00:00Ah, yes, Wednesday edition of Shine Time.
00:03We're going to call it a comeback and a collapse
00:06and the most amazing and stunning finish to a Knicks playoff game you will ever see.
00:13Brunson, Harden, Kenny Atkinson, we're all over it.
00:18Shine Time starts right now.
00:52Oh, baby, sports, sporty sports, sports, sports, sports.
00:56That was the most bonkers, amazing, miracle Knicks victory I've ever seen in my entire lifetime.
01:06That was a turnaround, a collapse by Cleveland, a choke by Cleveland,
01:13a comeback by the Knicks that we have never seen before in the history of Knicks basketball.
01:21I saw it. I still don't believe it's real life.
01:24You know it's a big deal when that game gets the front page
01:27and the back page treatment from the New York Post.
01:32Are you kidding me?
01:33Absolutely sensational.
01:35Knicker bonkers.
01:37Yes, a miracle overtime win,
01:40trailing by 22 points with eight minutes to play.
01:47And then, of course, the back page.
01:49I mean, my goodness, that was the ultimate Brunson burner.
01:55Just incredible.
01:56I talked to the legend Mike Breen on my Sirius XM radio show this morning,
02:01and he also, and he's calling the game courtside for ESPN last night.
02:06He thought it was over.
02:07There's no way.
02:09Ebb and flow.
02:10Time.
02:11Score.
02:11There was no way the Knicks could come back and win,
02:15which is why this was the greatest Knick victory I've ever seen.
02:21This was the most improbable Knick victory I've ever seen.
02:25It was one of those sporting events,
02:27where were you when moments.
02:30And listen, my poor son,
02:31he's an 11-year-old diehard Knicks fan.
02:34And I told him, and I put him to bed.
02:36I told him the game was over.
02:38My wife was laughing, said, you deal with him in the morning.
02:41I mean, my goodness.
02:43And the way the Knicks came back,
02:45and this 18-1 run right here,
02:47the way Jalen Brunson just went on that ultimate heater,
02:51that flame of the Brunson burner was at an all-time high.
02:54And this is why, I will say it forever,
02:59I wouldn't trade Jalen Brunson for anyone.
03:03You could tell me I've told you there are better players in the NBA.
03:06Sure, right?
03:07Any kind of ranking you want to list.
03:10I want Jalen Brunson on my team for this moment, always.
03:18This is unbelievable stuff from Jalen Brunson.
03:21And when he was able to hit that twisting, turning layup at 101-101,
03:29that was next-level kind of stuff.
03:31I still can't believe this shot went in.
03:34Talking to Mike Breen, he said you could hear the gasp of the crowd
03:39when Landry Schammett missed that shot,
03:41because it was a miss.
03:43It was bouncing out the trajectory.
03:45There was no way it was going in.
03:48Instead, and that's a Mike Brown favor to give Mike Brown credit,
03:51he loves Landry Schammett.
03:53Instead, that was the ultimate shot, the ultimate fortune.
03:58The Knicks, the long-suffering Knicks fan,
04:01listen, we've earned that.
04:03We've absolutely earned it.
04:05And then, after tying that game, being down by 22 points,
04:09the way the Knicks played in overtime,
04:11that jumped on Cleveland to start the overtime frame, 9-0,
04:16that was unbelievable stuff.
04:18You look at that incredible run by New York,
04:2244-11 after you had Cleveland up by 22.
04:28Brunson was unbelievable.
04:29Look at this.
04:30Look at these stats.
04:32Look at these facts.
04:33Look at these figures.
04:34Look at Jalen Brunson down the stretch.
04:36The Knicks, in the final seven minutes of regulation,
04:40and overtime, shot 71% from the field.
04:46That's incredible.
04:47Brunson was everything.
04:50Schammett hitting that shot,
04:51and then Schammett obviously doing a terrific job in overtime
04:55was sensational.
04:56And the fact that the Knicks won this game
04:59in the fashion they wanted,
05:01after an ugly first half,
05:04with the way that they played
05:05when they were getting crunched and destroyed
05:08in the third quarter,
05:09it looked like it was going to be a nightmarish loss.
05:12I tweeted in moments,
05:15I don't want to hear from the old takes exposed crowd
05:17or the that age poorly crowd.
05:19It was a mess.
05:20It was a disaster.
05:22Because it was.
05:23There were no signs of life.
05:25The third quarter,
05:26the beginning of the fourth quarter,
05:28it was pure hot garbage from the Knicks,
05:31which is what makes this comeback out of nowhere just incredible.
05:37And the way Jalen Brunson was imploring his teammates
05:40and that shot of him on the sideline,
05:42you see it right here,
05:43this is Jalen Brunson in a nutshell.
05:45You could take any other player in the NBA.
05:48This is the guy I want.
05:50I want Coach Brunson.
05:53This is before the 18-1 run.
05:55This is everything you need to know about Jalen Brunson,
05:58who had 16 of his 38 points in that fourth quarter,
06:02sparked that 18-1 run.
06:03The way he had shot after shot after shot.
06:07O.G. Ananobi,
06:09during the 14-11 run,
06:11was fantastic.
06:1210 points.
06:13Landry Schammett had nine.
06:15How about Mikael Bridges?
06:17I thought he was incredible.
06:19Just a terrific game.
06:20Had those two late threes in regulation.
06:22One, he turned around at the buzzer,
06:25able to put it in.
06:26I thought Bridges had a terrific, consistent game.
06:29This was amazing.
06:31I mean, I couldn't get enough.
06:33And Knicks fans going nuts.
06:34Honestly, I was obsessed.
06:36And listen, it's sweet,
06:38because there are generations of Knicks fans,
06:42you know, you might get haters who say,
06:44act like you've been here before.
06:46We haven't.
06:47Knicks fans literally have not been here before.
06:51We have never seen it.
06:53You have to be of a certain age
06:55to have seen a championship in the early 70s.
06:58I mean, I've only seen the Knicks go to the finals twice.
07:02I mean, I can't wait.
07:04I can't wait for the next game.
07:07This was something as amazing as it gets,
07:10as improbable as it gets.
07:11You look at the stats.
07:13You look at the facts.
07:14You look at the figures.
07:15I mean, you take a look at some of these nuggets
07:17of historical domination.
07:19Teams that were up 20 or more,
07:2220 or more points,
07:24with seven minutes to go in the fourth quarter.
07:28643-0 until last night.
07:33643-0.
07:34The Knicks, 0-277.
07:380-277 from 1996 on,
07:44trailing by 22 or more in the fourth quarter.
07:48I mean, this was wild.
07:50The scene, Jalen Brunson,
07:53Shamit, the bounce of the ball.
07:55I mean, look, I talked to Mike Breen, as I mentioned,
07:58and on that Merrill Schatz,
08:00he certainly gave us the B and the bang, Mike Breen did,
08:04because that ball was in,
08:06and then it bounced out.
08:07Sometimes in the course of a championship
08:09or a run to the finals,
08:11you have to get some breaks,
08:13and then bam, capitalize on it.
08:16That was the most out-of-nowhere,
08:19satisfying, improbable victory of my Knicks fandom.
08:24I couldn't get enough.
08:26Incredible, sensational, remarkable,
08:29and honestly, that's one that's going to last a lifetime.
08:33Of course, there's a different side to the story,
08:37and Kenny Atkinson had some interesting words
08:40to describe his team's performance.
08:43I think we got a little unlucky, quite honestly.
08:46You know, Brunson obviously took over at the end,
08:50and, you know, we started double-teaming them
08:52and try to do some different things,
08:54but, listen, I'm super proud of the way our group played.
08:59We played great basketball tonight for, you know,
09:03three quarters.
09:05You know, unfortunately, fourth quarter,
09:08you know, they dominated us in the fourth quarter.
09:14I thought Kenny Atkinson, in-game and post-game,
09:17absolutely embarrassed himself.
09:19He called his team unlucky.
09:20He's proud of his team.
09:22Kenny, I will acknowledge that the Meryl shots
09:27looked like it was going in,
09:29but how about everything else?
09:31This was, to me,
09:33the single most poorly coached big game
09:36in the history of the NBA,
09:38maybe in the history of professional sports.
09:40When you're up 22 points,
09:42you have to win the game.
09:44And for Kenny Atkinson not to use his timeouts
09:48as the Knicks are on an 18-1 run,
09:52that is a fireable offense.
09:54Seriously.
09:55And I love Kenny Atkinson.
09:56That was the theater of the absurd.
09:59And I can appreciate coaches.
10:01Phil Jackson with the Bulls and the Lakers
10:02used to do this all the time.
10:04I can appreciate coaches who say,
10:06I'm going to let my guys play.
10:08My guys will figure it out.
10:10Well, what was the big story in this series going in?
10:14Rest versus rust for the Knicks.
10:17Momentum and fatigue for Cleveland.
10:19Obviously, the Knicks hadn't played before last night
10:22in nine days.
10:23And Cleveland was coming off of a seven-game series
10:27on the heels of a seven-game series.
10:30They've played 14 games,
10:31the max you could play in the first two rounds.
10:34That matters.
10:36Timeout.
10:37Clear fatigue.
10:38Timeout, timeout, timeout.
10:40I want to call two.
10:42Think about some of the great coaches we see
10:44in college basketball, in the NBA.
10:47Dan Hurley quickly comes to mind.
10:49Dan Hurley would never mess around.
10:51Quick timeout instantly.
10:53Make sure your team,
10:54which has been dealing with fatigue,
10:56to the extent where Mike Breen
10:58and Richard Jefferson and Tim Legler
10:59talked about it, rightly so,
11:02that Kenny Atkinson, and he did it,
11:04was going to play some different players
11:05to start the game because of fatigue.
11:08How do you not see your team is winded?
11:12How do you not see that?
11:14That, simply put, if you're a Cavs fan,
11:18an NBA fan, can't happen.
11:20And then the Knicks pounced, right?
11:22Just unbelievable.
11:23Proud of the team?
11:25I honestly thought when he said after the game
11:28that he wanted to hold his timeouts,
11:30I thought that was AI.
11:32Seriously.
11:33I genuinely thought that was an AI bite.
11:36I had to text Griff and Rich,
11:39our producer and executive producer.
11:41I said, let's just make sure
11:42that that's a real Kenny Atkinson quote.
11:44I was watching Inside the NBA,
11:46and Jalen Brunson's getting interviewed.
11:48So I saw that live before I saw Atkinson.
11:51I was like, there's no way.
11:52I mean, Cleveland rots.
11:55Are you kidding me?
11:5799% chance to win.
12:00That was atrocious.
12:02Absolutely atrocious.
12:03Not to mention the fact,
12:05and let's be honest here,
12:06that James Harden is a complete
12:10and utter traffic cone of a defender.
12:13And this is all part of the deal here
12:16when you look at it from the standpoint
12:19of how Atkinson completely failed.
12:22And if you don't believe me,
12:24here's Mike Brown.
12:26Let out of secret.
12:27When I was with Golden State,
12:29we played Houston in the playoffs.
12:31We counted James Harden's dribbles.
12:35And, you know, we told our guys,
12:37hey, he's dribbling close to 1,000 times.
12:39He's not doing that anymore
12:40because they got Donovan Mitchell.
12:42But at the time, we were like,
12:43he's dribbling almost 1,000 times a game.
12:46And, you know, our high guys, KD,
12:49at like 300 or right below 300.
12:52Keep picking them up full court.
12:54Keep making them dribble
12:54because at the end of the series,
12:56at the end of games,
12:57it's going to wear them down.
12:59They were trying to do the same thing
13:00with Jalen.
13:01And so we said, okay,
13:03you know, we feel like we can play that game.
13:05We try not to play that game much,
13:07but we feel like we have a guy
13:08that we can play that game with
13:10and Jalen.
13:11And so, you know,
13:14just like we have to try to figure out
13:15different ways to guard Harden and Mitchell,
13:19they got to figure out different ways
13:20to guard Jalen.
13:21But we were, there is no secret
13:23we were attacking Harden.
13:27He said the quiet part out loud.
13:29It was no secret we were attacking Harden.
13:34Yeah.
13:35And I love that Mike Brown said it.
13:37And I love that he went into depth.
13:40And I love that he went back to
13:42when he was an assistant
13:43with the Golden State Warriors
13:45because this is nothing new.
13:47Even when James Harden was carving out
13:50his Hall of Fame MVP kind of career
13:53based upon how majestic he was
13:55in the regular season,
13:58even during the salad days for James Harden,
14:01he was still terrible on defense,
14:03a terrible playoff performer.
14:05Now we're talking about another playoff game
14:08where James Harden was a disaster.
14:1125% of his playoff games, 25,
14:16we have seen as many or more turnovers
14:21than field goals made.
14:24That is an unfathomable statistic.
14:26And James Harden was a liability.
14:29When he picked up his fifth foul,
14:32honestly, I out loud said,
14:34man, I hope he doesn't foul out.
14:36The Knicks need him in this game.
14:40If the Knicks go on and win a championship,
14:43the Knicks should have James Harden
14:45and Kenny Atkinson on a float for the parade.
14:48If the Knicks go and win a championship,
14:51they should raise a jersey to the rafters.
14:55Retire.
14:55Atkinson.
14:56Harden.
14:57Game one.
14:58Just raise it to the roof at MSG.
15:01I mean, this was the theater of the absurd
15:04on the part of the Cleveland Cavaliers.
15:05And give the Knicks credit
15:08and give Jalen Brunson credit
15:10and give Mike Brown credit,
15:13they took advantage.
15:15They just kept coming.
15:17I mean, it was unreal.
15:19It was attack them, switch,
15:21Brunson calling forward.
15:23And Brunson's amazing in every possible way,
15:25but specifically when it comes to this,
15:27the ability to know
15:29when he's the hot hand,
15:31when he needs to distribute,
15:32when he needs to get the others involved.
15:34Man, he had James Harden on him.
15:36I mean, are you kidding me?
15:38Amateur hour from a Cleveland perspective.
15:41And hey, Knicks kept going to the well
15:44because this was working like no other.
15:47Now, here's how Donovan Mitchell
15:49summed up what the Cavs did
15:51following such a disappointing loss.
15:54Should have won the game, Joe.
15:56I ain't going to put it on either of those things.
15:58And even if there was complacency,
16:00we're up 22 with God knows how much time,
16:03eight minutes.
16:04Did I win the game?
16:05We didn't.
16:07So Donovan Mitchell nailed it, right?
16:10And this is where,
16:12well, first of all,
16:13Donovan Mitchell I thought was superb last night.
16:15Absolutely superb last night.
16:17He deserves a lot of credit.
16:19And I thought he was amazing until the end.
16:24Look at his points.
16:25Look at his stats for the game.
16:28And then take a look at how bad he was
16:30in the fourth quarter and overtime.
16:33Clearly, he tweaked something.
16:36He was not healthy at the very end there.
16:39This series is over.
16:41And I'm not saying that screaming,
16:44yelling, raising my voice.
16:46I picked the Knicks to win the series in six.
16:49The Cleveland Cavaliers
16:51came into Madison Square Garden last night
16:55and grossly outplayed the Knicks.
16:59Grossly outplayed them.
17:00And the Knicks won that game.
17:03The Cavs have done an unbelievable job
17:05all postseason long,
17:07bouncing back from bad losses
17:09or losses in general in the postseason.
17:13Specifically, the one that I give him the most credit,
17:15losing game six of the Piston series at home
17:17and then bouncing back and destroying Detroit,
17:19of course, in game number seven.
17:21We could talk about R.J. Barrett's shot,
17:24game six in the Toronto series,
17:25then bam, what they did to the Raptors game seven.
17:28Plenty of examples when you have
17:30back-to-back seven-game series.
17:32But this series is over.
17:34And you don't bounce back
17:36from something like this.
17:38It just, it does not happen.
17:40You don't recover.
17:42How could anyone,
17:44Knicks fan, Cavs fan,
17:46neutral NBA fan,
17:47honestly and objectively
17:49go into the crystal ball and say,
17:51Cleveland's going to be able to beat the Knicks
17:53four times over the next six games.
17:56No one's saying it
17:57because it's not going to happen.
17:59Harden is terrible.
18:00The Cavs look splat against the wall.
18:03And the Knicks won the game
18:06where they were rusty.
18:08The Knicks won the game
18:10where they didn't play well.
18:12This is the kind of loss that honestly
18:14stays with you for a very long time
18:17if you're the Cleveland Cavaliers.
18:19And they've got a game two coming up Thursday
18:21at Madison Square Garden.
18:22So that to me is ridiculously problematic
18:25for Cleveland.
18:26And honestly,
18:27I don't even know how my prediction holds
18:29and it goes six games.
18:30Because now that the Knicks played
18:33for the first time in nine days,
18:35they're going to be better,
18:38fresher, more ready, energized.
18:41They know they got away with one.
18:43They know Jalen Brunson's mentality
18:46of next play, next game.
18:48They understand all of it here.
18:51That's who the Knicks are.
18:52That's the secret sauce.
18:54That's the beauty of this Knicks team.
18:55I don't know how the Cavs get off the map.
18:59I have absolutely no idea
19:01how they respond in a favorable way.
19:03I think all the players
19:05have to be looking sideways at Kenny Atkinson.
19:07I don't know how James Harden
19:09shows his face ever again.
19:11And the Knicks didn't even get anything last night
19:14from Carl Anthony Towns.
19:16OG Ananobi was great late.
19:18He obviously was coming back from a hammy.
19:21The Knicks can play a million times better
19:25than they did.
19:26And they won that game
19:27in the greatest win you'll ever see.
19:29It's over.
19:30I'm not saying that screaming.
19:32I'm not saying it in a subject-to-hyperbole way.
19:36I said they were going to the finals
19:38at every single checkpoint of the season,
19:40including before the playoffs,
19:42including before the Cleveland series.
19:44The only question is,
19:46will Cleveland get a game?
19:47And I am guessing they will
19:49at some point in Cleveland?
19:52Maybe?
19:53But I don't think there's a chance in hell
19:56the Cavs bounce back
19:59and beat the Knicks
20:00coming up in game number two
20:02to the Western Conference Finals.
20:04And we can't start talking
20:07about tonight's matchup
20:08without showing Wemby doing this.
20:11Spurs got numbers hungry
20:13now behind the plate.
20:14Five on four.
20:15Wemby's going to pull a deep three.
20:17Wemby.
20:18Oh!
20:19Clear in the air.
20:20And then in transition.
20:22Look at this.
20:2328 feet from your 7'4 center.
20:28Nothing but cash money.
20:31I mean, I'm still not over that.
20:33That's one of the greatest things
20:34I've ever seen.
20:36So, it's Wemby's world.
20:38Then you've got to wonder
20:39if the Thunder can slow down
20:41Victor Wambanyama
20:42coming up in the ballgame tonight
20:43in OKC.
20:46So, Vegas agrees with me on this.
20:49I think OKC wins tonight.
20:51And I would be floored,
20:53absolutely stunned,
20:55if OKC lost this game.
20:57Don't misinterpret.
20:58I said OKC in seven.
21:00I can easily see the Spurs winning.
21:02Wemby is a freak show.
21:03He's Wilts and Shaq and Steph
21:06and Otani and E.T. all rolled into one.
21:10He's unbelievable and out of this world.
21:13And the role players are terrific.
21:14We'll see if Fox is able to go.
21:16And what Castle brings to the table
21:18is just amazing.
21:20And he deserves so much credit.
21:22Look, Victor Wambanyama,
21:24you could say anything
21:26and I would believe it, right?
21:27He wins the next three games.
21:29He beats the Knicks.
21:30Whatever it is,
21:32Victor Wambanyama is capable
21:33of anything and everything
21:35at any given moment.
21:36I do think we need to remember
21:40Thunder is still the best team
21:41in the NBA.
21:42And that requires all of us
21:44to take a breath.
21:45I think the Knicks
21:46can win a championship.
21:47I think Spurs can win a championship.
21:48But you still have to get through OKC.
21:51They lost a game.
21:53That was believable.
21:55Spurs can win this series.
21:56They've got great players.
21:57They beat OKC in the regular season,
21:594-1.
22:00But I just don't see,
22:02especially at home,
22:04Thunder laying an egg.
22:06I don't believe that
22:08that's going to happen.
22:09Dealing with Wambanyama
22:10is not going to be easy.
22:12I also would suggest this
22:14as we show you the highlights
22:15from what transpired
22:16and the way that game finished
22:18and it goes into overtime
22:19and then another overtime.
22:21Wambanyama put up insane,
22:24amazing, unbelievable,
22:25sensational, out-of-this-world statistics
22:28and a performance for the ages.
22:31Spurs still needed double overtime.
22:34So this is unreal.
22:38He's absolutely capable
22:40of doing this again.
22:42I would like to think,
22:44for the sake of accuracy,
22:46that SGA, who's the MVP,
22:49is going tonight
22:50to be the best player on the floor.
22:53I don't think that's a hot take.
22:55I think that we're talking,
22:56you almost got to show this
22:57over and over again,
22:58remind people,
22:59that SGA, not Wemby,
23:01actually won the MVP.
23:02And again,
23:03I live for Victor Wambanyama.
23:05But I do think that OKC
23:07needs to do a better job
23:08in terms of handling
23:09success and prosperity.
23:11How about when the cameras
23:12were in their huddle
23:13and you saw them chase them away?
23:16You know, OKC is a very together team.
23:19OKC, you know,
23:20I love when they all get together
23:22for the post-game interviews.
23:24This was weird.
23:25If you're Alex Caruso and company,
23:27you can't have it both ways, right?
23:29You know, I get it.
23:31You were pissed at the time.
23:33You know,
23:34you're always inviting everyone in.
23:37Handle it better.
23:38Have to handle it better.
23:39I would be surprised,
23:43disappointed,
23:45if OKC lost this game.
23:47I think SGA pumps in
23:4835 to 40 tonight.
23:50I think we're going to be
23:51talking about SGA
23:52as a free throw merchant tomorrow.
23:55I think they're going to win
23:56the OKC way
23:57with depth and defense
23:58and SGA.
24:00I would be stunned
24:02and I will give all the credit
24:03in the world to the Spurs
24:04who absolutely can win this series.
24:06I would be stunned
24:09if you ultimately see
24:11OKC lose tonight
24:12and go 0-2
24:13with both games
24:15in Oklahoma City.
24:16Some news off the court
24:17where America found out
24:18about the Jason Kidd firing
24:20from none other than Charles Barkley.
24:22It's you.
24:23Oh my goodness.
24:24Here you go.
24:25What, you need a towel for it?
24:26No, Jason Kidd just got fired.
24:28Oh.
24:28Wow.
24:29Well, here you go.
24:31Man, that's a shocker there.
24:33Yes, I did.
24:33Breaking news.
24:34Breaking news.
24:34Just came on my phone.
24:37How about it?
24:38The Chunkster.
24:39I was watching at the time.
24:41Yeah, no kidding.
24:43Jason Kidd's gone.
24:44Now, I have to laugh, right?
24:45Because when I first saw this news
24:47right before the Eastern Conference Finals,
24:49I started thinking,
24:51hmm, this breaks right before Mike Brown
24:55is in a pressurized situation,
24:57and if the Knicks somehow don't beat Cleveland
25:01and the Knicks and Leon Rose
25:04always wanted to interview Jason Kidd
25:07and I thought without question
25:09he was the leader in the clubhouse
25:11and the frontrunner
25:12to replace Tom Thibodeau
25:14and they fired him
25:15after they lost in the Eastern Conference Finals
25:16last year.
25:18What if the Knicks don't...
25:20Ah, forget about it on the heels
25:21of what happened last night with the Knicks.
25:23So, here's what's interesting
25:25when it comes to Jason Kidd.
25:29Jason Kidd had to go
25:32because of the stench of Luka.
25:35It's not fair, but it's accurate.
25:38First of all, the overall record
25:40is literally 500, right?
25:43And according to multiple reports,
25:46Jason Kidd, while he wasn't
25:49Nico Harrison in terms of
25:51you need to trade Luka,
25:53I mean, he was on board
25:56with the decision.
25:57So, if you're ultimately
26:00Masai Ujiri,
26:01the incredible new lead executive
26:03for the Mavericks,
26:04you have to go to ownership
26:06and say,
26:07we need to get anyone associated
26:10with Luka Doncic
26:11out of the organization.
26:12So, I think the Masai Ujiri
26:14hiring is unreal.
26:15What he did with the Raptors,
26:17he's so well-respected,
26:18he's brilliant.
26:19And this is phenomenal
26:20for the Dallas Mavericks.
26:22So, if Ujiri goes to management
26:26and says,
26:27okay, you're going to absorb
26:29the 40 mil on Jason Kidd's contract
26:32because we need to start fresh,
26:35this is how it's going to go down.
26:36As simple as that.
26:38So, look, it's funny.
26:41If you asked me 24 hours ago,
26:42I would have said maybe
26:43this is a Jason Kidd-Nicks topic.
26:45If you asked me midway through
26:47the fourth quarter,
26:48I would have said the same thing.
26:50Jason Kidd, phenomenal point guard,
26:53hall of famer,
26:55you know, did some great things
26:56as a Nets coach.
26:58Then, remember his exit?
27:00Very slippery,
27:01goes to Milwaukee.
27:02You know, then everything
27:03with the Lakers,
27:04then Dallas.
27:05You know, follow some of the tweets.
27:07He's a very slippery guy,
27:10by Jason Kidd.
27:12So, I think it all adds up
27:14to Messiah Jury,
27:15especially now with Cooper Flagg
27:16wanting to start fresh.
27:17It was not on my bingo card
27:20for news yesterday.
27:22You take a breath,
27:24I can understand why Jason Kidd
27:26is done because of the Lucas stench
27:28in Dallas.
27:30Meanwhile, Kansas City Chiefs
27:32wide receiver Rasheed Rice
27:33has been sentenced to serve
27:3530 days in jail
27:36after testing positive for marijuana
27:37and violation of the terms
27:39of his probation
27:40for a role in a crash
27:42that left multiple people injured
27:43on a Dallas highway
27:45a couple of years ago.
27:46ESPN's Adam Schefter reports
27:48that one week before
27:50being ordered to serve
27:5130 days in jail,
27:52which he's currently serving,
27:54Rice underwent a cleanup surgery
27:57on his right knee
27:58to remove loose debris
28:01that was causing inflammation
28:02and now it's expected
28:04to sideline him for two months.
28:07If you're the Kansas City Chiefs
28:09having Rasheed Rice undergo surgery
28:12and then recover from surgery
28:15in prison is under the umbrella
28:19of not what you want
28:21in terms of rehab,
28:24in terms of preparation
28:25for a season.
28:27Obviously, there are mini camp
28:28and OTAs going on right now.
28:31This is not what you want
28:33or what you need
28:34if you're Andy Reid,
28:35if you're Patrick Mahomes,
28:37if you're the Kansas City Chiefs.
28:39Now, Andy Reid has always been
28:42excellent in terms of
28:43dealing with troubled ballplayers.
28:45We've seen that in Philadelphia.
28:46We've seen that in Kansas City.
28:49He's got a gift.
28:50One of the reasons why,
28:51I think he's on the Mount Rushmore
28:53in the history of NFL coaches.
28:55Andy Reid is phenomenal.
28:56I also think the 2026 Chiefs,
29:00this is a weird team,
29:02a very strange team.
29:04And I think that Rasheed Rice,
29:06at the end of the day,
29:08nothing is guaranteed
29:09in terms of his health,
29:11in terms of his availability,
29:12and it's just more
29:15into the conversation
29:17on why I'm having
29:19trouble trusting Kansas City
29:21as a team
29:22that can make any kind of run
29:24in 2026.
29:26But wait, there's more.
29:28Remember what I told you?
29:29You told me what?
29:30That he could hit?
29:31I told you he was going to be
29:33probably the biggest rival
29:34he was going to have
29:35in the American League.
29:36For MVP?
29:37For MVP.
29:38I told you that.
29:39Ben Rice is going to be the one
29:41that's going to take votes away
29:42from Aaron Judge.
29:43What is it about his swing
29:44that made you say that?
29:45Everything.
29:46Tell me.
29:46The guy can turn on the fastball.
29:47Can he break the ball?
29:49It's patient enough.
29:50And he's got a great lineup
29:52behind him.
29:53I don't think this kid
29:55is going to panic.
29:56Yankee Stadium plays
29:57perfectly for him.
29:58I think it's going to be
30:00the biggest rival
30:00Aaron Judge is going to have
30:02in his own team.
30:02The 2-0.
30:04High fly ball.
30:05Right field.
30:06Sanchez back.
30:07On the track.
30:08Out the wall.
30:09See ya.
30:10A home run from Ben Rice.
30:12A two-run shot.
30:14And the Yankees lead 5-3.
30:16And that two-run homer
30:17from Benny Rice.
30:19Rice was cooking
30:20boiling hot rice.
30:21Are you kidding me?
30:2316th of the year.
30:25That was in the fifth
30:26to break a tie.
30:27And that was everything
30:29my New York Yankees needed.
30:31Rice's 16th home of the year.
30:33Third in the last five games.
30:34And I honestly,
30:35I just,
30:36I can't get enough
30:37of watching him.
30:38I love what Pedro Martinez
30:39had to say right there.
30:40That was absolutely incredible.
30:42When you take a look
30:43at the ability
30:44for Ben Rice
30:45to now be in the conversation
30:47when it comes to MVP.
30:49And look,
30:49that'll be ultra difficult
30:51because it's still
30:52Aaron Judge's team
30:53first and foremost.
30:54And he's still the straw
30:55that serves a drink.
30:56But yeah,
30:57the way Rice is playing
30:58right now,
30:59he has been
31:00the most amazing,
31:02most dominant,
31:02most tough,
31:03most clutch Yankees
31:05so far on offense
31:06this season.
31:07It'll be judged
31:07when it's all said and done.
31:08But let's make sure
31:10we give Ben Rice his due.
31:11How about Garrett Cole?
31:12This to me was as big
31:14or bigger news
31:15when it comes to
31:16the New York Yankees.
31:18And Aaron Boone
31:19made it official
31:20and there was a conversation,
31:21well,
31:22would he get another
31:22minor league start?
31:23I am so obsessed.
31:26Tommy John surgery,
31:27missed all of last year,
31:29hasn't pitched for the Yankees
31:30in an actual game
31:31this year, obviously.
31:32He's been down on the farm,
31:34you know,
31:34pitching for the Somerset Patriots.
31:36I am so excited
31:38as a Yankee fan.
31:39And now,
31:41even with issues,
31:42even with Tampa
31:44in first place,
31:45even with bullpen woes,
31:47this piece of news
31:50means you can start dreaming
31:51about the World Series.
31:52This piece of news
31:54means you can start thinking
31:56about the Yankees
31:57winning the American League
31:58and winning a championship
31:59this year.
32:00That's all I need to see
32:02as a Yankee fan.
32:03How about the Dodgers
32:04and the Padres?
32:05Another one-run game
32:06last night.
32:06Freddie Freeman
32:07had a couple of homers
32:08for the Dodgers
32:08before they manufactured
32:10an unearned run
32:11off of Mason Miller,
32:13the Padres' vaunted closer
32:14who had held opponents
32:16scoreless in 20
32:17of his first 21 appearances
32:19this season.
32:20Freddie getting going,
32:22hitting a couple of bombs
32:23to me was huge.
32:25I always say this
32:26when it comes to the Dodgers,
32:28my worry level is zero.
32:30I think the Dodgers
32:31are going to be more than A-OK.
32:33Obviously, the Padres,
32:35you know,
32:35beat them the night before.
32:36I think the Padres
32:38are going to be around
32:38all season long.
32:40You can color me
32:41absolutely obsessed here
32:42when it comes to
32:43the Dodgers and Padres
32:45and the way that the Dodgers
32:47were able to bounce back.
32:48And the fact that we have
32:49a couple of these games,
32:51one run,
32:52absolutely awesome.
32:54He's the Miz.
32:55Nobody beats him.
32:56Jacob Mizrowski,
32:57unanimal again,
32:58dominating the Cubs
32:59over six shutout innings.
33:01Totally in Milwaukee
33:02to a 5-2 win
33:04over the rival Cubbies.
33:05I'll tell you,
33:07this kid is legit.
33:08You saw him dominate
33:09the Yankees.
33:10You saw him absolutely
33:11just strike everybody out.
33:13You know,
33:14he's so tall.
33:15The fastball,
33:15the way he spots his pitches,
33:17the way he has wind up,
33:19it's funky,
33:19he can't even see
33:20the release point.
33:22I'm obsessed.
33:23We talk about Skeens
33:24all the time.
33:25We talk about Otani
33:27all the time.
33:28Listen,
33:29Miz deserves
33:29some Cy Young conversation
33:31and love,
33:32and I think right now
33:33the way he's pitching,
33:34he's earned it,
33:35and that every year,
33:37I get the Brewers wrong.
33:38Every year.
33:39We now have
33:40the Milwaukee Brewers
33:42half game ahead
33:43of the Cubbies
33:43when you take a look
33:44at it for first place
33:46in the division.
33:47That's the show.
33:48If you miss any portion
33:48of the show,
33:49just do what I do.
33:50Rewatch the show
33:51over and over
33:52and over again.
33:53Go to the New York
33:54Post Sports YouTube page
33:56and the California
33:56Post Sports YouTube page.
33:58We'll see you tomorrow
