00:00When we first met Buzz at the shelter, I was very concerned about his behavior.
00:05So we're pulling up to the Costaic Animal Shelter.
00:07There's a dog named Buzz there that's going to get put down.
00:10We're going to go pull him out of here.
00:13He seemed antisocial. He didn't really want to interact with us.
00:21His main priorities was fighting with the other dogs through the fence
00:24and grabbing the leash out of his hand or his hand.
00:27Oh man. Okay, let's see what we can do.
00:29Let's do this.
00:30It's really hard sometimes to get a gauge for who these dogs are when they're in the shelter.
00:34So we wanted to give him a chance.
00:37He's a handsome boy.
00:38You can just tell he didn't trust anybody.
00:40Strong boy. Strong like bull.
00:43The other big concern are other animals.
00:46We've got chickens, goats, cats, other dogs here.
00:50He actually loved my kids.
00:52You can see him softening up in ways that we hadn't seen with any grown-ups yet.
00:55It took me a little bit over a month to build that trust
00:58and get him to a point where he was really comfortable around me.
01:03And then one day, suddenly, he just started playing with me.
01:10He dropped that hard exterior that he turned into a puppy.
01:14He loves it.
01:16It's one of the best feelings in the world when you have a dog who's been in the shelter system
01:19for so long, comfortable enough around you to let their guard down and be themselves.
01:24But it was crucial to us that we found the perfect home for him.
01:32But when we met Anthony for the first time, we all got super excited.
01:37We could tell right away that this was a match made in heaven.
01:47Just knowing that he was 24 hours away from being put down.
01:52How's that feeling?
01:54Good.
01:54But instead, is now living this amazing, happy, and fulfilled life.
01:58That's really what this work is all about.
