00:01:07The bereaved pregnant woman made the appeal in a 21 minutes video made available to us fortnight ago after we

00:01:14had earlier reported that the family of Stephen Obamneme Nwosu has accused the armed forces of Nigeria,

00:01:22AFN led by General Olufemi Oliade, the Nigeria Chief of Defense Staff have attempted acts to cover up a soldier

00:01:29who allegedly murdered the young man, Stephen Obamneme Nwosu on February 14, 2026.

00:01:36Valentine's Day, along Benin Agbo Road around Amufi Junction in Edo State, this, according to the family member who pleaded

00:01:44for her names not to be mentioned in the press,

00:01:48said her brother was shot dead by the soldier after the deceased refused to hand over his car key to

00:01:53the soldier as demanded, saying, her brother only went out with his friend,

00:01:57she identified as Godwin Coco to get chicken feed when they encountered the soldier at the failed portion of the

00:02:04road that is currently under construction,

00:02:06saying, the Nigerian army has refused to disclose the names of the soldier who allegedly committed the act of murder

00:02:13or take appropriate lawful actions against the suspected murderer,

00:02:17and in a swift reaction, when our reporter contacted the public relations officer of 4 Brigade of the Nigerian army,

00:02:26Captain Kennedy and Yan Muvaya phone call on Thursday evening,

00:02:30the military authority said it is not true that the soldier in question has not been identified,

00:02:35saying, the matter has been settled,

00:02:37and when our reporter demanded to know how the alleged murder case was settled with the family,

00:02:43the military authority refused to give details,

00:02:46also, when our reporter contacted the Edo State Command of the Nigeria Police Force Public Relations Officer,

00:02:53ASP Noakodum,

00:02:55the police authority said the matter is under investigation and there is no way such matter can be swept under

00:03:01the carpet.

00:03:03According to the bereaved pregnant woman,

00:03:05eyewitnesses said after her husband was shot and was in the pool of his blood,

00:03:09the killer soldier wanted to abandon him but the people around prevailed on him,

00:03:14and that was when the soldier decided to take the victim to the hospital and the bereaved family was later

00:03:19told by an officer that her husband was pronounced dead at the hospital,

00:03:23but she and the family believed the officer is lying because,

00:03:26according to her,

00:03:28when the bereaved family visited the hospital the officer claimed their son was taken to,

00:03:33the doctor at the hospital denied receiving such person as a patient.

00:03:37The woman noted that on Tuesday, February 17, 2026,

00:03:42officials from the 4th Brigade of the Nigerian Army,

00:03:45the Edo State Command of the Nigeria Police Force and the Construction Company visited the bereaved family house

00:03:51and sympathized with the family and assured the family that due process would be followed to make sure the soldier,

00:03:58who allegedly committed the crime is prosecuted,

00:04:01but ever since,

00:04:02the bereaved family had had several meetings with the Edo State Police Command and the military authorities,

00:04:08and yet,

00:04:09no reasonable thing has been said to assure the family that the suspect is actually being prosecuted

00:04:14and the compensation they claim to pay is being processed.

00:04:18Continuing,

00:04:19the young widow said till date she does not know the name of the soldier who killed her husband

00:04:24or the military command he worked with,

00:04:26for her to always remember the man who killed her husband,

00:04:29begging the military authority to at least allow her access to such information.

00:04:34The young widow said she wrote through her lawyer to the Edo State Commissioner of Police

00:04:39to take the matter to court,

00:04:40but ever since,

00:04:42still,

00:04:42the case has not been taken to court and she's no longer trusting the way and manner the police is

00:04:47handling the issue,

00:04:49hence,

00:04:49her coming out publicly to beg and appeal for anyone to help her get justice.

00:04:54All I am seeking for,

00:04:56is justice for my husband,

00:04:58the soldier identified,

00:05:00tried and prosecuted,

00:05:02so that it will be on record that my husband was murdered.
