00:00You know, two coaches, two former players, Rob Brendamore and Marty St. Louis.
00:04I mean, I don't know, man.
00:06I love Marty.
00:07You know, I followed him because I used to follow the Tampa Bay Lightning a lot, did a lot of
00:11work with them.
00:12I mean, have you been surprised on how great St. Louis has turned out to be a coach there for
00:17the Canadians?
00:18Probably not so shocked on what Brendamore has done with the Hurricanes.
00:22Yeah, it's interesting.
00:24I mean, two guys that had just incredible careers, Hall of Fame careers, really.
00:31I know Brendamore's not in yet, but maybe one day.
00:34But two guys that are passionate, love the game.
00:37And Marty St. Louis, such an interesting story because the Canadians, if you really look at it, took a risk
00:42with them.
00:42He was coaching mites.
00:45Think about that.
00:46He was coaching eight, nine-year-olds prior to coaching the Montreal Canadiens.
00:51That very rarely, if ever happens, you usually got to take the steps in junior and the farm team and
00:59the HL or whatever it may be before you become a National Hockey League head coach.
01:02But they saw enough in him and his hockey acumen and what he was capable of that he was able
01:09to make that jump.
01:10And he just relates to the players.
01:12Today's game, you've got to be able to communicate.
01:15He's able to give his knowledge in the right way, in the right terminology to these young guys.
01:24And he's also a very emotional guy.
01:25So, I love it.
01:27These two guys are as good as it gets as far as coaches in the National Hockey League.
01:31But St. Louis and Brendamore's been doing it quite some time now in Carolina, trying to get that team over
01:36the hump.
01:37He's won a cup in Carolina as a player.
01:39I played against both these guys a long time against Brendamore and near the end of my career against St.
01:45Louis.
01:45And just great players.
01:47But St. Louis really is an interesting one because so often teams won't take that chance just because of experience.
01:56And behind a National Hockey League bench.
02:00And they took that chance with St. Louis and Marty St. Louis.
02:05And it's paying dividends.
02:06And the players, you can tell, they have taken on the demeanor of their head coach.
02:12And Montreal may be a surprise to be here for some people along the way, certainly in the hockey world.
02:18But they believe in themselves.
02:20And they've got a heck of a lot of skill and speed.
02:23And we're a handful for Carolina in Game 1.
