00:13Adoli, welcome to Liverpool. Tell us about how you feel sat here in the Liverpool tracksuits.
00:19I'm really excited, really excited because obviously you know about Liverpool, you know
00:25that is a big club, a massive club, one of the biggest in the world, but feeling inside
00:33and understanding a little bit more of this club and I always thought it's a special club,
00:41not about the football side, also because what people think about even during the week,
00:51how they are passionate about the club and everyone, the ones who like football, the ones
00:57that probably are not interested, but I have some experience with Athletic Club that I could
01:04in some ways familiarise, but it's going to be fun to experience it from the inside.
01:11And that's part of the excitement that you allude to it there, that Liverpool Football
01:16clubs is an obsession for people in the city as well, that's attractive to you, is it?
01:20Yes, it matters a lot to everyone, no, and this football at the end is about emotion,
01:29emotion, no, and I understand this is also a privilege, but also a big responsibility,
01:35because all those people want to be represented properly and we are here for this and
01:43I would love from my side, from the players' side, you know, so all those people
01:52identify also with the football, identify with the values of the squad and we are all in for this,
02:00yeah. It's a huge challenge, it's a football challenge as well, so what attracted you to that
02:04part of the football inside of the club? I think you don't need
02:10a lot of things to get attracted by Liverpool, Liverpool is Liverpool, but obviously the atmosphere,
02:19the supporters, the club, the players, the chance for me to coach top level players,
02:27the chance to fight for titles, I think it cannot be more attractive than this, it's difficult to find
02:35it, you know, so really excited to start, yes. Richard Hughes is somebody that you know very well,
02:41tell us about the conversations that you had with him about the position.
02:44Obviously it helps a lot, you know, in the other side of the table there is someone who
02:48you have already worked with and we were one year together, but in this case I would say it's
02:56it's about the club, it's about Liverpool, no, it's what really attracted me and I think now I'm
03:05looking forward to get all the information, I'm talking to everyone so I can understand better the
03:10club, everything that happens outside the pitch and we still have time, we still have one month until
03:19we really start working with the players, but I would like to use this month also properly to arrive
03:25here in the proper way. Yeah, does that timing work out well then that you do have that little bit
03:31of
03:31time, the season has only just finished so you get the time to put the plan in action and have
03:35that
03:35little bit of breathing space almost? Yes, at the end, everything has happened very quickly, Brina,
03:40we just finished the season and is when we really started thinking okay, what's going to be the next
03:47step and now that we know what's what's happening and I want to get ready also then the World Cup
03:55being there we will have a chance to work with especially with some of the young players because
04:02a lot of senior players being out and arriving later because of the World Cup, I think it gives us
04:07the chance to know better the players from the academy, some of the players have been on loan,
04:13they will be an important part of the first part of pre-season, the American tour and I think in
04:20that way I think it works very well for us because it will give us a lot of information before
04:25we take
04:26really decisions before we start the season. So you see that almost as an advantage then that the younger
04:33players you get the chance to integrate that identity with them even though the senior players might
04:37still be away after the World Cup? Yes, I think it's important in both ways, the senior players that
04:42have played in the World Cup, they've been feeling the pressure, they've been playing for their
04:49countries, I think they need and deserve a rest and also this allows us to give also important minutes
04:56to train more closely with the young players that probably we don't know as well because we've been here
05:05already three seasons playing a lot of times against Liverpool and there are players that we already
05:09know but there are other players probably that haven't had the minutes, have played for the
05:16development squad, have been on loan somewhere and I think those trainings, those minutes will be for
05:22us to take decisions very valuable. You spoke about the supporters at the Star, they're eager to
05:28find out what your style is from your mouth, what would you tell them about that? I think I have
05:34the
05:34advantage that I've been here already three years in the Premier League and people for sure have seen
05:41Bournemouth play, there are some things that obviously we need to change coaching Liverpool but I
05:48wouldn't I wouldn't like to lose our identity, the intensity, the aggressiveness, the organisation,
05:56certain things that I would like always to have in my team so easily after you have to adapt
06:03to the players you have and it's not the same one club or the other but there are fundamentals that
06:11I
06:11also think match quite well know what has been Liverpool during a lot of years that I think we
06:20can we can make it work. Has there been loads of thoughts about what Anfield might feel like
06:24for you as a manager when you come out of the tunnel and turn right and walk into that technical
06:29area
06:29as their manager? Yes I think I've been the other side no I still remember the goal Kiesa scored at
06:36the
06:36end of the first game of the season we were there with the 2-2 thinking that probably we could
06:41take
06:41something and and he scored and the plays adapted it was it was crazy you know and I want now
06:47to feel
06:48to feel this from the other side no at the beginning when you arrive to any club I think you
06:54need to
06:55kind of prove a little bit yourself you need to to earn the right also to belong no and and
07:01I think I want
07:02to do this as quickly as possible so I can also celebrate with them and I can be part no
07:07properly
07:08of those celebrations yes. You talk about it erupted you being a manager and celebrated a goal as one of
07:13them will be so special won't it? Yes for me football is about emotions about passion I'm quite
07:23cold-headed probably during my life quite rational I would say but it's true that when the game starts
07:30when you have to celebrate a goal something inside no and I think you this this inner energy you need
07:38it as a player you need it as a supporter you need it as a coach and I think no
07:43better place than Anfield.
07:44What are your ambitions here? I think Liverpool gives me the chance to
07:50to coach top players and the top players gives you the chance to to to to fight for titles to
07:55win
07:55titles no and obviously when you arrive to a place you don't want you cannot promise everything you
08:05cannot promise but it's true that I understand where I'm coming and and what is what is expected
08:10I'm I'm ready for the challenges and fans watching the interview today Liverpool fans all over the world
08:16what would you say to them? I cannot ask them for a lot I know how they are I can
08:23only say that I
08:24I want to become one more of you I want to earn the right to be one of you so
08:30we can we can enjoy
08:31enjoy all together and just finally sum it up for us you sit here today as a as a manager
08:37that wants
08:37to come in and do big things at Liverpool how big a day is it for you how big a
08:40day is it for the family
08:42and for your roots in football? I think it's it's a day for me
08:49that it's not only for me I think you are what has been your life what have been your influences
08:56I'm
08:57coming from a very small town working class outside of San Sebastian I've had my journey to become a
09:04football player I've had my journey starting in Cyprus going through the divisions going promotions
09:11arriving in the La Liga the Premier League now you arrive here and a lot of people have helped you
09:18during this this process and every time no now I receive a measure message or I think you have to
09:26remember all those people that have helped you that have influenced you and I'm I'm I'm now like
09:33motivated to show all these people okay we've made it together and and now let's let's enjoy it all
09:40congratulations we wish you all the luck in the world see you very much well done boss thank you
