00:00So excited to have you here, so excited to talk to you about The Real Housewives of Atlanta.
00:03I'm curious, how were you approached with this opportunity and what made you decide to say yes?
00:08I would say years ago, I would tell people, working in the reality space,
00:14that once I got to a certain point in my life and a certain age that I was going to
00:19be a housewife.
00:20And what's so funny, everyone around me knew this and I got to that certain point and I'm a housewife.
00:28That's so, you manifested it for yourself.
00:30Yes, I did. Yes, I did.
00:32Well, you know, like you said, you're no stranger to reality TV.
00:34You famously starred in Love and Hip Hop.
00:37How did this experience on Real Housewives compare or contrast to that experience?
00:42Oh, it's alike in a lot of ways, but it's definitely different.
00:46It is an ensemble cast, you know, that's what's alike.
00:49But when it just comes down to these different personalities,
00:55different personalities and, you know, you just have to.
00:59I've been off of reality TV for years and years and I don't think people understood,
01:05like, how laid back and chill I am.
01:08And for me to, you know, walk into these scenes and it's like, oh, God, I forgot.
01:14I forgot what this was like, you know.
01:17So, it is, it's a learning experience.
01:20I think this is more of a mental, of a mental game.
01:24Before we get into all the drama and all the things going down this season,
01:28I want to start with the medical emergency you had in the show.
01:31I went from the red carpet and billboard and the record label,
01:37being on stage to now an open wound.
01:41First of all, how are you doing?
01:42And second, what has it been like to share that with the audience?
01:45You know, for me, ever since I started to have the issues with the silicone and everything,
01:51I've never hit it.
01:53I think a lot of celebrities act like their lives are perfect
01:56and they want to, you know, pop out looking, oh, I look like this, you know.
02:01No, it's a lot of things that go on to upkeep and things like that.
02:05And you can make mistakes when it comes to feeling like you need to look a certain type of way.
02:10So, for me, I didn't hide it.
02:12I never played about it.
02:13I told my fans for years as it was going on.
02:17And, you know, I was very, like, shocked at how on point this production team was
02:25with being able to capture what was going on.
02:28And I was open to it.
02:30And I said, well, it's my life and I'm here to show my life, the good, the bad, the ugly.
02:35And it's a part of what I'm battling.
02:37I do want to get into some of the drama going on this season.
02:41So, you know, Portia brought you onto the show and she was a close ally of yours until this week's
02:45episode, I feel like.
02:46She may think one of us are plotting, but I'm saying whoever is telling her that that's happening.
02:50That's very dangerous.
02:51She's over there talking to them in that group.
02:52Right.
02:53I told y'all in detail everything and what was going on.
02:56You're going to say something on your side.
02:57Because I know evil folks just stay evil.
03:00Yes, they do.
03:01Did you ever expect that your friendship would take the turn it did?
03:04Well, you know, God brought me into the show.
03:07And, you know, that's what it is.
03:09And I think my success and everything really brought me into the show.
03:13And I think we tend to, however the setup looks, I'm on the show for me.
03:20Yes.
03:20And I, when it comes to that, you know, we, you know, know each other.
03:27We've known each other.
03:28And I've always been supportive of Portia.
03:31I will remain supportive of her.
03:33But I also have my own thoughts.
03:36I have my own voice.
03:37And I'm my own person when it comes to coming into things like this, not even in elementary
03:43school that I follow the line leader.
03:45So when it comes to this, I definitely won't fall into line and do as you think maybe I
03:52should.
03:53I'm going to do what I know is right and right for me.
03:56Well, I saw that you and Portia were tweeting kind of back and forth at each other as the
04:00episode aired the other night.
04:01Portia implied that maybe, you know, she would have wanted to see you take your concerns directly
04:05to her, to which you accused her of sleeping with your ex.
04:09Where did you hear that rumor from?
04:10How long?
04:11I think we need more elaborating on this rumor.
04:13Well, when it comes to that, I was, I don't do like Twitter back and forth.
04:19For me, my career, Twitter has been an avenue for me for over 10 years.
04:24Welcome to the people who just got here.
04:27And I've sold a lot of albums with Twitter.
04:30I will not get off Twitter.
04:31I will not be silenced.
04:32I have random thoughts on Twitter, like, oh my God, this mango is juicy, to other thoughts
04:38of books I've read, to everything.
04:40I will always speak to my fans and speak my opinion.
04:43It's like an open diary, basically, for me.
04:47When I was tweeting, it wasn't directed, you know, at her.
04:53I feel like she wanted it to be because she was ready to go.
04:56And, you know, she said something, she told what she thought, but I told her truth.
05:03So, you can think what I should have done, but I can tell what you've done.
05:08Yeah.
05:08Oh, yeah.
05:09And I mean, regarding everything that happened in Dallas, I think the number one things fans
05:12were wondering were, you know, why didn't you confront her in that moment about the
05:17comment she made?
05:18I didn't confront in that moment because, in the first place, if there's something that
05:23you are spreading and doing about me, what do I look like saying it for you?
05:28What do I look like, I'm going to try to figure out your purpose, I'm going to let you show
05:33your hand.
05:34And for me, sitting there in that moment, it was really like, I couldn't believe that,
05:40you know, this type of behavior would take place.
05:42So, I have a lot to lose.
05:45So, I'm looking around like, okay, how am I going to, you know, work through this and
05:51handle this and all of that?
05:53I'm going to speak on my time when I want to, when I'm able to take it in without crashing
05:59out.
05:59Yeah.
06:00I'm going to speak when I should.
06:03It's never going to be when you think I should or how I should, but it will get done.
06:07I've acted emotionally on TV before, it does make for great TV, but those are things that
06:15my son has to see and that the women that are looking up, you know, to me have to watch.
06:20So, I watch the things I say and I think about it.
06:23And in that moment, I didn't owe anybody anything.
06:27I just wanted them to know.
06:29I know exactly what's going on.
06:30I'm always going to know.
06:32You were talking about, you know, the producing going on behind the scenes.
06:35Were there other instances outside of the Drew situation, the Portia situation that
06:41you maybe saw people working behind the scenes and anything you can share?
06:45Absolutely.
06:45Nothing that I can share, you know, because this is all a part of TV.
06:50And I feel like if you're always talking, you can never listen.
06:54And I was able to just sit there quietly and pay attention and listen to each lady and each
07:03situation and how they did each other.
07:05And I was able to really take in the group I was dealing with.
07:10Well, drama aside, who would you say you're the closest with right now outside of filming?
07:15I am the closest with Kelly outside of filming.
07:19She's great.
07:19What do you think of everybody's been coming at her about her white T-shirt confessional
07:23look?
07:23Please tell the people what you're wearing.
07:27Of course the T-shirt is high fashion.
07:30It's Tom Ford.
07:31I wouldn't have it any other way.
07:33What did you think of that?
07:34I talked to her about that little date.
07:37When it comes to that, Kelly, when I tell you we could go anywhere through the day, Kelly's
07:43going to have on a heel and some leggings.
07:46She's going to be in her fashion and she does what she wants when it comes to clothing.
07:51So I'm not here to dress her.
07:53She felt good in it.
07:55And that's what she wanted to wear.
07:58And she's a pretty girl.
07:59And I support if she want to wear a T-shirt, if she want to wear a gown, if she
08:04want to
08:04wear a cowboy hat, you just go for it.
08:06We have so many Bravo liberties that kind of dabble in music a little bit.
08:09Is there anybody you would want to collab with someday?
08:12No, I'm not a dabbler.
08:14I'm super successful.
08:15I don't want to dabble with any of them.
08:18No, there's nobody I want to dabble with.
