00:00Good morning. I'm T.J. McGovern, Interim Fire Chief for the Orange County Fire Authority,
00:04and this morning I'm here with our incident commander, Chief Craig Covey.
00:07We're going to give you a brief updating about our mission that we had last night.
00:12We are happy to report that the threat of a blevy is now off the table.
00:17That threat has been eliminated, and I'll give it to Chief Covey for more information.
00:22Thank you, Chief. He's 100% right. We have eliminated the threat of a blevy.
00:27Our members went into that exclusion zone again to validate what we were seeing and get those temperatures.
00:34The crack is there. We have verified that it's there, and the tank has released its pressure.
00:40Additionally to that, the temperature has been stabilized and actually reducing.
00:46It is currently 93 degrees, down from 100 degrees.
00:50That is incredibly positive news as we turn the corner on this incident and reduce those first two options and
00:58mitigate this incident.
01:00I want to emphasize, I know there's been a lot of, why aren't we getting these temperatures more often?
01:06The risk management to our firefighter's safety was first and foremost thanks to you guys evacuating the communities.
01:13But our firefighters were still the risk process here, and we wanted to ensure that we were doing calculated risk
01:20to that management.
01:21We were not doing tank temperature checks during the day while the sun was on it in the most extreme
01:29conditions for that tank to go the wrong direction.
01:32We were only doing tank temperatures at night. That's why there was delays in getting you guys that information because
01:38we didn't want to put our members in harm's way and let that thing settle during the day, work on
01:44the other objectives that we needed to accomplish, and then go operational at night.
01:48So, we are really pleased and excited to tell you that the blevy is off the table.
01:53We want to be clear that the evacuation zones are still in play. Please abide by those evacuation zones.
02:01Once again, we appreciate your support and the patience while we work through this incident together.
