00:00Hey guys! Welcome back to Refinery's YouTube channel. If you're new here and
00:03you don't know who I am, my name is Lucy. This is my bedroom. Don't forget to
00:08subscribe by clicking on the little button in the corner. I have a new video
00:11every Friday. We have tons of exciting things going on and you don't want to
00:14miss it. And now it's time for the highly requested video of what is in my fridge.
00:24Whoa! That's a big fridge. First and foremost, my fridge isn't always this
00:30beautifully stocked. I did just do a shop and it doesn't always look this neat in
00:34here. Sometimes food is spilling out on the fridge. Sometimes stuff gets moldy and I
00:38have to throw it out. I'm just gonna get started in the upper left-hand corner and
00:42I'm gonna talk you through what is in my fridge at the moment. Here I have two
00:47dozen eggs. I always check my eggs in the grocery store before I buy them because
00:51I've had some leaky cracked eggs incidents and not fun. The next little jar
00:57you're seeing here is a little mason jar where I've put in some fresh basil that I
01:04snipped off from my little basil garden in the kitchen. Smells like a fresh pizza.
01:09Organic artichokes. Thankfully I got away really easily at the grocery store this
01:13time around because a lot of the organic produce was on sale. So I've got
01:18strawberries, I have blueberries and raspberries, and then in the big one on
01:24the side I've got kiwi and mango. Cheers. Alright we're gonna have to do some
01:29maneuvering to show you what's in the back. It's summertime which means everyone
01:35needs a watermelon in their home. Next shelf down I have some yogurts and I've been
01:41kind of toggling back and forth between dairy-free yogurts and regular dairy
01:45yogurts. This is Kite Hill almond milk yogurt and I have pineapple and blueberry
01:49flavored. Siggy's is currently my favorite regular yogurt brand. It's very low in
01:56sugar as opposed to most yogurts. Live active cultures. Mmm. Behind the yogurts I
02:02just have some more fruits. So I have a couple of Granny Smith apples and a dragon fruit.
02:09I have a bunch of different peppers here. I have red, orange, and yellow. In the back
02:13you'll see four mangoes. I have an organic papaya. Personally tropical fruits
02:19taste better to me when I'm in the tropics and here I am in the middle of
02:22New York City. But I do think that you can still taste the tropics in some ways
02:27just by buying fruits. I have a little bundle of tomatoes. Fresh. In the way back I've
02:35got bananas. For me bananas go in almost everything. Smoothies. They go in cereal.
02:42I have them plain. I have them with peanut butter. So I'm just a banana fiend. I have
02:47Calivia Farms almond milk. I really like the shape of this bottle. I'm in love with
02:52the shape of you. Pure naked coconut water. It's very hydrating. Love to drink coconut
02:59water. In the back I've got my Brita filter. I've heard rumors about New York City
03:04water. Some people drink it straight from the tap. Other people say you must filter
03:07it. I'm just going the safe route and Brita filtering it. But every so often I just you
03:13know put my face under the faucet and chug. I've got organic celery. I also have two
03:22bundles of organic kale. This is a reusable produce bag. This is what they come in.
03:29Apparently it keeps your fruit and vegetables fresh for up to ten times longer than when
03:34they're not in these bags. I would just put the kale right in here and then just put it
03:40right in here. And that is how you put things in bags. Onto the ginger. These are just organic
03:45ginger fingers. I honestly don't know if they're called fingers but that's what they look like.
03:50I'm going to move over to this vegetable drawer. We're just gonna put that drawer back in. Organic
03:56carrots. Oh this is a disaster. Cucumbers. Sometimes I juice cucumbers by myself and I just drink
04:06cube juice because it's so good. Really fresh. Firm. Okay. Eggplant. This is another great vegetable
04:15to have in the house. And then just behind it I have an onion. And this onion is really large
04:21and really in charge. Feels good. I've got a lot of citrus in here and then also a few other
04:30things.
04:31In the front I've got three limes. Four oranges. Avocados from Mexico. Just kidding. I don't know
04:37if they're from Mexico but I love having avocados. Personally I love they're just a great source of a
04:43healthy fat and I love fat. Two kiwi. The rest of the ones that I had already cut up are
04:49what you're
04:49seeing in here. The big guy. A grapefruit. This is one of my favorite things because when you squeeze
04:55the skin the oils start to come out of it. I'm getting a little touchy with my produce. Last thing
05:01on this side is this bottom drawer. It's kind of a random conglomerate of things. Michael's gluten-free
05:06bread. He keeps his bread in the fridge. This is his GFB. And then I have two different types of
05:11peanut butters here. So classic Skippy Creamy. And a little bit of a healthier version. This is
05:19Everland's organic coconut peanut butter and it's crunchy. So it kind of tastes like coconut oil.
05:25It kind of tastes like peanuts. Then I've got a few gluten-free Bob's Red Mill flours here. So this
05:32is
05:32an all-purpose baking flour. There's a baking soda and there's also another baking flour. And the last
05:38thing in this fridge over here are some string cheeses. All right. And that is this side of the
05:47refrigerator. So if I start over here I just got an organic soy sauce. This is just a grape Poupon
05:53Dijon Dijon mustard. And this ketchup is organic unsweetened ketchup. I've got coconut secrets,
06:00coconut aminos. This sort of tastes like soy sauce but it's not soy sauce and it's really just made with
06:06organic coconut tree sap. And then just a classic tomato sauce. This is my butter dish. And all the
06:14extra butter sticks go down here. This is sort of my breakfast toast jam spot. So I've got a blueberry
06:21pomegranate jam from Stonewall Kitchen. This apricot preserve which is from Lucy. Just kidding.
06:28Lucian. I usually top my toasts with chia seeds. So I love storing them in this mason jar. I don't
06:34know why it just feels very modern and fresh. Plus it makes like a morocco. And then the favorite of
06:41the shelf. Nestle Toll House chocolate chip cookie dough. It is a childhood classic and a staple in the
06:48Lucy Think household. I could basically eat this entire roll raw. Do not consume raw cookie dough.
06:56What a waste. I've got maple syrups here. I have two different brands. This one is Brad's Organic and
07:02this one is Shady Maple Farms. It's almost running low. In front of it we have this Naturopathica stress
07:08resistance fortified honey. And I don't normally keep my honeys in the fridge but this one looks good in the
07:15fridge. And then behind it I've got this palm 100% pomegranate juice antioxidant rich. I've got some
07:22Haribo gummy bears and I like to keep them in the fridge because they stay cold and almost a little
07:29hard and I love it. It is no coincidence that I keep the pickles right next to my sweet drawer.
07:45I
07:45obsessed with chocolate especially dark chocolate. I just got a Lindt 70% smooth dark. I've also got a
07:51few Lindor Lindt truffles. In the back here you'll see these Justin's dark chocolate peanut butter cups.
07:59These come all together as minis in this bag so it's really a great bulk purchase. Pop the pickles in.
08:08I keep this earth balance organic coconut spread. And all the way on the right is some ground flaxseed.
08:15I usually put this on yogurt or oatmeal and sometimes in smoothies and it gives it kind of a really
08:21thick and nutty consistency. On the bottom I just have a few cans of some seltzer that I've been
08:27finishing up. I have this Hunts tomato paste that I can use for cooking. I don't know if this actually
08:34keeps your fridge smelling fresh so if someone would comment below and let me know if this is true
08:38or false. I've got these two rebel drinks here that I haven't tried yet but they look so good and
08:45so
08:45I'm keeping them in my fridge stashing them for a rainy day. I've got a Wolfer dry rosé cider. If
08:50you
08:51remember I did Lucy for Hire as a winemaker and I went to Wolfer Estate in the Hamptons and this
08:56came
08:56from there. Just in front of that is this superfood powder. I haven't even opened it yet but you are
09:02supposed to take a tablespoon of it and scoop it into a yogurt or a cereal or a smoothie and
09:07it
09:08really will just give you a nutrient plant boost so that's cool. Next to it is this biodegradable
09:14produce wash that I made with lemon and apple cider vinegar. Super easy to make. In front of it
09:19is a probiotic that I've been using PB8 and just behind it is that apple cider vinegar that I made
09:26the
09:26produce wash with. Sometimes I take it as a shot straight. Sometimes I put it in water and I drink
09:32it with lemon. Other times I use it to wash things so it's truly a versatile product. And the last
09:38thing
09:38you're seeing is this lovely selection of lemon and lime juice squeezes. And that my friends
09:46is the fridge. And now I'm going to take you into the freezer. Here we go. And it's got two
09:53layers.
10:11And that is what's inside my refrigerator. I gotta stand up. And that is what's inside my refrigerator
10:21and my freezer. Hope you liked it. Now that I showed you what was in my fridge, let's talk about
10:27money.
10:28Refinery29 has a new book that's coming out soon and it's called Money Diaries. I was especially excited
10:34when I got this book in my hands because there's a chapter all about getting honest with your spending
10:38and saving habits. And the first challenge that the book tells you to do is to take the highlighter test.
10:44Basically the idea is that you will write down everything you've spent on and then you go back to your
10:50list with a highlighter and you highlight every single thing that does not make you happy. So
10:55because I wanted to do the highlighter test, I went back to my financial statement and I pulled out all
11:00the other things that I spent on in that previous week. $32 for a manicure and pedicure. $10.59 for
11:05a taxi.
11:06$45 for a birthday present for my friend. $12 on a yoga class. $2 for a yoga mat rental at
11:13the class.
11:13$20 refilling my laundry cart. $57.47 for Con Ed. That's actually half the bill so Michael paid
11:20the other half. And $3.50 on a latte. I went through and I highlighted anything on the list
11:26that just didn't really feel great. First and foremost, the manicure and pedicure. I find that
11:31I hate spending money on that because I can actually do manicures and pedicures myself and the moment I
11:36left, this happened. Not good. The next thing I didn't particularly love was the yoga mat rental. I actually have
11:43a
11:43yoga mat of my own and I was just being lazy and I wound up spending an extra $2 for
11:47no reason.
11:48Third was refilling my laundry cart. I mean, I know I got to do my laundry but it's not
11:52particularly exciting. And the final was the Con Ed bill because that doesn't get me, you know,
11:59jumping for joy. Meanwhile, I'm so happy with every single cent that I spent on that fresh produce
12:03and I also love supporting local businesses and buying things at the farmer's market nearby.
12:07I would have highlighted the taxi ride normally because I have a subway card so there's no reason to pay
12:12that amount of money. But I was really happy that I took that taxi because it was late at night
12:17and
12:17the thought of going underground alone didn't feel good. So the taxi above ground was great.
12:21The birthday present for a friend was great. I was really excited to give that gift to her.
12:25The yoga class obviously was amazing. And then last but not least, the latte. Normally,
12:30that would be something that I wouldn't feel great about because I can just make my coffee at home and
12:34it would be way cheaper. But I drank that latte sitting across from a friend that I hadn't seen
12:39in about two years. And so that was a lovely experience. So now I have a ton of questions for
12:44you guys. First and foremost, what is in your fridge? Please comment below. Secondly, let me know
12:49if we have any of the same brands and items in our refrigerators. And lastly, I want to know what
12:54are
12:54the things that you guys spend on every week that either make you feel really happy or really crummy.
12:58Let me know if you have any questions about what you saw in my fridge and I'll try to respond
13:02as
13:02soon as possible. And as always, let me know what else you want to see me vlog about on this
13:06channel.
13:07See you guys later. Bye!
