00:24I ran out to my hallway and I saw me and I didn't know he had a loaded shotgun in
00:29his
00:29hand. I don't know what's going to happen. Your mind goes to the worst places.
00:40Let's go. That's how we do it. I'm on the board. You need to stop. Go. You need to leave.
00:47You don't
00:47tell me what to do. As one in five Americans move to the suburbs, neighbor complaints double.
00:56Get the f*** out of here, you broke bitch. People are spending more time at home than ever before.
01:01They have gotten to really know their neighbors for better. The f*** out of this neighborhood.
01:07And worse. Oh, f*** my God. I'm chewing the f*** out of you.
01:11You're going to be soft. From home sweet home to battle zone.
01:15What's up? Hey, hey, hey. These are. This is harassing me in five pieces.
01:24Wherever there are neighborhood parks, you will inevitably find young children playing.
01:32But with kids comes noise.
01:37And some neighbors just can't stand it.
01:42As three mothers find out at this park in Langley, British Columbia, when approached by a woman
01:47who decides to lecture them on the volume of their children.
01:51Everywhere I go, these shrieking kids are going high back to you.
01:55Go somewhere else.
01:56Yeah! Okay, lady!
01:59Okay! Everybody has to shriek!
02:02Okay! This is the world we live in!
02:05Everybody yells!
02:07Get over yourself.
02:08Oh, yeah! Well, your kids are shrieking!
02:11I heard them way over there!
02:13Kids!
02:13Oh, they're kids!
02:14Well, I'm in the middle!
02:15Can I shriek?
02:16The ornery neighbor continues yelling at the mothers as their children play nearby.
02:21Shrieking kids!
02:23I'm sorry.
02:23Everywhere they are!
02:25How do you feel that way?
02:26Well, it's true, lady!
02:28You are screaming also, lady.
02:29Yeah, because your kids are. Why can't I?
02:32You can't.
02:33Is it a law that only your kids and these kids can shriek?
02:37One of the mothers offers up a simple solution.
02:40You can shriek, but then don't get another kid who's shrieking, okay?
02:43Yeah, well, I'm only shrieking because they were.
02:46But they're outside enjoying the house.
02:47Oh, they're outside!
02:48Well, why don't you take them inside your house and let them shriek?
02:52Another mother tries to reason with the woman.
02:55They don't have a place to go now.
02:57Yeah, well, I'm just trying to relax.
03:00And all I hear is shrieking kids.
03:02Can I get up?
03:03Can you come here Tuesday to Friday?
03:05Oh, you see?
03:06I have to come at a certain time.
03:09Okay, what is your schedule?
03:11I can only come at your schedule.
03:13I'm sorry, I didn't know you owned this place.
03:15If you don't want to listen, if you don't want to hear...
03:17Yeah, I know.
03:18If I don't want to hear kids, then I've got to wear earphones, right?
03:21Because your kids are royalty.
03:24And they can do whatever they want.
03:27The mother stops recording, but the yelling woman leaves and hasn't been seen at the park since.
03:33No word on whether or not she's still shrieking.
03:36Yeah!
03:38Okay, ladies!
03:39Okay!
03:40Everybody has to shrink!
03:50Being an active member of his neighborhood is important to 24-year-old San Antonio resident Chris Hackert.
03:57I try to be compassionate when I can and help the community around me.
04:02The neighborhood's real small, and everyone's generally pretty friendly with each other, except for one person.
04:09Exactly!
04:10That one person, a woman who lives across the street from Chris, is a member of his community's HOA board.
04:17She is rude to people.
04:21She's very demanding and just harsh.
04:25It's part of my responsibility, unfortunately.
04:28According to Chris, she patrols their street in search of violations committed by homeowners.
04:34And Chris has taken it upon himself to start documenting it.
04:38Hey, don't come up to me.
04:40Don't come up to me.
04:42And it's not long before the woman leaves him a formal note from the HOA on his truck about his
04:47expired registration.
04:50Parked in front of my own house.
04:52They want to tow my truck.
04:55I thought it was really silly that I was being chased down for an expired registration sticker.
05:02It was none of her business.
05:04She is not a law enforcement officer.
05:06The following evening, Chris and his mother are talking with some of his neighbors in front of their house, when
05:12they're confronted by the woman.
05:14I've asked you why you're parking with expired tags.
05:18Get away from my truck.
05:19This is my street.
05:21I'm a homeowner.
05:22I own this street.
05:23What do you mean you own this street?
05:25You don't own this street.
05:26Nobody owns this street.
05:29A few weeks later, things get more heated.
05:32When after Thanksgiving dinner, the neighbor confronts Chris and his visiting relatives about where they're parked on the street.
05:39Why is there four cars parked right there and there was nobody parked in the driveway?
05:45So on Thanksgiving weekend, on Thanksgiving weekend.
05:47Excuse me, I'm talking to your mother.
05:49You need to go.
05:50Let's be done.
05:51Let's be done with this conversation.
05:53I'm on the board.
05:55You need to stop.
05:56Go.
05:57You need to leave.
05:58You don't tell me what to do.
06:00You have me confused.
06:07Why is there nobody parked in the driveway?
06:10Chris Hackard and his visiting relatives are out in front of his house after Thanksgiving dinner, when their aggressive neighbor
06:17and HOA board member confronts them about their cars parked in the street.
06:21You need to leave.
06:22You don't tell me what to do.
06:24You have me confused.
06:28The woman approaches Chris, who is recording the incident.
06:31Don't touch me.
06:33I could see in her eyes that she was going to hit me, but it was really shocking.
06:38The following day, upon returning from the store, Chris finds the neighbor recording him as he gets out of his
06:45truck in an apparent attempt to catch him driving with his expired registration.
06:49It's not legal for you to be driving when expired attacks in our community.
06:56I'll let people in the street.
06:57No, I don't help.
06:58And you hit them, right?
06:59I don't hit them.
07:00You didn't hit me?
07:01No.
07:01On camera?
07:04No.
07:09No.
07:11No.
07:11Nobody has any issues.
07:12Nobody has any issues.
07:12You're the one.
07:14Since that day, the neighbor is less aggressive.
07:17And while Chris has renewed his truck's registration, the neighbor continues to patrol the street in front of his house.
07:24Walking up to me again.
07:26There have been times where she tries to make it a point and walk as close to me as possible
07:31or just stare me down.
07:33As for Chris, he learns to shrug it off and not let her get the best of him.
07:38I really just laugh.
07:40It's kind of hilarious that she thinks she has some kind of power over me or anyone else.
07:46Have a good night.
07:47Go f*** yourself.
07:56Issues with pets make up nearly a third of complaints between neighbors in America.
08:02And a number of those have to do with doo-doo.
08:06Specifically, where the neighbor's pets do their business.
08:13Such is the case with this resident in Zephyr Hills, Florida, who is out walking his dog when he's approached
08:19by a hostile neighbor.
08:20Your dog can't f*** and f*** on people's ones, bro.
08:23It's a f***ing piece of s***.
08:24You f***ing piece of s***.
08:26Your dog's walking and I'm angry.
08:28The neighbor yelling off camera has a long-standing beef with the dog owner.
08:33Bring it over there.
08:34Take it out there, man.
08:36I'm good on the sidewalk, dude.
08:38You're on my lawn.
08:39Your dog is f***ing on my lawn.
08:42Why are you standing here arguing with me?
08:43Go.
08:44The neighbor's wife hears the commotion and comes outside to weigh in as well.
08:49Your husband's an angry person.
08:52My dog is legally allowed to walk on this property and do what he's doing.
08:57Your dog's allowed to f*** on my lawn.
09:00Yeah, as long as I pick it up.
09:02But the angry neighbor isn't just upset about the dog's poop.
09:06Your dog is f***ing on my lawn, too.
09:08Did you pick that up?
09:09You can't pick it up.
09:10You can't pick pee up.
09:11I know f***.
09:11So take your dog over there from now on and stop ruining people's lawns.
09:15I'm allowed to walk in my neighborhood down the sidewalk without being harassed by the psychopath.
09:21I don't go down to your house.
09:22Don't come down to my house.
09:24Apparently out of steam, the irritated neighbor finally heads back inside, leaving the man to finish walking his dog in
09:31relative peace.
09:32That would have been the smart thing, just to walk inside and not scream and yell at your neighbor.
09:36What a weirdo, dude.
09:45Fergus Falls is a very small town in rural southwest Minnesota, where Olivia Lemke lives with her husband, one-year
09:53-old daughter Blair, and their French bulldog Winnie.
09:57They keep to themselves and enjoy a simple life in a home they designed and constructed.
10:03We built our house from the ground up.
10:05We had a contractor to build the frame and the exterior, and then everything interior, my husband and I contracted
10:13out or did ourselves.
10:14They enjoyed the solitude and seclusion that their eight acres provide them.
10:19And it's a major reason why they choose to live there.
10:22It's very much country living.
10:24Our neighbors are far from us, but we can still see them.
10:27But that quiet and peaceful life is abruptly shattered one frigid February at 6.30 in the morning.
10:34I heard my door.
10:36I heard some shuffling around.
10:4130 seconds later, I heard, help, help.
10:45Help!
10:45And I ran out to my hallway and I saw a man I didn't know.
10:52He had a loaded shotgun in his hand.
10:55He had a loaded shotgun in his hand.
11:00Help!
11:02Help!
11:03Help!
11:04Fergus Falls, Minnesota.
11:05Wife and mother, Olivia Lemke, is jolted awake at 6.30 in the morning by screams for help from a
11:12man who's broken into her house.
11:17He had a loaded shotgun in his hand and I screamed.
11:21Help!
11:22I ran back into my bedroom, dialed 911 and walked out my bedroom door.
11:27And he wouldn't let me go past and told me that there were two men with guns chasing him outside.
11:37He then tried to enter my daughter's bedroom and I begged and pleaded him not to.
11:41And he didn't.
11:43Olivia retreats to her bedroom, confused and terrified.
11:50The feeling of a gun being pointed at you is horrendous.
11:57Protecting my daughter was my biggest concern.
12:02I don't know what's going to happen.
12:04Your mind goes to the worst places.
12:07Barricaded in her bedroom alone, Olivia stays on the phone with 911 while watching the armed intruder in her living
12:13room through the security camera app on her phone.
12:18No!
12:19He dispatched told me that an officer was outside so I quickly sprinted out my mudroom door and called for
12:26help.
12:27Police enter the house and arrest the man who later claims he is suffering a mental health episode.
12:36Olivia is terrified to find that the man is her neighbor.
12:41I didn't know the entire time.
12:43It was my neighbor.
12:44I had never met him before.
12:46I had no idea who he was.
12:48The county issues a restraining order against the neighbor.
12:51And even though he no longer lives next to Olivia and she has never seen him again, the shock of
12:57that day remains with her.
12:59I constantly think about it like this gross man was in my house holding me hostage.
13:04And she offers this piece of sound advice.
13:07I encourage everyone to lock your doors no matter where you live.
13:11If you think you live in a safe spot in this world, you don't.
13:14Help!
13:16Help!
13:24Drones have taken neighborhoods by storm all across America.
13:30And with sales reaching over a billion dollars a year, it appears that they're here to stay.
13:39And while some neighbors may be less than skilled at flying them,
13:50a select few particularly experienced operators take their piloting proficiency to the next level.
13:59This ingenious neighbor changes a light bulb without even getting off his couch.
14:09And in San Francisco, a particularly benevolent neighbor uses his expertise to deliver hamburgers to the homeless in his neighborhood.
14:23When a black bear cup gets a little too comfortable in this Colorado neighborhood, the talented drone operator knows just
14:30what to do.
14:31Just outside is this bear cup and it keeps coming back and eating on bird seed, which is really bad.
14:36Because if it gets too friendly with the neighborhood, you're going to have to kill it.
14:39And I'm going to get the drone in the air and go get him out of the neighborhood.
14:52And while some of our feral feathered neighbors may not take too kindly to drones invading their turf,
15:01our domesticated furry friends seem to have taken to them quite well.
15:17Wearing headphones on the train can sometimes lead to entanglements with the neighbors.
15:23And what may be music to some ears can be a distraction to others.
15:31Like on this London subway, where two women are recorded arguing over one's headphone volume.
15:37Hang on, and what did you say? Can I turn down my music?
15:40I've asked you many times politely.
15:42So?
15:42The woman in the hat claims she can't read due to her neighbor's music.
15:47I'm asking you to be quiet. I'm just going to read my paper every day.
15:49It's a very long hard day.
15:50We're not in school.
15:51We're not in school.
15:51You're behaving like a pupil.
15:53You get wind and you get me.
15:54Just play your music quietly. I'll be civil.
15:57They go back and forth, both continuing to provoke each other.
16:02If there wasn't other people I need to claim, I wouldn't play out loud.
16:05But you know what?
16:06Go on, play out loud. Go on, I dare you.
16:07Go on.
16:08You dare me?
16:08I dare you, go on.
16:09Who are you?
16:11Who are you?
16:12You dare me?
16:13Yes.
16:13You dare me to do what?
16:14The woman in red seems to be getting more frustrated.
16:18I requested you to turn it down politely.
16:20And I've got nothing but both of you.
16:22But moments later, the bickering crosses over into physical contact.
16:27I asked you to do this.
16:29Do not touch me.
16:30With these two seat neighbors continuing to gain steam, their argument is threatening to go off the rails.
16:36Do not touch me.
16:37Do not touch me.
16:39Do not touch me.
16:42I asked you to do this.
16:44Do not touch me.
16:45Do not touch me.
16:45On a London subway, a pair of loud headphones is pushing two women toward a face-off.
16:51How many times did you touch me?
16:52I did not touch myself.
16:54And any chance of resolution may have already left the station.
16:58Mom!
16:59You're very rude!
17:00You are very, very, very rude!
17:02The woman in red begins comparing her neighbor to a school marm.
17:06Oh!
17:07Oh!
17:07Oh!
17:07Oh!
17:08Oh!
17:08Oh!
17:08You're very rude!
17:09Get in, sit over there!
17:10Get in, sit over there!
17:10Go on, baby!
17:10Listen!
17:12But it's the woman in the hat who gets the last word.
17:16I asked you nicely, and you frankly ignored me.
17:18I'm sorry, love.
17:20I'm sorry.
17:20But you think you're so high and nice, you can do whatever you want.
17:23You cannot.
17:23so a friendly reminder to keep music to a considerate level on the train or you may
17:33end up going head-to-head phones with your neighbor in a neighborhood just outside Atlanta
17:47Georgia a delivery driver making his rounds is suddenly approached by a woman who starts
17:52questioning him so he begins recording you need to give me somebody's information to check up on you
