00:02A dedicated group of locals works hard to preserve the National Trust's extensive collection
00:07of antique horse-drawn vehicles at the Millicent Museum.
00:11It's just an insight to the past and how people used to live.
00:15But the money the group needs for projects has been caught in a dispute with the Trust's
00:19head office.
00:20We've got to go cap in hand to Adelaide and fill out all these forms and there's no guarantee
00:25that we're going to get it.
00:27At the heart of the dispute, this Millicent house was bequeathed to the local branch in
00:321975 and sold in 2015.
00:35The proceeds of the sale went into a central office account and interest is paid to the
00:40Millicent branch.
00:41Branch members say they now want access to the sale proceeds.
00:45You'd send an email, you wouldn't get a reply.
00:46You would ask a question and if you sort of met the CEO at the time and the subject would
00:52be changed.
00:54Volunteers say they want transparency and accountability from head office.
00:58In a statement, the National Trust says there's no agreement for the money raised from the sale
01:02of the Millicent house to be provided to the Millicent branch.
01:06It's one of several disagreements between the charity and its regional branches, including
01:10Renmark and Moonta.
01:11The state opposition is now pushing for a parliamentary inquiry into the National Trust.
01:16We feel it's really important that we do listen to these concerns from volunteers and from grassroots
01:23members right across the state.
01:25The government declined to discuss its position on the issue.
01:28The National Trust says a parliamentary inquiry would be a waste of taxpayers' money.
