00:00I wonder if this will either β I don't know if this is going to be football horny, Tyler, for
00:10Clint.
00:10Maybe a chub.
00:12I don't know, but I wonder hearing it from somebody else,
00:17hearing somebody else describe what CJ's doing, because obviously Clint's not alone in this.
00:24I think there are a lot of people who question if he's the right type of leader.
00:30For this team and this offense in particular.
00:33But his teammate, the guy who's been able to get money, Will Anderson Jr.,
00:39he speaks about what he is seeing from the improvement of CJ in his leadership
00:46and others on the offense.
00:48Here's Will Anderson.
00:49I think it's β I mean, you talk about CJ.
00:52CJ has really taken that step, man, of watching the clock, getting the guys lined up,
00:56moving with urgency, but he's been the commander back there.
00:58He's taking that step as a leader back there to get everybody lined up,
01:02to take the initiative, like, hey, man, let's go.
01:04And everybody's rallying behind him.
01:06And then you've got guys like Wyatt Teller, who I love, man.
01:08He's been that energy booster on the whole line, getting guys, moving around, picking guys up.
01:13So I'm excited about that group.
01:14I can just see the growth in them already, man.
01:16The offense is moving at a much faster pace.
01:18I think Kaylee has been doing a good job.
01:19They got Foster with the tight ends.
01:21Dalton Schultz, as you know, man, those guys are rolling.
01:23It's competitive.
01:24And I laughed the other day.
01:25I said, man, it's going to be a fun training camp because you can see, like,
01:28the anticipation of everybody getting out there and, like, man,
01:31it's going to be one of those where it's going to be a battle every single day.
01:34Like, the physicality on the edges have up big time with Foster coming in as a tight end,
01:38like I said.
01:39So, like, all of those things that they've been working on,
01:42they've been doing a really good job at that.
01:44You've been wondering if they got guys on that side of the ball.
01:47So, that's real.
01:50He did call CJ the commander.
01:52I don't like what Will's doing here.
01:54He did call him the commander.
01:55He is the β CJ's the commander.
01:57He's trying to one-up the General Mills nickname.
02:00It's not hard.
02:00And he's giving Stroud this label as commander now.
02:04And that's β you know, we know Mills is the backup.
02:06We don't need that disrespect.
02:08And Will's better than this.
02:09I like it.
02:10CJ the commander.
02:11Man, we've got it all.
02:12We've got the captain, yoga spotter, C-gender, General Mills.
02:17I mean, it's all β
02:18Will's just trying to one-up the General, and it's impolite.
02:22Does that make you β does it make you, those of you who feel like Clint β
02:25does it make you feel a little bit β are you believing?
02:28Does this make you believe?
02:29Hearing from Will, his teammate, and Will wouldn't lie, talking about CJ there,
02:34Wyatt Teller kind of being that guy, pointed him out, Foster Moreau.
02:38We've heard β boy, they love them some Foster Moreau.
02:40Boy, I tell you, they all β
02:41Are you feeling CJ, the leader, and maybe the offense starting to have guys
02:46over there that you said this offense really needs?
02:49Let me be clear.
02:50There is absolutely nothing.
02:52D'Amico Rines.
02:54Nothing.
02:55Or Will Anderson.
02:57Or Tank Dale.
02:59Or Nico Collins.
03:02Or Dalton Schultz.
03:04Hannah McNair.
03:05Or Hannah Urquale.
03:07There's absolutely nothing that they can literally shape their mouth to say
03:12that's going to change anything about CJ Stroud's leadership qualities
03:20or the lack thereof.
03:22He said that's what you were looking for.
03:23Get out.
03:24Hey, get out.
03:24Get out of the huddle.
03:26Look, everything he said, get out of the huddle, operate with a sense of urgency,
03:30communicate, get guys lined up, and, I mean, hell, I expect β what's the kid?
03:35I expect Graham Mertz to be able to do that.
03:37Hell, I expect every one of them to be able to do that.
03:39I mean, why are you just now seeing that?
03:41I mean, that's not β no, I mean, that's just what I'm saying.
03:44I'm not going to put stock in either side, good, bad, or indifferent.
03:47There's nothing that group can say.
03:49The only thing that is going to move the needle for me is CJ,
03:55whether I'm watching him on the field and how he's responding,
03:59how he's communicating, how he's directing traffic, how he's barking,
04:04and impressors how he conducts his business.
04:09That's it.
04:10Ain't nothing else.
04:12I'm through listening.
04:13I mean, look, I don't know what anybody β
04:16I love the conversation about CJ.
04:18I don't know.
04:19I'm just going to tell you, man, this team ride or die with CJ.
04:22Well, yeah, they are.
04:24He was drafted number two overall.
04:25He was rookie of the year.
04:27What do you think the locker room is going to do?
04:28Come in there and tell you, oh, he ain't worth a damn.
04:30Get him up out of here.
04:30He ain't no leader.
04:31What do you think they're going to say?
04:34That's the silliest thing I've heard the last two years is about how,
04:37oh, boy, this team, this locker room is behind him.
04:40I mean, obviously.
04:42They're behind β guess what?
04:42If he got hurt tomorrow, they'd be behind Davis Mills too.
04:45I mean, it's just β give me a break.
04:47Yeah, no.
04:48There's nothing anybody else can do.
04:49This is a CJ show, period, point blank, and I can't wait to see it.
04:55I can't wait to hear it.
04:57I mean, I'm literally chomping at the bit for the next time he meets the media.
05:01So that's β you want to see it in action with your own eyes
05:05and how he speaks to the media?
05:07Because he seems like his approach has been different, you know,
05:13the one time we've heard from him with the media.
05:15And now we're hearing, like, from Will, his teammates,
05:19that he is with veteran guys up front, right?
05:22This isn't a young crew.
05:24I mean, Wyatt Teller and those guys are veterans up front.
05:27That's β
05:29Yeah, look, I think we got β
05:30He is trying to take that initiative.
05:33I think we got two things going for us here.
05:36We got two things going for us.
05:38It's one, there's a different CJ.
05:41If there is a different CJ Stroud in there,
05:44which I think we may have seen a glimpse of in the first media session this year.
05:48But if there is a different CJ in there, a more rigid CJ, a hardened CJ,
05:55damn it, you're going to see him now.
05:56Everything he's been through, like, it's time.
05:59There's no β I mean, every day is extremely valuable, number one.
06:05Number two is, you know, they brought in some dudes that have been parts of
06:14what the NFL has called the more physical offensive lines in the league.
06:19Not by my evaluation or by D'Amico's evaluation.
06:25I mean, some of them old lines that Wyatt Teller was a part of in Cleveland,
06:28some of them offensive lines that Braden Smith was a part of in Indy, man.
06:33Those were some of the more physical offensive lines in the game.
06:38And so, if there's a different CJ in there, we're going to get it, right?
06:43If there is, if either one of those guys are the alpha,
06:48the kind of leader that we're talking about, maybe they emerge.
06:51There's a couple of situations here that could be big for Houston
06:55on the offensive side of the football.
06:57We'll see, Will.
06:58No, Will ain't it.
06:59Will ain't it.
07:00I love Will.
07:00I love Will.
07:02I mean, hell, now he's making $50 million a year.
07:04You couldn't even pay him enough to say something bad about CJ.
07:06I was going to say, you had to pay him a million dollars.
07:08Hell, you couldn't even do that.
07:09Well, hey, he said his observation is CJ's really taking control of this thing.
07:16He's lying.
07:16Getting him, hey, going off, not accepting.
07:18Anything less.
07:20Damn it, he's taking control of it.
07:21All right, Will Anderson also spoke about this,
07:24which I find interesting because I saw this article on ESPN.
07:28They did their 10 bold predictions for the NFL season.
07:32The Texans fell into one of those predictions.
07:35But here is Will Anderson Jr. speaking about the expectations,
07:40Super Bowl expectations that this team has.
07:43Oh, most definitely.
07:44Most definitely.
07:44I think like the additions that they went and got, you know,
07:47in the offseason have been great.
07:49I think what we want as a team is right in front of us.
07:51I told the guys today when we broke it down, I said, man,
07:53it's a confidence thing.
07:54I said, look, everybody in the circle will believe that this is a Super Bowl team
07:57and everybody raised their hand.
07:59And I said, well, the front office, the coaches,
08:01they made the decision to bring you here because they thought that you could help
08:04us win that Super Bowl.
08:05So you're a Super Bowl caliber player.
08:07And so for me, like I look at this team, man,
08:09and we got Super Bowl caliber players all over the field.
08:11And it's just about taking that next step.
08:13And I thought since the four years I've been here, this is like,
08:15just as being on a team that's so fast, getting together,
08:18this has been the best OTAs that we've had offensively and defensively, man.
08:21Everybody's locked in.
08:22I love the rookie class that we got, man.
08:24They're adapting really well, getting into the building early,
08:27taking care of their bodies, staying extra, doing meetings,
08:30staying extra on the field.
08:31But that's the culture that's been built here.
08:33Everybody's buying in.
08:34So like I said, like this OTAs has been like the best OTAs I've seen
08:37with everybody buying in, offensively, defensively,
08:39offense doing their thing, pre-snap or whatever it may look like,
08:42defense getting lined up, coverage stuff, D-line stuff.
08:44So like it's just been a great sight to see,
08:46and I'm excited for the future of this team.
08:48All right, that was Will Anderson talking about Super Bowl expectations.
08:52And hell yeah, they got them.
08:53By the way, the bold predictions in, bold predictions, ESPN had.
08:58It said the Texans will earn the number one seed in the AFC
09:03and go for their first Super Bowl.
09:04You know about their defense, which is one of the two or three best in the NFL.
09:09The offense made improvements on the offensive line in addition to also bringing
09:13in running back David Montgomery in the return of receiver Tank Dell
09:17should move them up above the league average.
09:21The arrows pointed up.
09:24That was a bold prediction.
09:26I think it is bold.
09:27I don't know that the number one seed thing is as bold.
09:31Like I could realistically seed the Texans with their schedule.
09:35And they have some spots in that schedule.
09:38We know the back end where they go to a lot of cold weather spots.
09:41But you look at it like that is a team that has a chance.
09:45If they're able to be offensively what they really want to be.
09:49They have a chance, Clint, to β
09:53I don't know that them being the number one seed is that bold of a move
09:58in the division they're in.
10:00Yeah, I mean, look, I think you've got to win 13 or 14 games
10:03to be a number one seed in this league.
10:05I mean, hell, your division, Jacksonville, won 13 last year.
10:08Yeah, there was a number one.
10:10So, like, yeah, that's a little rich for me.
10:15That's a little rich for me.
10:16I think that first month, five weeks out of the gate is going to be tough.
10:19I think that finish that you mentioned is going to be tough.
10:22I think we've got a β and I don't want to say this in any way, shape,
10:29or form, minimize β
10:29No, I'll just say it.
10:30Well, but the thing is, like, I don't want to minimize the run that they made last.
10:36It's not all to forget they had to win nine or ten straight games
10:38to get to 12 last year.
10:40Like, that was β and you can look at it,
10:44and you didn't get several of the better teams you played,
10:47you didn't get their best β you didn't get their healthy football team.
10:52It took a lot of you staying healthy on the defensive side of the ball,
10:58catching some opponents when they were down several guys,
11:03and making just a ridiculous run that's hard to do for any team in the league
11:07to win that many games consecutive to get to 12 last year.
11:11Let's not just sit around here and act like, yeah, man,
11:13last year getting to 12 was an easy trip.
11:16That was rough.
11:17Having to win β was it nine or ten?
11:19It was ten, wasn't it?
11:20Nine or ten.
11:21I think ten was the first playoff game, right?
11:23But you had to win nine in a row to get β I mean, that's β that is β
11:26that's a lot, man.
11:28So, yeah, I think the one is a stretch.
11:31I think β I think that the Super Bowl is the one that β that's hard.
11:36I mean, the Super Bowl you've got to be β most likely you've got to be
11:39the best team to come out of the AFC.
11:41I don't know that you have to be the best team in the AFC to get the one seat.
11:47Like, I don't like β I don't know that that is β like, I mean,
11:52if we're honest, last year I wonder when the playoffs started
11:56how many people thought Denver and New England were the two best teams
12:00and they were the one in two seats.
12:02Yep.
12:02I think last year was an anomaly.
12:04For me, personally.
12:05Yeah, no, I'm with you on that, but I just wonder how many β
12:09like, hell, last year, did you think Seattle was better than the Rams?
12:14Ooh, no.
12:16Going into the playoffs, did you think Seattle was better than the Rams?
12:18No, I would have took the Rams.
12:19Yeah, the Rams, they end up being the five seed.
12:21You know what I mean?
12:22Like, so β and I don't think people thought the Bears were the two seed.
12:26I don't think people thought they were β
12:27so it doesn't necessarily mean that you're β
12:30now it gives you the best chance that one seed gives you a buy
12:33and it automatically puts you in the divisional round.
12:35Yeah, man.
12:36But I do β I think the third place schedule where some of the β
12:40like, some of the things comparative to other teams and their division,
12:44like, I think Tennessee may be a team that is getting better,
12:47but I don't know that they're ready to β I think their division is still doable
12:54compared to others.
12:56Like, I think the West and the North is still going to be very, very tough.
13:00And then New England and Buffalo are two really good teams out east.
13:04So I think that part is doable.
13:06Again, like I said, I don't know that you have to be the best team.
13:08My man said β Chance Fly said they could get the one seed,
13:11but still doesn't mean they're going to get out of the divisional round.
13:15Yeah, but it does increase their odds.
13:18I mean, it increases their odds.
13:20And, again, I'm not guaranteeing that they will get the one seed.
13:26But I think that is β that is not as bold to me as.
