00:00:00THE END
00:00:15Forget it, son.
00:00:20So?
00:00:21So?
00:00:22Chocs away.
00:00:22Chocs...
00:00:24Good luck.
00:00:24Telly-ho!
00:00:31I'd been in the wilderness for a few years,
00:00:34and I just thought,
00:00:35I want to be even more truthful to myself.
00:00:40We were all saying the same thing.
00:00:43Let's do pop, like mega-pop.
00:00:46I'm spinning around
00:00:48Move out of my way
00:00:50I know you're feeling me
00:00:52Cause you're like it like this
00:00:54I'm breaking it down
00:00:56The irony is...
00:00:58I know you're feeling me
00:01:00Kylie does mean boomerang.
00:01:03I did my best to come back.
00:01:08I've done some pretty, like Kermit kind of spot.
00:01:12Some bold, racy stuff.
00:01:16But...
00:01:17These are a bit bold.
00:01:19The gold-hot pants took it to another level.
00:01:23All 50 pence worth.
00:01:26And I said to the director,
00:01:28Is it...
00:01:30Is it...
00:01:31I love them.
00:01:32They're staying.
00:01:37It was the first time I worked with a female director.
00:01:42But I had no idea.
00:01:45The shots were quite that close.
00:01:48Until they did.
00:01:49Now to whet your appetite,
00:01:51We've got a lady who's got me,
00:01:52Richie Bobby,
00:01:53Hot Pants,
00:01:53The Gorgeous,
00:01:54Kylie Minogue!
00:02:01We can confirm,
00:02:03Kylie Minogue has her fifth UK number one hit single,
00:02:06With Spinning Around.
00:02:07And she's on the phone now.
00:02:09Congratulations, Kylie.
00:02:10It's your biggest hit for over ten years.
00:02:13I will say this.
00:02:16It's good to be back.
00:02:19The first single is whipping up more than a little controversy,
00:02:23Thanks to our skimpy little shorts.
00:02:25Would you go out the hostess like that?
00:02:28Well, let's just say...
00:02:30It would have been absolute fright if I put them on these days.
00:02:36Your bum has become like a force of nature in its own right.
00:02:39I believe there are like websites devoted to it,
00:02:41And there are children named after it.
00:02:42And it's become...
00:02:43It's a huge phenomenon.
00:02:45Your bum is enormous.
00:02:50Okay.
00:02:51Good chorus that.
00:02:53You're sounding in fine voice today.
00:02:55Oh, that's good.
00:02:56Okay.
00:02:57Let's go on to another track.
00:03:04I heard it as a demo.
00:03:09And then I was thrown into a panic saying,
00:03:11Is it mine?
00:03:12Fire up the mic.
00:03:13We've got to do this.
00:03:15The official in case of 40.
00:03:17Second highest new entry,
00:03:19Alien, Ant Farm and Smooth Criminal.
00:03:24So we do have a new number one.
00:03:27And we have her on the phone now.
00:03:29Hi, Kylie.
00:03:29You're top of the chart again.
00:03:30I'm beside myself.
00:03:32You're beginning to make this look easy.
00:03:34And then it went off the rector.
00:03:38So of course I arrived on a giant CD player.
00:03:46Hanging on to like nothing.
00:03:54So can you tell us?
00:03:56You're the creative director.
00:03:57Can you tell us about your role?
00:03:58And how does it all work?
00:03:59I smoke.
00:04:04It's all about drawing attention to her.
00:04:09I don't like seeing dancers' faces really.
00:04:12You have loads of different faces.
00:04:14It takes attention away from her.
00:04:16Which is why they all seem to be covered up.
00:04:17And why they all hate me.
00:04:19La, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la.
00:04:23Obviously you've got sex appeal.
00:04:26And sex sells.
00:04:30You are very sexy.
00:04:32Do you like looking sexy?
00:04:34Yeah.
00:04:37I felt liberated.
00:04:38I felt quite powerful.
00:04:41And I was like, oh, okay, yeah.
00:04:44What helps make it a sexy video is that it is my personality coming through.
00:04:49As opposed to what is meant to be sexy.
00:04:51But this is just, it's just me.
00:04:55Whether it's that addictive beat or that scandalous dress.
00:04:59I love this song.
00:05:01It's that chick from the 80s.
00:05:02Kylie Minogue's catchy dance song seems to have caught on here in the state.
00:05:06And we were discussing Kylie Minogue.
00:05:12Grooving to it and everything, right?
00:05:13Y'all feeling it too.
00:05:18Hello.
00:05:19How are you?
00:05:20Nice to see you.
00:05:21Can't see you.
00:05:24Healthy.
00:05:25I think this could be fucking great, you know.
00:05:28And we'll pay by numbers till something sticks.
00:05:33And don't mind doing it for the kids.
00:05:38So come on.
00:05:42I mean, some people ask me about looking sexy with a tone in their voice like,
00:05:47well, is that right?
00:05:48Should you be doing that?
00:05:49And I say, well, I wouldn't like to feel that I couldn't be myself.
00:05:54It is part of my character.
00:05:55And there was a knowing to it.
00:05:58And winking.
00:06:00Can I have another one of these, please?
00:06:02Of course.
00:06:03Is that all right?
00:06:04Was that enough money?
00:06:05Yeah?
00:06:06Delightful.
00:06:07Okay.
00:06:08Do you think we'd do one more?
00:06:09Yep.
00:06:09Just because we can.
00:06:17For the first time, I wasn't trying to be someone else.
00:06:29I would like to know, gay people always have been in love with you.
00:06:33Yeah.
00:06:34What's the reason?
00:06:35There was a time in the beginning of my career when I was having this tirade of nastiness just for
00:06:42being myself.
00:06:43And I think my gay audience may have related to that.
00:06:46So let's stand through all our fears.
00:06:49I feel like I could go to war with my gay audience.
00:06:55And they were there way back when it was the most uncool thing.
00:06:58And I just want to say a heartfelt thank you to all of you for your support throughout the years.
00:07:05I just want you to know that I'm here for you.
00:07:12And the Grammy goes to...
00:07:15Kylie Minogue.
00:07:15Kylie Minogue.
00:07:16Kylie Minogue.
00:07:17Kylie Minogue!
00:07:18Kylie Minogue!
00:07:22It felt great to be amongst people who are just celebrating you for being yourself.
00:07:28So, a few years ago, it seems that pop was a dirty word.
00:07:34No longer!
00:07:44What I've come to realise, I hope you're recording, is...
00:07:50I might not be blessed with a voice from the heavens.
00:08:03I don't have anyone else's voice.
00:08:13What I have is my voice.
00:08:28First half was good, wasn't it?
00:08:29And it came in with a funny note.
00:08:31Mm.
00:08:34Yeah.
00:08:34Yeah.
00:08:35Just stay on that, don't go up high.
00:08:37Because it's a bit dodger.
00:08:39Oh, okay.
00:08:41Mm-hmm.
00:08:43Try it.
00:08:44Good luck.
00:08:46Sorry.
00:08:50Bluff.
00:08:51Ooh.
00:08:53Ooh.
00:08:54Ooh.
00:08:57Ooh.
00:08:59Ooh.
00:09:00Ooh.
00:09:02Ooh.
00:09:04Ooh.
00:09:07Ooh.
00:09:09Ooh.
00:09:11Ooh.
00:09:12That's great.
00:09:12Well done.
00:09:13Yay!
00:09:14Best of luck.
00:09:15Come on, come on.
00:09:17Can I come in?
00:09:19One more take.
00:09:20Oh.
00:09:21Then you're done.
00:09:22Lazy boot.
00:09:23God.
00:09:23Pop stars today.
00:09:30My final guest is a megastar of pop.
00:09:34Now we're rolling, Saturn, attention.
00:09:36Welcome, please, Kylie Minogue.
00:09:38Oh.
00:09:41The last time you came on the program, I talked to you about your relationships.
00:09:44Mm-hmm.
00:09:44And you're a new fellow now.
00:09:45Mm-hmm.
00:09:46You're a Frenchman.
00:09:47Mm-hmm.
00:09:47Are Frenchmen better than English guys?
00:09:50How could I possibly say that?
00:09:54The next guest tonight is a French actor.
00:09:56Please welcome Olivier Martinez.
00:09:59I can't ride a motorbike, but I love being on the back of a motorbike.
00:10:04I love it.
00:10:07Especially if you're on the back of the bike of the man you love.
00:10:11But is he the one, though?
00:10:13Is Olivier the one?
00:10:15He could be.
00:10:16I don't know.
00:10:20This has got nothing to do with me.
00:10:22I feel that I'm in the world.
00:10:24I can see stuff and no one can see you.
00:10:26It's like freedom in Paris.
00:10:32What about children?
00:10:33I mean, you're 35 now.
00:10:34Mm-hmm.
00:10:34But you're leaving a bit late, aren't you?
00:10:36You're 35.
00:10:36I'm aware of this life.
00:10:39I was not too late.
00:10:43But, obviously, a woman of my age can't help but think about those things.
00:11:01Plus...
00:11:02All right.
00:11:03Long last.
00:11:03How are you getting on?
00:11:05I'm headlining Glastonbury, which was a huge, a huge deal.
00:11:10It's a really good idea.
00:11:14Because I was a pop artist.
00:11:16Okay, bye.
00:11:20People like me didn't headline Glastonbury.
00:11:26You let us know when you're coming.
00:11:29When I've watched other people perform there...
00:11:32Feastonbury!
00:11:35Trying to take in the breadth of that audience...
00:11:41Is kind of impossible.
00:11:46But it was huge.
00:11:48And I was ready for it.
00:11:51The event is expected to be sold out in just seven hours.
00:12:00So...
00:12:00Life was...
00:12:02It was good.
00:12:04But I am a faithless.
00:12:06Somewhere out there, they're looking down saying,
00:12:08All right, this is the bit where she thinks she's got it together...
00:12:11And it's all going to go pear-shaped.
00:12:21Okay.
00:12:22And...
00:12:22Leave it!
00:12:23Leave it!
00:12:25Leave it!
00:12:29Leave it!
00:12:32Leave it!
00:12:36Leave it!
00:12:37Hey!
00:12:37Yeah!
00:12:38Yeah!
00:12:39But I was really tired.
00:12:43I remember...
00:12:45I don't know, like, putting...
00:12:46Just putting my head down a bit more often.
00:12:50A few more photos of me just...
00:12:52Out.
00:12:53One more, straight away.
00:12:56Do it once more.
00:12:57Once more.
00:12:59And...
00:12:59There was not a lot of me anyway.
00:13:02I was pretty...
00:13:04Tiny, but I was like...
00:13:05Like, a little bit tinier.
00:13:09How are you feeling?
00:13:12I can't actually speak just yet.
00:13:14Sorry.
00:13:15I'm having it.
00:13:17I'll leave it.
00:13:19The lady back!
00:13:20I kept saying...
00:13:21Maybe I'm too old for this.
00:13:29Well, I was ill and I didn't know I was ill.
00:13:36It's cancer we're talking about, but I don't even think I said the word.
00:13:39Yep.
00:13:40Yeah.
00:13:44But at the time, I was on a world tour.
00:13:48And I was still on stage in two or three days.
00:13:51So...
00:13:51I had to have a pretty good reason not to turn up.
00:13:59But then I had a check in London to check a lump and was told it's fine.
00:14:15And let's just put it this way, by the time I got to Australia, it wasn't fine.
00:14:27I went for a screening.
00:14:32And a few biopsies later, they told me the news.
00:14:39I just kind of fell into a chair and then left in a total daze.
00:14:48What's happened?
00:14:50What does that mean?
00:14:53It's like the Earth's just on a different axis or like reality.
00:14:57Where's reality gone?
00:14:59Nothing felt real and yet it couldn't be more real.
00:15:06Did you and Kylie argue when you were younger?
00:15:08Of course.
00:15:11Sisters.
00:15:12I was in London.
00:15:15My parents phoned me.
00:15:18They said, look, we didn't want to do this on the phone, but we need to let you know.
00:15:25Kylie's not well.
00:15:29And that you've got pretty much 24 hours to get back to Australia before the news is going to hit.
00:15:36But it's a 26 hour flight away.
00:15:43There's the one thing that's me and my family.
00:15:46But the second thing is this news.
00:15:49What do we say and what do we do?
00:15:52Because if we said it, that was it.
00:15:55It would be all over the news.
00:15:57The government sets out its agenda.
00:15:59Yeah, that's right.
00:16:00And I really needed stillness to try and compute what's happening.
00:16:08But my entire crew were making the stage and waiting for me.
00:16:16So, obviously the tour was cancelled.
00:16:21At six o'clock, the pop singer Kylie Minogue has been diagnosed with the early stages of breast cancer.
00:16:27The 36 year old star has postponed the world tour.
00:16:31The singer, come on, you know, Kylie Minogue has been diagnosed with breast cancer.
00:16:35The breast cancer, Kylie Minogue.
00:16:36The store has been Kylie Minogue.
00:16:43Danny flew out of London today to be with her sister
00:16:49somebody said there's a film crew here trying to get an interview with you
00:16:55and I said I haven't spoken to my sister yet
00:17:00and my head was just um jet lagged and then I'm thinking oh shit
00:17:06if this is what's happening here
00:17:14the Minogue family have been reunited at the family home
00:17:17for one of the most difficult days they've faced
00:17:25intrusion at a level
00:17:29that none of us had experienced
00:17:31we're just wondering if there's any comment on reports
00:17:34that Carly's back in Melbourne
00:17:36in normal times news of her disease would have been released several weeks later
00:17:42but because there were concerts due to start here
00:17:45they had to release the details of her illness right away
00:17:52everybody is very hungry for news
00:17:54so we very much are at the ground floor if you like of this disease
00:17:58almost as part of the family
00:18:04we're going oh poor neighbours
00:18:07do you know how she's feeling
00:18:12yeah she'll be fine I'm sure she'll be fine
00:18:14the worst point was
00:18:16dad needed to go for a walk around the block with the dog
00:18:19the dog needed to go for a walk around the block
00:18:24and he couldn't get out of the gate
00:18:29nothing was healthy in any way
00:18:34and it really
00:18:37really made me angry
00:18:41and there are reports that she will be going into hospital today
00:18:46do we know where she's going to be treated
00:18:50it's understood the operation to remove the lump
00:18:53will take place at Cabrini Hospital
00:18:55where security has been increased
00:18:58medical staff have been offered
00:19:00a serious amount of money
00:19:02to take photos
00:19:05and I was feeling in the depths of
00:19:11absolute uncertainty
00:19:15and that was just the beginning
00:19:17Kylie Minogue returned home late this afternoon
00:19:21huddled on the back seat
00:19:24and I was so scared of what was ahead of me
00:19:35but thankfully
00:19:36I had my family
00:19:39so hypnotising isn't it
00:19:41yeah
00:19:43what did they say
00:19:45nothing
00:19:47no matter what happens
00:19:49I know
00:19:50my brother
00:19:51sister
00:19:52and my mum and dad
00:19:53will always be there for me
00:19:54so 26 hours
00:19:56we're there for each other
00:19:59and that's how our family rolls
00:20:02so have you found the last few days of
00:20:06reflecting with
00:20:08people staring at you
00:20:11how's that been?
00:20:14interesting
00:20:15yeah
00:20:15yeah
00:20:19we have never done anything like this before
00:20:21so
00:20:22it's not as scary as I thought it might be actually
00:20:26I think it's because we're in the dark
00:20:29oh my god
00:20:30oh yes

00:21:50she would have given a look
00:21:51how are you?
00:21:53I'm fine
00:21:55people I love
00:21:55I think oh no I had it once
00:21:57I don't want it
00:21:57they're just they're still traumatised
00:21:59you climbed out the window
00:22:01to go bowling
00:22:02and then mum turned up
00:22:04finished my bowl
00:22:05yeah
00:22:06I turned around
00:22:07and I will
00:22:08arms folded
00:22:09never
00:22:10ever
00:22:11ever
00:22:12because you have the look
00:22:13it was like this
00:22:14yeah
00:22:14I was back
00:22:15it was like Stephen's building
00:22:16I walked up those stairs
00:22:17there was like sparks
00:22:17and fire coming from you
00:22:19and I stood at the trouble
00:22:21but whenever the going got tough
00:22:24she was there
00:22:38when you try your best
00:22:41she thought
00:22:45so everybody's kind of pace
00:22:47you see Kylie Minogue
00:22:48we thought well
00:22:49shouldn't we kind of salute
00:22:51absent friends
00:22:57I watched
00:22:59Blessingbury
00:23:00from my bedroom
00:23:09with a lot of emotion
00:23:14Coldplay
00:23:15dedicated Fix You
00:23:17to me
00:23:18so there I was
00:23:19so there I was
00:23:20weeping
00:23:28and I was a prisoner
00:23:30in the house
00:23:32the thing is
00:23:33wherever she's going
00:23:34to be treated
00:23:35she would have to stay there
00:23:37for several months
00:23:38I remember saying to my parents
00:23:40I can't stay here
00:23:43I want to do
00:23:45my chemotherapy in Paris
00:23:53but my dad really didn't want me to go
00:23:55like
00:23:56I can only imagine as a parent
00:23:58your instinct to
00:24:00want to protect your child
00:24:06especially in that moment
00:24:09but I said
00:24:10I've just
00:24:10I've got to go
00:24:14and that was
00:24:16really hard
00:24:28but my mum came with me
00:24:30so
00:24:30there was someone
00:24:31keeping an eye on me
00:24:38and that was
00:24:39such a blessing
00:24:43because I needed her
00:24:45now
00:24:45more than ever
00:24:59here we can see the cancer
00:25:01which you can't see
00:25:02on the normal image
00:25:05here we can see
00:25:06the spread to the lymph nodes
00:25:08and these
00:25:09I was in and out of hospital
00:25:11we can do a local
00:25:13or wide excision
00:25:14chemotherapy
00:25:15simple or radical
00:25:17radiotherapy
00:25:19and facing
00:25:20a long journey
00:25:25and I've been so self-conscious
00:25:27about losing my hair
00:25:30and so first I cut it
00:25:33and it's just like
00:25:35you hear about
00:25:39clumps
00:25:39there's no other way
00:25:41clumps come out
00:25:44so I buzz cut the whole thing
00:25:49how did I feel
00:25:52that was the least of my worries
00:25:53at that point in time
00:25:57I remember the pain
00:26:00just to get down the street
00:26:01was a real achievement
00:26:05I felt removed from my body
00:26:09removed from the world
00:26:14and yeah the mind goes to really dark places
00:26:19the chemotherapy was so hard
00:26:23physically
00:26:24physically
00:26:25mentally
00:26:27and
00:26:29you've met my sister
00:26:30she's tiny
00:26:34I remember mum calling me
00:26:36she's like
00:26:37we're in ICU again
00:26:38she can't feel her fingers
00:26:40and I'm not allowed
00:26:41to go in the room
00:26:44we didn't know
00:26:46if she's ever going to be well again
00:26:55it was that bad
00:26:56like is she going to live through this
00:27:04hi there I'm
00:27:06take two
00:27:08you mentioned your new single
00:27:09so maybe you can say
00:27:10hi I'm Damien Oak
00:27:11at the time
00:27:13I was working in London
00:27:15hi there I'm Damien Oak
00:27:16and this is my new single
00:27:18Nicole
00:27:21so I could just pop over
00:27:22and get to see her
00:27:24and it would give mum the break
00:27:27she needed
00:27:28for her sanity
00:27:33I remember saying
00:27:34if I could chop off
00:27:36one of my arms now
00:27:37and this would all go away
00:27:38I would
00:27:40I would
00:27:45I just felt so helpless
00:27:49there was nothing
00:27:50I could do for her
00:27:51done one full run through
00:27:53we won't do a full run now
00:27:55but we'll do
00:27:55a little bit
00:27:57so you get a vibe
00:27:58which song do I get to hear
00:28:01so
00:28:02last kind of action
00:28:03in your eyes
00:28:04get out of my way
00:28:05what do I have to do
00:28:06but then I thought about
00:28:09what had always kept us together
00:28:13okay I'll play music
00:28:14that's what I'll do
00:28:22that went back to what we knew
00:28:26back to
00:28:28the beginning
00:28:30that feeling of being around
00:28:31the record player again
00:28:34that feeling of family
00:28:36in the darkest place
00:28:43so we're going
00:28:45yes
00:28:47Danny would put the music on
00:28:48get me moving a little bit
00:28:52and mum was with us
00:28:56so it was like
00:28:57the girls
00:28:59in the process of getting her better
00:29:03music kept us going
00:29:12and one evening
00:29:15during chemotherapy treatment
00:29:17there was one little window
00:29:19and through that little window
00:29:22the Eiffel Tower
00:29:23started sparkling
00:29:25and I was like
00:29:27she's sparkling for me
00:29:28I thought
00:29:29I'm not finished
00:29:31this is not
00:29:32where I want to say goodbye
00:29:40and the day that
00:29:42I might have one eyelash
00:29:44would be like
00:29:44wow
00:29:45or the day I would put
00:29:47some make
00:29:47a little bit of makeup on
00:29:49was like a big
00:29:51a big deal
00:29:54it was so thrilling
00:29:56I'm like
00:29:57yeah

00:30:10it's the first time
00:30:12we've seen Kylie

00:30:18and when I got
00:30:19out of
00:30:20the danger zone
00:30:22there was still
00:30:23a long way to go
00:30:29but I just
00:30:30wanted to be

00:32:06I don't have stamina
00:32:07I don't have everything
00:32:09that I took for granted before
00:32:10and I'm still going through it
00:32:12it's not like
00:32:13hey it's all over
00:32:14and I'm
00:32:15it doesn't stop like that
00:32:16does it
00:32:16no it doesn't
00:32:17I still have treatments
00:32:18I didn't write much about my experience
00:32:21maybe in my life now
00:32:23I would
00:32:23but I certainly didn't feel like
00:32:25this is the time to do an entire album
00:32:26about
00:32:28what I've just been through
00:32:30this would be a trip
00:32:31let's see
00:32:32was it a conscious decision by you
00:32:34that marriage and babies come later
00:32:36um
00:32:37no
00:32:37no I've just
00:32:40just rolled along
00:32:43oh here we go
00:32:44here we go
00:32:47what is this
00:32:49um
00:32:50do you think we get to there
00:32:55there's
00:32:56there's
00:32:56so much more to cancer
00:32:58than just
00:32:59you had it
00:33:00you got through it
00:33:01and you're fine
00:33:02well you're fine for now
00:33:05um
00:33:10I was 36 when I got my diagnosis
00:33:13so already it's
00:33:14you
00:33:15you
00:33:15need to be thinking about
00:33:18children
00:33:20so I
00:33:21I did try
00:33:22I even postponed my chemotherapy
00:33:24to
00:33:25try
00:33:27um
00:33:28which is quite scary at the time
00:33:30because I just wanted
00:33:31you just wanted
00:33:33you want it
00:33:33out
00:33:34gone
00:33:35I want to feel
00:33:38safe
00:33:39I don't want this
00:33:42um
00:33:45but yeah
00:33:46I did
00:33:47try a few times
00:33:49with IVF
00:33:51always with such a
00:33:52it was such a
00:33:53thread of hope
00:33:57but I couldn't not try
00:34:02she's just amazing
00:34:04with kids
00:34:06she's always been
00:34:08good with kids
00:34:10just naturally
00:34:13one
00:34:13incredible
00:34:14two
00:34:15two
00:34:17one
00:34:18two
00:34:19good
00:34:19I know I'll have children
00:34:21I know that much
00:34:24I wouldn't have just one
00:34:25I definitely have more than one
00:34:27okay
00:34:28she's amazing
00:34:30with her nephews
00:34:34I never saw myself being a parent
00:34:38and she always did
00:34:40and that is
00:34:49that's heartbreaking
00:34:55I did try IVF
00:34:57like a number of times
00:35:00if it had happened
00:35:03it would have been just
00:35:04try it for a miracle
00:35:07but it didn't work out that way
00:35:10so
00:35:12this was
00:35:14like
00:35:14a letter
00:35:15to
00:35:18what might have been
00:35:23distant tiles
00:35:24my flower
00:35:25are you blowing in the breeze
00:35:28can you feel me
00:35:29as I breathe life
00:35:30into you
00:35:33wrapped in a blanket of hope
00:35:35asleep in a bed of dreams
00:35:38my step into eternity
00:35:40is not what it might have been
00:35:44or not at all
00:35:44for who knows which way
00:35:45the wind is going to blow
00:35:48or not at all
00:35:49for who knows which way
00:35:51the wind is going to blow
00:35:53or not at all
00:35:54for who knows which way
00:35:55the wind is going to blow
00:35:56I'm waiting for your gentle whisper
00:36:00distant child my flower
00:36:02are you blowing in the breeze
00:36:04can you feel me
00:36:06as I breathe life
00:36:08into you
00:36:11kids would you like some
00:36:12at some stage
00:36:13yeah I would love them
00:36:16we have to see
00:36:16but that
00:36:18yeah
00:36:22one can't help but wonder
00:36:25what it would have been like
00:36:27and
00:36:29I'm so close to my family
00:36:34it just
00:36:35it
00:36:35it
00:36:36it wasn't
00:36:37it wasn't my path
00:36:39so
00:36:40that's what I was writing about
00:36:41like
00:36:43even if you didn't
00:36:45come to be
00:36:46you're somewhere
00:36:47we all become
00:36:49something
00:36:49even if it's
00:36:51ash
00:36:52and we become
00:36:52something else
00:36:55so I was kind of hopeful
00:36:56and realistic
00:36:57at the same time
00:36:58that is the end of my box
00:37:12should we light a bonfire?
00:37:14I won't
00:37:14no
00:37:17let's pray that life's on the stairs
00:37:19yeah
00:37:21having had cancer
00:37:22I said to my manager
00:37:24call
00:37:25so and so
00:37:26and so and so
00:37:27I understand
00:37:28if they don't want to work
00:37:29with me anymore
00:37:31I just thought
00:37:32that that might be it
00:37:38oh I knew it
00:37:39I knew I'd come out
00:37:40real emotional
00:37:41oh
00:37:45hi
00:37:46I'll say hello
00:37:47in between
00:37:49people had tickets
00:37:50to her music show
00:37:51so we'd offer
00:37:52they could
00:37:53you know
00:37:53hand their tickets
00:37:54back in
00:37:55and
00:37:55they would reimburse them
00:37:57and
00:38:00nobody did
00:38:01come up
00:38:02and miss

00:38:25they would have been concerned
00:38:26are you ready
00:38:28can you handle it
00:38:29so I had a mountain to climb
00:38:31but I didn't fancy hanging around
00:38:34at the bottom of the mountain
00:38:38I was like
00:38:39when can we fire up this tour again
00:38:43no no you do this one
00:38:45she was like

00:38:51two
00:38:53I'm like oh for God's sake
00:38:54we need to keep you alive
00:38:56this one's slower
00:38:58then when you do the last one

00:39:04yeah
00:39:04and then from here
00:39:05you're walking
00:39:06and you're bringing the hand up

00:39:11feel able
00:39:12again
00:39:13that's what I wanted to feel
00:39:14able
00:39:16one
00:39:17two
00:39:18three
00:39:18four
00:39:19one
00:39:19two
00:39:20three
00:39:20four
00:39:23one
00:39:24two
00:39:24you could look at it
00:39:25that it's just a show
00:39:27follow
00:39:29nice
00:39:30but
00:39:31it's not just a show to me

00:39:48just let's take a break
00:39:52but it wasn't easy
00:39:57I felt so drained
00:39:58just take it gently
00:40:00I felt like my body was a battleground
00:40:03go quicker
00:40:05it was such an effort to get up to show speed again
00:40:08just give me a shout

00:44:39got rainbow colours and no more rain
00:45:00and love carries the hurt that you hold
00:45:02funny how life can't unfold
00:45:03oh yeah
00:45:04it feels like a wave of love
00:45:13but I didn't come through all of that
00:45:14and think pop music
00:45:16who cares
00:45:22in the scheme of things
00:45:23it's not that important
00:45:28but in that moment
00:45:29it actually means everything
00:45:50say you won't leave me no more
00:45:55say you won't leave me no more
00:46:01yes oh no
00:46:03cause I heard them all before
00:46:07a hundred times before
00:46:13I'll forgive and forget
00:46:17if you say I'll never go
00:46:21cause it's true what they say
00:46:24it's better than ever you love
00:46:45I was saved.
00:46:47I really was.
00:46:52Yeah, that's a big change, man.
00:46:55Of course, you learn what resilience means,
00:46:57and what love means.
00:47:00Yeah!
00:47:03Unbelievable.
00:47:05Woo!
00:47:06It's just fantastic.
00:47:10I'm just unbelievable.
00:47:12Can't wait for a second, Hannah.
00:47:15Dad is dancing.
00:47:18Oh, no, he's doing the dad dance.
00:47:22But having had cancer,
00:47:25one important thing to know is
00:47:27you're still the same person.
00:47:29And I remember coming out the other end,
00:47:33feeling more like myself than ever before.
00:47:37Woo!
00:47:43Woo!
00:47:46Woo!
00:47:47Woo!
00:47:49Woo!
00:47:50Woo!
00:47:51Woo!
00:47:52Woo!
00:47:53Woo!
00:47:54Woo!
00:48:21End.
00:48:25I had unfinished business.
00:48:29Let's put it that way.
00:48:31Okay, Kylie has some big news.
00:48:33What is it?
00:48:34Yeah, she's announced that she's going to be performing at Glastonbury Festival.
00:48:38Read my lips.
00:48:39Yeah.
00:48:41But my nerves were off the charts.
00:48:46I couldn't even say the word Glastonbury.
00:48:48It was like, that's the short show.
00:48:51Short show completely depends on the audience.
00:48:55Disappointment for many Glastonbury fans.
00:48:57Tickets sold out in 40 minutes this morning.
00:49:01The event will host around 200,000 visitors.
00:49:04This is live to TV.
00:49:05This is happening.
00:49:08Kayla says she is thrilled to be playing.
00:49:11So this will be amazeballs.
00:49:16Straight into Lucky.
00:49:18No Trubbs.
00:49:19No Trubbs.
00:49:20Okay, Trubbs.
00:49:22I was terrified that it would be like Spinal Tap.
00:49:29It's kind of my job to be anxious.
00:49:31Or is it my job to pretend I'm not anxious?
00:49:34The more I try, I try to stop.
00:49:37The more I can feel.
00:49:38There's huge props on this stage.
00:49:41Oh!
00:49:43Oh!
00:49:44Oh!
00:49:44Oh!
00:49:48In the days when 410, I remember practically redecorating my house.
00:49:54Like, I'm just going to do something.
00:49:57I'm just going to, you know, do the...
00:49:59I do get kind of busy with decoration.
00:50:05That looks more chic than my entire life.
00:50:07Hi there.
00:50:07Hi.
00:50:08I just need to busy myself.
00:50:11Like, yep, get the garlands.
00:50:13We'll string the garlands up.
00:50:14What is she doing?
00:50:16Just leave her be.
00:50:22Tomorrow, the Pyramid Stage opens at one of the greatest festivals in the world.
00:50:28And for many people who play here, especially if it's their first gigs...
00:50:32Wow, wow, wow!
00:50:34This really is the calm before the storm.
00:50:36Oh!
00:50:40Come on.
00:50:56Radio 1 Newsbeat.
00:50:58And the top story this lunchtime.
00:51:00Kylie will be getting her wellies and waterproofs ready just in case.
00:51:03And it's the first time she's ever played Glastonbury.
00:51:05Here's a look at the line-up.
00:51:08She'll be joined at the festival by artists such as The Killers, Poesier, Vampire Weekend.
00:51:14In 2005, yeah, people like me didn't really get to play Glastonbury.
00:51:20Some legends in there as well, such as Interpol, Wu-Tang Clan and The Cure.
00:51:26And so I don't know if anyone would show up for me.
00:51:32So we are almost at the time.
00:51:34I can feel the excitement.
00:51:37Kylie Minogue on the Pyramid Stage.
00:51:43I was so nervous.
00:51:45You can't even imagine.
00:51:48But someone said before David Bowie played Glastonbury, he couldn't talk to anyone.
00:51:55I felt a lot better.
00:51:59Even if you're David Bowie, he's still nervous.
00:52:17But it was...
00:52:20Oh.
00:52:29Tell them all to me!
00:52:43Thank you so much!
00:52:55Thank you so much!
00:52:58It was such a wave of love.
00:53:03Isn't that an incredible sight?
00:53:07Do you see yourself?
00:53:09I had so much goodness from so many people.
00:53:11Can you see yourself?
00:53:13Who were there and beyond.
00:53:17Who had willed me to reach that stage.
00:53:23Dance.
00:53:24It's all I wanna do, so won't you dance?
00:53:28It really was a point where I felt like,
00:53:31I think I might've...
00:53:33I think I might've...
00:53:36I think I might've...
00:53:36done it.
00:53:38All the lovers
00:53:41That have gone before
00:53:45They don't come in
00:53:50To you
00:53:53It would've been rude to not allow that to come in.
00:53:57Because...
00:53:58It was...
00:53:59A marker that I wasn't able to give myself.
00:54:04Fear.
00:54:06Can't you see there's so much you to feel?
00:54:10Deep inside your heart you know I'm real.
00:54:14Can't you see that this is going higher, higher, higher, higher, higher.
00:54:20Breathe.
00:54:21I think it was the most watched Last and Brea performance of all time.
00:54:26It was beautiful to see how much love was directed at her.
00:54:30You know what the world loves essentially about Kylie,
00:54:33is that she really went through something.
00:54:35That's the sort of definition of joy in a way,
00:54:38which is that capacity to be able to sort of rise out of a certain suffering.
00:54:45I love you!
00:54:53And to see the world in a positive way.
00:55:00And her connection with the audience...
00:55:04It's not phony.
00:55:08It's very real for her.
00:55:12It is a true form of love.
00:55:15To you, to you, to you.
00:55:18So don't give her up.
00:55:19And that on some level is enough.
00:55:22Just give me a little bit more.
00:55:26They don't come in.
00:55:28Little Kylie got there.
00:55:30All the lovers.
00:55:41The one and only Mr. McKay!
00:55:46Mom!
00:55:47Were our fans nicer to you this time?
00:55:50I think they just looked at me with a kind of pity.
00:55:56Oh, he's back again.
00:55:58Ha, ha, ha!
00:56:26Great.
00:56:27Great job!
00:56:27Let's go!
00:56:29Ha, ha!
00:56:29Ha!
00:56:30we talk about in the future are probably spending more time here in this lovely peaceful environment
00:56:40and you know discovering whatever that that thing called balance is
00:56:47this should have been in the industry for a long time it's a long time i mean we've seen
00:56:50you grow up how do you think you can last there's a lot of borderline insulting questions about my
00:56:57age these days and being a woman in the industry when do you stop how long can you go on
00:57:03i can't
00:57:04envisage an old gray kylie minogue doing all that kind of stuff no i don't know i don't think anyone
00:57:11knows how long it will go for and i don't know how long i'll want it to go for there
00:57:15might come a day
00:57:16where i'll think okay i'd really like to sort of stop so there's definitely times where i think
00:57:24what would happen if i got off the merry-go-round just did nothing
00:57:37but i am my own worst enemy it's like go away everyone
00:57:44where is everyone
00:57:48maximum three days between those two phrases
00:57:53sometimes just a few hours
00:57:57breaking news kylie put out the single from her 16th album no sign she's slowing down
00:58:06next thing we're going on tour kylie is back with a song of people are saying is her raciest single
00:58:16yet
00:58:18and it's an absolute banger the year's biggest dancing
00:58:33it felt like i was just getting started
00:58:36it's a song of the summer and it's going viral
00:58:47the grammy goes to padam padam kylie minogue

01:00:05can i ask
01:00:12what's kylie like to work with
01:00:13oh
01:00:15nightmare
01:00:15that's what i'll say like
01:00:31what's 25 years we've been writing songs together
01:00:40everyone says about the joy of you but it's more than that
01:00:45right what have we got next
01:00:46we've written songs that probably no one would ever know what they're about apart from you and me
01:00:50and to hear them live it's really difficult beautiful but difficult
01:00:54this time of year
01:00:59this time of year

01:02:19the right time to to say it
01:02:21i don't feel obliged to tell the world
01:02:25and actually i just couldn't at the time because i was
01:02:29i was just a shell of a person
