The Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Oleksandr Syrskyi, disclosed that Russia's military has suffered losses exceeding 141,500 personnel since the start of 2026, with over 83,000 reported dead. Independent analyses by Mediazona and Meduza, released on May 9, suggest that around 352,000 Russian soldiers have perished since the large-scale invasion commenced in February 2022. Syrskyi notes that Russia's overall losses are approximately three and a half times greater than those of Ukraine. These alarming figures arise even as Russia persists in its recruitment efforts, with volunteers now representing the largest segment of casualties, following a significant drop in prison recruitment.

00:00Russia's military is bleeding out. Since January 2026 alone, just five months,
00:06Russia has lost over 141,500 military personnel. More than 83,000 of them are dead.
00:13That number comes directly from Ukrainian Commander-in-Chief Sersky,
00:17an independent Russian media outlet MediaZone says. The total killed since the invasion began
00:23in 2022 has now reached 352,000 men. That is the population of a mid-sized American city,
00:31wiped out. Russia keeps replacing them with volunteers because prison recruitment has
00:36dried up. But the ratio tells the story. For every Ukrainian soldier lost, Russia is losing
00:42three and a half. Russia is winning nothing. It is sacrificing an entire generation.
00:49And the losses are accelerating, not slowing down.
