Gitane Demone - A Heavenly Melancholy (1992)

This is my second Gitane Demone video. My first, "Tales Of Innocence," was done back in 2015. Gitane Demone is an American singer, musician and visual artist.

"Her career spans more than 30 years. She came to prominence in the mid-1980s as the keyboardist and backing vocalist of the influential death rock band Christian Death."

This song, "A Heavenly Melancholy," was originally released as a single in 1992. It is unusual as it is a disco song when most of her work has been gothic rock, deathrock, and dark cabaret. It was later released on the 1993 Cleopatra Records compilation Facets in Blue. My copy came from the 1995 CD compilation, Gothik: Music from the Dark Side. On that compilation the "A" was dropped from the title, and it appears merely as "Heavenly Melancholy."

Due to her close association with darkwave, I likewise made the video dark, although one comic narrative only turns dark briefly. Still, dark or no, this video is largely about dance, in whatever form.
