00:00I don't think a friendship has to be new experience.
00:02A friendship is actually relying on what you've gone through.
00:06My friendships have started to feel like monthly check-ins instead of real connection.
00:10Is this just a normal part of adulthood when everyone is busy with work, family, and life?
00:14I feel this a lot because sometimes with friends, you only have time to get together once a month,
00:20or even if it's once every two weeks.
00:22And so much has happened, so you're like, okay, catch me up.
00:24And you're talking, and you want to hear everything going in your life.
00:27But you're not really making new experiences together.
00:29You're just updating each other on your lives over a meal.
00:33I don't think a friendship has to be new experience.
00:35A friendship is actually relying on what you've gone through in your past and talking about,
00:40or situations that are right now happening in your life, and perhaps planning on the future.
00:46But a friendship that's really a friendship is just talking to one another
00:50and exchanging life experiences that are happening to you, not necessarily together.
00:55It could be what's happening with your boyfriend, with your husband, with your children,
00:59and you're just relating and then expecting to hear their feedback.
01:02As long as the connection is evident in your conversation,
01:07and you're getting feedback, and you're laughing together,
01:09or you're feeling like they get you...
01:11Or Sam together.
01:12Yeah, exactly, on a deeper level.
01:13Right.
01:14That's okay.
01:14But if it's just checking in, like as if you would with Joe Schmo,
01:18and you're like, by the way, this is happening in my life,
01:20and then the other person is like, well, this is happening in my life,
01:22and they're passing each other.
01:24Well, that's just a casual friendship.
01:25That's really not a friendship.
01:27Right.
01:27So I think as long as the check-in feels...
01:31Genuine.
01:31Genuine.
01:32Right.
01:33That's okay.
01:33Yes.
01:34Modern problems.
01:35Classic solutions.
01:36Got a situation.
01:37We've got opinions.
