00:03Story gives meaning to any design and I thought when it's located next to the forest we should
00:10create a tree house because it's something that is quite dreamy and at the same time very cozy.
00:20The apartment is located in the middle of Hong Kong. There's not much of greenery area especially
00:29in the center of the city so we actually really treasure the moment when we actually have an
00:34opportunity to build an apartment next to the hillside. This apartment is 33 square meters for
00:41the interior, 4 square meters for the balcony. I live in the apartment with my dog and we each
00:50have our own corners. The apartment was bought three years ago. At that time it was a one-bedroom
00:57apartment and what I've done here is I demolished the partitioning wall and built a tree house.
01:06After you kind of break the wall it created like a pilaramic view that frames the outside. I think a
01:14lot of challenges comes into like working with the existing built that is being provided by the
01:20apartment that when I purchased. For the kitchen they made it out of brass and wood and that's why I
01:29want to keep it because it's already a very nice kitchen. We only have like a simple dark blue color
01:37to echoes the kitchen to highlight the gold and not have it overtly to blink and at the same time
01:46put in
01:46a few elements which is custom that is gold also like the Tom Dixon light adjacent to the sofa.
01:55A lot of people saying that in a small apartment you shouldn't be using very dark colors. It really
02:02kind of depends on what kind of situation you're in. If you're trying to frame the view of the outside
02:08so the outside should take presence as opposed to the inside it actually helps to connect yourself to
02:15the outside. I bought in the patricia ukulele terracotta tiles and clad the outskirt of it and then
02:26works perfectly with the timber frame. Also the dark and the light is about creating sequences.
02:34Downstairs of the tree house is only six foot and upstairs four foot. It actually allows me to
02:40host dinner parties below the tree house. When you get up to the tree house all sides of the walls
02:47including the ceiling is all cladded in pine wood and when you're inside the space you have a really
02:52tiny slit of window that kind of looks out into the forest. It feels really cozy. One side of the
02:59wall is
03:00part of the closet. So what I did to the closet is the lower part I clad it in paints
03:07that matched the
03:08dark blue paint downstairs. So when you're in the lower level you feel like you're in one space but
03:14when you actually get to the upper level it's all clad up in timber so you already feel like you're
03:19in
03:19another space. Because they want to minimize any vertical element in the kitchen they've divided into
03:25two under counter fridge. So one side is the freezer and the other one is just a normal fridge.
03:36It is very quiet living next to forest and it's very convenient because it's in the middle of Hong
03:41Kong and it's nice to actually be able to look into something other than concrete in Hong Kong.
03:47So we really want to treasure that kind of view when you're in here.
03:53Here we go.
03:56Here we go.
