00:01My New York Knicks, your New York Knicks, our New York Knicks.
00:07Unprecedented greatness for this franchise.
00:10And the best run in NBA playoff history.
00:13And they're not close to being done.
00:16Shine Time starts right now.
00:18Don't stop. Keep it coming, baby. Don't stop.
00:24Believe it, Knicks fans, for the first time in 27 years,
00:27the New York Knicks are going to the NBA Finals.
00:31The dream season continues.
00:33And in hopes of ending a decades-long championship drought,
00:37are very much alive.
00:39It starts at the top of the organization.
00:40It starts with Mr. Dolan, front office, coaches all the way down to us.
00:43I mean, like I said from top to bottom, it means something.
00:47Come on. 26 years. 26 years.
00:51I mean, there's just such joy.
00:53I've been rooting for the Knicks since I was 7 years old.
00:56And to have a team like this is pretty darn special.
01:01I can't stop smiling.
01:03I can't stop smiling.
01:05I mean, are you kidding me?
01:06That is everything.
01:08You gotta love sports.
01:10Sporty sports.
01:11Sports.
01:12Sports.
01:12Sports.
01:13It's one thing for the Knicks to go to the NBA Finals.
01:17And I don't want to sound like I forget what I say on air.
01:20I picked the Knicks before the season started to go to the NBA Finals.
01:25I picked the Knicks here on Shine Time to go to the NBA Finals before the playoffs started.
01:32But for the Knicks to absolutely go on the ultimate heater and win 11 straight playoff games and sweep away
01:44the Cleveland Cavaliers and make the NBA Finals in this style, this fashion.
01:52To make the NBA Finals for the first time since 1999, I've never seen anything quite like this.
02:00This is the single greatest Knicks team I've seen in my life.
02:04This is the most dominant stretch of basketball in the NBA postseason in the history of this league.
02:13The New York Knicks, once again last night, left nothing to chance.
02:18This was sheer domination.
02:20This game was over in the first quarter.
02:24The series was over in game one when the Knicks came back and they were down by 22 points.
02:30It was the greatest choke and the biggest comeback in the history of the NBA postseason.
02:34When Tyler Kolick is bombing threes late and there are no starters on the floor for New York again for
02:43the third straight clincher to a round, that is all you need to know.
02:49Honestly, that final score of 130-93 doesn't even do it justice.
02:54That video, the optics of Jalen Brunson getting the Larry Bird trophy as the Eastern Conference Finals MVP from Walt
03:04Clyde Frazier and Patrick Ewing.
03:07I mean, my goodness.
03:09Jalen Brunson didn't even have to play in the fourth quarter of these games because this was sheer domination.
03:16Three straight closeout games won by 30 or more points.
03:2251 against the Atlanta Hawks.
03:25Then you look at what happened against Philly.
03:28Wiped the floor with those frauds.
03:30And then won 30-93, 37 point differential last night.
03:36And that's the thing, right?
03:38Making the finals, that was on the table.
03:41That was the goal.
03:42That was the expectation when they fired Tom Thibodeau.
03:45The Knicks in a weird and a wild, relatively weak, wide open, wacky, whatever W word you want to use
03:54to describe the Eastern Conference.
03:57The Knicks making the finals?
03:58Sure.
03:58But I just need you to stare at this.
04:0111 straight wins.
04:03A plus minus of plus 262.
04:08That's the greatest in the history of the NBA.
04:12Not number two, the greatest ever.
04:16This team is playing the best basketball in the playoffs in the history of the association.
04:23I want you to think about this for a second.
04:26If you look at the best point per game differentials entering the finals.
04:31The Knicks have the best.
04:33Based on what they did in the prior rounds in the postseason.
04:36The Knicks right now are plus 19.4.
04:40They're playing, and I've used this expression throughout the playoffs, because this to me was the ultimate compliment, like a
04:48machine that was the Kevin Durant's Golden State Warriors.
04:52If you look at their plus minus, they were second best, previously the best in the history of the NBA,
04:58at plus 16.3.
05:01And they were able to win a championship.
05:04And then, of course, the 2001 Lakers, who you see on the screen right there, they were third for the
05:11plus minus, best point per game entering the finals, at plus 15.5.
05:18So, yeah, of course the Knicks could win a championship.
05:22And I think we're all kind of guilty right now of framing it that way, because we've literally never seen
05:29anything like this.
05:31We've never seen a Knicks team.
05:33And I'm, you know, turning 49 next month.
05:36I've never seen the Knicks play like this.
05:38I love the 90s Knicks.
05:40I was obsessed with what the Knicks were able to do against the Houston Rockets up 32.
05:45And we all know game six and game seven and John Starks, Rolando Blackburn on the bench.
05:49We all know about close but no cigar, how many times.
05:52We all know about what happened with Charles Smith.
05:55We go over everything.
05:56The 90s Knicks, I mean, emotional tug.
05:59I mean, I think about them all the time.
06:02They were gutty.
06:03They were gritty.
06:04They were brilliantly coached.
06:05They never played like this.
06:06They had to grind out wins.
06:08There was always a cap and a ceiling on how great they could be because of limitations on offense.
06:14Or Hakeem.
06:16Or Jordan.
06:17And in 99, I mean, it's easy to say party like 1999 because it's a fun Prince song and it's
06:23accurate.
06:23The 99 Knicks, that was an upstart team.
06:28You got to go back to Allen Houston as the eighth seed against Miami.
06:32I mean, it's crazy when you stop and think about where you were, where I was, 1999.
06:37I had just graduated college.
06:40It's incredible.
06:41And that team had no shot going into the finals against the Spurs.
06:46Which is why Knicks fans are acting like this.
06:50You should celebrate.
06:51You should validate.
06:52I mean, that's our entire Shine Time crew outside right there.
06:56That's our guy Tommy on the flagpole.
06:58Why not?
06:59Climbing up Lampos.
07:01Because you don't act like you've been there because you've never been there.
07:04We've never seen anything quite like this.
07:07And that's the beauty of this ride.
07:09Because when the Knicks put this team together, you're thinking, yeah, absolutely this is the upside.
07:15Go back to the buffoonery.
07:17Go back to the years of frustration.
07:20Go back to all these, you know, Derrick Fisher and Phil Jackson and Jeff Hornacek and Derrick Fisher.
07:28Go back to signing Jerome James and Danilo Gallinari and Frank Nilekina.
07:35And we could go on and on and on.
07:37The Knicks were irrelevant and a waste forever.
07:40And you heard Cleveland sound like MSG or sound like Philly last night.
07:47These are not bandwagon jumpers.
07:49The Knicks fans have been amazing and omnipresent.
07:52And oftentimes in the mid-2000s, you know, during the James Dolan years, you would see the Knicks be dead
07:58on arrival.
07:59Have absolutely no chance because of just a team that was put together so miserably.
08:06And frankly, when you look at what Dolan give him all the credit in the world and Leon Rose and
08:12Mike Brown, what they've done, it's unbelievable.
08:15Last year was a terrific, tremendous ride, right?
08:18It was awesome.
08:18And I was confident going into the Pacers series.
08:22And then obviously game one was game one.
08:25And then Leon Rose picked up the phone and James Dolan said, you know what?
08:28We got to make a change.
08:29And I went nuts.
08:31I did.
08:32I destroyed Leon Rose and Tom Thibodeau, Leon Rose and James Dolan.
08:37I trust them for firing my guy, Tom Thibodeau, because Thibodeau took them to new heights.
08:42You know what?
08:43They nailed it.
08:44And my joy and appreciation for the way this Knicks team is so chemistry filled and fun to watch.
08:52This is, they all like each other.
08:54There's no ego.
08:55Mike Brown, after the game, talking to Lisa Salters, talked about it.
08:58I love when he did this.
08:59I talked about this in the summertime.
09:01You know, made them sign those player contracts in terms of the non-negotiables, in terms of being team-oriented
09:08and focused.
09:09I just, I can't stop thinking about how obsessed I am with this team.
09:14You know, I've never seen a championship.
09:16I've never seen my Knicks win a championship.
09:19And this is why, if you were alive for the Clyde Frazier championships and, you know, you're of a certain
09:25age, those teams are revered and they're cherished.
09:29I also think, and I'm thrilled, obviously, I got to see the Knicks in the 90s.
09:33There are people watching right now, there are people I work with, who have no appreciation because of when they
09:40were born for the 90s Knicks.
09:43So they were born at a certain time where they've seen nothing but chaos, which is why the Knicks fan
09:50today is going nuts.
09:52And I'm just absolutely obsessed.
09:55If you're a Knicks fan, I know so many people who are watching are, this is it.
10:00This is the vision.
10:01This is what you wanted.
10:02And the way this team plays, watching this team kick ass and take names, it's almost, you have to jog
10:10the mental Rolodex just to make sure you have your facts correct.
10:13That the Knicks were down 2-1 to the Atlanta Hawks.
10:16I mean, we were thinking about doing a Mike Brown, will he be fired topic.
10:21I mean, because that was what was at stake and they haven't lost the game since.
10:27And not only that, they are just absolutely destroying the opposition.
10:32I don't want to hear anyone say, well, who have they played?
10:36Look, first of all, it's not the Knicks fault that Boston couldn't live up its end of the bargain.
10:42It's not the Knicks fault Detroit's couldn't live up to its end of the bargain.
10:47Now, I don't want to hear any of that.
10:49Plus, when you watch the Knicks play, this is not like the Patriots from this past year where you say,
10:56oh, they haven't played anyone.
10:58But they were just squeaking by teams.
11:01And you knew when they got to a championship situation, they were going to get destroyed.
11:05The Knicks are playing the best postseason basketball in the history of the NBA.
11:13That is the difference between the Knicks and other teams that you might think are taking advantage of weaker competition
11:21or a flash in the pan.
11:22This is how the Knicks should have been playing all year.
11:25That's the beauty.
11:27They are peaking in terms of play, rebounding, defense, chemistry at the right time.
11:33Which is why fans like me, fans who have never seen a championship, we are foaming at the mouth.
11:40Because you can see it, you can feel it, you can taste it.
11:43It's also something new.
11:45We've never seen a Knicks team this amazing and this dominant before.
11:50And I can't get enough.
11:52And I think it's important here to kind of go into the specifics.
11:55The players and how we got here and what we saw and what we're also going to see and why
12:00I firmly believe the Knicks are going to win a championship.
12:05And I want you to think about this.
12:07I want you to listen to Mike Brown talking about Jalen Brunson.
12:11Have you encountered a leader that carries himself?
12:17Tim Duncan and Steph Curry.
12:21And those, you know, again, they're not the same player.
12:27But man, you just, the aura that those guys have, the quiet strength that they have is unbelievable.
12:40Unbelievable.
12:42Mike Brown absolutely nailed it.
12:44And I want you to think about this, right?
12:48We've compared Jalen Brunson to Derek Jeter.
12:51Mike Brown just compared Jalen Brunson to Steph Curry and Tim Duncan.
12:58And he obviously was an assistant coach with the Spurs when they had Duncan.
13:03And obviously was an assistant coach with the Warriors with Steph Curry.
13:07So he's talking from experience.
13:10And he nailed it.
13:12And Brunson has the qualities of those guys in terms of not only domination, but how they walk the walk
13:19and talk the talk and lead by example and how unselfish they are.
13:23And obviously Duncan making sure that Ginobili and Parker got theirs.
13:28And Steph, you know, hey, bring on Kevin Durant if that's going to mean we're going to win championships.
13:33And if Klay Thompson needs to make a shot.
13:35And that leads me back to Jalen Brunson.
13:38Jalen Brunson has changed the entire franchise.
13:42And I say on behalf of every single Knicks fan, thank you, Jalen Brunson.
13:47And look, when Jalen Brunson was signed, I loved it.
13:51I also wondered aloud if that was enough.
13:55If it could just be Jalen Brunson.
13:58The Knicks paid him a ton of money.
14:02It's crazy to think right now how underpaid Jalen Brunson is.
14:07What he does as a leader.
14:11Winner.
14:12Player.
14:13Scorer.
14:14Distributor.
14:15He was in his bag the entire season, the entire postseason.
14:19And you knew that last night was his time to shine.
14:22I mean, watching Brunson do his thing.
14:24And I want you to consider this.
14:26And Mike Brink gave the stat on the broadcast last night on ESPN.
14:29From 2007 to the season before Brunson joined the Knicks, the Knicks won seven playoff games.
14:37Since they signed Jalen Brunson, they've won 33.
14:40That is the Jalen Brunson effect.
14:43And this is why I will keep saying it.
14:46I wouldn't trade Jalen Brunson for anyone.
14:49You could tell me there are better players.
14:51You could tell me that in the next series you'll favor SGA or favor Wemby.
14:55That's fine.
14:57I mean, that video with him and Clyde and Patrick Ewing and he gets the Larry Bird trophy.
15:03That's a passing of the torch.
15:05And listen, when Jalen Brunson carries the Knicks to a championship over the next few weeks, that is going to
15:12take his name, his game, his reputation, which is already sterling and off the charts and Jeter-esque and Duncan
15:20-esque and Steph Curry-esque to a totally different kind of stratosphere and legend.
15:27Because when you think of the genius of Brunson, it's not only just the points per game and the leadership.
15:34It's okay.
15:35Carl Anthony Towns needs to be a point center.
15:38Well, he's going to go and do that.
15:39And think about Carl Anthony Towns and think about what Leon Rose did here.
15:44And I think it's important to kind of weave the story, right?
15:48And why this team is so amazing and why this team is so dominant.
15:52You're Leon Rose.
15:54You take over.
15:54The Knicks are a complete and utter train wreck.
15:57Here's Jalen Brunson.
15:58You make the trade for his buddy for Josh Hart.
16:01You make the trade.
16:02And I was a big R.J.
16:03Barrett fan.
16:04You make the trade.
16:05You send quickly and you send, obviously, R.J.
16:09Barrett to Toronto.
16:09You get O.J.
16:10Ananobi.
16:11O.J.
16:12Ananobi's a terrific player.
16:13And O.J.
16:14Ananobi has been on fire.
16:15And he was again last night.
16:16He's an awesome defender.
16:18Should have been first team all NBA defense without question.
16:21And then you see the Carl Anthony Towns trade, which was absolutely amazing.
16:27And to go get Towns.
16:29And there's been all these deals, right?
16:32I want you to think about this.
16:33They were not universally celebrated.
16:36You might have had an issue.
16:38I happen to love all of them.
16:40The one where I, you know, I went nuts when they fired Thibodeau.
16:42I love Brunson.
16:44Love the signing.
16:45I did wonder aloud if he could be the alpha dog if they needed more, right?
16:50I mean, it's crazy to go back and think about it, but Brunson has outkicked expectations.
16:54What Cat is doing, and it's been a, you know, mixed bag, regular season, even some playoff games from last
17:01year.
17:02You wonder aloud about the effort and the energy.
17:04Cat for DiVincenzo and Randall.
17:07You couldn't win a championship with Randall.
17:09I always appreciate Julius Randall for what he brought to the table to help bring the credibility back.
17:14But that was an unbelievable move.
17:16And Cat has been amazing.
17:18And turning him into that point center.
17:20And he averaged eight assists per game in the Phillies series.
17:23Game four against Atlanta changed everything.
17:26Landry Shamit.
17:27I mean, this was the last guy to make the roster.
17:29Thank you, Malcolm Brogdon, for retiring.
17:32I mean, it's crazy when you think about that.
17:34That was an unbelievable move.
17:36And it's a Mike Brown favorite in terms of his defense and he'll go through screens and his energy and
17:42his winning ways.
17:43And it's unbelievable when you look at it.
17:45And the Mikel Bridges, this is my favorite one of them all.
17:50And I love the trade.
17:51And I defended the trade forever.
17:53Because draft picks in the NBA, they're not like they are in the NFL.
17:59But if you look at the game, you're going to judge this thing on winning.
18:03And Mikel Bridges, let's be clear, his lows were in the toilet.
18:06And I go back to what I said, game two, game three of the Atlanta series.
18:10He was atrocious.
18:12And he was glued to the bench in the manner of the most.
18:14Credit Mike Brown.
18:15Mike Brown stayed with him.
18:17Mikel Bridges, during this 11-game winning streak, is shooting 70%.
18:21When he shoots, instead of gasping, I cheer because I know it's a smart shot and the ball is going
18:26in the bucket.
18:26He's unbelievable right now.
18:28And this is why making the OG trade, the Bridges trade, it was always the right move.
18:34It just needed to come together.
18:35And now it is brilliantly at the right time.
18:38The way Cat is playing.
18:39Mitchell Robinson, an OG from this basketball team.
18:43The way he plays on defense, rebounding the basketball, coming off the bench.
18:47Like what Mike Brown did in the first quarter of that game yesterday with, obviously, with Cat and Mitchell Robinson.
18:53Together, the bigs going against Mobley and Allen at the same time.
18:57Deuce McBride, what a find.
19:00The Josh Hart trade is one of the all-time heists in the history of the NBA getting Kim out
19:09of nowhere.
19:09Remember Jalen Brunson was at Villanova, that viral video, sees on his phone that they just traded for Josh Hart,
19:15they're the best of friends.
19:16It's just amazing.
19:18And look, you know, Bridges, as a guy who won at Villanova, made the finals a few years ago with
19:25the Phoenix Suns.
19:26They were up to nothing.
19:27They lost to Milwaukee.
19:28He's played every game since.
19:31Never missed a regular season game.
19:33Phoenix, Brooklyn, New York, whatever it is.
19:36And now no one cares.
19:38It's like the Lesney with the Rams.
19:39F them picks when it comes to the Mikel Bridges trade.
19:42And this was always the plan and the vision.
19:45And the fact that they're playing their best when it matters the most.
19:49Look, it's the greatest thing I've ever seen.
19:51And Leon Rose deserves so much credit.
19:53James Dolan deserves credit.
19:55Because letting Leon Rose cook and do what he's doing, it's unreal.
20:00And what I'm obsessed with, right, just as impressive as a Knicks play on the court during this stretch.
20:07How about the comments they've made to the media off the court as well?
20:12Here's Carl Anthony Towns.
20:14It's a magical thing.
20:16It's a historical thing.
20:17It's something that New York has been dying for for a long, long time.
20:20And we'll enjoy that plane ride.
20:22But once we get in those cars and go to our respective homes, it's going to be back to business.
20:27And there's no better day to start than tomorrow with the next year.
20:31And that's it.
20:33And that is it in a nutshell.
20:34And yes, obviously, finally, the Knicks are in the finals once again.
20:43Nobody on that team is satisfied.
20:46Ben Stiller had that unbelievable video.
20:49He was at the game with Timothee Chalamet and Tracy Morgan and all the celebs in, you know, MSG middle
20:59of the country in Cleveland.
21:00That was unbelievable yesterday.
21:02I couldn't get enough.
21:04Ben Stiller has that video of cats as the time is ticking at the end of the game.
21:09And before the buzzer sounds, he puts his arm around Jalen Brunson and says four more.
21:14And that's the mindset.
21:16And we've stayed very consistent on this.
21:18Fans can go nuts.
21:20We've never seen anything quite like this.
21:22The believability is not just on the domination on the court.
21:26It is based upon what we're seeing with regards to how this team is playing.
21:32And they keep that singular focus on the next game, the next challenge.
21:37I mean, Jalen Brunson didn't smile.
21:41And I know how that sounds.
21:43And he had great words.
21:44And he was very appreciative and stressed, you know, thank you to Mr. Dolan and Leon Rose and his teammates
21:49and coaches.
21:50He didn't crack a smile.
21:52Carl Anthony Towne's soundbite were not done.
21:55They have handled success and prosperity incredibly well.
22:00We might talk about, after Thibodeau had to at least make the NBA Finals, that's no longer the goal or
22:07the standard.
22:08You know, I keep getting asked, who would you rather play, OKC or San Antonio?
22:13Look, I just want that series going seven games.
22:17And those teams are beat up.
22:19Let that series go long.
22:21And look, this is all good stuff in terms of, yeah, the Knicks beat San Antonio during the regular season.
22:27You remember the OKC game, especially the home game.
22:30Yeah, they were very close at home, had a golden opportunity to beat the Thunder.
22:36And I also think, guys, can you do me a favor?
22:39Take that full screen down.
22:41Because the New York Knicks in the regular season, it doesn't even matter anymore.
22:47That's the point.
22:48If you want to use that in terms of numbers to say, of course, the Knicks could win, great.
22:55The regular season has turned out to be the preseason for this basketball team.
23:01The way they're playing now, and I can appreciate if you want to tell me that you like the Thunder
23:07to win or the Spurs to win.
23:08Vegas will probably favor whoever wins the Western Conference.
23:12They all have home court based upon the regular season wins.
23:15I get it.
23:17The Knicks are at a spot right now.
23:19The way they're playing, the way they're focused, that bite from Karl-Anthony Towns.
23:25Those teams have to beat New York.
23:26The Knicks will be able to win a championship.
23:30The Knicks will be able to go to either OKC or San Antonio and win at least one.
23:36And have that series, the NBA Finals, tied up at a game apiece, going to Madison Square Garden for game
23:46number three.
23:47That's what we're talking about here.
23:49That's what we're looking at.
23:51So, because of those comments from Katz and all stems from Brunson, he really does an excellent job in terms
23:58of keeping that focus and making winning a championship.
24:02But the next game, the next quarter, the next possession, Brunson, you know, imploring his team not to give up.
24:08Remember that viral video we showed you on Shine Time, you know, in the fourth quarter before that, they were
24:14able to overcome that 22-point deficit.
24:16That's why the confidence level for this team and for the fans who root for it is through the roof.
24:23Look, it's OK to start thinking about it.
24:28It's OK to start dreaming.
24:30It's a weird thing because even when, you know, the Knicks were facing the Houston Rockets, there was still a
24:36large one on the other side.
24:37There was still a cap on how great the Knicks could be.
24:39They could have won a championship, but you still have to kind of hope and wish and pray.
24:44You know, you're watching SGA.
24:46You're watching the Thunder.
24:47You're watching the current version right now.
24:49You're watching some of the injuries.
24:51You're saying, Knicks can win a championship.
24:53Knicks can absolutely win a championship.
24:55So, because of the play, because of the domination, because of the mentality,
24:59I absolutely believe the Knicks winning a championship is in the cards.
25:03We'll wait and see how many games, who it is, how it ultimately unfolds.
25:07We have plenty of time here on Shine Time.
25:10Finals do not start until a week from Wednesday.
25:14We said OKC Knicks before the season started.
25:17OKC Knicks before the playoffs started.
25:19I'm telling you right here, right now, the Knicks are winning a championship.
25:22This is going to be the greatest parade we've ever seen, the greatest celebration we've ever seen.
25:26The Knicks are hotter than the sun.
25:28This is one of the most unbelievable, majestic runs in the playoffs in the history of sports.
25:36There is no curbing the enthusiasm or slowing down the Knicks freight train.
25:40Now, of course, there was another side of the equation,
25:43and Kenny Atkinson and James Harden didn't do themselves any favors in their post-game press conferences this week.
26:12How much better, if they're better, are the Knicks than you guys?
26:16I can't even answer that question, honestly.
26:19You know what I mean?
26:19Like, yeah, it was 4-0, but I don't think we had a chance as far as our best shot,
26:26you know, from a standpoint of the circumstances.
26:32You know, obviously they just, they dominated us 4-0, but, yeah, I don't know if I can necessarily answer
26:42that question.
26:42Just because genuinely I do feel like we are the better team.
26:47Wait.
26:49What?
26:50Beg it, Kenny Atkinson.
26:53Beg it, James Harden.
26:55Beg it, losers.
26:58Tears of a clown.
27:00Losers laments.
27:01Are you kidding me?
27:03First of all, James Harden having the nerve, the chutzpah, the audacity to say we're better than the Knicks?
27:12Knicks didn't just win with the greatest point differential ever.
27:15They swept you.
27:17They ran you out of your arena, which was overrun by Knicks fans because the Cavs fans had nothing to
27:23cheer for.
27:24A team with that payroll, highest in the history of the NBA, trying to get over the hump and win
27:29a championship,
27:30adding one of the biggest losers in the history of professional sports,
27:37the biggest underachiever requisite to regular season success in North American sports history in James Harden.
27:46Adding that guy to this mix was the worst calculation in the history of professional sports.
27:52And we first guessed that.
27:53James Harden is a losing ball player.
27:56On defense, he has no interest in participating.
28:00He has the mobility of a lamppost.
28:03He plays his worst when it matters the most.
28:06Ask a Rockets fan.
28:08Ask a Sixers fan.
28:10Ask a fan of the L.A. Clippers.
28:12James Harden is not built for this.
28:17And this is who you bring in?
28:19And how about Kenny Atkinson?
28:21Are you kidding me?
28:22And I'm a big Kenny Atkinson fan.
28:24Now, Kenny Atkinson, I think he's on the hot seat based upon what he did or did not do this
28:30series.
28:30Doesn't call a timeout in game one.
28:33I mean, when the Knicks win a championship, they should raise a Kenny Atkinson game one jersey to the rafters
28:40at MSG.
28:41I mean, they should put him on a float down 7th Avenue.
28:44I mean, this is amateur hour.
28:47And he says, analytically, we were up 2-1?
28:52What?
28:53What?
28:53Are you kidding me?
28:55This is one of the dumbest quotes I've ever heard.
28:58Did you believe it?
29:00Was it the old Costanza, it's not a lie, if you believe it?
29:03Are you really that dumb?
29:05Are you trying to motivate your team?
29:07Did you actually watch the games?
29:09Maybe not.
29:10You didn't call a timeout in game number one.
29:12I've never seen anything like that.
29:14That is a joke.
29:16A joke.
29:17I mean, if you're a fan of basketball, honesty, sanity, professionalism, if you want winners,
29:26I mean, those are two of the lowest level, worst quotes, losers lament, tears of a clown, I've ever heard
29:33in my life.
29:34James Harden and Kenny Atkinson deserve each other.
29:38What a complete and utter disgrace.
29:40Charles Barkley was unbelievable on Inside the NBA.
29:43That's the best studio show in the history of sports television.
29:45But listening to Chuck, and they put up the full screen, which is unbelievable, with the definition of quits, and
29:54they wrote out the spelling of Cavaliers and how to pronounce it.
29:58I mean, the Knicks were amazing, and they busted the wheel of the Cleveland Cavaliers.
30:03Like, you could tell, right?
30:05I mean, look at this.
30:06Look at this.
30:06But James Harden thinks they were the better team.
30:10After game one, all the Knicks had to do was show a fight, and that was a 3-2-1
30:15Cancun situation.
30:16I mean, Kenny Smith didn't even show his pictures at halftime.
30:20He put on a top pack, got a cane.
30:22Shaq had one, too.
30:24And they started singing, New York, New York.
30:26I mean, that's it.
30:28The Knicks were majestic, and they made the Cleveland Cavaliers' fault.
30:34They stole their soul.
30:36And I don't think that the Cavs are going to get it back anytime soon.
30:40That's how grotesque that was, if you're a fan of the Cleveland Cavaliers or sports in general.
30:46Now, the buzzer had barely sounded on the Cavs season, and Donovan Mitchell is already fielding questions about a certain
30:52former Cavs player returning next year.
30:55That is not for me.
30:57I don't, I'm not trying to get a headline.
31:00That's not for me.
31:02I'm not going to answer that.
31:03That's not for me.
31:03That's a Kobe Altman question.
31:05That's a Mike Gansey question.
31:07Because I know no matter what I say, no matter how I say it and how I try to navigate
31:12it, it's going to be a thing.
31:15So, I'm sorry, Joe.
31:16I'm not going to give you anything.
31:18You have to ask Kobe and them.
31:20All I know is what we got in the locker room, and I go to ride with those guys every
31:24single day of the week.
31:25That's all I got.
31:27Donovan Mitchell handled that like a pro, and he is just that, as opposed to James Harden.
31:32So, I like the way we ask this question.
31:37Would LeBron take his talents back to Cleveland?
31:40Because if it was framed like it was to Donovan Mitchell, should the Cavs pursue LeBron James?
31:48Yes.
31:49Of course.
31:51Obviously.
31:52Player option for Harden.
31:54You hope he doesn't opt in because he is an albatross and a negative, and you can't win with James
32:01Harden.
32:01That has been documented throughout his checkered history in the postseason.
32:04Thinking he's the solution, that's a disgrace.
32:08Of course.
32:09You get rid of Harden.
32:10You bring in LeBron James.
32:12We can talk about anything else you want to do.
32:14But here's the better way to phrase it.
32:17Our question.
32:18Would LeBron take his talents back to Cleveland again?
32:22I'm struggling to believe that he would.
32:24I love nostalgia.
32:27I love a good, feel good story.
32:30I love closing a book.
32:32Cleveland, this is for you.
32:33He's a good kid from Akron.
32:35Bring Bronny back.
32:36The whole thing.
32:38I just don't see it.
32:39Why?
32:40Why would LeBron, how would LeBron rationalize that he would have a better chance to win
32:45in Cleveland than he would with the LA Lakers?
32:49And I'm of the opinion the Lakers were one of four teams I could have seen winning a championship.
32:53Remember, we said that in March on Shine Time.
32:55That you could see OKC, San Antonio, the Lakers are the next winning a title.
33:00That those are the only four teams you could see winning a chip in the NBA.
33:04I can appreciate full circle bringing them home.
33:07But why would James want this?
33:08Why would he want to give Dan Gilbert the satisfaction?
33:12Isn't he closer?
33:13Unless the Lakers shut the door on LeBron.
33:18I don't see how this plays.
33:20If I'm James, I would stay in Los Angeles for another year.
33:24He has a great rapport with JJ Redick.
33:27Obviously Bronny's there.
33:29You know, his family's now in LA.
33:31He's been a Laker for a long time.
33:33Business ventures are out in Los Angeles.
33:36It makes too much sense.
33:38I would never in a million years if I'm James say, I need to go back to Cleveland.
33:44It would make no sense.
33:46But look, Cavs got to do something here.
33:48Because I thought that was a complete and utter embarrassment in addition to giving the Knicks all the credit on
33:55the world.
33:55But a complete and utter embarrassment to bottom when you look at what happened with the Cavs during this series.
34:03To the Western Conference Finals.
34:05Where Wemby continues to do amazing things on the court.
34:09The cell.
34:10I think he's going to go.
34:12I think he's going to go.
34:13From midcourt.
34:14Got it!
34:17You saw him calling and wanting the ball here.
34:21Knew exactly how much time was left.
34:24Nothing but the bottom.
34:27This cat is a freak.
34:29He's an alien.
34:30He's something special.
34:31We've never seen anything like our guy Victor Wimbanyama.
34:34By the way, this weekend.
34:36And I'm not sitting here, you know, tooting my own horn.
34:40But it went exactly like we said it was going to on Friday's Sizzling Edition on Shine Time.
34:46In terms of how you're going to see OKC win Game 3.
34:50Check.
34:51Spurs win Game 4.
34:52Check.
34:53And it's going to be 2-2 heading into Game 5.
34:55Now, I still like the Thunder.
34:59I still think OKC is going to win this series.
35:03And I'll predict the next three games.
35:06I think.
35:07And I haven't changed my tune in terms of my original prediction of OKC in 7, which is what I
35:12predicted before the series started.
35:14Now, I don't feel strong enough to say mark the tape, go bet it, make sure this is, you know,
35:21the must win, you know, lock of the century.
35:24You know, obviously, if you're OKC, you've got to find a way to get Wemby off the courts.
35:29And sadly, for our enjoyment as sports fans, that means, you know, heart and sign is going to have to
35:35be physical.
35:36And they're going to have to get him in foul trouble and do some, you know, flopping and all that
35:41nonsense, which nobody can stand when you start watching Oklahoma City play.
35:46Look, the Spurs are confident.
35:48Wemby's a freak.
35:49You know, Castle, terrific.
35:51Harper came back.
35:52Fox is one of my favorite players in the league.
35:54He's back.
35:55That's a big deal.
35:56And Mitch Johnson's team's got it going on.
35:59Here's the thing, though, when you look at it from an OKC perspective.
36:04OKC is not healthy.
36:06J-Dub has been hurt and been out.
36:08And obviously, Mitchell's been out as well.
36:11And, you know, J-Dub is the second best player, Jalen Williams, second best player on OKC.
36:16And SGA this series has been average, not playing at his MVP kind of level.
36:23Now, I'm still going to give the Thunder the edge playing at home.
36:27Great home courts.
36:28Fans are amazing.
36:30I think they play great defense.
36:31And I always expect SGA to find a way to play great and maximize his teammates.
36:38I always believe that is going to be the case.
36:41But this is going to be a wild finish to this series.
36:44And from a Knicks fan perspective, just keep going long.
36:47That's what I want to see.
36:48By the way, the optics with what we saw with Mitch Johnson and Greg Popovich and Pop being
36:55at the game and Mitch Johnson talking to Wemby and then NBC.
37:01I mean, how's this as production truck genius?
37:04They go from that shot to this.
37:06I mean, if you don't have the chills watching that and understand what Spurs history and
37:12basketball history is all about, check your pulse.
37:15I mean, this is beautiful right here.
37:18Absolutely, positively beautiful.
37:21Also, opposite of beautiful, the SGA flops have had about enough.
37:26Honestly.
37:26And I've always defended SGA, have always defended SGA.
37:31But the flopping is out of control.
37:33You know, the free throw merchant and he's not even close to getting fouled, out of control.
37:38I mean, this right here, I mean, they sneeze on him.
37:42He falls down.
37:44He gets presented with an Oscar for his acting.
37:47And I always try and defend SGA.
37:51I'm out.
37:52I can't do it anymore.
37:54It's becoming too much.
37:56Unwatchable.
37:57I understand this is the Oscar.
37:59I mean, I guess.
38:00Congratulations.
38:01I mean, it's embarrassing.
38:04It's a really tough watch and otherwise terrific series.
38:08Here's hoping that we see some legit OKC basketball tonight.
38:13As a Knicks fan, just give me a war, baby.
38:16I'm rooting for war.
38:17Give me a seven game battle because my Knicks are winning a championship.
38:22But wait, there's more.
38:24Don't say anything.
38:26I see it.
38:27Don't say anything.
38:27I know.
38:29And then you don't come in sucking your fingers.
38:32You got chicken wings.
38:34You're supposed to be asking questions.
38:35You went and got chicken wings.
38:37No.
38:38No, you don't get none.
38:41Can I please?
38:43Oh, man.
38:44Yeah.
38:46Them wings are hitting though.
38:48They're hitting.
38:49Yeah.
38:49Yeah.
38:51So there's a couple of things here that really need to be discussed.
38:55OK.
38:56Number one.
38:57And you see the Nova three on the podium.
39:01Right.
39:01And it's Bridges and it's Brunson and it's hard and part of the chemistry and the winning
39:06ways of this next basketball team.
39:09And Brunson tells hard because he sees it.
39:12Right.
39:12He had a reporter eating wings during the press conference and you can see it.
39:17Don't say it.
39:17I see it.
39:18Don't say it.
39:18I see it.
39:19Don't take the bait.
39:20And Bridges starts laughing.
39:21He turns away.
39:22Jalen hides his eyes.
39:24And Josh Hart season.
39:25He can't resist.
39:26Right.
39:27Make in front of a reporter who's eating chicken wings.
39:30That's number one.
39:31Number two.
39:32Who's eating chicken wings during a news conference.
39:36Now I love my chicken wings.
39:38They're on my Mount Rushmore food.
39:40I can't get enough of my wings.
39:42I see a plate of wings.
39:43I get excited.
39:45It makes you think of sports.
39:47I love great chicken wings.
39:49In fact the candlelight in that's where Brunson and Hart and it's phenomenal.
39:56Been there a thousand times.
39:57They went after they beat Boston in the second round last year.
40:00They stayed open all night long for him.
40:04Jalen Brunson understands the beauty of Larchmont Tavern and their wings.
40:08My personal favorite wings.
40:10Look with the kids I get a mild.
40:12Honestly I prefer them hot.
40:14Dip them in the blue cheese.
40:15Let's go.
40:16I want more wings.
40:17Wings, wings, wings, wings baby.
40:20I can't get enough.
40:21Who eats wings at a press conference?
40:24Who does that?
40:25Now I don't know the reporter.
40:27But you deserve to get called out.
40:29Be a professional.
40:30I mean do you see me eating a pastrami on rye during shine time?
40:36Come on.
40:37What are we doing here?
40:38Eat the wings before.
40:40Better idea.
40:41Eat the wings after.
40:42Don't you have to take notes?
40:44Don't you have to write in your notepad?
40:45Don't you have to sit there and ask questions?
40:47You're chopping on a wing?
40:49Blue cheese is dripping from your earlobe?
40:51And you're trying to interview the Knicks?
40:54Get out of here.
40:55Be a professional.
40:58Also, where'd you get the wings?
41:00That's a show right there.
41:02If you missed any of it, make sure you go to our YouTube page.
41:05New York Sports Post YouTube page.
41:08Or go to the California Post Sports YouTube page.
41:11You can just do what I do and watch Shine Time over and over and over and over again.
41:18We'll see you tomorrow on Shine Time.
41:20We'll see you tomorrow.
41:22We'll see you tomorrow.
41:28Bye.
41:28Bye.
