00:00When I chose to come out to the judges at Miss England, I wasn't thinking about what the rest of
00:05the world might think.
00:06I was only thinking about sharing a story in the moment, being my authentic self.
00:11Going to Miss World, yes, they could have picked a country where it may not have been legal,
00:16and that potentially could have been a problem that I would have to overcome.
00:20Luckily enough, it is in a country where it's not illegal and everyone's going to be 100% accepting.
00:27However, that was always a worry, and I think that is why part of me didn't want to mention it
00:32straight away.
00:33I think it's hard being a young person because you want to speak out about things that you feel passionate
00:39about,
00:40but also not if that's going to be a detriment to your potential career and the industry you want to
00:44work in.
00:45So I think that's a difficult thing that a lot of young people go through at the moment.
00:49For me, choosing to be my authentic self was the only way forward.
00:52I wouldn't have wanted to hide it, and I don't think if I'd won and had to hide it,
00:57I don't think I would have been as proud of myself as I am now.
