00:02Miami, Florida was the place to be earlier this month for the next step in Mick Schumacher's IndyCar career,
00:08with the German getting his first oval experience at the 1.5-mile Homestead Miami Speedway for his Ray Hall
00:15-Lederman-Lanigan racing team.
00:19Schumacher spent two years racing in F1 with backmarker Haas in 2021 and 2022, before moving on to the sidelines
00:27as Mercedes Reserve in 2023.
00:30He then cut ties with the Silver Arrows to focus on a return to racing via a World Endurance Championship
00:36hypercar drive with Alpi,
00:38with 2025 his second and last season with the mark.
00:44Schumacher first tested an IndyCar on the road course at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in October last year,
00:50but an oval was the natural next step.
00:52And while the German completed 97 laps, it was a proper shift away from anything he'd done before.
01:00Yeah, it's different.
01:02You know, I think the orientation was a bit of a difficulty at the beginning,
01:06like kind of knowing what side of the track I'm on, which corner I'm on, and then at the moment.
01:11After that, you kind of get the hang of it.
01:13You know, obviously, it's very new to me, so just getting acquainted with the procedures,
01:19getting acquainted with how the car feels essentially on track.
01:23I think we got a pretty good hang of it to the end now.
01:27And, yeah, I think we can only go better from here.
