It just took one person to see she wasn’t ready to give up. Dodo producer Tarang spoke with Claudia about why she never left Brigadoon’s side — even when the odds were against her — and how she found her way back to life!

00:00This horse was given a 0% chance of survival.
00:03The vet looked at me and he said, my suggestion is euthanasia.
00:06As a producer at the Dodo, I'm always struck by the people who refuse to give up on animals,
00:10even when there's no hope.
00:12I looked at the vet and I said, this is not a horse that's ready to say goodbye.
00:15We're going to give her a chance.
00:17A 0% chance of survival is usually where the story ends, but not in this case.
00:21Brigadoon was an Amish workhorse.
00:23She just wasn't useful anymore.
00:25And I just saw a diamond in the rough.
00:27That's when Claudia, owner of Delmar Farm Sanctuary, stepped in to rescue her.
00:31But before Brigadoon even arrived at the sanctuary, she got injured during her transport.
00:35She cut her back legs open.
00:38My vet looked her over a few times.
00:40We were cleaning her up, taking care of her cuts.
00:42Look at this sweet girl.
00:44And once we took her out of quarantine, she was walking on her toe.
00:49Five weeks in, my vet x-rays her leg and he said the infection went into her bone.
00:54It's very, very hard to heal from there.
00:57And I said, if you save her, you will have performed a miracle.
01:01Brigadoon was in the hospital for several days and Claudia made it a point to visit her every single day.
01:06It broke my heart because she just was so depressed.
01:12I wanted her to see my face every day because I wanted her to know we're not dumping you.
01:18After three days, she started to show a little bit of improvement.
01:22She was beginning to put a little bit of weight on that leg.
01:24So I began to feel a little optimistic.
01:27After seven days, Brigadoon was finally ready to return home to the sanctuary.
01:31Where Claudia and her team of volunteers continued to treat her.
01:34Hi, sweetie.
01:35After several weeks, she was a totally different horse.
01:38Who's this girl?
01:40She's so sweet.
01:42She's absolutely gorgeous.
01:44She is like glistening.
01:46The first time I saw her run, her tail up high, I basically was crying.
01:51And all of these vets, I would send them videos of her.
01:55They couldn't believe it.
01:56They were like, how is this the same horse?
01:59Brigadoon's story is nothing short of a miracle.
02:01And it's thanks to Claudia and the amazing vet team that supported her journey.
02:05Because of them, Brigadoon now gets to live her life with freedom at Del Mar Farm Sanctuary for the rest
02:10of her life.
02:11More than anything, she feels safe.
02:13And this was her new forever home.
