00:00Well, the Texans, obviously the OTAs begin this week.
00:03They're still going on.
00:04Is there somebody, though, is there a name that we're kind of sleeping on
00:08that might be a sneaky good addition
00:11and could make a huge difference for this team
00:13that we're sleeping on right now?
00:16And, John, you brought this up because of what you heard
00:19from some of the players, even from D'Amico Ryans and some of the audio.
00:23Yeah, so we were, obviously, we played D'Amico Ryans live yesterday
00:27after the second day of OTAs, and unsolicited.
00:32Figgy, I know you have this.
00:35D'Amico 8?
00:36Yeah.
00:37D'Amico 8, because he wasn't really talking.
00:40Well, let's listen to it, and unsolicited he brings this name up.
00:43For us, it's an emphasis on every position.
00:46Every position on our team has to improve, and our tight end room,
00:51we added Foster.
00:52Foster's brought great veteran presence, leadership.
00:55He's done a great job of just, you know, he's a football guy.
00:59You talk about a guy who knows how to have fun at practice, lighten up.
01:03You talk about a guy who brings joy to the room.
01:06You know, that's Foster.
01:07He's done a great job of working with Marlon as well.
01:09And added Marlon, getting Brevin back.
01:11Got some young guys who are truly young at their position
01:15and still have a lot of room to grow.
01:17So I'm excited about the growth potential of the room from the tight end position.
01:21All right, so he's asked about, at large, that position group,
01:24and really went on and on about Foster Moreau.
01:26And then I'm listening to, shout out to Tyler Milner, you know,
01:29cutting up some of the other stuff that we heard yesterday.
01:33And Woody Marks cut five, Figgy.
01:36Woody Marks five.
01:37I'm going through Woody's stuff there, and then this happens.
01:41Very calm, being a great leader, doing things outside.
01:45It's team bonding.
01:46I say this will make the best team.
01:48We all get together, and you come in our locker room, you'll be like,
01:51these guys have fun together.
01:53New guys coming in.
01:54I'll say one exception, one is Foster.
01:56Tight end, he come in.
01:58It was just like, it looked like he'd been here for three years,
02:00how connected he is.
02:02And I say that tight end room is pretty tight right there.
02:04So I know they got a lot of competition going on, but they real tight.
02:07He was asked about C.J. Stroud.
02:09That was a question about C.J. Stroud.
02:11And he goes to Foster Moreau.
02:13And remember, when they brought him in, and I knew every little detail of his career,
02:19but I've always liked that guy, and I mentioned it on the show.
02:22Yeah, you and Reggie are pretty high on him.
02:24Yeah, and all of a sudden, he was asked about C.J. Stroud
02:27and starts talking about Foster Moreau.
02:29And then you couple that with what we know they want to do more of with this offense.
02:35You know, obviously, more tight ends.
02:38They said a lot of good things about Brevin Jordan.
02:40They've drafted Marlon Klein, and you have this Foster Moreau.
02:44And then, of course, you have Dalton Schultz.
02:47Could Foster Moreau be, like, a bigger part of things,
02:49especially with more 12 and 13 personnel that they're going to run?
02:53Yeah, I think so, to that last point that you just mentioned.
02:55I think it's just going to be a big part of this offense.
02:59And this isn't the first time.
03:00I believe I've heard you guys before play audio from D'Amico, like, raving about him, right?
03:04He's spoken highly about Foster Moreau because it does seem to fit perfectly
03:08into what they would like to do, where Dalton Schultz could be more of the pass catcher
03:12and then Foster Moreau is more of that blocker
03:14and have that essentially six offensive lineman to further help out the run game
03:19and add that physicality to the offense and be able to run downhill.
03:23And then also, the other part of it, too, is just the increase of tight ends now,
03:29just simply off of last year, which seems to be this new trend
03:32where the Rams were the ones leading the way, where they were using three tight ends
03:36for a lot of their snaps.
03:38And, of course, you know, Nick Haley has that connection to Sean McVay.
03:42So, you know, just in general, even outside of wanting to run the football, of course,
03:46and be more of that run-first type of offense, even outside of that,
03:49just being able to use multiple tight ends now to try to catch the defense
03:53in awkward mismatches, maybe that becomes more of a thing
03:56where you see multiple tight ends on the field more often.
03:59And like I said, you already have Schultz,
04:00and then Moreau would be that next guy who's more of the blocker,
04:03can go out and catch a few balls as well.
04:05But certainly, the way they're talking about it,
04:07whenever you bring up somebody unprompted like that,
04:10that's high praise, right?
04:11That's how it happens.
04:12Yeah, so I think so.
04:13I think he could be a big part.
04:15Look, whether it works out, whether he has a good year or no,
04:18I think he'll have a big role in this offense for sure.
04:21Well, I think that last thing you said is what it is.
04:23You know, clearly Dalton Schultz, you know, receiver,
04:26can do a little bit of blocking, but I wouldn't rely on him,
04:29and we found that out in 2024, you know, on islands and such.
04:32Foster Moreau, he can catch the ball.
04:35Didn't have a good year receiving last year in 11 games,
04:38only had seven receptions.
04:41He's with the Saints, though, right?
04:42With the Saints.
04:43But in the four years before that,
04:45even though he's quote-unquote a blocker,
04:4630 catches and three touchdowns.
04:4933 catches and two touchdowns.
04:5225 catches and, excuse me, 21 catches and one touchdown.
04:56And then in 2024, 32 receptions and five touchdowns.
05:00He's the other guy.
05:02At least until he's supplanted by Brevin Jordan or Marlon Klein or whatever.
05:06You know, they brought him in, and I'm like, kind of like him.
05:10I think he is going to be out there a lot more than we expected.
05:13There's going to be some tough decisions in that tight end room, man.
05:16Yeah, at least early, I think he would.
05:18Yeah, and I've always said this, and obviously part of it is kind of tongue-in-cheek.
05:22I've always liked Foster Moreau, in part because the last name is similar to mine.
05:27But I've always thought he actually has been a pretty good tight end
05:29and an underrated tight end.
05:30I mean, he's not your George Kittle.
05:31He might not even be your starter, but he's a good addition to any tight end room.
05:35And they're talking about using Cade Stover as more of an H-back and a fullback,
05:39so that kind of slots him over here.
05:41Right, and then Brevin Jordan and Dalton Schultz can be more of those weapons
05:45than the pass catchers.
05:46And it goes back to what I just said of, I don't know how often it's going to happen,
05:49but it is becoming a thing in the NFL of using three tight ends at one time.
05:53And so you could have those two guys are more of the dynamic pass catchers
05:58and that option on the field as well, assuming Brevin Jordan is even healthy as well.
06:02So I think tight ends just in general.
06:04If you're going to use Stover more in the backfield, if Brevin Jordan is healthy this year,
06:08he can be a weapon for this offense.
06:10I think Dalton Schultz will be a big aspect.
06:13I mean, he's really, today on paper, I would say Schultz is your second best pass catcher
06:16on this offense, and then Moreau as kind of your jack of all trades at the tight end position.
06:23So I think just in general, that tight end room, if everyone's healthy,
06:27can play a very big role in the offense just overall this year.
06:31I mean, they have five guys, including a draft pick in the second round.
06:34That's true.
06:34I didn't even mention him.
06:35Yeah.
06:36You know, Marlon Klein, Kate Stover, Brevin Jordan, Foster Merle, Dalton Schultz.
06:39They have another tight end on the roster as well.
06:42Well, who knows, Lane Pryor.
06:43But let's say those five guys, they're easily going to keep four, right?
06:49I would think.
06:51Especially if you're going to go 12 and 13 a lot.
06:54Heck, you know, who knows how many they're going to keep.
06:57And he also kind of bragged about Brevin Jordan just health-wise, you know, yesterday.
07:01So it did make me go, like, I was listening to him get asked about C.J. Stroud.
07:07He goes, all right, let me tell you about Foster Moreau.
07:09Yeah, I know you asked about this guy, but let me actually tell you about somebody else.
07:12Yeah.
07:13Yeah, it is a pretty competitive tight end room now that you mention it.
07:15Because you have that draft pick who you just invested in.
07:18Brevin Jordan, obviously the health is a problem, but D'Amico said some good things about him yesterday.
07:22And when healthy, you know, maybe we still need to see more to truly believe it,
07:27but I think we know what he's capable of.
07:29Obviously, Dalton Schultz and then Foster Moreau they seem to be high on.
07:32So it has become a bit of a competitive tight end room.
07:35Kate Stover might be that odd man out.
07:38We're trying to work him at fullback.
07:39Maybe that's a way to be able to keep him on the roster still by having a fullback and four
07:43tight ends.
07:45But yeah, yeah, it's suddenly you feel a little bit better about that tight end room this offseason
07:50than maybe a year ago.
07:52And also in regards to the Foster Moreau conversation, like how,
07:56do you think that was something that was lacking last year for this offense,
07:59is having that blocking ability?
08:01Oh, absolutely.
08:02Right.
08:02Well, having the blocking ability with at least some hint of a threat as a pass catcher.
08:08And he's more than a hint.
08:09Like I said, I went through his numbers.
08:10I mean, he's had, you know, 30 catches, which is not a ton, but enough to be that threat.
08:15And multiple touchdowns for several years until last year.
08:19No, that's what made me think about it.
08:21Because with the way these offenses are going and with him doing that,
08:27no, I think absolutely this is going to be a big part of their offense.
08:31They've never had that guy.
08:33Either Kate Stover, just a blocker.
08:36Brevin Jordan considered more of just a receiver.
08:39Martin Klein, who knows they're going to try to make him that.
08:41But now they finally have Dalton Schultz, can block a little bit,
08:45but really a pass catcher.
08:46And Foster Moreau can block, but can still be a pass catcher.
08:51I think that's the key thing that they got.
08:52Yeah, the versatility certainly helps a lot.
08:54But again, Patriots offense.
08:56Yeah.
08:56Two tight ends.
08:57Yeah, it's true.
08:57Two tight ends on the field.
08:58It's true.
08:59I think we'll get a lot of that.
09:00Jordan on YouTube said,
09:02Foster is a top 10 pass protector and top 15 run blocking tight end.
09:06At 6'4".
09:07And a half, 255 pounds.
09:09Yes, he will be used a lot this year if he can stay healthy, he adds.
09:14And somebody else said,
09:15Kate Stover is gone.
09:17Somebody else said a place for Kate Stover is the sideline or off the team.
09:21That's a little harsh.
09:21But yeah, Kate Stover might be the odd man out right now in that tight end room.
09:26But I think I feel a lot better.
09:28I think it's deeper right now than it is a year ago.
09:31Because you had Moreau, you had the draft pick,
09:32you had a healthy Brevin Jordan.
09:34It's a much better tight end room than it was getting ready for last season.
09:37Yeah, it just got me thinking he might be one that we're kind of sleeping on.
09:41And be able to see a lot more of once preseason and training camp begins.
09:45It's fair.
09:46It's a fair thought.
09:46And we'll see how often he continues to be raved about by his coach and his teammates here
09:51leading up to the season.
