Emmerdale Cain & Caleb Miligan Hold John Sugden at Gunpoint/Caleb Knocks Cain Out 23rd September 2025

As Caleb loads John into the truck, Jai unexpectedly returns and overhears voices. Caleb quickly covers, claiming he was on the phone to Ruby. Once Jai leaves, John reminds Caleb that he holds all the cards and warns him not to try anything. Caleb drives the truck to some secluded woodland. Opening the doors, he forces John out and aims a shotgun at him. John tries to talk him down, but Caleb assures him he won’t pull the trigger - before signalling Cain, who steps out from the trees behind him. Cain takes the gun from Caleb and forces John deeper into the woods. In the woods, John pleads that Nate’s death was an accident and that guilt has haunted him ever since. Cain explodes with fury, raging at John for playing the hero while being “a nobody.” He goads John, who snaps back by saying Nate died hating Cain. Anxious, Caleb follows the sounds and finds Cain striking John to the ground, then dragging him to his feet. Cain forces John into a freshly dug hole. John warns he has scheduled an email to be sent to the police, exposing Anthony’s death and implicating Ruby. If he dies, he insists, nothing will stop it being delivered. Caleb panics, fearing John may be telling the truth. Cain insists he’s bluffing but ultimately lowers the gun, declaring he won’t kill John. He insists John must face prison but John counters that prison or death aren’t options: the only way to stop the email is to help him disappear completely. As Cain and Caleb argue, John seizes his chance, grabbing a rock to strike Cain. Cain catches him, snarling that it will be his last mistake In a desperate bid to stop Cain, Caleb strikes him over the head with a spade, the blow causing a shot to fire. Cain collapses to the ground. Caleb, panicked, orders John to tend to him, reminding him this is his supposed skill. Back in the woods, John persuades Caleb to lower the gun, offering to help Cain if they resume their original plan of aiding his escape. John and Caleb bundle Cain into the boot and take his phone as he stirs. John convinces Caleb to ditch the gun, promising he’ll reveal Anthony’s burial site once they reach Rotterdam. On the road, Caleb tells John he’ll drop him at the first service station in Rotterdam and then never wants to see him again. John hands over a note with Anthony’s burial details and deletes the scheduled email draft in front of him, insisting this proves he can be trusted. He pleads again that Nate’s death was an accident and asks Caleb to pass that message on to Cain.
