00:03taking the Texans to the playoffs, right?
00:05And then bang, right after that,
00:06we're like, we're not going to see a guy like that for a long time.
00:09Jaden Daniels gets drafted by Washington.
00:12He takes the Washington Commandos to the NFC Championship game.
00:16And you look what those guys did in their rookie seasons, right?
00:19About 8,000 yards combined, almost 50 touchdowns,
00:23interceptions in the single digits, and both did winning records, right?
00:27And both went to the playoffs and advanced in the playoffs, right?
00:31Both of them.
00:31So you're like, man, oh, man.
00:33So there becomes now an expectation if I'm a lousy franchise,
00:39just to say, like, you know, the Titans, the Jaguars, whoever,
00:42the Panthers, the Jets, and I'm picking, you know, top five in the draft,
00:47and I'm going to get what I think is my next franchise quarterback,
00:50I now have this unrealistic expectation
00:53that my guy is going to be what Washington got out of Jaden Daniels
00:58and what the Houston Texans got out of C.J. Stroud.
01:02That's why the more I think about it,
01:05and this is a good thing for those two guys and their franchises,
01:07because they're both rock stars,
01:09they've ruined it, though, for every other franchise
01:12and every other quarterback that's now going to be drafted
01:16and viewed as the savior of a franchise, right?
01:20Jalen Hurts didn't have a great rookie season.
01:23He didn't.
01:23To the contrary.
01:24Right.
01:25He did not.
01:26Most guys don't.
01:27Trevor Lawrence looked okay, not great,
01:30and obviously his career hasn't panned out the way people thought,
01:33but you can look at almost every overall first-round pick
01:36that is a quarterback,
01:37and you can acknowledge that guy didn't come out, you know,
01:41guns blazing and have that level of success.
01:44It's rare that it happens.
01:46So I'm watching the game last night.
01:48I'm like, what should my expectation be for J.J. McCarthy?
01:54Like, should I just expect,
01:55because I just saw it with Jaden Daniels in Washington,
01:59because I saw it the year before with C.J. Stroud in Houston,
02:02that Minnesota fans should expect J.J. McCarthy to be that good?
02:07But that's not fair.
02:08No way.
02:09Because we know quarterbacks in their rookie season
02:11are supposed to struggle, right?
02:13J.J. was terrible for two-and-a-half quarters,
02:16and then somehow, someway, maybe it's Chicago's fault, I don't know,
02:20the light went off, and all of a sudden,
02:23dude's throwing crisp passes, dude's reading the defense,
02:26he's stepping up in the pocket,
02:27he's running for first downs and touchdowns,
02:29he's finding open guys, right?
02:32Yeah.
02:33And then I'm saying to myself,
02:34well, the Chicago Bears are in the same spot.
02:36They get a guy a year ago
02:37who's supposed to be a generational talent,
02:40they've still never had a 4,000-yard passer,
02:42they've still never had a quarterback
02:44that's thrown for 30 touchdowns in a single season.
02:47Oh, well, this will be different,
02:49because now he's got the offensive genius of Ben Johnson, right?
02:53Right.
02:53And Ben Johnson, as the coach of Caleb Williams,
02:56is going to turn Caleb Williams into whom?
02:59C.J. Stroud and or J. Daniels.
