00:01One evening we found Otto alone on the side of a road in Sicily.
00:06He was a little scared at first, but his tail started wagging,
00:10relieved that someone had finally stopped for him.
00:15He was thin and exhausted, with skinny shoes and big sad eyes.
00:20We couldn't imagine what he had been through to end up like that.
00:25The first thing we did was bringing somewhere safe.
00:29On the beach, where two gentle stray dogs already live,
00:33so we could start caring for him.
00:36Then we took him to the vet.
00:37Blood tests revealed that Otto has two serious diseases.
00:42The good news is that he's young, which means he was able to start treatment.
00:47And in just a few days, he regained his appetite,
00:52sleeps more peacefully,
00:54and has started working with us and bonding with the other dogs.
00:59Because his immune system is weak, with the help of Antonio,
01:03a local volunteer who has been caring for the village's stray dogs for years,
01:07we built Otto a small winter shelter.
01:09He loved it immediately, and now spend his night there, safe and warm.
01:16Despite everything he's been through,
01:19Otto is incredibly gentle and sweet,
01:23slowly learning to trust again and enjoy life.
01:27Otto!
01:30Unfortunately, we know how to leave Sicily,
01:33and can't take Otto with us,
01:35as we travel in our van with two senior dogs,
01:37and will soon rescue another Sicilian dog.
01:41Our local friend Antonio will continue his treatment for now,
01:45but Otto urgently needs to find a loving forever home.
01:49If someone is willing to open their heart and home to him,
01:53we can help arrange his transport to the mainland.
01:57Our road trip through Sicily started as an adventure,
02:00but seeing so many stray dogs in need,
02:03turned it into a mission to help as many as we can.
02:08In a month, we'll be back in Sicily,
02:10and we've set up a fundraiser to continue our mission
02:13of helping as many stray dogs as possible.
