00:11 Recognize this song?
00:13 If you were around in 1985, you'd likely be familiar with Bersama di Hari Raya.
00:18 And even if you weren't, thanks to its catchy tune and evocative lyrics,
00:23 the song is still being performed today.

00:37 Did you know that Bersama di Hari Raya was performed by two Indian sisters?
00:42 Meet Helen and Aireen Savari of the band Cendrawase.
00:47 Popular in the '80s, they produced three albums,
00:50 the first of which, released in 1984, featured their hit song, "Daritamu Daritaku."

01:01 Bersama di Hari Raya was released the following year.
01:05 Today, Aireen is the president and CEO of the International College of Music,
01:10 while Helen is a producer in Switzerland, where she lives with her husband and children.
01:16 The Savari sisters grew up in TTDI in Kuala Lumpur,
01:20 where they learned to sing at an early age from their music-loving mother.
01:24 My mom would buy cassettes of all the trending pop songs of that time,
01:33 and then we'll just play it and we'll learn by ear.
01:36 And of course we had guitar lessons and at some point piano lessons.
01:43 And we were doing that and on the side we were just teaching ourselves how to sing.
01:49 Both sisters are glad that Bersama di Hari Raya continues to spread joy in this day and age.
01:56 My mom used to take screenshots and send to me of some of the comments,
02:01 and they said, like, you know, and I was very, very, felt very warm,
02:05 and felt very happy to see all this outpouring of love and, you know,
02:10 people thinking back, you know, Kenangan Manis, you know, of the 1980s, how they loved it.
02:19 So can we expect a reunion performance from Chindra Wassey in the near future?
02:25 Nothing as yet.
02:29 Of course I would be very happy if there was an opportunity for Helen and I to even just,
02:34 you know, probably just work on a single.
02:37 Doesn't require that much promotion.
02:40 Maybe as a dedication to all the fans.
02:42 Here's hoping they do.
02:45 Vivia Ragu and Terence Toh, FMT Lifestyle.

02:55 Bye!
