00:04I have an update on the NET paper leak case as well.
00:07Delhi court has sent five accused in the NET leak gate to custody till the 2nd of June.
00:14Sending Mangilal Bival, Vikas Bival, the brothers who have taken the paper, bought the paper for their son or for
00:22children in their family.
00:24Also, Dinesh Bival, Yashyadav, Dhananjay Lokhande to the judicial custody.
00:29CBI seeking extension of the CBI custody of accused Shubham Khernar for seven days.
00:37My colleague, our legal correspondent Srishti Oja joins me for the latest on that.
00:40Srishti, go ahead. Tell me now about why do you think that the CBI is asking for extended custody, one
00:45in Shubham case,
00:46and judicial custody will impact the probe or the manner in which the case could proceed? How?
00:54Well, Pooja, five accused in this case, including the Bival brothers who were arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation,
01:00were earlier sent to CBI's custody after they were arrested and produced before Delhi's Routh Avenue Court.
01:06Now, today we saw CBI did not seek any further custody of these five accused,
01:11stating that they can be sent to judicial custody.
01:15The court agreed and has sent these five accused to judicial custody as of now.
01:19The fact that CBI didn't seek for their further custody right now would go on to show that they're not
01:24required immediately for any further questioning.
01:28At least as of now, because as we know, CBI is still probing the matter, searches are going on.
01:33In fact, even fresh arrests we've seen have been made even until two days back.
01:40So, clearly these five accused as of now were not required for any further questioning in custody,
01:46which is probably why CBI sought their judicial custody.
01:49It also means that if CBI needs an extension of their police custody,
01:54eventually after some time, to confront them with any new arrest or any new evidence, they could ask for it.
01:59As far as Shubham Khaer Nekar is concerned, CBI has sought further extension of a CBI custody,
02:05which basically means that he's still required to be confronted with people.
02:09There's also a possibility that he may have to be taken to different locations as part of the CBI's ongoing
02:14probe.
02:15Shubham Khaer Nekar, as we know, the allegation against him is that he bought the guest paper,
02:21which basically was at the center of the paper leak scandal.
02:24That particular paper was bought by him for 10 lakhs for another suspect who was raised in Kuna
02:30and then he further sold it for 15 lakhs.
02:32So, very serious allegations against this particular acute and the hearing as of now is still going on.
02:37So, we have to wait and see if the court agrees to send him to further CBI custody or not.
