We all know that.
07:34But everyone now thinks Bill Buckner blowing the World Series, right?
07:37Blowing game six.
07:38Mookie's ground ball goes through his legs.
07:41Elmo will never live this down.
07:43Never live this down.
07:44That's it.
07:45Elmo's dead to me.
07:45I'm just telling you right now.
07:47Elmo is dead to me.
07:49Elmo is a loser fraud.
07:50Always has been.
07:52I've been waiting for this moment for this self-centered clown to be exposed.
07:58I better not see you on the streets, Elmo, rocking an Anthony Mason jersey.
08:03I better not see you start talking about Jalen Brunson as the goats.
08:09You're not welcome in these parts anymore, Elmo.
08:13Speaking of terrible fans.
08:15All right now, six-point Nick Lee.
08:18A fan just ran on the floor.
08:21Wants to take a selfie.
08:23Security quickly takes him away.
08:27Crowd gives him the appropriate boo.
08:32You saw the security guard in pursuit.
08:35Mitchell Robinson like, what's this dude doing?
08:38Victor, kind of a strange situation there at the end with the fan running up to you.
08:42Have you been in that situation before during a game?
08:44What was going through your head?
08:46And did you smile for the picture?
08:48I've never been in that situation.
08:50I didn't know how to act.
08:53It really surprised me almost as much as that time where a bat crushed the court.
08:57The fan who stormed the court during game one of the finals, taking a selfie with Victor
09:02Ombriyama, was arrested after the incident.
09:04He's going to be banned for life from all league arenas.
09:07This, according to an NBA spokesperson, who added that a second individual is also going
09:12to receive a lifetime ban for his role in this ultra-stupid and dangerous stunt.
09:19Let me tell you something.
09:20This bothered me, right?
09:22There's nothing funny about this.
09:23This is not a laughing matter.
09:25Look at the expression on Mitchell Robinson's face, right?
09:29And Mitch is an ultimate tough guy.
09:32This is nerve-wracking.
09:34And I want to give the NBA credit here for not messing around.
09:37This is not anything to just have a, you know, a minor punishment.
09:43Lifetime ban is it.
09:45Like, that's it.
09:46This is not at the end of the day, and I know one of the two individuals, juvenile,
09:50I don't care if they become a model citizen.
09:53Let them go on and have a wonderful life.
09:55They're never allowed another NBA arena again.
09:57Because this needs to be a message sent.
10:00Just because you have a ticket, you don't get a license to be a jackass.
10:04And honestly, sports, arenas, you know, fans, you're rooting for your team,
10:09you're booing the other team, that's fine.
10:11But to do something like this, and by the way, if you remember, interrupted play.
10:17They had to gather the coaches have a jump ball because the players were spooked.
10:21That's a dangerous situation.
10:23And you're attempting a selfie, and I know we live in this social media,
10:27look-at-me culture.
10:29I mean, what the hell is that?
10:30What goes through your mind to be such a certified sicko to do something like this?
10:37And I want to just stress this.
10:40This ban is going to halt.
10:41And I hope that every single human being who's a sports fan or in society
10:46realizes this is what's going to happen if, in fact, you do this.
10:49And you act like an absolute dangerous, lunatic jackass, and you run onto the court.
10:55And if I was that security guard, I would have Sean Taylor'd his ass.
10:58I would have LT'd his ass.
11:00I would have absolutely knocked him into submission.
11:03Seriously.
11:04Like, that's...
11:05That was dangerous.
11:07And what I love about the ban is, you know, obviously you have the facial recognition
11:11to get into most arenas, social security numbers.
11:14Also, I think it'll help prevent people from, at the end of the day,
11:19giving their tickets to these cats who are banned.
11:22Because, you know, you also will get stripped of your tickets for life.
11:28You will get banned if you end up selling to these idiots.
11:32And frankly, you know, if I'm one of these guys, you know, I got bigger fish to fry with the
11:37rest of my life
11:38because you're going to get arrested and thrown in jail for a significant period of time if you violate this
11:42ban.
11:43So, that really bothered me from game number one.
11:46And this lifetime ban was absolutely positively deserved.
11:50And then, of course, we had the fan who Jalen Brunson took issue with at the end of game number
11:54one at the Frostbank Center.
11:57Now, one of the great playoff runs in NBA history is still alive.
12:02What a winning streak.
12:05Brunson with 30 points.
12:08Having some words for somebody who looks like behind the scores table, not one of the scores, a fan.
12:14There was a bit of an interaction with the fan at the end of the game yesterday.
12:17It was something sad that, you know, maybe crossed the line.
12:21I'm all good about talking about that.
12:23I'm all good.
12:25NBA is investigating a couple of fans who allegedly made profane comments toward Brunson.
12:30And the New York Post confirmed that story.
12:32And this was obviously at the end of the game.
12:35And I'll tell you something.
12:36I give Brunson credits, right?
12:38You know, he doesn't want to add fuel to the fire.
12:41But his reaction, and Jalen Brunson is the epitome of class, obviously.
12:47And, you know, there have been Internet sleuths who have been trying to figure this out.
12:51And, you know, for Brunson to have that kind of reaction, that is deplorable.
12:58You can't just say anything.
12:59You want to say, you know, great game, bad game.
13:01And he's clearly listening and the fans are still going.
13:04Let me tell you something.
13:06Brunson, I'm not against a lifetime ban here, too.
13:09I want to see what was said.
13:11I want to hear what was said.
13:12But there should be a penalty as well.
13:14Again, you know, you want to give it to an opposition's player, that's fine, right?
13:19Like, I get that.
13:20I'm not going to act like I wasn't, you know, ever a fan in the stands saying, you know,
13:24bad game, right?
13:25Or booing someone.
13:27But that's it.
13:28You don't get personal.
13:29You don't get stupid.
13:30You don't get below the belt.
13:32And I love that Brunson went right back in the face of that fan after a win, after he
13:37cooked the San Antonio Spurs in that ballgame.
13:40So, listen, I, at the end of the day, I hope the NBA does something about this.
13:45And I hope the NBA, at the end of the day, make sure that those fans are not allowed back.
13:50I would like to see them suspended for the rest of this postseason, suspended for at
13:55least next year.
13:56And if they want to give them a lifetime ban, do that, too.
13:59Because just, again, just because you purchased a ticket, it doesn't give you a free pass
14:04and a license to be a jackass.
14:07The Spurs, despite blowing a 14-point second-half lead, maintain they are not faced entering
14:13tonight's critical game two in San Antonio.
14:16What are you kicking yourself about, personally, the most about tonight?
14:19Uh, nothing.
14:22It's, uh, obviously, I mean, it's not a, we've been down in a series before, never in
14:26the finals, obviously.
14:29But I'm not kicking myself about anything, really.
14:32I mean, I'm not worried the slightest.
14:33I mean, I think Vic said it best.
14:35Um, I don't think we have anything to be too worried about.
14:38I mean, obviously, we feel like we're the better team.
14:41And we didn't play well.
14:42We still had a chance to win.
14:44So, uh, I mean, yeah, if we take one thing from that, just, just going back to being
14:49ourselves and, um, you know, focusing on the right things.
14:53So, I love Stephon Castle.
14:56And I think he's a winner.
14:58I think he's a terrific player.
15:00I thought his game one was pretty nondescript.
15:02So, I'm not going to go full Kenny Atkinson on him, right, in terms of what Atkinson said
15:10when they were down 0-3.
15:11Analytically, we're up 2-1.
15:12I do admire the self-confidence.
15:15And, look, Vegas obviously agrees that, you know, the Spurs were favored before game
15:18one, favored to win the series.
15:20And San Antonio winning tonight for a lot of people is conventional wisdom.
15:24And the Spurs have dealt with adversity all here.
15:27Let's just jogged them at the Rolodex back to the Western Conference Finals.
15:31They were down 3-2, and they've thrown the champs and won on the MVP's home floor.
15:36So, I admire the self-confidence.
15:38Would I have said out loud that we're the better team?
15:40No.
15:40Do I think that captured the Knicks' attention?
15:43I do.
15:44Do I expect the Knicks to come out, led by Jalen Brunson, playing tonight in the beginning
15:49of this game like their hair is on fire, and they think that they are the team that
15:53needs to win this game?
15:55Absolutely.
15:56Because the Knicks, I feel like, even with those comments from Castle, the Knicks are
16:02being disrespected.
16:04It's Jalen Brunson and the Knicks who have won 12 straight games.
16:08They're on an all-time heater.
16:1012 straight playoff games.
16:12The last time the Knicks lost a basketball game, the big story in sports was Ty Simpson.
16:16Now, the big story in the NFL is Miles Garrett's getting traded to the ramps.
16:21I mean, it's kind of crazy when you think about how long it's been.
16:24Not to mention, their plus-minus is plus 272.
16:28It's the best in the postseason in the 80-year history of the damn league.
16:32And I expect Jalen Brunson, who instantly, after that Brunson burner, 13 of his 30, in
16:37the fourth quarter in game number one, Brunson instantly went to Lisa Salters for the first
16:43post-game interview and said, he didn't play well.
16:46And he's right.
16:47And I expect Jalen Brunson to play better.
16:51I think McHale Bridges will play better.
16:54I think the New York Knicks have a golden opportunity tonight to ultimately put a major, major hurt
17:01on the San Antonio Spurs and their chances.
17:03There are only two teams in the history of the NBA, in the NBA Finals, who have lost the
17:10first two games in the NBA Finals at home.
17:12And both those teams lost a championship and did not bounce back.
17:17So, because of Wemby, I refuse to say that a series would be over if, in fact, the Knicks
17:26won tonight.
17:26But obviously, they have a golden opportunity to make a major dent in the Spurs' plans.
17:32I think that you're going to see Victor Wemba-Nyama play much better tonight.
17:36I think it's absolutely fair to say that Wemby had the worst game of his entire postseason,
17:43one of the worst games of his career, when you consider the fact that he only made six
17:47field goals, six of 21.
17:49He only took nine shots in the paint.
17:51That is absolutely unacceptable.
17:53Wemby has no excuse, in my opinion.
17:56I talked to the great Shaquille O'Neal on my SiriusXM radio show today, and he said,
18:00I don't want to hear about tired.
18:01He's 22 years old.
18:03Look, credit the Knicks.
18:04Credit Carl Anthony Towns.
18:06I mean, let's be honest here.
18:07You know, I think you'll see even more O'Jana Noby and even more Josh Hart.
18:11There are some different looks at Wemby.
18:12I'm sure Mitch Johnson's going to try really hard to make sure, and Castle here, too,
18:17to make sure that Wemby gets looks down low and gets looks in the paint.
18:20I expect Castle to play better.
18:23But why are people still doubting the Knicks?
18:27Like, that's what I don't really understand.
18:30Twelve straight wins for this team.
18:32And how about the way the others for the Knicks have played?
18:35We're going to look at Alvarado, and you're looking at Anovi, and you take a look at Landry
18:39Shamit.
18:40And honestly, when you look at someone, those reserves, like Shamit is a perfect example,
18:45right, at this stage, are you surprised?
18:48Like, he's always been a Mike Brown favorite.
18:51Steph Bondi from the Post has been all over this from day one since Malcolm Brogdon retired.
18:55I expect Shamit to play well.
18:57I think O'Jana Noby, and the point total was good.
18:59I think he was relatively quiet.
19:01And I thought Alvarado had hero kind of minutes when you take a look at what he was able to
19:05accomplish during the moments where Jalen Brunson was injured and or ineffective in the
19:11first half and the second quarter specifically on Wednesday night in game.
19:15So, I think you're going to see a terrific, terrific effort by the Knicks early playing
19:22like their hair is on fire.
19:24And how about Mitchell Robinson?
19:26Mitchell Robinson was awesome, in my opinion, in game one.
19:29And for all the conversation, the consternation about Mitch, right, he broke his hands.
19:34And that's how Steph Bondi from the Post framed it to us.
19:37We're going to keep saying that.
19:39He broke his hand.
19:40It's not just, you know, a broken pinky.
19:41And for Mitch to step in and give the Knicks vintage Mitchell Robinson minutes and not exacerbate
19:48the injury, that's a big deal.
19:50He was a dog off the bench.
19:52And his effort, he couldn't dunk.
19:54Let's be crystal clear about that.
19:56But he's not a great offensive player anyway.
19:57I thought that was a really good thing.
20:00I would expect that you're going to see more Dylan Harper tonight.
20:03I think that Dylan Harper was the best player on the floor in the first quarter.
20:07And then Mitch Johnson, Spurs fans were saying, Mitch, please.
20:11The fact that De'Aaron Fox, and I love Fox, Fox was getting the run in the fourth quarter
20:16as opposed to Dylan Harper.
20:18Harper, if you're a Spurs fan, has to play.
20:20Absolutely has to play in the fourth quarter.
20:22And I love Fox.
20:23He couldn't hit the broad side of a barn.
20:25Fox has not been 100% this entire postseason in terms of his injuries and just where he is
20:31physically right now.
20:33So Mitch Johnson has to make those adjustments.
20:36And I know that when you look at it, it's pretty obvious that San Antonio has a ton of confidence.
20:42And I get it.
20:44And they should.
20:45But I just think there is this crazy disrespect right now when it comes to the Knicks,
20:52which boggles the mind.
20:54Is it because of what the Knicks were 10 years ago?
20:57Is it because, you know, San Antonio with Wemby, you just expect freakish kind of results?
21:02I respect the hell out of the Spurs.
21:04I said the Knicks would win the championship before game one.
21:07I said the Knicks would win a championship in the middle of the postseason.
21:10I picked them to the finals at every single measuring points, preseason, middle of the
21:14season, before the playoffs.
21:15I mean, how could you look at the Knicks and not believe it's their time to shine?
21:21No one in the history of the NBA is hotter in the postseason.
21:24So the Knicks are going to be satisfied with the splits on the road.
21:28How does the mindset change after the huge game one win?
21:34Let's ask Carl Anthony Towns.
21:35Jared Schwartz, the New York Post.
21:36You know, the difference between leaving here at 1-1 and 2-0, you know, knowing that they've
21:40come back in a few series already, how important is it to not give them, you know, any hope
21:45or any momentum and kind of putting your foot down here and taking that 2-0 lead?
21:49I mean, for me, I don't think of anything like that.
21:52At the 1-1 and 2-0, I just think it's 0-0.
21:54And the next game is the most important game of the year.
21:56So just continue to stay in the present, not worry about what the future may look like,
22:01not worry about what we've done in the past, just cancel all that out and just worry about
22:05the present.
22:06Tomorrow we step on the court.
22:07Should be the same determination, desperation, energy level, and physicality needed for a
22:13game one win.
22:15Phenomenal question by Jared Schwartz of the Post, an even better answer.
22:19And I think Carl Anthony Towns, and I said this before the series started, he is absolutely
22:25the most important player without question for the New York Knicks.
22:29And I thought he was the best player in game number one.
22:32And somehow, you know, the line for game one was the Spurs favored by four and a half.
22:38Literally, this is the line right now, six and a half.
22:42How does that number balloon from four and a half after the Knicks win to six and a half?
22:47And I'm sure, you know, the bookmakers are thinking, okay, well, Wemby bounces back and
22:52Wemby has a great ability to play his best when it matters the most.
22:55Take a look at what he did in the OKC series.
22:58But I think this is crazy, absolutely crazy.
23:02And, you know, we've nailed the last couple of back-to-back Shine Time parlays.
23:07Hit Carolina and Seth Jarvis scoring a goal.
23:10You're welcome, America and Canada.
23:11That was a tasty parlay last night.
23:13Never a doubt.
23:14And we hit it, obviously, with that big parlay for game number one here on Shine Time with
23:19Cat 18 or more for the points.
23:21He had 18.
23:22Brunton points, rebounds, assists, and he had 35-plus.
23:26He had 35.
23:27And the Knicks on the money line.
23:28I'm not giving you a parlay for tonight.
23:31I'm giving you Knicks money line at plus 185.
23:35And it was not necessarily my intention before the series started to pick the Knicks to win
23:41both games.
23:42My original thought was the Knicks would split, take game one, not take game number two.
23:48But I think how the Knicks took game one was impressive.
23:53And, frankly, I think the Knicks have a whole other level.
23:56And I've just, I've been so impressed with Cat in terms of his play and his mentality.
24:03And that line right there that he just gave in that clip to Jared Schwartz of the New York Post
24:09during his press conference on the heels of what he said to the inside the NBA guys and watching him
24:16play and how dominant he's been.
24:18And that third quarter he had and the incredible sound that we heard from ESPN ABC in-game where Cat
24:26was really imploring his team to keep the intensity going, happy with the defense, the offense.
24:32They would be able to make some shots.
24:34So, I really thought at the end of the day and think at the end of the day, thought going
24:39in, Cat would dominate game one.
24:40He was best player on the floor.
24:42I think Karl-Anthony Towns is going to do it again.
24:44And I think Jalen Brunson, forget point total, Jalen Brunson's going to have a much better game, more even game
24:51tonight than he did in game number one.
24:54So, I love the physicality that Cat is playing with.
24:57I love the intelligence, I love the passion, and I love the defense.
25:02I mean, Wemby could not do anything when you take a look at what transpired in the first matchup on
25:09game number one on Wednesday night.
25:11So, I can't wait for this game.
25:14I really, at the end of the day, have such high hopes for the Knicks not only winning a championship,
25:20but putting a monster dagger into the San Antonio Spurs.
25:25I just, I love this matchup.
25:28If it rains for 29 straight days, you know what you do on the 30th day?
25:32You don't check your weather app.
25:33You bring an umbrella.
25:35Why would you pick against the Knicks?
25:38They've won 12 straight playoff games.
25:41I think they're going to make it 13 tonight.
25:43I had the unbelievable pleasure of having the great Shaquille O'Neal on my SiriusXM radio show today.
25:50And I needed to get his take on how he would match up with Victor Mbanyamba.
25:53Take a listen.
25:55You were, to me, as unstoppable a player in the history of the NBA.
25:59If you were going up against Victor Mbanyamba, one-on-one, what would you do to him?
26:05How would you play him?
26:06How would it go?
26:09Well, when you put a brick wall against a wooden fence and the brick wall falls, what do you think
26:17are going to happen?
26:18I'm going to use my strength to get him under the basket.
26:22And I'm going to try to get him off balance and just try to throw it down every time.
26:28Now, once you throw it down his face a couple of times, he'll realize that he can't stop me.
26:31And then I have him.
26:33And I will probably have, I'll probably have problems on the other hand, but you're going to have to, like,
26:38for example, he shot 10 threes last night.
26:40In order to beat me, you're going to have to shoot eight of them.
26:42Because every time you shoot a three-maker, I'm going to go back down right in the middle of the
26:46bank.
26:46Just put it this way.
26:47They would double me.
26:49Oh, yeah.
26:49I promise that they would double me.
26:51That's what makes you you.
26:54I promise you.
26:56Love that from Shaq.
26:57I want a treat having him once again on my SiriusXM radio show.
27:00And, yeah, I think he's 100% right in terms of how he would bulldoze Victor Wembenyama and use his
27:07strength and physicality.
27:09Now, during that interview, and I think this is important here, I talked to him about Wemby and his struggles.
27:15And Shaq really had no idea what the hell anyone was talking about with Wemby being tired.
27:22He's 22 years old.
27:23And Shaq also made the point that at the end of the day, that Carl Anthony Towns' speed and power,
27:30that's something that he could use in surprise, pleasantly surprised how much he used it in game number one.
27:36And he could use it again in game number two.
27:38But I love watching this.
27:40You know, the old school Shaq videos.
27:42I feel like the youth, the kids, they need to see this because Shaq was unstoppable.
27:48I mean, he would just treat the opposition like thin air.
27:52I mean, as he said, like a bulldozer to a fence.
27:56I mean, that's what it was.
27:58And he would kick ass and he would take names.
28:00And there was no stopping Shaq Diesel.
28:03And these are back in the Orlando days.
28:06And then he goes to Los Angeles, dominates with the Lakers.
28:09Shaq and Kobe, unbelievable.
28:10And, you know, you look at the tail of the tape and it's pretty awesome here in terms of, you
28:16know, the matchup and the hypothetical.
28:18But look at the weight difference, right?
28:20And this is also something that I think at the end of the day that Carl Anthony Towns can go
28:26to school on in terms of having that kind of advantage with the physicality.
28:31So, rough Wemby up a little bit.
28:33I love this hypothetical with Shaq.
28:36And it's true.
28:37And, like, and he bristled at me a little bit when I told him I've said Wemby's a combo of
28:43Shaq and Steph Curry and Paul Bunyan.
28:45You know, he said he doesn't have my physicality.
28:47Maybe, and I think Tim Duncan, I have a strong take on this, is actually the most underrated superstar in
28:51the history of the NBA.
28:52Tim Duncan, I believe, is wherever you rank Kobe in an all-time great conversation, and I think Kobe's an
29:00all-timer, Tim Duncan's neck and neck with him.
29:03When you look at domination and you look at consistency and rings and however else you want to judge stars,
29:09Shaq said maybe it's more Duncan meets Steph in my comparison.
29:13Because no one played the way that Shaquille O'Neal did.
29:18So, I loved every second of the question and the answer and the hypothetical and, you know, for all the
29:25Wemby conversation, and rightly so, I think that Shaquille O'Neal would kick his ass.
29:31Now to the bad news of the day for New Yorkers.
29:35Aaron Judge's injury.
29:36The Yankees captain has been diagnosed with a stress fracture of the first rib on his right side.
29:42This, according to the team, on Thursday night.
29:44He's going to be relegated to rest at limited activity.
29:47And here's a key.
29:48Then re-imaged in about four to six weeks to determine how much improvement he has made and what his
29:54next steps might be.
29:57Aaron Boom, before the announcement, seemed to show a little bit of frustration with the uncertainty and the questions posed
30:03to him about Judge.
30:04I checked in the middle of the game.
30:06I ran in and asked, and we're waiting on the specialist to weigh in.
30:11So, that's where we're at.
30:12Okay?
30:13So, I'm just, you know.
30:15Are you frustrated, Aaron, at this point that you don't know what you're dealing with?
30:18No.
30:19Look, it's a lot of smart people, like, and, you know, a specialized area that, you know, and guys, you
30:26know, several states away.
30:28So, you know, we've just got to be patient.
30:32When do you expect a better?
30:33I expected over the last few hours, but waiting.
30:38Aaron, who is the specialist?
30:40Pearl.
30:41What is he specialized in?
30:43Oh, geez.
30:44Like, was my opening not good enough?
30:46No, I just didn't know what area that was.
30:50I don't know.
30:51Ribs, clavicle, I don't know.
30:53I can check.
30:54I don't know.
30:55Like, I promise you, when we know, we're going to give it to you.
30:59I wanted to walk in here and give you something so bad.
31:02I want it, too.
31:05Look, I don't blame Aaron Boone at all because, and I don't blame the press either because you want information
31:10and you want to find out what the deal is because we're talking about Aaron Judge, who is a legend
31:17and one of the all-time great right-handed hitters.
31:20And he's everything for the New York Yankees.
31:23And, you know, I can appreciate why some are framing this good news on Judge because of the concern with
31:30the specialist he was going to see that this could be thoracic outlet syndrome and that would have been season
31:35-ending surgery.
31:36But here's the key that's on your screen in the Judge news.
31:41Re-evaluated in four to six weeks.
31:43The Yankees are brilliant and conservative historically when it comes to injuries.
31:50They don't rush players back.
31:52They're wonderful.
31:54I, as a Yankee fan, am not anticipating Judge back middle of August at earliest.
32:01If you're going to be re-evaluated in four to six weeks, you're not playing for a couple of months.
32:07Now, the good news is the American League sticks, right?
32:11And the New York Yankees pitching staff with Cole and Rodon and Schlittler and when Freed's healthy, Weathers, Warren, it's
32:19the best in baseball, right?
32:21So the New York Yankees can absolutely hold serve.
32:24Tampa predictably has crashed back down to earth.
32:26The only other team that I think, if Judge is healthy for the end of August, September, and most especially
32:33October,
32:34the only other team that could challenge the Yankees would be the Seattle Mariners.
32:38That's it.
32:40Every other team in the American League, weak.
32:43Now, I do think it's important here for Brian Cashman to make trades in July, like the Yankees are making
32:51the playoffs.
32:52They still need relief help.
32:54That has to be a thing.
32:55You know, I don't want to hear spin doctors say the Yankee offense could be fine.
32:59Historically, the Yankees' offense is always brutal without Judge.
33:02You know, Judge is hitting 163 and eight RBIs since May the 17th.
33:09I don't trust, you know, Dominguez when he's healthy or Spencer Jones that these guys are all of a sudden
33:16going to replace productivity.
33:17Love Bellinger.
33:19I mean, he's not a primary star.
33:22Jazz starting to heat up a little bit.
33:23I always defend Jazz.
33:25I mean, there's a reason why, you know, the Guardians announcers are taking shots at him.
33:29Yankee offense is going to be dreadful without Aaron Judge.
33:32Don't try.
33:33Stanton will come back maybe at some point.
33:35Don't try and spin it.
33:36So, this is a monster deal for the Yankees.
33:40I think the pitching will be great enough.
33:43I mean, the hapless Red Sox come to Yankee Stadium this weekend.
33:46Can't wait to bash Sonny Gray tonight.
33:48I mean, you know, I'd like the Sonny Gray trade when the Yankees made it.
33:51But that, I'd never worked out.
33:53I'd never want it to be here in the first place.
33:54As he told reporters when he signed in Boston, I think the Yankees and Aaron Boone will make sure to
33:58remind everybody of that.
33:59Listen, this is a big deal.
34:01And we need to make sure Judge is okay.
34:04Re-evaluate in four to six weeks.
34:06That's not great.
34:08So, this is obviously huge here for our New York Yankees.
34:12The Dallas Cowboys expect wide receiver George Pickens to be in attendance when their mandatory minicamp begins on June the
34:1916th.
34:20Pickens signs his friend.
34:21George Pickens, has he been here this week with you guys?
34:24No, he has not.
34:25As you guys know, it's voluntary.
34:27Communicated with GP yesterday.
34:29He's got a football camp this weekend that he's doing.
34:32So, communication has been good.
34:34And as you guys know, it's voluntary.
34:36And he's taking care of his business.
34:39Of those conversations, is it giving you an indication that he'll be here when it's the mandatory session?
34:45No, we haven't discussed that.
34:46But I expect he'll be here.
34:48And I think he's in a good spot.
34:50But, again, I know he's handling his business.
34:52And I know he misses his teammates.
34:55And so, we miss him, too.
34:56You guys know how we feel about him.
34:57We love him.
34:58And, you know, this is just part of the business.
35:01There's a huge story right now in sports.
35:04And it's the Dallas Cowboys.
35:05And things are always magnified when you talk about the Dallas Cowboys.
35:10And, you know, historically, we see in history, the Dallas Cowboys are the worst.
35:16Atrocious when it comes to handling contracts for their players.
35:21And then paying even more and having holdouts that turn into disasters and distractions
35:27and then overcompensating with money and busting the salary cap.
35:33Zeke, Dak, CeeDee Lamb, this is not that.
35:37I want to give the Dallas Cowboys credit.
35:39I think what the Dallas Cowboys are doing top to bottom here
35:42with regards to everything going on with the George Pickens situation
35:46has been handled perfectly.
35:49The George Pickens trade last year was a winner.
35:53Okay?
35:53George Pickens was, in my opinion,
35:56and also I vote for the Associated Press Awards,
35:59he was one of the four best receivers last year.
36:04I had him ranked fourth.
36:05I voted him second team All-Pro.
36:07I would have put him first if he didn't have moments.
36:09The Detroit game quickly comes to mind.
36:11where he quit the game and didn't want to be out there.
36:16Pickens was available in the first place,
36:18and this is important here,
36:20from the Pittsburgh Steelers
36:21because terrific player didn't always bring it or give a damn.
36:28So this is not one of these homegrown guys.
36:31This is not Zeke, or most especially Dak, or CeeDee Lamb.
36:36This is George Pickens, who needs to be handled differently.
36:40I also choose to oftentimes defend players, and this is one of them.
36:46You don't want to be there at anything that's voluntary.
36:48It's the nature of the word voluntary.
36:50Great.
36:50I can't remember the last time I've ever ripped an NFL player
36:54for not being at something voluntary.
36:56In fact, oftentimes, I could give players a pass for not being at something mandatory.
37:02Aaron Rodgers, Tom Brady, different strokes for different folks,
37:06including the way the Cowboys are handling George Pickens.
37:10George Pickens is a phenomenal talent.
37:13He's a knucklehead.
37:14Dangling that carrot of payments
37:18and making sure there is a literal and figurative pot of gold
37:23at the end of the rainbow of this season is everything.
37:28The Cowboys nailed this.
37:30Whether it's privately with Pickens, whether it's publicly,
37:33I had Stephen Jones, their COO of my SiriusXM radio show,
37:36whether it's Shadi at the press conference,
37:38Jerry Jones at a prior press conference,
37:39they're not negotiating with George Pickens.
37:42This is not a long-term deal possibility situation.
37:46This is not even a topic from discussion in any way, shape, or form.
37:52Okay?
37:52This is not even a thought.
37:54George Pickens, by the way, didn't have to sign his franchise tender.
37:58He did, which tells me he's going to be there
38:01because George Pickens, at the end of the day, knows he needs to get paid.
38:05And I'm guessing, you could debate compliments, priorities out of whack,
38:09however you want to frame it, his priority is money and winning.
38:13And frankly, if he plays big in big games,
38:15he's going to get paid for the Dallas Cowboys or someone else.
38:19Receivers historically always find a way to break the bank.
38:23I mean, we could go, you know, from peerless price to this past offseason.
38:27You saw what Alec Pierce got paid, right?
38:29I mean, this is how it works.
38:31And if Pickens proves that he's a winner and he's tough and he's available,
38:34he's accountable, and he helps the Dallas Cowboys do what I think is going to happen
38:38and, you know, help the Dallas Cowboys win the division, beat out Philadelphia,
38:44play on Championship Sunday for the first time in three decades, he will get paid.
38:49And I'll bet you a dollar he shows up at mandatory minicamp
38:53because why the hell else would he sign the franchise tag
38:56if he wasn't planning on being there?
38:58Otherwise, don't sign it.
39:01Then you don't have to go.
39:03We've seen plenty of NFL players do that.
39:05You get a franchise, you don't sign it until August.
39:08Don't sign it until Labor Day show up for week one.
39:11Pickens got this one right.
39:13He signed it early.
39:14He should be there with Dak.
39:16Look, I'm sure he's looking around and Drake London gets paid.
39:18Great, worth every penny.
39:19I didn't even necessarily love the Christian Watson payment,
39:23but I'm going to give Brian Gunakis credit for it
39:26because that's a homegrown guy and he knows what he has.
39:29Same with London, who's a phenomenal player.
39:31Pickens is now a guy who's bounced around, who has a bad reputation.
39:36He had a bad reputation in the draft,
39:38which is why he fell out of day one in the first place
39:40when the Steelers grabbed him years ago in the draft.
39:43So I give the Dallas Cowboys credit.
39:45It's so easy and obvious to always bang on the Dallas Cowboys
39:50when it comes to something like this.
39:52No one wants to hear this, but I consider this more of a fact
39:55as opposed to an opinion.
39:58Jerry Jones got this one right.
40:00I got to get out of here.
40:02I got to go.
40:03Why?
40:03Because my oldest daughter, my firstborn,
40:07is going to her senior prom tonight.
40:09And it's kind of crazy, right?
40:11I mean, it's wild.
40:14My wife Katie and I have three kids,
40:16and our oldest is a senior in high school.
40:19We have a sophomore daughter in high school.
40:21We have a fifth-grade son.
40:23And the time, I don't know where the hell it goes.
40:26I mean, it's crazy.
40:28I mean, our Shine Time producer, Griff,
40:30just showed us a picture of his three-week-old daughter.
40:33I mean, I remember all this.
40:34I remember taking Jolie Shine to see Elmo
40:38and Sesame Street to bring it all together.
40:42It's crazy.
40:43Absolutely crazy.
40:43She's going to college in the fall.
40:46I don't know how this happened.
40:50And by the way, my kids have never seen a championship.
40:55Jolie was one when our Yankees won a championship in 2009.
41:00So, Knicks, do this for all of New York.
41:04Do it for the Shine kids.
41:06Do it for everyone, except for Elmo.
41:09Oh, that's a show.
41:11Look at us, loser.
41:12If you missed any portion of the show, do what I do.
41:15Rewatch the show over and over and over again
41:17on the New York Post Sports YouTube page.
41:19California Post Sports YouTube page.
41:21Search Shine Time.
41:22Have a great weekend.
41:23Talk to you Monday on Shine Time.
41:24I'll be ready for the Shine Time.
41:25I'll be ready for the Shine Time.
41:25I'll be ready for the Shine Time.
41:26I'll be ready for the Shine Time.
41:26I'll be ready for the Shine Time.
41:27I'll be ready for the Shine Time.
41:27I'll be ready for the Shine Time.
41:27I'll be ready for the Shine Time.
41:27I'll be ready for the Shine Time.
41:28I'll be ready for the Shine.
