01:29Et...
01:30Yeah, sorry.
01:32So...
01:32Do you want to waste time on this question ?
01:34Or do you want to...
01:35Yeah.
01:36I am.
01:38Next question.
01:44Aïga, from your perspective,
01:45what's the kind of main objective of this initiative ?
01:48Is it an issue about respect ?
01:49Is it prize money ?
01:50What's the kind of number one thing for you ?
01:52Well, first of all, you know,
01:55I feel like all of us, we don't have nothing...
01:58We have nothing against media, obviously,
02:00and we totally respect you guys,
02:01and we know how our relationship is, you know, important.
02:06But with the tournament, you know,
02:08I feel like we will do more when the tournament will do more for us.
02:14And not only us, the top players,
02:17because obviously we are the ones that have the most contact with you guys,
02:23but, you know, for also the lower-rank players
02:26and the whole structure, you know.
02:30So, it's personally like nothing against you guys,
02:35but, for sure, this is the decision that we made,
02:39and we will follow it.
02:45A question starts a few months old,
02:47because I didn't get a chance to ask you in Miami.
02:50I was curious for your thoughts about the comments made
02:52by the tournament director in Dubai,
02:55when you pulled out of that tournament,
02:56who said both you and Sabalenka should get...
02:59You both pulled out close to the start of the tournament,
03:01should get very harsh penalties, like losing 500 ranking points
03:04or something like that.
03:05Just what were your thoughts on that, on those comments?
03:08Wait, I mean, I got a penalty?
03:10No, no, the tournament director was suggesting
03:12there should be very harsh penalties and fines
03:14and ranking point losses for...
03:16Oh.
03:16Maybe you didn't hear this, but...
03:18I didn't.
03:19I heard about the complaints, but I didn't hear about the penalty,
03:22probably because it's a bit ridiculous.
03:27Well, we have a right to withdraw anytime we want,
03:31so I don't see the problem, honestly.
03:34Like, if we are not fit or we don't feel like this is the right time
03:39for us to play a tournament, like, are we slaves?
03:44It looks like we are allowed to decide,
03:47so I don't see the problem.
03:50We get zero in the ranking.
03:52That's a punishment.
03:55Do you mind?
03:59Hager.
04:00I know you asked in Rome about boycotts,
04:03but I'm curious in general,
04:04do you think players would be willing to take a stand
04:06that potentially hurts them in order to make their point?
04:10Like, for example, I guess an option here could have been
04:12to not do media at all and get fined.
04:15Like, do you think players would be able to take...
04:16willing to take that step forward?
04:18Well, that's an interesting question.
04:20I guess, you know, for me, it's hard to know
04:23what's going to happen in next weeks.
04:25I think we will kind of follow, yeah, what we decide on,
04:31but, you know, this also is...
04:36There are many factors, like, coming in,
04:38and it also depends how the tournaments will react,
04:41so I can't really say that we will do this or that now,
04:46because we also need to see what the reaction will be,
04:49and I don't think, you know, doing something that is not constructive
04:54will make sense, but we want to push a bit more to get what we need,
05:05and to get the tournaments being more open for the conversations, you know,
05:12that we need to have.
05:14Courtney.
05:15Hey, again.
05:16Setting aside the title defense question of last year versus this year
05:20and stuff like that, just how differently can you...
05:23if you think about how you felt maybe on this day last year,
05:26as the tournament's about to start compared to now,
05:29do you feel markedly different in terms of confidence, game style,
05:33all these sorts of things, or is the mindset the same?
05:36Well, last year, my tournament in Rome was like a really cold, cold shower, you know,
05:41and I wake up cold, you know, I, you know, I felt terrible on the court in Rome,
05:47so for sure this year, after a couple of good matches, there is more positive vibe,
05:53and just, it's good to just have, you know, some really solid matches on your shoulders,
05:58and start the tournament with that, it's a bit different, but, you know,
06:04every year I say that every tournament is a different story,
06:07no matter if I won Rome, no matter if I lost second round, you know,
06:11we still have time to kind of refresh, reset, and start the tournament
06:15from a totally different perspective, so, yeah, I think I will take good experience
06:24from this year's Rome, and, like, positive feedback also after the matches,
06:29and, you know, I also had the chance to play under pressure,
06:32I also had the chance to play short matches, so I get the vibe of the matches,
06:37I mean, like, the match rhythm, which is great, comparing to last year,
06:41but still, like, this is a totally different tournament with different conditions,
06:45right now, especially with the heat, so you need to, like, be humble,
06:50and start knowing that you will need to fight for every match.
06:56Hi, Iga. As someone who really values working on the mental work,
07:01and the mental side of sport, can you try and explain the difference
07:05of the work you're doing mentally in a period when you were super dominant
07:10on the surface, because dominance also comes with pressure, because everyone expects you to win every match,
07:15and then now perhaps you're not as dominant, you're still really good on the surface,
07:18but it's not a bit different, and what work do you do mentally in kind of these different types of
07:24phases?
07:25Honestly, I wouldn't split this, like, this situation to, like, yeah, when I was dominating,
07:33when I wasn't dominating, because even when I was dominating, I felt sometimes, you know, good,
07:38sometimes really anxious, sometimes I didn't care, and I just went for it, you know?
07:43For example, 2023, yeah, I played the final in Madrid, I withdrew in Rome, but I had a good tournament,
07:50and here I won, but honestly, I never felt that anxious, you know, than in 2023.
07:58So every year is different. Last year I felt like I needed to really work more in a tennis way
08:09than mental on these tournaments, but I felt a lot of pressure, a lot.
08:14Everybody was just looking at my clay court results and judging, you know?
08:19But, for example, in 2024, I don't know, every day I just enjoyed.
08:25I really didn't feel any kind of pressure from the outside.
08:29Maybe I was, like, really focused just on myself, and it just...
08:33I was really in the zone, in my own bubble, and went for it.
08:37So, honestly, every year is different, no matter if you're dominating or not,
08:40there are different obstacles to face.
08:44So, it's more that you need to adjust to that, and not really the results or tennis itself.
08:52Thank you, guys.
