A terrifying wildlife encounter unfolded in Botswana when a massive hippo suddenly chased a boat carrying tourists through a shallow waterway.
The group had spotted a lone male hippo and initially slowed the boat to avoid disturbing it. But moments later, the animal changed direction and began charging through the water after them.
Tourist Oznur Bell, who filmed the dramatic scene, said the captain had warned everyone to speed up after observing the hippo’s behavior. Once the boat accelerated, the passengers realized they were being pursued.
The enormous animal continued racing through the water, forcing the boat to move quickly away. For those on board, what began as a wildlife-viewing experience turned into a frightening escape.
Bell described the encounter as one of the most terrifying moments she had experienced, adding that everyone on the boat was genuinely worried during the chase.
The hippo eventually abandoned the pursuit, leaving the tourists shaken but safe after the dramatic encounter.
