Ubisoft has reported a staggering €1.3 billion operating loss, largely caused by cancelled projects, delays, and major restructuring efforts.

The publisher says it’s now focusing heavily on its biggest franchises like Assassin's Creed, Far Cry, and Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon while continuing aggressive cost-cutting measures.

With more restructuring likely ahead, many fans and developers are questioning whether Ubisoft can truly recover from years of management issues and bloated development cycles.

00:00Ubisoft reports loss of 1.3 billion euros on costly game cancellations and delays.
00:05If you have been following Ubisoft and all the asinine shit that they were doing recently,
00:10this comes as no surprise, to be honest. And this could be summarized in one sentence,
00:15you reap what you sow. I'm particularly talking about Assassin's Creed Shadows because
00:20it was a masterstroke to put a black man in a Japanese setting and then call it a day.
00:26Here is a wild idea. Let's make an Assassin's Creed game about Zulus in Africa but make a white guy
00:33main character. That's gonna sell like fucking hotcakes man. What's also funny to me is how
00:39optimistic they are that is their CEO. The guy says that this two-year transformation comes with
00:44a difficult decisions and a disappointing short-term financial performance but I firmly believe that
00:49together these actions are better positioning Ubisoft to deliver sustainable free cash flow over time.
00:55I mean sure, if you can pull your head out of your ass and make a proper game then
00:59okay, it's doable but I don't see that happening anytime soon.
