00:17I wouldn't say it's a big, you know, lesson forward kind of a think piece movie. It's raw entertainment, edge
00:24of your seat thriller action with some sci fi. But it tends to make people think a bit about the
00:31world that we're living in because it is science fiction. It's near to distant future. But the closer we get
00:35to the release of the movie, the more near future it feels than distant future.
00:40And how you manage this kind of double morality that there is in your film?
00:48There's a moment in the script where you don't know if this man committed this crime or not, and neither
00:53does he. So it was important to me to at least thread some level of darkness into this character to
00:59where he would truly question whether or not he did this, and maybe even believe that he did do it.
01:04In terms of tackling the morality, for me, I met with a lot of LAPD homicide detectives leading up to
01:11making this movie. I understand that they really walk right on the edge of light and dark. They're constantly dealing
01:19with the fringes of mortality with people who are losing their lives and bringing hardcore criminals to justice.
