Listen to what Felix Gall, Chris Harper, Mathys Rondel, Jai Hindley, Afonso Eulálio and Davide Piganzoli have to say ahead of stage 19 of the Giro d'Italia 2026!

The Giro d’Italia is one of the most prestigious cycling tours in existence. After last year’s thrilling battle, in which Simon Yates defeated Richard Carapaz and Isaac del Toro, the peloton returns for another three weeks of top-level racing. Jonas Vingegaard, representing Team Visma–Lease a Bike, will be aiming to claim his first Giro title. The 24-year-old Giulio Pellizzari will try to stop him, as will Derek Gee-West, Felix Gall, Enric Mas, and Adam Yates, who would no doubt love to follow in his brother’s footsteps. With plenty of opportunities for both sprinters and attacking riders, everything is in place for three weeks of thrilling and unpredictable racing!

00:00Felix, what comes to your mind when you see a few climbs on a mountain course?
00:07It's a Queen Stage today. It's going to be a big battle.
00:12It's a super hard day. I think it's going to suit me.
00:18I'm ready. A little bit of excitement, a little bit nervous, but I'm ready for today.
00:28What is a Queen Stage or how to make it the Queen Stage?
00:33Well, if you look at the final climb, it's not super long, but it's very steep.
00:39Blockhouse was the harder finish, but today we had so much climbing before.
00:45There is already a lot of fatigue in the peloton, and then with all the climbs before the final today,
00:51we're going to see quite some big gaps.
00:53And then on the final climb, I think it's just whoever has the best legs.
00:58For you, is it about defending the second place or doing something different?
01:04It's racing for the podium for me, defending the second place.
01:09Yeah, but there's nothing really special I can do. I think it's about the legs.
01:16You won the second last stage last year.
01:19Do you want to wait for the second last stage again, or would you be happy to win again today?
01:25I think I'd be happy to win any stage at the Giro. So yeah, I mean, today's a good opportunity.
01:31It's a hard stage. Tomorrow's another hard stage. So yeah, we'll see how the legs are the next couple of
01:37days.
01:37And yeah, hopefully they're good.
01:39Looking at what Visma does, do you think today they are happy if a breakaway wins?
01:46I'm not too sure, and I don't know whether it's completely up to Visma.
01:49I mean, there's still a big fight for the podium of the Giro.
01:54So yeah, I mean, it's interesting to see what the other teams that are close to the podium do, not
01:59just Visma.
02:00So yeah, I mean, maybe Visma want to go for the stage, but maybe another team want to put some
02:09pressure on and see if they can secure a podium or something like this.
02:15Do you also see a fight for the top ten?
02:19For me personally or just in general? I mean, yeah, I guess it's always nice to be in the top
02:27ten of a Grand Tour.
02:29And yeah, guys, you know, like Caruso put himself in the top ten the other day.
02:34So yeah, I think today's another day where obviously there can be big time gaps.
02:40So for sure, I think guys are definitely thinking about it.
02:44That is your first time during the third week of a Grand Tour. How do you feel?
02:51Yeah, good, good. We feel that we are close to the end.
02:53So that also gives some more motivation, I would say. And yeah, it was a solid week.
02:59And yeah, I feel quite good for the moment. So I hope it will continue during the stage today and
03:05of course tomorrow.
03:06When you look at the race profile, what do you think? It's going to be hard or it is exciting
03:11for you?
03:12Well, both. It will be anyway hard. And yeah, of course, it's exciting. We don't know how it's going to
03:19be a race.
03:20So yeah, it's always interesting and it will be super hard stage. So yeah, I'm looking forward to see how
03:28the legs will be.
03:29Fighting for a top ten? Fighting for a stage win?
03:32Fighting for the best I can do today.
03:34In cycling, what is a Queen stage?
03:39Well, yeah, I mean, I guess one with a lot of climbs, one with epic climbs like we have today.
03:46With big fights?
03:48Of course, yeah. Yeah, I think today, today is, yeah, we'll be a monster stage. We'll be a big fight.
03:56And yeah, every second counts.
03:58Everyone has different goals. What's yours?
04:02I mean, yeah, we're here to fight for the podium and I think it's, it's achievable and yeah, we're all
04:10in.
04:11How much do you think it will impact the race that Piganzoli could be the best young rider and Vingegaard
04:17wants to give him something back?
04:20I mean, yeah, of course, I think they will try to defend Pink and I think that that's their priority,
04:26but they have a super strong team and potentially they can also take the white, but they will.
04:31They will have to ride pretty hard, pretty hard all day today if they want to do that and I
04:37don't know, they can also play into our hands.
04:40How high are you?
04:43I think not so bad, no. We will see today. But yeah, we just keep fighting today.
04:50How did the crash happen?
04:54Look, in the final, I think, you see, I need to change this, no, because we have a lot of
04:58crashes always in feed zone.
05:00It's always a casino, all teams, all riders, all staff, all people always in the same place, no?
05:05And, yeah, it's super dangerous. It's not first time, second, third. It's always happen in the feed zones.
05:12Nothing broken. It means you can race like you did yesterday in Calder Poggio?
05:18Look, yesterday is different. No, I like these days and I like to attack when I have my good legs.
05:24Today I think will be different. It's a super hard day. I think it's just survive, no?
05:28You know, the final is not so bad, but yeah, the day will be super hard. Thank you.
05:34Is it your day?
05:36It will be an interesting day for us, so yeah, let's try it.
05:39Do you know what to do to get this Maria Bianca?
05:44Yeah, I mean, I start with the same feeling of the other day, just helping for Jonas, and then we
05:51will see what will come.
05:53But Jonas says he wants to help you.
05:54Yeah, yeah, for sure. So for this reason will be a nice day.
06:43And I'll see you next time.
