00:00The bombshell ruling in the Charlie Kirk murder case means new evidence is going to be made
00:04public at a hearing next month. Lawyers for accused assassin Tyler Robinson wanted to block
00:10news cameras from a five-day preliminary hearing in July, where the prosecution is expected to
00:16lay out evidence against the 23-year-old defendant. They argued that media access would essentially
00:21allow potential jurors to be blasted with anti-Robinson propaganda before the trial begins.
00:27But Utah Judge Tony Graff rejected their motion, and so cameras will be there to capture the
00:33proceedings. The judge said most of the evidence in question has already been revealed and discussed
00:38in the public arena and that there are other ways to protect Robinson's rights. The defense team also
00:43claimed prosecutors have illegally sensationalized the case, pushed political agendas, and villainized
00:49him in the eyes of the public, violating a pretrial publicity order. Graff did not find the Provo
00:55County District Attorney's Office in contempt of court on Monday, but he said both sides would
01:00have the chance to present their arguments next week.
