00:34It has a rich history of iconic culinary products that are held in high regard all over the world.
00:39Those products include Parmigiano Reggiano and Prosciutto di Parma.
00:43Because of its unique blend of talent, tradition and innovation, Parma has been officially declared
00:49a UNESCO-created city for gastronomy.
00:52Parma isn't just a source for excellent food, it's a way of life.
00:56Its art, music and signature dishes make Parma an extraordinary travel destination.
01:03The Michelin Guide was launched over a hundred years ago.
01:07The Michelin Brothers wanted drivers to get the most out of their journeys and since then
01:11the Michelin Guide has become the standard for gastronomy around the world.
01:15One of the strengths of the Michelin Guide is that when you go into a Michelin-selected
01:19restaurant anywhere in the world, you know it's been judged in exactly the same way.
01:23Michelin inspectors are full-time employees.
01:26They eat in restaurants anonymously and they always pay their bills.
01:30In addition to looking for quality, they look for consistency and high standards over time.
01:34The Michelin Guide is really for everybody, all occasions and all budgets.
01:38Some people might not realize that the Michelin Guide has hundreds of restaurants,
01:42but most of them don't have stars.
01:44The fact that a restaurant is in the Michelin Guide means our inspectors have visited and
01:48have found excellent quality on the plate.
01:50We have a particular distinction called the Bib Gourmand that represents particularly good value for money.
01:54And this year, we'll introduce a new distinction for restaurants with good cuisine.
01:59Quality of product, the chef's know-how, just a good meal.
02:02Michelin inspectors are able to reflect new trends and new evolutions on the gastronomic scene.
02:07And these evolutions are illustrated in each new edition.
