01:00I realized I don't really panic when the situation's occurring, so I wasn't scared for my life, but I was
01:05just like, whoa, like, this bus is really backing up into us, and you could hear the car crunching.
01:14Um, so yeah, that was a really interesting situation, so I hope it doesn't happen again today.
01:22Yeah, it was like, I think it just couldn't see us, so it literally was crunching the car, and it
01:29just kept going, and I was a little bit worried that it literally just, like, you know, when it's like
01:34the car's being hit and it'd like turn the car, but I think eventually it saw us, so.
01:39Next question, please.
01:47Yes, it just struck me two days ago when you were talking about your opponent, your today's opponent, you mentioned
01:55her silver medal at the Olympics instead of her Grand Slam achievements.
02:00So I was wondering, you had a very prominent role at the Tokyo Olympics, of course.
02:07I was wondering, is it somehow a regret of yours of not having performed better than you have at the
02:14Olympic Games?
02:15Um, not really.
02:18I was just thinking in my mind, like, I don't know if she's gotten to the finals here, but technically
02:27the finals of the Olympics is the silver medal.
02:30So, like, in terms of matches that she's played on the surface, I think that would have been, like, the
02:37highest level.
02:39But in terms, like, if you're asking me if I regret anything, not really.
02:43I kind of regret not staying at the village, but I don't want to share a room with somebody.
02:50I'm sorry, I'm so sorry.
02:52So that's, yeah.
02:54But I like walking around and seeing all the other athletes.
02:59And thinking at Los Angeles, 2028, close to your home, so to speak, is it something that you look forward
03:07to playing?
03:09Yeah, I mean, if I'm able to play, I would really love to.
03:13But I kind of have to see if I even qualify for that in the first place.
03:19Question here.
03:21Hi, Naomi.
03:22There's some growing talk that Serena Williams may come back and play at Wimbledon.
03:27I just wanted to get your view on that and what you think, if it's good for tennis in general,
03:33what you think about it?
03:36I mean, I don't really care about tennis.
03:38I think it's good for me.
03:40Like, I'll be very entertained.
03:42But, yeah, I mean, overall, the scope of it, I think it'll bring people to watch tennis, which she always
03:49does bring an audience with her.
03:51So, yeah, I think it's good.
03:55I'm going to be tuned into the first match for sure.
04:00I think a lot of people are.
04:01And I feel like, for me, everyone knows, like, Serena and Venus were my role models growing up.
04:08So, it's going to be cool to see her on the grounds again.
04:13Well done today, Naomi.
04:15Can we talk about your next opponent and what you think of her game and, yeah, her rise, obviously, up
04:21the rankings too?
04:24Honestly, I don't know much about her.
04:26Like, I've seen her play a little bit, like, in passing.
04:30I haven't sat and watched a full match, but I'm really impressed by her.
04:35I think she's gotten here very quickly.
04:39Well, I can say quickly, but obviously it's been years of hard work for her.
04:43But I really like her.
04:46I watched her play Paolini in Australian Open a little bit, and she is really, really good, obviously.
04:53And I'm excited for my match because, actually, I've had a lot of chances to play her.
04:59But she would either lose in that round or I would lose in that round, so we never officially met
05:05up.
05:05So, it's cool that it's happening here.
05:09Hi, Naomi.
05:10Hi, Naomi.
05:10I was wondering if you just had a story behind the white and different Nike jacket outfit today.
05:15And then also on Eva.
05:17She was talking the other day about she was kind of a super aggressive strike-ish player,
05:23and defense only started coming to her after she, like, lost the ego part of it because she would have
05:29the reaction of, like,
05:30like, oh, my gosh, how dare you be aggressive against me when I am supposed to be the aggressive one.
05:34I wonder if that's something that you can relate to or maybe not because you played some very aggressive opponents
05:39quite earlier in your career,
05:41but just kind of talking about the mental factor of defense as well.
05:46Two very different questions.
05:47Sorry.
05:47No, you're good.
05:49For the outfit, the inspo was, like, I don't want to say, like, Victorian,
05:56but, like, you know the ladies that have the dresses with the, like, poof in the background?
06:01That was the inspo, and I'm so terrible of me to not know the correct term of that.
06:08But when you ask about defense or aggression, honestly, I don't really care if I win the point if I'm
06:16defensive or aggressive.
06:20Like, you win the point regardless, you know?
06:23Like, I don't mind either way.
06:25I think for me when it gets tricky is, like, when you play people you have to be aggressive against.
06:29Like, for example, with me, or just in general, I feel like it would be hard to beat someone like
06:36Sabalenka just being defensive.
06:38And I think on the tour, you don't really see people that are purely defensive anymore.
06:44Like, you have to know how to finish the point.
06:46And, yeah.
06:48But if you're asking me straight up, like, I have never had an ego about being aggressive or not.
06:55Honestly, like, when I was younger, I preferred to play defensively.
07:02A lot has been made of the heat at Roland Garros this year.
07:05I know you're a player who likes the heat, right?
07:07And you grew up playing in it.
07:08So I'm curious, like, how do you rate the level of heat, you know, on court right now?
07:13Is it nothing to you or is it, you know, does it feel quite a bit?
07:18Honestly, I use the ice towel, but it's kind of like I had the habit of using the ice towel
07:23the first day.
07:23I don't think it was as hot as the first match I played, but I kind of like it.
07:28I kind of want them to turn it up a little bit.
07:31I don't know.
07:32I like the feeling of working hard and like sweating and, yeah, I just, for me, it's something that I'm
07:41very comfortable with.
08:07Yeah, I mean, I've definitely tried to focus a lot on my physical fitness.
08:12But that's also something that I've grown into since coming back from pregnancy.
08:19Like, I've told everyone that when I came back, I didn't feel like I was in my body.
08:23And I think over the course of however, I guess, three years now, I'm feeling more and more like I'm
08:30me.
08:30But also just trying to improve.
08:33I think tennis is really growing and it's changed a little back from my days, I would say.
08:42But, yeah, just focusing on trying to get as many balls back as I can and not getting injured.
09:03Yeah, I mean, honestly, if I think about it, mentally, I am a lot different than I was, maybe even
09:12last year.
09:13I think for me last year, it would stress me out so much that the matches were tight, that I,
09:21like, couldn't really handle it.
09:23And I didn't really know, like, I would panic a lot.
09:26And then this year, I'm just trying to play it point by point.
09:30And honestly, I'm okay with the concept of losing, just as long as I gave it my best shot and
09:37I made it as tough as I could for the opponent.
09:41And I was thinking that during my match today because there were moments that she broke me and I just
09:47wanted to stay calm and try to give her a run for her money.
10:13I mean, I think on the tactics, like, Clay, you obviously expect the point to be longer.
10:20I think today I did a couple things wrong, maybe, that I could have done better.
10:27But, yeah, I mean, I've been talking with Tomas a lot.
10:30But he gave me, like, a game plan for today, and maybe I didn't listen as well as I could
10:37have.
10:38But, yeah, I feel like Clay, I like the movement on it, especially on my forehand side.
10:46I feel like since my balls are a little bit heavier there, it kind of pushes the opponent back.
10:52And that it doesn't necessarily happen on hard court.
10:55So, yeah, hopefully I'm going to play someone that may or may not drop shot me again because I'm realizing
11:04that's a trend on clay courts.
11:08Thank you.
