00:06An early tough test on the opening drive. This is third and eight.
00:16On third down, Ryan. And that is incomplete. He was hoping to get that one to Tevin Coleman in space.
00:25And that brings up fourth down.
00:35So on fourth down, the Falcons will call on Matt Boscher to putt it away.
00:40Back deep here, Marcus Murphy.
00:50Murphy now to return.
00:53Give him 11 yards that time on the return.
00:56And the Saints will take over with a first down and 10.
01:00And here come the Saints for their opening drive. They're led out by their six-foot quarterback.
01:06You may have heard of him. From Purdue, it's Drew Brees.
01:09And when you think of Drew Brees, you think of production and you think of competitiveness.
01:14That guy competes on every snap. Whether he's throwing it, moving around in the pocket, calling plays, you name it.
01:22He knows how to rally a team.
01:38On first and 10, here's Brees.
01:41Caught right side. It's Snead.
01:43And he'll get it up to the 33-yard line.
01:46Give him a couple on the catch. It's second and eight.
01:50The head shots here are the offensive unit.
01:52And what about Brandon Cooks?
01:53If he's not a 1,000-yard receiver every year, he's healthy in the league, I'll be surprised.
01:58Came out of college wanting to be a pro.
02:01Studied all the best receivers in the NFL before he even got to the league.
02:09So they complete the pass, and now they face a second down.
02:19Now Brees throwing on second down.
02:22Snead's got it.
02:23And he'll bring it up here to right at the 40-yard line.
02:27It's a gain of seven, and that's going to make it third down in less than a yard.
02:31When you see zone defense, and you know you've got a drag route on as your primary call,
02:36you've got to be really careful as a passer about how far you let your guy go,
02:40because he might wander into some tough coverage.
02:52Brees going to try and throw on third down, surveying the field.
02:56This is caught, but it's Cooks.
02:59And he will have first down yardage as he's brought down at the 41.
03:03And the play goes for 19 yards, gives him a new set of downs.
03:08He's such a good route runner, shows it there on third down.
03:12Very proficient and a good pass.
03:13And you know what I've observed over the years in the NFL?
03:16The better a route runner you are, the more confidence your guy's going to have in you
03:21to go to you in important times, because he can trust you being in the right spot.
03:25And they connected there and picked up a first down.
03:30They'll run for the first time with Mark Ingram.
03:33And brought down, but able to get it to their 30-yard line.
03:38It's a gain of 11 yards that time, and it produces a new set of downs.
03:42How many times do we say in this game that speed kills, and it does it in so many different
03:47ways?
03:47In this case, you've got a back who's quick and shifty.
03:51Can make moves, make people miss, but also gets to and through a hole before it can close down.
03:57That's some of the benefits of that speed, not just outrunning people in the secondary.
04:00And that led to a really nice game.
04:02Fresh set of downs here.
04:12Throwing on first down is Breeze.
04:15Caught by Snead over the middle.
04:17And he's able to get it to the edge of the red zone at the 20-yard line.
04:21It'll be a pickup of 10 yards.
04:23And it'll be second and very short.
04:26Well, coaches always talk about finding balance on offense.
04:29I'm going to get much more balance than this.
04:31Big-time run, big-time pass.
04:33That's a one-two combination.
04:35Looked pretty good.
04:36How about that?
04:37Let's see if they can continue to take that kind of a punch, though.
04:46On second down, Ingram.
04:48And he'll take it down here just shy of the 15 at the 16-yard line.
04:51It's a gain of four there, and it gives him a new set of downs.
04:55Second and inches is oftentimes an invitation for an offense coordinator to take a big shot downfield
05:01because he feels like he can come back on third down to pick up the first down.
05:04But sometimes you just don't want to break tendency.
05:07Stay with what you are.
05:08Stay with who you know.
05:09And go get the first down.
05:11That's exactly what they did.
05:18Breeze now on first down.
05:20His strike clock hit about the five.
05:23It's a nice pickup at 12 yards, and it gives him a burst and goal.
05:27This offense is in rhythm now, just accumulating first downs and moving the ball downfield.
05:51And the first carry for the former Clemson Tigers, C.J. Spiller.
05:56And he takes it across and into the end zone.
05:59Touchdown Saints.
06:00Saints, C.J. Spiller, taking it in from four yards out.
06:06And the Saints have taken the early lead.
06:09Solid job up front, really just a solid job all the way around to get that one in.
06:13It was well executed, wasn't it?
06:15Well blocked, well run, and result, six points.
06:19Touchdown.
06:24Kai Forbath on for the extra point.
06:30And it's good as the Saints have a seven-to-nothing lead.
06:38So that drive takes him down the field in eight plays.
06:41And it results in a four-yard touchdown run.
06:44And it's good as the Saints have a seven-to-one lead.
06:45And it's good as the Saints have a seven-to-one lead.
06:46And it's good as the Saints have a seven-to-one lead.
06:49And it's good as the Saints have a seven-to-one lead.
06:53And it's good as the Saints have a seven-to-one lead.
07:00And it's good as the Saints have a seven-to-one lead.
07:01And it's good as the Saints have a seven-to-one lead.
07:02And it's good as the Saints have a seven-to-one lead.
07:03And it's good as the Saints have a seven-to-one lead.
07:04And it's good as the Saints have a seven-to-one lead.
07:06And it's good as the Saints have a seven-to-one lead.
07:07And it's good as the Saints have a seven-to-one lead.
07:13Morstead out now, following the touchdown, the kick.
07:19On the return, the old reliable Devin Hester, the veteran.
07:23And he'll take it up past the 25 to the 26-yard line.
07:31The Saints defense ready to set up shop again here.
07:35They were able to force the three and out last time, led to the punt,
07:38and then led to a touchdown for their crew.
07:40So they'll be looking for a little bit more of that, Charles.
07:43Well, I think that they created the spark with the three and out.
07:46Gave a little momentum to their offenses.
07:48They said, all right, appreciate it, guys.
07:49And they took the ball downfield and stuck it in the end zone.
07:52And that defense wasn't out there long.
07:54They'll be trying to keep it short here.
08:09They'll run for the first time with Devontae Freeman.
08:12A beautiful spin and room to run.
08:17Devontae Freeman, they're not going to get him.
08:21Touchdown, Falcons.
08:24Devontae Freeman, 73 yards.
08:28And the Falcons are an extra point away from tying the football game.
08:32They blitzed defensively there, but he was able to slip through that first layer,
08:36and then he was gone.
08:37I think they won the leverage game, didn't they?
08:39Yes.
08:40Right?
08:40They saw the blitz coming.
08:41That got to him a little bit, but they leveraged it perfectly
08:44and found not just a crease, a gigantic hole.
08:48And off he goes, and he's still going all the way to the end zone.
08:54Now Matt Bryant on for the point after.
09:03It's good, and we're all tied at seven apiece.
