The Auburn Tigers were shocked by Milwaukee in Game 1 of the Auburn Regional. They found themselves down 10-0, and manager Butch Thompson admitted he started planning for the rest of the tournament.

00:00Yeah, just Milwaukee was just superior offensively, and their at-bats were for nine innings,
00:05so I give them a ton of credit.
00:08Marciano and Cormier, those guys, we've played six or seven games in a row with throwing two guys a ball
00:14game,
00:14and they got through our guys here in three-plus innings, so I think that was a difference in the
00:19game.
00:20They swung the bats.
00:21I think they had four runs on the first 16 pitches of the ball game,
00:26but their at-bats were threatening for the entire day.
00:29So I think that's about eight games in a row, scoring 10 runs, and we couldn't slow them down today.
00:35And really, I don't think we had a freebie, a hit-bat or anything, until Cormier was in there at
00:43some point,
00:43but that was more just hit, hit, hit.
00:46And even if they found some grass on a pitch or two, they just had two big three-run homers
00:51and was clicking it in and playing good baseball.
00:54I don't think we made an error in the ball game.
00:56And the only thing I tried to accomplish today, because that's not the game you want to try to coach,
01:01was every pitcher.
01:02We was getting them in and out, understanding what's before us of having to win four games in a row
01:08now.
01:08And every pitcher it pitched today, including the first two, if we could get through tomorrow
01:14and have a chance as early as Sunday, where every pitcher that we put out there today could come back
01:19and factor in if we could come back out and try to right the ship tomorrow and win a baseball
01:26game.
