Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer has reportedly criticized GOP leaders over claims surrounding a proposed $1B Trump ballroom project allegedly tied to taxpayer funding. The controversy has sparked a political firestorm in Washington, with Democrats accusing Republicans of backing luxury spending while ordinary Americans face economic pressure. GOP leaders, however, continue to defend their stance, intensifying the partisan clash. This developing story highlights growing tensions over government spending priorities, accountability, and high-profile political projects linked to former President Donald Trump.

00:00While Americans are getting crushed by the cost of rent, groceries, gas, health care, child care,
00:07Senate Republicans have spent their time trying to salvage a plan to force taxpayers to fund Donald Trump's gilded ballroom.
00:17Democrats stopped Republicans' first attempt.
00:20Now Republicans have a choice.
00:23Republicans can drop this ballroom boondoggle because Democrats exposed it and the public saw it for exactly what it was.
00:33Or Republicans can keep this boondoggle in the bill.
00:37Either way, Democrats will make sure they will have a chance to vote on it on the Senate floor.
00:44Republicans do not, do not get to hide from this.
00:48Americans can barely afford to keep a roof over their own heads.
00:52They should not be forced to pay for a golden roof over Trump's head.
00:56And to be very clear, I don't care if the Republicans ask for a billion dollars, a million dollars, or
01:02a single dollar.
01:03Every penny of taxpayer money for Donald Trump's vanity project is a penny too much.
01:10And Senate Democrats will fight to make sure not one penny of Americans' money is used for it.
01:17The ballroom is the perfect symbol of this Republican budget bill.
01:23Republicans focused on all the wrong things.
01:27This bill still pours tens of billions of dollars into Trump's masked agents, uncontrolled raids, unaccountable police forces.
01:35Republicans' bills, the Republican bill still does nothing, nothing, to lower grocery costs, lower rent, lower gas prices, lower health
01:45care costs.
01:46That is the contrast.
01:48Democrats fighting to lower costs.
01:51Republicans fighting to launder Trump's corruption through the federal budget.
01:57So let Republicans rewrite the text.
01:59Let them change the number.
02:01Let them try to hide the ballroom after they got caught.
02:04The truth will not change.
02:08Donald Trump sees Americans' money as his money.
02:12He somehow thinks he's entitled to reach into the average American family's pockets,
02:17take the money out of their pockets, and put it in his own.
02:22It's incredible.
02:24Republicans are writing the check.
02:26Democrats are saying hell no.
02:29Take a look at this section.
02:32Different facade.
02:34This is a Greek.
02:38More or less, it comes out of Greece.
02:40This is the ultimate facade for Greece.
02:44This faces the Treasury Building.
02:46This faces, this is a different facade.
02:48That's Rome.
02:49And that faces the Washington Monument, the Lincoln Memorial, et cetera.
02:55So you have two facades.
02:57Primarily, you have two entrances.
02:59You have here, you have here.
03:01But the primary entrance is through the White House, directly through the White House.
03:05And it's really something.
03:07I think you can see the complexity.
03:09All of these columns go directly up to the roof.
03:11And the roof is a barrier.
03:14It's a shield.
03:15Because it's made out of the sidewalls of steel, impenetrable steel, and also impenetrable glass.
03:24The glass is approximately four inches thick.
03:28And yet it's amazing.
03:29You can see through it as though it didn't exist.
03:31It's amazing.
03:32And it can stop just about anything.
03:36Just about anything.
03:37On the other side of the glass, we have steel and concrete.
03:41So that the glass is very powerful.
03:45What's holding the glass is equally as powerful.
03:48And that's here.
03:49And you can see they're just about ready to go up to the top.
03:52All of these columns, they go directly right to the roof of the building.
03:56And again, we call it a drone port.
03:58It's set up for unlimited numbers of drones.
04:03Purposely, we don't have any air conditioning equipment up there.
04:06Because we don't want anything coming down through the pipes if anybody gets.
04:11Normally, you'd have a lot of air conditioning equipment on the roof.
04:14We built it all inside the building.
04:17Inside the case of the building.
04:19Because we don't want to have anything having to do with air or air quality or any problems playing with
04:24the air.
04:25So you'll notice it's a dead flat roof with no equipment on it.
04:30All of the equipment is inside of the building.
04:34And that's for safety reasons.
04:36Normally, you'd do it a lot less expensive if you do it a different way.
04:39So all of this was paid for by myself.
04:42And because I keep hearing, like, we are making a gift of this.
04:47This is a gift.
04:48This is not going to be paid for by the taxpayer.
04:51We have a judge that thinks it's a terrible thing that we're making a gift.
04:55He said, it's terrible that we're making a gift that should be paid for by the taxpayer.
04:59That's one I've never heard before.
05:01I'm sure maybe, I don't know, maybe he doesn't understand.
05:03This is a gift to the United States of America.
05:07And more than a gift, it's going to be one of the most beautiful buildings that's ever been built in
05:13the country or in Washington, D.C.
