00:00News now coming in from National Capital, Delhi.
00:03The owner of that fateful hotel, the BNB, where 21 lives were lost, has been sent to four-day remand.
00:11Accused Lavkesh Bajaj has been sent to a four-day remand.
00:15The court has said that the arrest is lawful and justified.
00:18Cops, meanwhile, have informed the court that we need to investigate staffers of the hotel as well,
00:24the staff members there, and have said that there's been gross negligence by the accused.
00:29The man on your screens with the cops.
00:31Remember that the cops had landed up at his residence yesterday.
00:35At that point, he wasn't available, but they managed to eventually nab him.
00:39And the question that will be asked to him is that the license that was given was for six rooms.
00:46Instead, there were 28 rooms or at least 28 beds.
00:50This is literally triple the number from what was allowed to him.
00:55Anshul Singh is joining me for the latest on that from the location.
00:58Anshul, you've consistently been telling us what the Delhi Police has been initiating with this regard.
01:03What do they intend to ask Lavkesh Bajaj?
01:06What will be on their radar?
01:07And how are they going to go ahead with the investigation?
01:11Well, the first job at the hands of Delhi Police is to go ahead, identify and arrest Jay Mishra, the
01:16person who was actually managing that entire property.
01:19The license that were issued for B&B and for health and restaurant, all these licenses were in fact issued
01:25on his name, that is Jay Mishra's name.
01:27So, he needs to be identified, he needs to be taken into custody, is what the Delhi Police had to
01:31say.
01:32But yes, the defense, that is the lawyers from the side of Mr. Bajaj, in fact, went ahead and put
01:37out some very strong arguments as to how the manner in which this arrest was made.
01:41This arrest was actually illegal.
01:43They claimed that the arrest memo was not served to the person.
01:48The grounds of arrest was not given.
01:49However, the court maintained that the entire arrest that has been made is actually justifiable and is absolutely legal in
01:56nature.
01:56And hence, a four-day police custody demand has been given.
01:59Now, over the next four days, the Delhi Police will initially try to get the whereabouts of Jay Mishra.
02:05Post that the Delhi Police will also seek details of how these licenses were granted and was any quid pro
02:13quo that happened between the accused and the government departments.
02:16That is something that the Delhi Police will also have to find out apart from this.
02:21Negligible death, death due to negligence is something, is a section that has been imposed against the FBI.
02:25Well, let's just hope that while, of course, the arrest continues for him, but there will also be more details
02:29about what exactly happened.
02:30How can a hotel like that even run in a busy populated area with clear violations, even for basic entry
02:38and exit?
02:39Imagine so many people trapped and suffocated to death.
02:42They could have easily at least saved their four lives.
02:45Thank you very much, Anshul.
02:46For now, we'll be tracking this big story.
