00:00Look who just walked up to us, Mr. Buble, how are you?
00:02Casual.
00:03When you think country music, you think...
00:05First thing that comes to mind.
00:05Michael Buble.
00:06Buble.
00:07Yeah.
00:08But you should, because I love it.
00:10And you've been in Nashville, I heard.
00:11Oh, yeah, but making a record.
00:13We've been hearing some rumors about floating around tonight.
00:15It's my love letter to country music.
00:17You know, when I was on The Voice, Reba would sit next to me,
00:20and she'd look at my phone, ballerini,
00:21and my whole playlist was like, Hank Williams and Willie.
00:25And literally, it was Reba.
00:28And she was like, really?
00:29And I was like, yeah, this is jazz.
00:31I never started it.
00:32And then when I played the Opry the first time,
00:35I just realized that this community,
00:38sort of we share a lot of the same values,
00:39and I had to be a bigger part of it.
00:43Right.
00:43I love that you talk about, like, this community.
00:46Now, I will say, being working in...
00:48I go to all the genre award shows, right?
00:50The country crowd is way different.
00:52Special.
00:53Special.
00:53So what would you say is the most special thing
00:55about the country community
00:56that doesn't remind you of anything else in music?
00:58Well, I'll tell you.
00:59That first night at the Opry,
01:00I knew the history.
01:02I knew the weight and the gravitas of being there.
01:04What I had never seen in my life
01:06being in a million different award shows
01:08was every single dressing room door was open,
01:11and there were massive, iconic stars.
01:13And we just went in and out,
01:15and everybody was having a drink,
01:17and we were singing together.
01:19And literally, I was like...
01:19I literally walked...
01:20I was at the Isaacs.
01:21I met the Isaacs.
01:22You guys know the Isaacs?
01:23Oh, of course.
01:23Of course.
01:23And I literally met Sonia,
01:25and I went,
01:25Sonia, is this what it is?
01:27Is this...
01:27And she went like,
01:28yeah, this is us.
01:29And I was like, okay.
01:30You've seen everything you needed to see in that moment.
01:32Adopt me right now.
01:34I need to be part of this.
01:35Yeah, they're beautiful people.
01:37That's incredible.
01:38Even this morning,
01:38I talked to Kelsey Ballerini,
01:40and she was like,
01:42Mike, you're going to like this.
01:43This is different than anything else.
01:44I was like, I can't wait.
01:45And you're also presenting tonight,
01:46which is very exciting.
01:48Yeah, very exciting.
01:48We have a new album.
01:49Can you tell us anything
01:50about the new album coming out?
01:52Well, I think I could say this,
01:53that my album is a love letter to country music.
01:56It's a love letter to the history,
01:58to the writers,
01:59to the singers,
02:02to...
02:02You know, for me,
02:04there was so much in common
02:05when I looked at people that I love,
02:07like Nat Cole, Frank, Dean.
02:10They...
02:10Literally, it's not that different.
02:11Wonderful storytellers,
02:13incredible musicianship,
02:14and again,
02:15a community of people
02:16that love music
02:17and lift each other up.
02:19And so...
02:19That's what country's about.
02:20It's joyful.
02:21Well, have so much fun presenting tonight.
02:22Thank you for hecking up.
02:23We're very happy to have you here.
02:25Your next interview's great.
02:26I love that.
02:26Thank you so much.
02:28Listen, if Michael Bublé's a fan,
02:30then I wonder who's coming up.
