00:00So the NBA lottery is going to change. And it would appear, Carlin, that if you have one of the
00:04worst three records in the NBA, it doesn't guarantee that you have the most ping pong balls moving forward. That
00:09was my biggest takeaway of all of it. Was that yours as well? Or was there something more to it?
00:14It just seems like something had to be done to stop teams from basically not playing players in that second
00:21half. Like some of the stuff Utah was doing was just crazy.
00:24Yeah, it's a dramatic change, right? Like you go from the current lottery system, if you're in the bottom three,
00:29you have a 14% chance of getting that number one pick. Now you go down to a 5.4
00:34% chance of getting that top slot. So being one of the worst teams in the NBA isn't beneficial anymore
00:40because teams 21 through 27 actually have a better chance of getting the number one pick in this new system.
00:47It's an 8.1% chance of landing that top spot.
00:50So, you know, hopefully this does curve tanking. I don't think it will completely eliminate it because you're always going
00:56to have drafts like this one where there's generational talents there and people are going to say, hey, it is
01:01better for me to lose so I can win later than to win these games and kind of stay in
01:06this stagnant and no man's land. That's the worst place to be in the NBA.
01:10There are a lot of teams, you ask around the league right now, Craig, who are in that no man's
01:13land that wishes they can get a number one overall pick in a draft like this.
01:18So, you know, 2027, I don't think we'll feel the impact of it because that draft isn't expected to be
01:23as good as this one.
01:24It's going to be a little while before we get something that's generational like this draft.
01:28So, you know, not only is the tanking going to change, but trades are also going to change going forward
01:33in the NBA.
01:33And that's the interesting part to me.
