00:00Justin Termini joins us right now on the Wiseheart Wright. We make it right. Call Kyle Wright Hotline.
00:05He is the host of NBA Today on SiriusXM. You also see him on NBA TV. Justin, good morning.
00:10Good morning. How we doing, fellas?
00:12We're doing wonderful.
00:13Justin, have you gotten over that insane opinion you had about a foul that was 70 feet away?
00:18Oh, boy.
00:19When you thought that the Cavs, like, were gifted some victory when they...
00:24I didn't think they were gifted a victory because I clearly stated during my rant that Cleveland deserved to still
00:31win the game,
00:32and Detroit's choke was the number one story, but it was also a foul.
00:36Did you want a lane violation, James?
00:38Sorry, did you want, like, a defensive three seconds?
00:40Is that what you want the playoffs to boil down to?
00:42There's a rule book.
00:43Gloves are off.
00:44Oh, there's a rule book.
00:45Thanks.
00:45Everything is called by the ball.
00:46Thanks, Justin.
00:46There's a rule book.
00:47Okay.
00:48I thought I was...
00:48Listen, I'd come on here free of charge in order to offer insight on what's going on,
00:53not to be attacked, so you just had one of the better victories in the history of your organization,
00:59and you want to go at me personally?
01:01Yeah, why not?
01:01You want to break down the...
01:02I want to go at you personally.
01:03Barney Fife joins us right now on the Wise Heart Right We Make It Right called Kyle Wright Hotline.
01:07Go ahead, Tone.
01:08Would you like to confide with your boy, J.B. Bickerstaff, that maybe Detroit fouls too much?
01:14Maybe they got a fouling problem.
01:15They only led the NBA in foul rate this year.
01:17Riddle me that, Tuffy.
01:18Why is it some shock that the Cavs had a big free-throw disparity in this series?
01:22No, I mean, I don't think it is.
01:23I just think on that...
01:25Listen, I didn't like all the complaining from J.B. Bickerstaff, and I even said after that
01:29entire fiasco the other night that I personally had the...
01:32Like, I could complain.
01:34Detroit Talk Radio could complain.
01:36Piston fans could complain.
01:37But the people I didn't want to hear complaining were J.B. Bickerstaff and anybody on that roster
01:42because they're the ones that put themselves in that situation.
01:45So, again, that's on them, the way that they put...
01:49You know, they didn't come out with any energy last night.
01:51How the hell?
01:53I thought it was embarrassing what Cleveland did in, what, Game 6, where they didn't close
01:59things out with that effort?
02:00Yeah, it was embarrassing.
02:01And it was just as bad last night.
02:02How many times do you have...
02:03That was embarrassing.
02:03That was embarrassing.
02:04But I didn't sit there and lament about fouls and saying that things weren't fair.
02:09That was my whole issue with it.
02:11That's the problem.
02:11You're not going to put a guy at the line to finish off a basketball game in the playoffs.
02:16I don't even know if you'd do that in February.
02:18I don't know if you'd do that in a regular season.
02:20No one pays for that.
02:21Come on.
02:24Hello?
02:25Yeah, what?
02:26I thought he hung up on...
02:28I'm agreeing.
02:29Oh, okay.
02:29Then he gave up.
02:30He gave up like the Pistons did in Game 7 at home.
02:33That's what he did.
02:34It's okay.
02:34Listen, at the start times, it would have missed the free throws anyway.
02:37I don't understand what you're that concerned about.
02:38Okay.
02:39Justin Termini joins us right now on the show.
02:42So, were you surprised by how badly the Cavs beat them last night?
02:45Or was this like, eh, you know, one team, they got the experience.
02:49The other team kind of ran out of gas.
02:51No.
02:51I mean, I thought Detroit was...
02:53I thought Cleveland was going to win after it was, you know, at home in Game 6.
02:56But the way that they came out in Game 6, Detroit's going home.
03:00They've been relatively good there all season long.
03:02I think, you know, Donovan Mitchell...
03:04I mean, up to this point, like Cade Cunningham was the best player in the series.
03:08You know, I think you guys would even admit that Mitchell, outside of one quarter in the
03:11second half of Game 5, had been absolutely brutal.
03:15So, I had more confidence in Detroit heading into the game last night.
03:19So, not only...
03:20Listen, am I shocked that they won?
03:21No.
03:22But I'm shocked that they won how they won.
03:24That's the best game they've played all postseason.
03:26I mean, let's be honest.
03:27It's been difficult to get up to this point for the Cavs.
03:30A lot more difficult than it should have been.
03:32Justin Termini with us.
03:34So, given what we just saw out of two Game 7s that the Cavs have been able to win, one
03:41at home, one on the road, have you changed your mind about this Cavs team at all?
03:47Meaning, do they have an opportunity to beat New York?
03:50Here's how I would judge the remaining teams.
03:52I would say Oklahoma City's one.
03:54San Antonio's two.
03:55The way New York has been playing ever since they started running through Carl Anthony Towns
04:00is three.
04:01And I think that all three of those teams are capable of winning the title.
04:04Even New York, which I wouldn't have said a week and a half ago.
04:06Then I think there's a gap.
04:07And then I think there's the Cavaliers.
04:09So, I think Cavs are clearly the fourth best team remaining.
04:12Do you guys disagree with that?
04:14Well, here's the one thing.
04:14Like, there's no doubt.
04:15The Knicks are riding high.
04:17They played incredibly well.
04:18It's all come together.
04:19Mike Brown doing a terrific job.
04:21With that said, I mean, they were playing a Philly team where
04:26Joel Embiid could barely move.
04:28And I do think that it's going to be very different from Carl Anthony Towns
04:32going up against Evan Mobley.
04:33I don't know if point guard cat is going to fly against Evan Mobley
04:37who's been everywhere.
04:39A little bit different animal than the guy who moved like a flat Stanley
04:42in the last series.
04:43All right.
04:43But New York's also a different animal than a team where you had to guard one player.
04:47Let's be honest.
04:47You had to guard one player.
04:48100%.
04:48You're right.
04:49You're concerned about, like, Tobias Harris is the number two option.
04:53Let's be clear.
04:54Tobias Harris would maybe be the fourth option on the Knicks.
04:57If McHale Bridges has it going, then he's the fifth option.
05:00So you're facing a much better offense than you just got done facing.
05:04And even Toronto.
05:06Like, Toronto, you haven't faced a decent offense yet.
05:09Detroit's offense stinks.
05:10Toronto's offense is an absolute disaster.
05:12And you made Scotty Barnes look like he was Magic Johnson for most of that series.
05:17So, you know, and like the guy that I think's been playing the best for the Knicks,
05:20I don't know if you guys agree or not, isn't Carl Anthony Towns who's getting all this credit
05:24for not running the offense, or Jalen Brunson who's always getting the credit.
05:28I think it's been O.G.
05:29And Inobe.
05:30So I think a key is going to be, is he healthy?
05:32And has he, you know, lost his rhythm?
05:34Because if O.G.
05:35And Inobe plays, like, do you guys agree with this?
05:37If And Inobe plays the way that he did prior to going down with the injury the first two
05:41rounds, that it's going to be really, like, the Cavs probably can't win.
05:45Because I think he's the best two-way player in the sport.
05:48Yeah, he has been incredible.
05:50And I'm not disagreeing with anything you just said.
05:53I do think that they, the Knicks are going to have some trouble guarding the screen and
05:59roll against both Harden and Donovan Mitchell.
06:02I think Donovan could actually have his best series of the playoffs so far against the Knicks.
06:08Because I think they can match up Hunt in a way that they really couldn't against Toronto
06:13and to a little bit more of an extent in that last series.
06:18Yeah, all right.
06:19So let's, if you get, like, the version of Donovan Mitchell we saw last night, because
06:23something to me is off with Mitchell.
06:25I mean, he's been explosive athletically, really, throughout the course of his entire
06:29career.
06:30Something's been different this postseason, Ron.
06:32I don't, I don't know if you guys agree.
06:33You've seen more regular season games than me.
06:35I've watched every Cavs postseason game thus far.
06:39He just doesn't look like he has the same, you know, first step.
06:42The athleticism that appears sapped to me.
06:44I thought he was even injured earlier in this series.
06:47And, like, last night he was fantastic.
06:49All right?
06:49So you get that version of Donovan Mitchell, then fine.
06:51Even with, like, I don't even think it was about the scoring last night.
06:54I thought his playmaking was fantastic.
06:56Right off the bat, there had been all this talk about how he's not setting up the teammates.
07:00You know, it was kind of felt like a James Harden team where things were being run
07:04too much through him.
07:05Last night I thought you ran things through Donovan Mitchell.
07:07He was playmaking.
07:09Like, you get that version.
07:10I agree with you, Tony.
07:11You get the, you know, the stuff that you've got up to this point in the postseason, not
07:15so much.
07:17Justin Termini joining us on the show.
07:19How good do you think Kenny Atkinson is?
07:21He's taken a little bit of, he's taken a lot of heat this year, and he's taken a bit
07:24of criticism here in the postseason.
07:26Yeah, I mean, so I like the guy.
07:29I, like, maybe a little bit.
07:31I'm in Boston.
07:31Maybe a little Joe Missoula, right, where Missoula, I thought, was the best regular
07:35season coach this year.
07:36Then you get into the postseason and the adjustments, he's a little slow with him, and I thought
07:40he had a horrific series against Philadelphia.
07:43I mean, clearly he did a tremendous job with the Nets, turning things around there.
07:48Regular season, to me, he's been, you know, great.
07:50I didn't like the decision last year to rest the guys and, like, not play guys 40 minutes.
07:55I think you have to be willing to, like, push guys.
07:57So that might be a weakness.
07:59He goes to the bench too much.
08:01But, you know, and I guess maybe the other minor critique, and this is more long-term
08:06than, like, game-to-game in the postseason, is just Evan Mobley's development hasn't been
08:11as good as I would have anticipated.
08:13Although, I think Mobley really might have been what shifted this series.
08:16The last three or four games, he's looked a little bit better than he did at the start
08:21of the postseason.
08:21Do you think it was odd watching that game yesterday?
08:25I think at one point, the Cavs were up 30 or more, and Stan Van Gundy starts going in
08:30on James Harden's Game 7 struggles.
08:34Did you find that odd when James Harden had a plus 31 yesterday and played competent defense,
08:40rebounded, got others involved, the ball didn't stick to him, didn't turn the ball over?
08:44Did that kind of sound personal to you?
08:47I mean, listen, I don't know.
08:49You didn't find that odd?
08:50You didn't find that personal?
08:52Is that normal?
08:53Do the broadcasters typically point out someone who's on a team in the middle of an ass-kicking?
08:58I mean, I did a show on YouTube, my show, which you guys didn't promote, by the way.
09:02You could have done that.
09:03It's Turbany Crashes out on YouTube.
09:05I just started that.
09:06No, we played the hell out of it last week when you were bitching up a storm about the
09:09final two minutes that the NBA said was still clean.
09:11We played the hell out of it.
09:13I appreciate that.
09:15And, you know, so you could sign up for that.
09:17Turbany Crashes out there on YouTube.
09:19But, you know, I kind of said, you know, about Harden last night, his game seven struggles,
09:25you know, basically get usurped.
09:28Like, he didn't show up and, you know, score.
09:31And that's what he's supposed to do, according to Daryl Morey, who's now out of a job, by the
09:34way.
09:35He's supposed to be the greatest offensive player of all time.
09:37And so what he shoot last night, like two of nine, two of eight, two of ten.
09:42Like, you know, so, you know, he's got to be better than he was last night.
09:45You know, like a turnover ratio of six to one?
09:47Boom.
09:48Oh, tremendous.
09:49Great.
09:50He took, like, that should be expected from, you know, an all-time great guard.
09:54He's not turning the ball.
09:55He's 36.
09:56Turbany, come on.
09:58Is that something?
09:58Are you about to pay him?
10:0130-plus million dollars?
10:02Oh, well, we'll have those discussions when the time warrants.
10:05Or 36, you're still going to pay him all that money.
10:07No reason to get ahead of ourselves.
10:08We can have those decisions at the end of the year.
10:10I just subscribed to your YouTube channel.
10:12I hope you're happy about that.
10:14Overall.
10:15Overall, though.
10:16Turbany, overall, the James Harden experience, the roller coaster of the James Harden experience.
10:20What are your thoughts?
10:22I'd like to trade at the outset.
10:24I mean, I thought, and I think we talked about this a little, Tony.
10:28One, he's healthier than Darius Garland.
10:30He's always out there on the floor.
10:32It's not like Darius Garland gives you anything great in the postseason as well.
10:35I think he's a better defender than Darius Garland and that he can get guys down in the post.
10:39He's got a big body.
10:41So, you know, the only thing I guess I would say has been a negative.
10:45I'm not even going to hold it against him.
10:46He didn't shoot the ball well last night, and he turns the ball over a lot.
10:50I feel at times they run things through him too much.
10:53Like you said, he's 36.
10:55Donovan Mitchell's in the heart of his prime.
10:57It should be a Donovan Mitchell team.
10:59And I think sometimes they fall too much in the habit of just like, oh, well, that's James Harden.
11:04Give him the ball, and it becomes dribble, dribble, dribble.
11:07But when they run things through Donovan Mitchell a little bit more, that's when I like it.
11:13Justin Termini joining us on the show.
11:15He's from NBA Radio, also NBA TV, also Termini Crashes Out, where I just subscribed to him.
11:20You are now on the same list as Larry Lawton, regular car reviews, slap shoes, Brock Beard as well.
11:26I hope you – John Gruden, I hope you feel – Glazier Clinics, I hope you feel very honored that
11:34I follow you on the –
11:35I am, I appreciate it, and you can follow if you don't like the product in a couple of days.
11:40We'll see what you say.
11:41Termini, for so long, I hear from the gatekeepers about how soft this version of the NBA is.
11:49And yet, in the last two series, you're allowed to tackle guys off the ball.
11:53You're allowed to bear hug them.
11:54The forearm shiver is back with a vengeance.
11:58Are people just failing to recognize that this is pretty damn physical?
12:03Well, it's physical.
12:04I mean, you don't have to worry about losing your life if you're going to the rim yet.
12:08Did you see Sam Merrill trying to take a charge yesterday?
12:11Yeah, except – well, he not only did he try, he took one, and that was –
12:15you know, he got steamrolled there by Asar Thompson, another play where J.B. Bickerstaff somehow was complaining.
12:20How are you complaining about that?
12:22It was a clear charge.
12:23But it is not – Tony, I think I saw you tweet about this.
12:26It is not 1987.
12:28It is not 1996 in regards to the physicality.
12:31But I do like how the league allows it to be more physical against everybody outside of SGA.
12:38Once we get to the postseason, he, of course, will just keep trotting to the free-throw line nonstop.
12:43And you guys will get sick of that rather quickly if you face him in the NBA Finals.
12:47I'd be happy to be in the NBA Finals facing him.
12:49I think that this has been a successful season for the Cavs.
12:53Can – you know, listen, I'm rooting for you.
12:55I'd love to visit in June your lovely city as opposed to New York, which to me is a cesspool.
13:01I love Cleveland.
13:02I do not like New York.
13:04I lived in New York for 15 years.
13:06I don't want to go back.
13:07Hold on.
13:07They got a new mayor.
13:08They got a new mayor.
13:09Justin, why don't you try that out?
13:11Well, I have not been back since the new mayor is there.
13:14Maybe things have been cleaned up a little bit and it's less stressful.
13:17But I love everything more about the city of Cleveland, the food, the females, everything.
13:23The accommodations in regards to where you stay, the arena, the atmosphere outside of the arena.
13:28Well, why don't you just come here for the Easter?
13:30Are you coming here for the Easter Conference, Ronaldson, or what?
13:32No?
13:34Termini doesn't make trips for conference finals.
13:36He only does the big games.
13:38So get to the big games.
13:41These are big games.
13:43Not big enough for Termini.
13:45No.
13:45So this isn't a successful season then for the Cavs is what you're saying?
13:49I don't think it's a successful season.
13:52Do you guys?
13:52I do.
13:53I do.
13:53I don't know if Tone does, but I do.
13:55All right.
13:55Well, so that's my concern.
13:57So I was thinking about this last night, really the last couple of days.
14:00It almost seemed like, and again, I can't get in the players' heads, but it almost seemed like what you're
14:06saying.
14:06Like it's unacceptable to lose in the second round.
14:10If we lose to Detroit, maybe Kenny Atkinson gets fired or faces some pressure.
14:15Maybe we have to trade Jared Allen or Evan Mobley.
14:17Maybe Donovan Mitchell starts to get a little antsy.
14:20Even though the way Mitchell played, he had no right to blame anybody else but himself for the loss.
14:25But it almost seemed like, hey, if we win this round, it's okay if we lose to the Knicks.
14:30I hope that's not the mindset, but that's almost the sense that I get.
14:33No, no, no, no, no.
14:35I'm just excited to be back in the Eastern Conference Finals.
14:37That's all.
14:37But no, you can't just go out there and get hammered by the Knicks, and I don't think they will.
14:42Justin, thank you very much for the time.
14:43See you in hell.
14:46Hopefully, I'll save you a seat.
14:48Oh, I'll beat you there.
14:50All right.
14:50Justin Termini.
14:51Big thanks to him.
14:52Termini Radio on social media.
14:53The host of Termini Crashes Out on YouTube.
14:58Did you subscribe as well?
14:59No.
15:00Why not?
15:01I mean, he wanted...
15:03I subscribed.
15:03He was on the Wiseheart right.
15:04We make it right.
15:05Call call it right.
15:05He wanted to gift the Pistons a win on a foul where guys are going for a loose ball with
15:12one second left 70 feet from the basket.
15:14I can't subscribe to that ever.
15:17Well, that thought that you could subscribe to the channel now, wouldn't you?
15:20If those are the thoughts permeating from the channel on a daily basis.
15:23People listen to us and they disagree with us every day, so what's the problem?
15:26They don't.
15:26Come on.
15:27A lot do.
15:28A lot do.
15:29I don't believe it.
15:29There are people in this world who think that you win arguments against me, which I find to be completely
15:34asinine.
15:35Where do we argue?
15:37We're a team.
15:37Look, we're rooting for a team that's in the final four.
15:40We haven't really had a bunch of arguing about it.
15:41We are rooting for a team that is one of four remaining teams in the sport.
15:46Sorry if we're excited.
15:48We're not going to bicker over that.
15:49What do you think about that?
15:49Have you think?
