Transcript
00:00Anaga, in a very, in a gesture really that you see perhaps only in Karnataka politics,
00:06D.K. Shiv Kumar this morning, just before being sworn in as Chief Minister, what's been his priority?
00:11He's met with all the senior, tallest leaders of Karnataka politics.
00:16So besides meeting with Sidra Maya early this morning, he's also met with Yadirappa,
00:21he's also met with Devagauda, personally handing over an invite to them,
00:25seeking their blessings as he takes on this new journey.
00:27You know, this is a generational shift as far as Karnataka politics go.
00:31Because there's one era of politics defined by Yadirappa, Devagauda, Sidra Maya.
00:35Now you're shifting to another era of politics.
00:39May argue D.K. Shiv Kumar is not exactly young in political terms.
00:43At 64, he's considered to be young.
00:45This is what is considered to be young in politics in India.
00:49So at 64, it's a new generation that's taking charge in Karnataka and essentially the end of an era.
00:55Sagai is with me for more details on that.
00:58Sagai, are the likes of Yadirappa and Devagauda going to be attending the swearing-in?
01:06So the invitation has already been extended to both of them as a protocol.
01:11And in fact, D.K. Shukumar has personally invited them over the phone and he even met them today.
01:16So we need to wait and watch whether both of them will be part of this swearing-in-70.
01:21And if you see Akshita, this is the beauty of Karnataka politics.
01:25Irrespective, whatever the affiliation, the leaders have, they have a cordial relationship.
01:29And even we have seen in the past that whenever a leader from the other party,
01:35whether it is B.S. Edirappa, when he's sworn in as the Chief Minister of Karnataka,
01:39he took the blessings of S.T. Devagauda.
01:42And likewise, now you can see that D.K. Shukumar has taken the blessings of Devagauda and B.S. Edirappa.
01:49Probably the legacy continues and the tradition also continues in the state of Karnataka.
01:58Okay, Sagai, just stay with me.
02:00I want to bring in Nankajan Dwarakarnath.
02:01India today is for the first time getting you a glimpse of what it's like inside the Lok Bhavan.
02:06I'm standing outside.
02:07We've completely been barricaded off.
02:09But an invite has gone across to India today.
02:12Nagar Shun Dwarakarnath is live from inside.
02:14This is the first glimpse and the only one you'll get from inside the Oath venue.
02:19So, Naga, it's over to you. Take it away.

03:49Let me try moving around and show you exactly how this whole Raj Bhavan looks at this point of time.
03:55Usually, it's the west siding stage inside Raj Bhavan when the governor gives oath.
04:00But because of astrological suggestions, now the chief minister-designate wanted it to be east-facing.
04:08And that's the reason they moved the stage towards east as well.
04:12And you have two big LED screens, one here and one there, two big LED screens to showcase what is
04:19happening
04:20or telecast what is happening on the stage.
04:22Severe, severe, severe security arrangements here, massive security arrangements here at the Raj Bhavan.

04:45It's almost up to 80 foot long here inside Raj Bhavan.
04:49The big Lok Bhavan photo is put on LED screen along with the Vidan Souda LED screen as well.
