00:23Hello out there, Peabody and Sherman here.
00:25The Wayback Machine, my incomparable invention for traveling through time, has been set for the year 1513.
00:31Which direction are we heading, Mr. Peabody?
00:34South Sherman, specifically Florida.
00:36And our host will be the illustrious Spanish explorer Ponce de Leon, the man who sought the fabled fountain of
00:42youth.
00:43The Wayback took us way back instantly to a small clearing in the heart of the Florida Everglades.
00:48We saw no sign of Ponce de Leon or his men, merely a large tent with a white object flying
00:53above it.
00:54Ponce de Leon's flag, Mr. Peabody.
00:56That's no flag, Sherman. That is a baby's bib.
01:00What's more, as we rounded the tent, the clearing abounded in diapers, and there slaving over a washtub was the
01:05distinguished explorer.
01:07Oh, Mondays. How I detest Mondays.
01:11Buenos dias, Ponce de Leon.
01:13Buenos dias. Ah, tourists. You are on your way to Palm Beach, no doubt.
01:18No, Mr. de Leon. We came to see if we couldn't help you find the fountain of youth.
01:23Oh, that's very noble of you. But it has already been discovered.
01:27You found it?
01:28Oh, not me. My men. That is them over there playing with blacks.
01:32They were grown men when they reached the fountain. And they were very thirsty.
01:37Drank too much?
01:38Si. Now, instead of blowing taps each night, I play Brahms lullaby. Oh, it's very degrading.
01:45We accepted Ponce's invitation to stay for lunch and sat down to a large bowl of mush.
01:50The luncheon progressed nicely, although I was forced into burping Lieutenant Rodriguez, three months of age.
01:55We were about to embark on a custard pudding when Ponce noticed that one of his men was missing.
02:00Cooper Algonzales. He's not in his high chair.
02:03A quick search of the grounds turned up nothing, not even a clue.
02:06Oh, that's not like Gonzales to go AWOL. He was always a most conscientious soldier. He would not crawl away.
02:13Gee, Mr. Peabody, a little baby like that lost in the Everglades.
02:17Perhaps he was thirsty. And if he was thirsty, he may be heading for the fountain.
02:20Quick, Ponce, lead us to the fountain.
02:23Gonzales couldn't stand growing any younger.
02:25Ponce de Leon issued orders for his command to remain in their barracks.
02:29Which is to say, he unceremoniously dumped them into a playpen.
02:32Five minutes later, we arrived at the fountain of youth.
02:34Look! It's the baby and he's going to drink!
02:37Attention! Stand at attention!
02:39But the glass never wavered. Glancing about, I noticed a rattlesnake slumbering blissfully on the limb of a nearby tree.
02:45With a deft hand, I shook his rattles, taking care not to rouse him.
02:48Naturally, the sound of the rattle arrested the attention of Corporal Gonzales.
02:52Corporal Gonzales, you are under arrest and hereby confined to your bassinet.
02:57We returned to the clearing and prepared to give Ponce de Leon's soldier a change of uniform.
03:02That's when the attack started.
03:03Indians! The Seminole Indians!
03:06Herding the soldiers together, we retreated inside Ponce de Leon's tent.
03:10I knew that sooner or later they would find us. Quick, issue each man a musket.
03:15Musket? They can't even hold a bottle.
03:17What'll we do, Mr. Peabody? We're outnumbered!
03:20Only one thing to do, Sherman. Fight fire with fire.
03:23I waited until darkness, then crept slowly out of camp. Then, suddenly, I was in the midst of the Seminoles.
03:30Why we not attack them in darkness? Why must Indian always wait till dawn?
03:36We take them pictures of battle. No gut flashbulb for night fighting.
03:41Assured the Seminoles wouldn't attack till daylight, I continued on.
03:44Then, early the following morning, I rejoined Sherman and Ponce.
03:47Senor Peabody! Quick! I think the Indians are about to attack!
03:51But instead of attacking, the Seminole chief came into the clearing all alone.
03:56A white flag! They've surrendered!
03:58Again, you're wrong, Sherman. That white flag is a diaper.
04:02You see, last night I went to the Fountain of Youth, took a generous supply of the water and prepped
04:05into the Seminole camp.
04:06While the Indians were sleeping, I spiked their water supply.
04:09But if that is true, then the Indians are...
04:13Babies? Yes.
04:15And at that very moment, four of the most ferocious braves crawled out of the brush.
04:20White man, I come in peace.
04:23I have talcum to trade for diapers.
04:26And so the battle never came off.
04:28In fact, Ponce and the Seminole chief became such good friends, they erected the Fountain of Youth Nursery School.
04:33Well, all's well that ends well, Mr. Peabody.
04:36Precisely, Sherman.
04:37By the way, what is that you have in your hand?
04:39This? Oh, just an old rusty key I found in the dirt.
04:42Well, congratulations, my boy. You are now a landowner.
04:46Landowner, Mr. Peabody?
04:47Of course, Sherman. You now own one of the Florida Keys.
