00:03Ferrari's Formula One team has taken a strong step forward in 2026, with its smaller turbo proving a potent advantage
00:09at race starts, even though it has yet to secure a Grand Prix win from the opening trio.
00:16But in top sports car series, the World Endurance Championship, or WEC, Ferrari is the reigning champion of the elite
00:22hypercar class.
00:26And its season begins this month, and on Ferrari's home soil at Classic Track Imola, after the postponement of the
00:32original Qatar opener, due to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
00:38Ferrari is bullish about again winning both titles, with the drivers secured last season by the number 51 car piloted
00:45by Alessandro Pierre Guidi,
00:47XF1 driver Antonio Giovinazzi, and James Collado, who also became the first British racer to win a world title in
00:56a Ferrari since John Surtees in 1964.
01:02Consistency in course is everything, and especially in Le Mans.
01:05That's something that's really important to score points, because Le Mans is double points, and without anything there, it's almost
01:12championship over.
01:13So we'll try and do again what we did last year.
01:17For Giovinazzi, it's not just a chance at another title for his beloved Ferrari, but to put the 499P car
01:23on hyperpole, with the XF1 driver from Martina Franca, the Mark's single lap specialist.
01:32Since last year, I started to do quality every race, and when you start to do everything, like the same
01:38things in every race, you're just getting better and better.
01:42And I'm really happy with my resulting qualifying last year, you know, I took the hyperpole in Qatar, straight away
01:48after in Imola.
01:49Good result in the rest of the season, so I think, yeah, just enjoy myself being that, let's say, pressure.
01:58In Ferrari's second car, number 50 will be Antonio Fuoco, Miguel Molina, and Nicolas Nielsen, whose sole victory came at
02:07last year's Qatar season opener, but finished third in the driver's standings after it was disqualified at Le Mans for
02:13a rear wing infringement.
02:16The squad, though, knows what it has to do.
02:20I think the aim for us for this season is obviously to improve on tracks like Fuji, Sao Paulo, where
02:26we struggle a bit more compared to the other tracks, and that's something that will always come with more experience.
02:33The rejigged WEK calendar sees the six hours of Imola on April 19, which is followed by the six hours
02:39of Spa one week after F1's trip to Miami.
02:42It ends with two rounds in the Middle East in October and November, making this one series to watch before
02:52F1 returns next month.
