00:00Loom's robots are very smart but we cannot deliver this exceptional service
00:04without our lash artists. They provide the expertise, they do the artistry
00:08before and after the robot does its job. Without lash artists and the robot
00:13combination, we could not have this elevated experience that we're
00:15delivering in the world.
00:25Hi my name is Rachel Troyer and today I'm going to be getting my eyelash
00:29extensions done by a robot. Yes, I said a robot. I have gotten lash extensions
00:34before. Sitting in the chair for that long was not the most ideal situation for
00:39me, so I'm hoping that this process will be faster and seamless and I'm so excited.
00:44Hi, I'm Jo Lawson. I'm the CEO of Loom Precision Lash. Loom is a
00:48revolutionary beauty company. We use AI and robotics to delicately place lash
00:53extensions. It's more comfortable, it's safer, it's more precise than manual
00:58lashing. One thing I love about Loom is while we're putting robots out into the
01:03wild, we're also employing lash artists. So for every robot we put into the wild,
01:07there's three to four lash artists, which basically means we're creating jobs. We
01:11all are hearing about AI and technology gobbling up jobs. In this case, technology
01:16is supporting their jobs. Our lashes are $170 for a full set and $80 for a refill.
01:21Some of my biggest questions for the lash technician are the safety features and how
01:26this differs from getting your eyelashes actually done by hand.
01:31The safety issue is actually really interesting to me because the manual
01:34process is razor-sharp instruments millimeters from your eye for hours. Our
01:39robot has no sharp instruments. We have these delicate little wands that are not
01:42sharp that separate your lashes and then another delicate wand that places the lash
01:47onto your eyelash. We also have safety built into the software. If the client moves at
01:51all, the robot sees that, backs up, waits for the client to stop moving and then
01:55starts again. So there's no sharp instruments. It knows when to stop if the client is moving.
01:59The software and the hardware is built for extreme safety.
02:02My name is Natalie Vigil and I am the lead lash artist for our Valley Fair in Oakland
02:07Studios. Doing them on our own over time, the body does start to kind of hurt a little
02:13bit, but having the robot has been such an asset as a lash artist. It does most of the
02:18work, but we also can really focus on the lash artistry at the end and to make sure that
02:22we have great results and great retention with our client. Being part of such an
02:27amazing group of women and the team and all of the technology behind it has been a
02:34dream experience. Our first step would be of course to turn on our robot and make
02:38sure that all our supplies are in and then we have our consultation with our
02:42client. We go over the style, we go over the lengths that they would like. We have
02:46three different styles. We have the uplift, we have the glam out, and the full glam out. What are we
02:50thinking?
02:51Maybe let's do the glam out in the middle of happy medium. Yes, happy medium and then we're
02:56going to do the everyday length. Those are the more natural. Yes. Okay. Amazing. Perfect. I will then
03:01prep Rachel's eyelashes with a solution that cleans the lashes and has them ready to go
03:07for the robot placements. Then I will put our special robot iPads on. There is a lower
03:13iPad and then we put an upper iPad that has code on there that the robot reads and then it
03:21will tell the robot where to put the lashes and the different sizes. I will
03:24then situate her so she's comfortable and then we lift her into the robot. The
03:29robot will then start to carefully and gently comb through the lashes and isolate
03:34individual hairs so that they're not getting glued together, that a lash is not
03:38getting stuck on more than one natural lash. It will isolate the lash and then it will dip
03:50the lash extension in glue and then place it right on top. Then the blue light inside of
03:57the robot will cure it. One thing that we've noticed all of our clients saying is how fast
04:05this is. Basically they don't have to plan their entire day around their lash service.
04:10Ultimately we're getting down to about 45 minutes for a full set of lashes and about 25 minutes for
04:16a refill set of lashes. It's fast. It's safe. It's clean. You're in your own space. There's nobody
04:22leaning over you for a couple of hours and then on top of that it's also quite comfortable. Most of
04:27our clients actually take lash naps and then it's very consistent. So we really have these five
04:32benefits that are unmatched in the industry. So once the robot has completed we then stop the robot.
04:38We'll bring her down and pull her out of the robot. We then gently comb through and make sure all
04:43that
04:43the placements are perfect and intact. Anything that may be not we take it off gently and we'll
04:49replace. That's where the lash artistry portion begins and we just maybe fill in a few that we need
04:56to to make sure that the full set is perfect. Just a reminder to keep these dry for 24 hours.
05:00No picking,
05:01no pooling, where you have a little spoolie for you and you'll just gently comb them. After the 24
05:06hours of course please keep them clean especially your lash line. Just an oil-free even baby shampoo
05:12something just very gentle to cleanse the lashes would be perfect. Okay Rachel you can blink a little.
05:19How do they feel? They feel amazing. Anything feel uncomfortable? No. Perfect. Great.
05:25Okay. And then here's a mirror for you.
05:31Oh my gosh they look amazing. I'm so glad you like them. I'm so impressed. I feel like a lot
05:37of the time other lashes in the inner corners can get kind of irritating. These feel so light. Yes
05:43they're very light. They're very high quality. Very light lashes. Yes. I'm so impressed. Good. I'm so
05:49glad you like them. Rachel here's your aftercare card. It's going to tell you do's and don'ts. It also
05:55has our information on there if you'd like to rebook and if you have any questions of course there's that
05:59for you. And we have a little goodie bag here for you. We have some awesome samples from Lumify.
06:06They're eye drops that you could use. We also are partnering with Patchology. So we have a few samples in
06:11there for you and there's a brush in there for you. Okay. Thank you so much. It's so interesting
06:16looking back and seeing the video of what was actually happening because it does not feel like
06:21anything at the most. It's the tiniest little amount of pressure on your eyelashes kind of like
06:27a butterfly kiss. But it was so incredibly comfortable. It was a lot more comfortable than
06:33I thought it would be and it was so seamless and so incredibly fast. Overall such a great experience.
06:39I highly recommend. In two to three weeks I'm going to do a vlog and show how they're holding up.
06:45I'm actually so impressed with how these are looking. They have been so comfortable especially
06:50sleeping. That's been something that's irritated me in the past. You can feel the quality of these
06:55lashes. I know that this process can seem daunting especially watching some of those clips back but
07:02I am so grateful that I tried this because I'm definitely going to keep going back and getting these done.
07:08Some of my friends didn't even realize I had extensions. They just thought my eyelashes were
07:13this long which is not the case but thank you. I highly recommend going and I am definitely going
07:19to go back and get a refill because I am now obsessed. One thing I love about Loom is this
07:24is a business
07:25about women but from our lash artists to our engineers to our executive team we have women spread throughout the
07:30entire organization and it is delightful to work in the beauty industry with these incredible women
07:35to build the future of beauty. We love to hire experienced lash artists. People who know really
07:40how to do the delicate work and service clients. We overlay that with our robotics training because
07:45we have a brand that we want to uphold but we also have a lot of technology that's supporting the
07:49lash
07:49artists. For all the lash artists out there Loom is hiring. We're going to be opening about 50 stores
07:54next year and we would love for you to be part of this. So check us out at loomlash.com
07:59and we'll reach out to
08:00you if we have a store coming to your location. Even with incredible pricing we're rolling out some
08:04new programs. We have a membership and subscriptions coming soon so stay tuned for that as well.
