More than a quarter of retail sales in Great Britain are now made online, and footfall figures show high streets remain under pressure. But across Birmingham and the West Midlands, some shopping destinations are still pulling people in.

00:00I'll go to the city centre because it allows a very good amount of selection to pick from.
00:07I'm going to the city centre and today I'm going to buy a pair of shoes.
00:10This area because it's convenient to the station.
00:15I mean, I've lived here for like all my life.
00:18So I always come to Boring.
00:20I always like pop into the shops and stuff.
00:23I think it's just because it's so convenient.
00:26I mean, you've pretty much got everything that you could possibly want.
00:28So I think that really helps with coming back and stuff.
00:34I shop the most in Selfridges.
00:37It's so real, yeah.
00:38Not necessarily buy anything from there, but like have a browse in there.
00:42Yeah.
00:43I was just any clothes shops.
00:44Just because I like clothes.
00:47More like Selfridges, head towards there because there's a variety.
00:51You should go to the food court first because there's a nicer section there.
00:55I'd say probably sometimes a bit more variety out here.
00:58Because a lot of the stuff is all in the Bullring, whereas down the New Street and around Grand Central
01:04probably could be a bit more variety than the same shops.
01:06So you kind of see everywhere.
01:07I think more youth spaces.
01:10I think there's a lot of youth in Birmingham and sometimes we get a lot of bad press because there's
01:19a lot of different things that can happen.
01:21But I think if there's more communal spaces where young people can go and chill out and just have safe
01:27spaces for young people, I think that would really help.
01:29I think there's more people in this world.
01:29So let's get started.
