Both are fits, but would adding one or both of the Diggs brothers be the right move(s) for the Commanders, not just on the field but in the locker room?
Transcript
00:00All right, digs and digs.
00:02You want them both?
00:03You want one of them more than the other one?
00:06Or you don't want either one?
00:09For me, I'll take both of them, man.
00:12If Adam Peters and Dan Quinn say these guys are a plus on the field,
00:18which I think is probably with Steph is a given that he's a plus on the field,
00:24and we feel like whatever their issues are in a short-dose, one-year environment,
00:31we can manage it, and there'll be a plus for us.
00:34Lou in D.C.
00:35Lou, go ahead.
00:38Kevin, what's going on, man?
00:40What's up, Lou?
00:40How are you, man?
00:42Good, good.
00:44I take Steph on because he's been healthy, and I don't know about Trey, man.
00:51Trey, you know, watching him the last few seasons, you know,
00:55since he got paid and been injured, and he's just not been the same.
00:59So I don't know if he's going to be, you know, 100% or whatever,
01:04but he's just not – he hasn't been the same.
01:06Right, that's true.
01:07You know, like you said, he's a competitive, and, you know,
01:10you want a guy like that, and I don't think he's a – he'd be a distract –
01:15he'd be a distract for the team.
01:18I think he just wanted to win, and, you know, I think he want to win a championship.
01:20So I think I take him over his brother, but, yeah, that's what I think.
01:25I know we needed a cornerback, you know, but at the end of the day,
01:29I don't know if that's going to – you know, if he's not 100%,
01:32why would we want him on the team?
01:34So that's what I kind of, you know, even though, you know, him and Dan,
01:37they go back to, you know, back in their days in Dallas.
01:41But I don't know, man.
01:42But that's what I think, Kev.
01:43I appreciate him.
01:43Yeah, I'm looking up – so Diggs last year, all right, in October,
01:49was placed on injured reserve due to lingering concussion symptoms.
01:53He was activated December 20th before a game against the Chargers,
02:00a Cowboys game against the Chargers.
02:02Played in eight games last year for Dallas, 25 combined tackles,
02:07and then the Cowboys released him on December 30th.
02:09I did not remember this, but the Packers signed him off waivers,
02:14and he played in their season finale and in their wild card loss to the Bears
02:22where he had three combined tackles in that playoff loss to Chicago
02:28in the wild card run.
02:29Man, I did not remember that the Packers signed him.
02:33I mean, here's the thing about Trayvon, man.
02:36He's 27 years old, 26 years old.
02:3927 years old.
02:42He is a ball hawk.
02:44He is – he's six feet, right?
02:486'1", 200 pounds, and he can make plays.
02:53By the way, he can return some kicks too.
02:57But these are two needs, obviously, for the team.
03:02I mean, if you told me I can only have one, give me Steph next year.
03:05I know what he can do.
03:06I know what he just did.
03:08Daryl.
03:09Daryl, go ahead.
03:12Kevin, thanks for taking my call.
03:14Sure.
03:14Yeah, I like them both, man.
03:16I want them to bring both of them in.
03:18And as far as Trayvon, he's lost his stuff.
03:22But he is really good when you put pressure on the quarterback.
03:27Yeah, he is.
03:27I would put him – I would put him at safety.
03:29Yeah, I was thinking about the same thing.
03:31But they're overloaded at safety.
03:34They don't have an issue at safety.
03:37Yeah, but he's better than everything we have at safety.
03:40You know, he's Will Harris.
03:42And do you want – what's the guy?
03:45Summer 20?
03:46I mean, he's better than him.
03:48You know, he can't –
03:49Come on, Martin.
03:49He can't –
03:50Mark.
03:51Yeah, Nick Cross is probably going to play a lot in the box.
03:55You know, Trayvon's definitely more of a free safety if you were to get moved to safety.
04:00And that's probably a Will Harris spot for sure.
04:03Yeah, I mean, I want them to add better players, period.
04:08I want more good players.
04:11I think they did a nice job in this offseason.
04:14But they still aren't there talent-wise.
04:21You want them both.
04:25Daryl wants them both.
04:26Let's go –
04:29Daryl, you're breaking up, man.
04:31Sorry about that.
04:31Let's go to Bob in Rockville.
04:33Bob, go ahead.
04:35Diggs, Diggs, both of them, neither of them, one or the other.
04:41Well, here it is, Kevin.
04:43We played a game called Pass to Trash in poker a long time ago.
04:47A bunch of guys that grew up in Springbrook.
04:51How many Super Bowl rings do either one of them have, Kevin?
04:55None.
04:56None.
04:57Yeah.
04:57For that reason, I don't want either one of them in town.
05:02Forget about it.
05:03Next.
05:04Thanks for the call, Kevin.
05:06Yeah, I'm just trying to think.
05:07Does anybody on the roster have Super Bowl rings?
05:11Who on our roster has Super Bowl?
05:13Did they win one?
05:15No, Chenault won.
05:15Chenault's got one.
05:16Yeah.
05:16Obviously, Bobby Wagner had one.
05:19Well, is he on the roster?
05:21No, he's not on the roster anymore.
05:23I mean, if we're going by that criteria, you're in trouble.
05:28You're getting rid of the entire team.
05:30Who does have a Super Bowl ring?
05:33Chenault is one, definitely.
05:36Did Rashad White, was he a part of the Tampa teams that won one?
05:41I think so, but he may have gotten drafted the year following.
05:45Nick Allegretti, definitely.
05:47Yeah, for sure.
05:50Andrew Wiley, Super Bowl ring.
05:52He's on the roster.
05:55A lot of Chiefs players.
05:57Yeah.
06:00I mean, Javon Kinlaw was on teams that made it to the Super Bowl,
06:04but that doesn't count.
06:05We're looking for Super Bowl rings.
06:10Yeah, I think we just hit them all.
06:12I think we just got them all.
06:14Allegretti, Wiley, and maybe Rashad White.
06:22Was Rashad White on that 20 team that won it?
06:24No, Rashad White started his career in 22, so he was a little late.
06:27All right.
06:29Let's go to Avin.
06:30Avin, Diggs brothers, plural.
06:33Do you want them both?
06:34Do you want neither one of them, or is it just one that you would take?
06:37Go ahead.
06:39Hey, Kevin.
06:40So, yeah, I'd take them both.
06:41I think Trayvon Diggs is pretty low-cost, low-risk, as a depth piece at least.
06:46I mean, and both guys have been a part of winning teams.
06:49They know what winning locker rooms are like, and, you know,
06:53I trust the culture of this team enough.
06:55And, you know, Stefan Diggs has been pretty consistently a high-level producer,
06:59performer.
07:01So I'd take both of them.
07:02But, Kevin, I just want to make the point, you know, the idea of, you know,
07:08surpassing Diggs and going for IUC and being all-in on IUC, you know,
07:12and people talk about IUC as being, you know, low-cost, low-risk,
07:16and even Diggs, low-cost, low-risk.
07:18I view Diggs legitimately as a low-cost, low-risk player because of how much
07:22he's produced, and he was just producing last year.
07:24But with IUC, I mean, it's going to be a low-cost in terms of contract,
07:29but it's high-cost in terms of the opportunity cost, especially if Stefan Diggs,
07:34you know, is on the Chiefs and Ravens and having another 1,000-yard season.
07:39Because, to me, Kevin, you know, with Jaden Daniels, with how much they've
07:42invested in this offensive line, you have an elite-caliber quarterback
07:45on a rookie contract, there's no reason this shouldn't be a top-10 offense.
07:49And if this offense isn't a top-10 type of offense, then a lot of the fire is
07:54going to be directed at Adam Peters.
07:55I think that may be true.
07:57That absolutely could be true.
07:59If we don't have an injury situation like last year, and your best players
08:05offensively play the significant majority of games, and they're not at least
08:11a top-10 – remember, they were a top-5 offense two years ago – if they're not
08:16at least a top-10 offense, a really good high-level offense, there's no doubt
08:22where the finger's going to get pointed.
08:24Now, you would say and I would say, well, it's not like he didn't try Pierce,
08:30Dobbs, Linderbaum – am I missing somebody in terms of offensive free agency,
08:35free agents that they went after?
08:37And, you know, they didn't add – they added a con quo, but the bottom line is
08:43he didn't deliver those players, and if there isn't enough around Jaden
08:47and it's obvious that they didn't really have enough for the schedule
08:51that they were facing, yeah, that's where the – I think it would come back
08:55to him for sure.
08:57Yeah, and I'll just say, you know, Dobbs, you know, I think they just had
09:01a strict price on Dobbs, and they could have – my point would be
09:04they could have gotten Dobbs, like he wasn't that expensive,
09:07they could have outbid the bathroom, but then, you know, then you can also say
09:10they could have gotten Diggs, they could have gotten Debo,
09:12they could have gotten Jennings.
09:14If IU doesn't work out, then we're going to fall back on that,
09:17being like there were other options.
09:18He wasn't the only option available.
09:21I think we are heading towards IU.
09:23That's my belief.
09:25I think Stefan – here's my guess right now.
09:28I think Stefan Diggs is going to end up on the Chiefs.
09:30You mentioned it, the Chiefs, maybe even the Ravens.
09:33One of those two teams.
09:35I don't know where Trayvon ends up.
09:36I don't think it's here, and I think Brandon IU ends up being here.
09:40I don't know when he ends up being here, but I think he ends up playing here.
09:45And I think that's been part of the plan all along,
09:48which is why they didn't go nuts on Dobbs necessarily.
09:53301-230-0980.
09:56Jonesy, Jonesy, go ahead.
09:58Diggs, Diggs, which of the two brothers do you want,
10:01or maybe you want both of them or neither of them?
10:03Go ahead.
10:05Thank you for taking my call.
10:06Kevin, how you been, man?
10:07Good, Jonesy.
10:08Good to hear your voice, man.
10:10Good to hear you as well, buddy.
10:11I listen to you all the time, even though I can't catch you.
10:14But I would take both of them because I know, Stephon,
10:19you would see left eight-man fronts as far as in your running game
10:24if he's on that field.
10:25I know that much.
10:29New England, they used them like a two-for-two pace,
10:33and they pretty much fed well with them.
10:35And, you know, I guess maybe, you know, quarterback experience
10:40is the reason why they didn't win the Super Bowl, you know, with this guy.
10:44But I believe if you get him, you can make a nice little playoff run with him.
10:51Trayvon, yeah, I would take him.
10:54I mean, he got the height.
10:55Just the thing is, I just wanted the endurance of this.
10:59But, yeah, but I would take – I would give both of them a chance.
11:02Yeah.
11:02All right.
11:03Thanks for the call.
11:05Good call.
11:06Good to hear from Jonesy.
11:08We do have our WaldorfHonda.com poll up.
11:13Yes, Max?
11:14That's right.
11:16The WaldorfHonda poll, Twitter poll, X poll, is driven, of course, by WaldorfHonda.
11:24It all starts with a click, WaldorfHonda.com.
11:29And the question is, the Diggs brothers could be considering a homecoming here in Washington.
11:35Would you want them suiting up in a commander's uniform this fall?
11:39Both brothers, just Steph, just Trayvon, or neither?
11:44I'll say both.
11:45Why not?
11:47I need good players.
11:48I want this season to be like the season two years ago.
11:51I want meaningful football post-Thanksgiving.
11:55It's always been the goal, but it's reasonable for that to be a goal now.
11:59We'll see you next time.
