ASMR for Pain Relief Treating Your Headache or Migraine Gentle Binaural Music
Transcript
00:00Hello. So you probably clicked this video because you have a headache or migraine right
00:14now. So I'm going to do my best to try to give you some relief before we begin.
00:31Can you go ahead and try to find a comfortable, comfortable, comfortable position? Maybe laying
00:41down in a dark room if you can. But if you're in an environment where that isn't possible,
00:49such as an office, just try to make yourself as comfortable as possible.
01:01So some studies have shown that ASMR and other relaxation techniques can help with headaches
01:10and migraines, especially ones related to tension. Trying to relax, relax, relax. And even just
01:25get your mind off the pain can help quite a bit. I highly recommend turning your brightness
01:36down. If you're watching on your phone or your laptop, try to turn it down.
01:48And then we can begin. I also encourage you to simply listen to the sounds that I'm making
02:02touch on your phone. I'm going to turn it down. I'm trying to keep my hands as I move from
02:05one ear to the other. This will help in distracting you from your headache.
02:21I suffer from migraines myself I am especially triggered by light so standing outside in a
02:32really sunny day can trigger a migraine for me so I understand if you want to simply turn
02:40your screen off put on an eye mask and lie in complete darkness but I'm going to be giving you
02:50a couple other tips and trying to take care of you myself with a few items that I have here
03:00of course it's highly recommended that you do these in real life after this video as well
03:10also I want to mention that you are watching the version with music there have been some studies
03:21that show and I'll link it tick tick tick one of them down below that when combining ASMR and
03:31certain binaural frequencies it can help relax you which should alleviate some of your pain especially
03:42if it's a tension headache and for all the skeptics out there including me what I always do is I
03:55remind
03:55myself that placebo effect is extremely extremely extremely powerful even if a person knows that
04:05they are experiencing placebo they still experience the effects of it like there was a study where
04:14somebody took a pill knowing it was a placebo pill and still felt the effects so the brain is a
04:24very very
04:24powerful powerful powerful powerful tool so if you can just allow yourself to kind of be lost in the music
04:34or the frequencies the beats
04:37as you hear them ear to ear and know that there's at least some signs suggesting it could help make
04:50you feel better and that should probably bring you some comfort and some relaxation
05:03so the first thing I recommend that you get a big glass of water and try to drink the entire
05:18thing
05:23a lot of headaches are caused by dehydration
05:33also if you are a coffee drinker I recommend that maybe you have a small amount of caffeine
05:43such as a black tea or a jasmine tea or something with just
05:51a little bit of caffeine that can sometimes help
06:09if you feel like your face is also hot
06:15you can always cool down a rack with some water and light on your head
06:23so I'm going to wipe your face with these cotton pads and some cooling spray is that okay is that
06:30okay
06:31great
06:38this is a cooling face mist
06:57there we go
06:58clean
06:59just wiping your face down
07:28and
07:39It's getting closer to your ears.
07:46There we go.
07:53Next, I have this device.
07:55Well, device is a funny word for it, but it's a head massager.
08:02And if you've ever used one of these before, you'll know that it feels pretty intense on your head.
08:09But it can help relieve some neck and shoulder and head tension.
08:15So, let me show you how it works.
08:18So, you just...
08:29Like that.
08:30So, I'm going to do it to you.
08:32Ready?
08:37There we go.
08:46I hope that feels pretty good.
08:49You'll notice how you tense up and then relax.
09:03How is that?
09:08Good.
09:13Listen to all the tapping noises that I will be making.
09:19Try not to let your mind wander.
09:22Wander, wander.
09:29Okay.
09:30Now, I'm going to give you a quick head massage and head scratch.
09:38I have long nails that should feel pretty good.
09:46So, is it okay if I give you a quick head scratch and head massage?
10:07You have really beautiful hair.
10:10It's really soft.
10:27Let me know if I'm going too hard or if maybe you want it even a little more intense.
10:57There.
10:59Does that feel better?
11:00There.
11:01You can go ahead and move your neck side to side like that.
11:10Great.
11:13So, next we're going to do some aromatherapy.
11:22There's a little bit of science behind certain smells.
11:28Helping headaches and helping alleviate pain.
11:33And even if it's just placebo effect, you know, if it makes you think you feel better, then that's almost
11:39as good.
11:39Okay, so...
11:43Okay, so...
11:49This is a scrunchie that has lavender.
11:55Lavender, lavender, lavender inside of the scrunchie.
12:05And it smells really good.
12:08And it smells really good.
12:08You can kind of hear the lavender seeds inside it.
12:13Listen.
12:29So, I'm going to hold this up to your nose and you...
12:33You take a deep breath.
12:36Okay.
12:37Ready?
12:43Again.
12:50It should smell really good.
12:53Really, really, really good.
13:01Don't forget to keep listening to the sounds, okay?
13:20Another thing that I recommend is that you wear in-ear headphones, not over-ear, like this.
13:33So, we want in-ear headphones, not over-ear headphones, if possible.
13:41Especially if you are sensitive to pressure on your head.
13:45Sometimes that can make your headache even worse.
13:56Next, I have a peppermint spray.
14:04I'm going to spray it on one of the cotton pads and then hold it up to your nose and
14:09ask you to take another deep breath.
14:13I don't know if you've ever been to a massage or a spa, but the ones that I've been to,
14:19they normally have a portion of the treatment where they hold something really relaxing, smelling like mint up to your
14:29nose and ask you to inhale deeply.
14:33And I really like that part of it.
14:35I don't know, I don't know, I think experiences that kind of utilize all five senses are the most relaxing.
14:46So, let's just...
14:52It's very strong, so...
14:55I'm going to hold it not so close to your face, like there.
14:59So, can you take a deep breath?
15:05Good.
15:06Okay, one more.
15:14Good job.
15:25Of course, if you're open to taking some pain reliever,
15:30that, of course, is the fastest and maybe the easiest way to relieve a headache or migraine,
15:39a lot of migraine medication has caffeine included.
15:45Just as a heads up if you're trying...
15:49trying...
15:50to use this video to go to bed or you're about to try to take a nap.
15:58Sometimes, I will drink a giant glass of water.
16:03Maybe take just one...
16:07ibuprofen and try to take a nap.
16:10When I have, you know, a headache or the beginnings of a migraine.
16:15And see if that doesn't...
16:17See if I don't feel better when I wake up.
16:20When I wake up, when I wake up, when I wake up.
16:32They also say that certain supplements can help with migraines and headaches such as magnesium.
16:46Magnesium and also B vitamins.
16:51And there's even some science that suggests that melatonin can help with migraines.
17:04I've been taking melatonin on most nights, maybe like four times a week, for a few months now.
17:13And I haven't gotten a migraine in those few months, but that might just be coincidence.
17:19But it also, perhaps, could be the magnesium and the melatonin that I've been taking.
17:28Vitamins are kind of difficult to measure the efficacy of.
17:34So, you know, kind of experiment with a couple different things.
17:42Like in my case, with my migraines, you know, if you also suffer from light-related migraines,
17:50you could, you know, make sure to always have sunglasses outside.
17:56Little, little, little, little, little life changes like that.
18:06So, for the next few minutes, I'm just going to be doing some ASMR triggers.
18:13A little bit fast, but hopefully not too, too loud.
18:21So, if you could just listen to my voice.
18:26Listen to my voice and continue trying to relax, maybe taking deep breaths.
18:45I'm going to do a little bit of inaudible whispering, if that's not your thing.
18:51I'll probably include timestamps down below.
18:55And you can skip through it, so.
18:58Inaudible or unintelligible, I always kind of mix the two up.
19:06Like I mean, I just like the melody at the melody of the melody by the melody of the melody
19:15of the melody of the melody of the melody of the melody of the melody of the melody of the
19:15melody.
19:16Get a little bit more深 anchor like that.
19:28I уж, Nah, I could push this up to you from the melody of the melody of the knot.
19:34I, I still haven't spoken into my face
19:37Okay, okay, okay.
19:39Okay, okay, okay.
19:42I'm gonna bring me a thing
19:45about my scary butter.
19:47This is doing the kind of mixed little day.
19:53What am I gonna do?
19:55I'm gonna take it this way.
19:58I'm gonna go.
20:02This is gonna feel like not good.
20:06I'm gonna pretend to be in the closet
20:12So I'm going to sleep
20:13I'm going to sleep
20:14So I'm going to sleep
20:16I'm going to sleep
20:17Take a look
20:17Take a look
20:18I'm going to do a little bit of animation
20:19So
20:20I'm going to try
20:23Keep looking at this
20:23I'm going to make you okay
20:25I'm going to pretend that this is
20:26This is where you kind of have to pay attention to
20:31Pay attention to
20:33The ones that I'm making
20:34Okay
20:35Okay
20:36It's okay
20:38It's okay
20:38It's okay
20:41It's okay
20:42It's okay
20:48It's okay
20:49It's okay
20:51Okay
20:54So next
20:55We're going to be doing a technique
20:58Where I am going to be pulling the pain from your forehead
21:04and cutting it off. So, if you can kind of think about your headache, I know you don't
21:12want to, I know you don't want to think about the pain, but if you can briefly kind of feel
21:18where it is in your forehead, maybe it's behind your eyes, once you feel it, just let me know
21:29and then I will grab it, and you can feel the pain being pulled out of your forehead and
21:36then cut off. Okay, so let me show you. Let me know when you kind of have an idea of
21:41where
21:42it is in your head. Maybe some other visualization techniques, like if your headache had a color,
21:49what would that color be? Or if it had a shape, maybe it's like, you know, a drum, or maybe
21:58it's like smoke or fog. You got it? Okay. So, pulling. There we go. You're doing really
22:14good. There we go. So, just grabbing all of that pain, pulling it. There we go. You're
22:29doing really good. Keep that image of kind of like what color, what shape, where your headache
22:36is, and try to be a person observing it. There we go. Try to have a different relationship
22:51with the pain. Don't forget that you are not your mind. You are watching your mind, if that
23:01makes sense. And you are observing your pain from a third person.
23:28grab it like a little bit closer. Pluck. Pluck. Pluck. Pluck. Pluck. There. That should
23:37feel a little bit better. Good. Good, good, good, good, good, good, good, good, good, good,
23:45good, good, good, good, good, good, good. So, I'm going to kind of wrap up this headache
23:54relief session with some more simple ASMR triggers. I'm going to include an echo effect, which will
24:06make this feel a little more white sounds or white noise, excuse me, just to kind of block
24:14out. You know, any thoughts that want to focus on the pain at this point, we're back to trying
24:24to distract ourselves and relax, essentially.
24:36rest or anything like that. I'm going to make this feel the pain at this point. And you might
25:07It's okay. It's okay. It's okay. Your pain will pass. It always does.
25:24If you can survive the next 5 or 10 seconds, if you can see the pain is bearable, then you
25:35can make it the next 5 or 10 seconds. If you try to feel pain in that way, it can
25:46really
25:46help.
26:23Okay friend, I hope that this helped even a little bit. I hope it was able to provide
26:31you some relief. One of the most important things, you know, is trying to relax in a quiet
26:40place in a dark place if you can. Alright. Until, until, until, until, until next time. Bye.
27:06I hope you enjoy...
27:06Bye.
27:08Bye.
27:08Amen.
